First off, from yesterday, SU 93, Notre Dame 74.
Next, it’s the final round of Sunday Boobleheads of the failed Bush era.
On Press the Meat, it’s soon-to-be White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel. Then there’s a wowntabew with Tom Bwokaw, NY Times dickhead David Brooks, presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, Tavis Smiley (I guess they figured they ought to have a black guy on, what with the changin’ times and all), and the sphincter-like Chuck Todd.
On Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace had House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, plus soon-to-be White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. And there will also be the usual Fuxheads, of course.
Over at the Goebbels network, George Snufalufagus hosts soon-to-be White House Senior Adviser Davis Axelrod, and then a roundtable with George :jerk: Will, political mastermind Donna Brazile, asshole Matthew Dowd, PBS’ Gwen Ifill, and the Washington Post’s E.J. Dionne.
Later, on CBS, there is no 60 Minutes tonight. Instead, it’s the AFC Championship game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaking of football, it’s the Eagles at the Cardinals in the first game this afternoon at noon Pacific Time (that one was for you, Vernon). Of course, if football isn’t your deal, there’s a bunch of pre-inaugural hoo-hah on, and HBO is providing it for free (on their website, too, if you don’t have cable or satellite).
Later tonight, it’s the season 3 premiere of Big Love, the season 2 premiere of Flight of the Conchords (both on HBO), and the series premiere of The United States of Tara on Showtime (which I already watched “On Demand,” and it’s got the potential to become a really good show). And no work tomorrow (at least for me).
Have a good Sunday, and go Eagles!
Why Starbucks? Other than their coffee sucks, of course.
Starbucks? I suppose as long as you’re protesting bad behavior (Israel) you may as well make it a twofer and protest bad taste.
I am a coffee lover. I cannot drink Starbucks’ coffee and I cannot understand why it is so popular. The lattes and their ilk are OK. But the coffee :yuck:
wowntabew? PJ?
Nice hawk photos, this morning.
Wowntabew, in honow of Tom Bwokaw.
I can’t beleive I’m actually watching Press the Meat. Trying to decide who’s a bigger asshole – David Brooks or Tom Brokaw. Gotta go with Brooks. He has high hopes that Obama will fix all those horrible entitlement programs that are killing our country – Medicare, Social Security, etc. He also hopes that Obama will truly be able to rise above the terrible partisan politics.
Keep your hands off of my abortion doughnut!

Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish is a Gazan and a doctor who has devoted his life to medicine and reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians.
But on Saturday, the day after three of his daughters and a niece were killed by Israeli fire in Gaza, Dr. Abuelaish, 53, struggled to hold on to the humane philosophy that has guided his life and work.

A federal judge on Saturday blocked oil and natural gas exploration on tens of thousands of acres of federal land in Utah, saying in an 11th-hour decision that the Interior Department had not done sufficient environmental analysis, particularly of how air quality might be degraded.
The decision by the judge, Ricardo M. Urbina of Federal District Court in Washington, granted a temporary restraining order sought by seven environmental groups to prevent oil and gas companies from taking possession of leases they had purchased Dec. 19.

OK, new HD in with a hiccup or two, now formatting, hopefully ready in time to watch the Lincoln Memorial party. I usually break in audio equipment with some NRBQ but this seems appropriate today.
My NPR station is playing the O’Bama concert. Maenwhile, BHO is speaking on my refurbie. :pup: :crossedfingers:

I started to play the SNL clip and it caused my computer to shutdown to protect itself from something. I don’t want to go back again to see what it was- something corrupted there I think. 😮
Art, I just played the SNL clip and it played through without any mayhem happening to my computer. But, it is a skit about Ann Coulter and her karma, being what it is, may be at fault anyway.
That person who played Coulter in that clip went to my high school before her parents divorced and she moved to Boston with her mother. He dad still lives here (he teaches at SU).
Syracuse has certainly done its part in providing contributing citizens. And, it didn’t spawn Coulter, herself.
OMG, I’m listening to the re-run of Meat being Pressed and I just heard David Brooks say that Obama would be a good president by “reformimg ” entitlements. That is how we will all share in the sacrifice says Mr. Brooks.
What an ass and exactly how will Brooks share in that sacrifice? Fewer pensioners will be able to buy the NY Times to read his stupid column?
No, Coulter was born in NYC, I’m afraid, though she was raised in New Canaan, Connecticut. So I guess the land-o-Lieberman can take credit for spawning her. Or at least turning her into the wretched creature she’s become. She went to Cornell, though, so upstate NY bears some responsibility.
RE #3 = don’t see why someone didn’t just get that turkey in cp a partner. Geez.
Saw an Osprey perched today and numerous bald eagles flying. This guy takes awesome photos around here. This Osprey photo is amazing. Love the Mergansers around these parts, too. It was gorgeous walking with the girls out on the spit today.

must say, I agree with Naomi Klein on this one.

“Overreactionary Wing Nuts” is right, #6.
Semiahmoo Spit and that Osprey are beauties!
I like that mid-flight osprey. It takes lots of patience and a great lens to get those photos.
Here’s a shocker. 🙄
Re 21:
Well, another aspect of that has to do with the fact that most womens’ libido is affected by stress. Men seem to use sex to escape reality and with women, reality gets in the way of sex. Money stress directly affects survival, especially when you have kids. I like how Robert Anton Wilson referred to money as “bio survival tickets”. That’s why men are always offering massages and drinks to get into a woman’s panties. “Relax baby, I give great massages”. :hubba:
It’s been a great last 24 hrs of music for me personally. We went to see the “Blue Note Allstars” last night celebrating 70 yrs of some of the greatest jazz ever recorded. Vern might have knowledge of Lewis Nash, amazing drummer, Nicholas Payton, trumpet, Ravi Coltrane, tenor sax (son of John C).
All tunes by Wayne Shorter, Art Blakey, Joe Henderson, et al.
I thought “Fencing Foxes” on SNL were wonderful, beautiful CSN&Y-like harmonies.
Then saw the great (but new to me) Bettye Lebette at the Obama extravaganza today with Jon Bon Jovi.
(we need some kind of music emot)

art, are you in DC? i LOVED watching the Jon Bon Jovi/Lebette duo, too!
#21 Now maybe it isn’t about the woman, but the man. :bee:
I recently heard of a study (on BBC) about the size of a man’s bank account and the correlation to the size of the man’s ring finger, or some such nonesense. Are they trying to do away with free will and blame things on organic destiny?
Okay, I’m angry. I watched the HBO version and was wondering what happened to the invocation by Bishop Gene Robinson. (My family is Episcopalian.) I kept thinking I must have missed something. Good old Crooks and Liars has it. The bast*rds at HBO CUT it. They also didn’t introduce the Gay Men’s Chorus (that I noticed). So much for All for One. You can contact HBO here. Boy am I mad.
4ortyniner- No, I was watching it live on HBO. That really sucks that HBO is censoring :slap: . Surprising given their adult-oriented programming. I guess they figured they had to censor it for the little people since they opened it up to the public. :slap:
