So, no matter how pissed off the world is at the US, it appears that Michelle Obama is going over quite well overseas. Good thing, ‘cuz I saw the photo of her and the other G-20 “first ladies,” and she looks like she could kick every one of their asses (and most of their husbands’) with one sleeveless arm tied behind her back (and I was afraid she was accidentally going to step on the Queen of England and squash her like a bug). The only person I can think of that Michelle might have trouble with is, is Barbara Bush (the first one), and that’s only ‘cuz Bar could ugly her to death.
Angie Harmon gave a two-part interview with Fox News, where (in part) she details all the things she just loves about being a Republican.
“I think one of the greatest things about the Republican Party is the understanding, we don’t point fingers and we have class…
Not all of us are supposed to believe the same things and think the same way,” she added. “I think the difference between the parties is, with the Democrats you can sit down with them and have a 15 minute conversation and if you’re not believing everything they say and buying into what they’re selling you, it is like you’re some dumb hick who doesn’t deserve to live here anymore. But with the Republicans, it is like okay I want to know what you know, you want to know what I know, okay great lets go have a beer after work, we’re still friends.
🙄
I’d like to see Michelle Obama kick her ass.
Suzie the cat has reappeared and has taken up residence in the sunroom. Clifford, the social ambassador, is trying to make friends.
Angie Harmon can’t act her way out of a paper bag, and got by with a smoky voice. That shows gravitas I guess. Law & Order is a holding place for wooden acting, save for a few such as D’Onofrio and Meloni. And those two are basically resting on their laurels from work on other shows such as Homicide. Blech.

We were so excited about that special Congressional election in upstate New York. Finally, a chance to find out whether the nation really approves of what Barack Obama has been doing!
You cannot figure these things out with tea leaves or polls. Just ask the Republicans in Washington. They certainly would be giving Obama more help if the country really demanded it. But what if the people who said nice things about the president to the pollsters just liked Michelle’s vegetable garden?
And who better to set us straight than the residents of a nearly 200-mile-long district that was gerrymandered so carefully for the G.O.P. that it wound up looking like an outline of Bart Simpson doing a swan dive? Or perhaps a designer boot with fire coming out of the toe.

Dawn Johnsen Has GOP Hard Liners Quaking in Their Boots. Is She the Wyatt Earp Who Could Bring Justice to Bush Era Outlaws?
Johnsen is the antithesis of George W. Bush’s OLC appointees such as John Yoo and Jay Bybee, which is what really has some folks worried. Again, quoting Neil A. Lewis:
Ms. Johnsen, a law professor at Indiana University, was an unsparing critic of memorandums, written by lawyers at the Office of Legal Counsel in the Bush administration, that said the president could largely ignore international treaties and Congress in fighting terrorists …
The [Bush Administration OLC’s] broad reading of presidential authority was “outlandish,†and the constitutional arguments were “shockingly flawed,†Ms. Johnsen has written.
Gas bombs? 😮 :omg: Aw, for chrissakes :fustrate: 😡
Apparently There was a conference scheduled for this afternoon. I found out about it when the boss called to ask why I hadn’t attended. Oh well. I guess I’ll have to do the crossword on the couch.
The main chemical in marijuana appears to aid in the destruction of brain cancer cells, offering hope for future anti-cancer therapies, researchers in Spain wrote in a study released Thursday.
The authors from the Complutense University in Madrid, working with scientists from other universities, found that the active component of marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), causes cancer cells to undergo a process called autophagy — the breakdown that occurs when the cell essentially self-digests.
