On Press the Meat, l’il Lindsey Graham lusts in his heart for Chuck Schumer. Then it’s a roundtable with CNBC’s Erin Burnett, disgraced former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, and U.S. News & World Report’s Mort Zuckerman.
Faze the Nation has Poppa John Boehner, White House Director Of Office And Budget Management, Peter Orszag, columnist Kathleen PArker, and the WaPost’s Michael Fletcher.
Weaselface Wallace has St. John McCain and Tim Kaine on Fux News Sunday, plus the usual fuxheads.
At the Goebbels network, George Snufalufagus has Claire McCaskill, Evan Bayh, dickface Richard Shelby, and the head of the US Chamber of Commerce, Thomas Donohue. The it’s a roundtable with Cokie “the hag” Roberts, George :jerk: Will, Davey the douchebag Brooks, an EJ Dionne.
Later, on 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley tells you what to do when your bank fails, and LEsley Stahl tells us why eyewitness testimony lands so many innocent people in jail.
Well, I reckon I better go and set the blog’s clock ahead an hour, or we might miss Big Love tonight. Have a good one.
A senior Vatican cleric has defended the excommunication of the mother and doctors of a nine-year-old girl who had an abortion in Brazil after being raped.
Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, head of the Catholic church’s Congregation for Bishops, told the daily La Stampa on Saturday that the twins the girl had been carrying had a right to live.

The regional archbishop, Jose Cardoso Sobrinho, pronounced excommunication for the mother for authorising the operation and doctors who carried it out for fear that the slim girl would not survive carrying the foetuses to term

He also said the accused stepfather would not be expelled from the church. Although the man allegedly committed “a heinous crime … the abortion – the elimination of an innocent life – was more serious”.

PJ, Why not use the moniker Mort *uckerman next time?
Issue Number Two!
Lincoln’s Saturday photos.
Those are lovely photos, Sue.
Sorry, art, but Sen. Shelby is starting to look a little like Bob Hope to me. Of course, Bob did his own turn at being a right wigger for a while.
Wow, did the US CoC guy just say that the current problem with health care is that there is too much government involvement in it? Am I gonna have to watch it again?
‘Schmuckerman’ works for me.
Sure enough, a little Tetrox in Steve Bradcovich’s ravioli, and he was in and out of the facilities for the rest of the day. Good times!
I assume he was an asshole jock type.

Asshole but not jock. He was two years behind me in school. When I first met him in junior high, he was just an annoying little shit. By the time he got to high school, he had evolved into a born-again christofascist annoying little shit who would pass out pamphlets and sing the praises of his lord and savior at every opportunity.
Which was probably a good thing, in that it reminded the rest of us that even though we were dorky enough to choose to spend a week at band camp, we weren’t THAT guy.
His timing was poor, though, in that by the time I was 17 I had not only long quit being an altar boy, but had denounced and rejected (I stole that phrase from Cenk Uygar) the Catholic Church and religiousity in general. My attitude was, and still is, believe whatever you want but don’t shove it in my face, and he was violating that rule big time. Not to mention I was desperately trying to get laid, and having little preacher boy around wasn’t helping me.
This is from Daily Kos, which I assume most people here check out from time to time, but this was so good I wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to read it.
Obama is (not) like Bush because…
by Jed Lewison

With every passing day, Barack Obama is more like George W. Bush…or so says Jackson Diehl, deputy editor of WaPo’s editorial page. Seriously.
Well, let’s put it to the test:
Obama is like Bush because: Obama’s first move is always to reach out to everybody willing to participate in the process, no matter what party they belong to.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama gives the political opposition every opportunity imaginable to avoid self-destruction.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama made concessions to the GOP in the stimulus on taxes (42% of the bill was tax cuts) even though almost no Republicans supported the bill.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama opposed the Iraq War from the beginning and is ending the war now that he is president.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama opposed Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy from the beginning and is rolling them back now that he is president.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama supports stem cell research.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama supports national health care reform including universal health care.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama supports regulating the mortgage market that ran amok during the Bush years.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama supports massive public investments in our national infrastucture and energy economy.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama supports reproductive freedom.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama supports transparency in government.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama wants to restore the very constitution that has been torn to shreds over the past eight years.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama’s dad wasn’t President.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama can speak in complete sentences, indeed paragraphs.
Obama is like Bush because: Obama isn’t an oil guy, and his boss isn’t Dick Cheney, another oil guy.
And that’s just for starters.
:yippee: :yippee: :yippee:
I think I left parts of my brain somewhere along the road last night. :smack:
I’m glad you like the photos, KP. I post them with the hope that those who are tired of them will just ignore them and not be annoyed.
I thought the first photo was an amazing shot. Lately, he been taking nice landscape shots of Central Park, too.
Zoo P, the Lincoln’s are always great. I know they also often migrate to where they get appreciated by others.
Lincoln’s pix are greatly appreciated here.
i’ve spent my whole life reading about the park
his pics let me vicariously wander along with a superb wildlife photographer.
I think Zoo P is particularly appropriate.
My neighbor has a video:
I didn’t mean to imply that I was puking in the street or anything. I went grocery shopping at 3:00 am not really sober, made a few bad emails afterwards and woke up today not remembering as much as I use to.
Hey Krista, I saw on the news today that Charles Barkley has been serving his three-day DUI sentence this weekend. Did Sheriff Joe make him wear the pink underwear?
Gee. I can’t remember if I walked to the store or not. I guess we’ll never know.
John McCain and Richard C. Shelby, two high-profile Republican senators, said on Sunday that the government should allow a number of the biggest American banks to fail.

Two top Republican senators called Sunday for struggling General Motors to seek bankruptcy rather than fresh government aid as the best path to a long-term recovery by America’s biggest carmaker.

I fucking hope so. But, I bet not.
eya Kristapea!
if you take what’s left of that $20 bill that got eaten to the bank chances are you can get another one for it.
used to be if it had the serial number and more than half the bill they’d give you a replacement.
