Thanks you guys and thanks Vern, for that 80’s flashback. Sheesh! I vaguely remember that video. I don’t think I’ve worked a whole 40 hour 5 day week since 2004. For some reason, a Randi repeat show is on NovaM instead of Bill Press. I think there’s a good reason she’s on in the afternoon. 🙄
The owners of the ritzy Rainbow Room, which overlooks midtown Manhattan from high above the Rockefeller Center skating rink, plan to shutter their Italian-themed Rainbow Grill restaurant.
Oh, how the wingnuts writhe and hiss at the prospect of Sen. Al Franken … especially now that it’s about to come true:
A state election board on Monday will announce Democrat Al Franken has defeated Republican incumbent Norm Coleman in Minnesota’s U.S. Senate race, state officials told CNN Sunday.
The canvassing board on Monday will say a recount determined Franken won by 225 votes, Secretary of State Mark Ritchie told CNN.
However, Coleman’s campaign, which contends the recount should have included about 650 absentee ballots it says were improperly rejected in the initial count, has indicated it will challenge the certification.
It’s all going to wind up in the courts before it gets settled, but there’s little doubt Franken has the upper hand.
Vernon, thanks for Elvis! I play that on my Treo every Monday – well, just Welcome to the Working Week. How old was that Devo?
Speaking of my Treo – it was too tempting for the pup on Saturday, luckily I’m covered. I hope her chewing thing is just exploration, and not rebellion. There’s a time and place for rebellion, and it’s not with her human’s appliances.
Coleman’s petition to the Minnesota Supreme court was rejected, but I keep reading the Coleman is threatening more legal action. That’s the same Coleman who said that Franken should stop the automatic recount in order to save the state money.
It is mindblowing to me that the Rethugs are so shamelessly hypercritical. They always are and I’m always flabbergasted.
It was a good first day. Mostly getting to know the place and screwing around with synching my smart phone with my computer. I have to work on a pc now. :smack: But at least it has Windows xp on it. I’m familiar with that.
Ann Coulter was scheduled to appear on the “Today” show Tuesday morning to promote her new book, “Guilty.” But it’s now been canceled, according to her website.
Who fucking buys her books anyways?? I know that various neo con groups buys them in lots and give them away for signing up for their newsletter, but really, who takes her seriously besides talk shows for the sake of ratings??

And then Harry “no spine” Reid enables them by refusing to seat Franken http://news.aol.com/article/franken-on-top-in-minn-recount-coleman/291845(you have to read far down to see this). Of course Reid wouldn’t get away with this shit if the msm didn’t help by burying this right after a quote from Reid saying that the Minnesota election is over. :growl:
T.o vernon about Richardson from yesterday.
Did you ever hear an interview with Ridhardson when he was running for president? Hopelessly naive and clueless- I can’t remember any direct quotes but really………….. 😮 I think we all agree that he seems like a nice guy and I don’t think he comes across as a crook but I can believe that he was taken advantage of by his collegues in NM and I don’t think NM has changed at all since 1976. The last two NM treasury secretaries have been convicted. (fron Ron Kuby today).
When I lived in Albuqurque I worked for a guy, Leo Dow, who was a republican state rep, who was a really nice straight-up guy. He might be the last republican I ever had any admiration for. I knew from him how crooked the whole state was. There was a rethug governor, Jerry Apodaca, crook- and a dem legislature- most, crooks.
Thanks, art. He always seemed to be pretty good at what he did, especially diplomacy, but I was definitely not impressed by his presidential campaign. I have to think even a day later that there might be some substance to the charges. Then again, I am always suspicious of the work of the current DoJ so we will see.
Meanwhile, I like the Panetta selection. He is ‘local’ and I’ve been impressed by what I have seen of him. I am sure someone will be able to set me straight.
A team source said Monday that the A’s are moving toward completing a deal with the free-agent designated hitter, who came to the big leagues with Oakland and won the AL MVP award while with the A’s in 2000. A major-league source said there’s widespread belief that a package already is in place and that an announcement could be imminent.

Sen. Al Franken … Has a nice, drive-the-wingnuts keerazy ring to it, don’t it?

It would have been fun to be in Devo. Hmmm, what’s the dorkiest thing we could possibly wear on stage. :rofl2:
So how was the first day on the job, KP?

KP, I’m glad you had a good day one. Now you get to do it all over again tomorrow.

:sammy: Sean said he always keeps a copy of an Anne Coulter book in his truck incase he gets in a bind with any righty-truckers.
🙁 :cat: :billcat: 😥
:gate: All day I have waited for Vernon to post about Willie.
At least he is out of his MISERY :growl:

Willie who? Not Willie Nelson?! :omg: ?
http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2009/01/white-house-ann.html :reaper:
So the Bush twins had the name “India” for their cat and then their chimp-moron of a dad renamed it “Willie”? Sounds about right.
I have to go make some resolutions for the new year. Maybe I’ll throw something down tomorrow on the blog.
