Yesterday really sucked. Had a bunch of shit go wrong that had me working until 12:30 AM (way past my bedtime, even on weekends). Things are are still wrong, and I need to try and get an early start and get into the office as soon as I can. So, this will be brief: Life sucks, and then you die. Unless you’re rich, in which case things are pretty good (relatively speaking), and then you die. If you’re rich and famous, well, watch out. June’s a killer.
It doesn’t look as if it rained last night and the sun is out this morning… definitely a change. Hubby is off to the city with Lola puppy who has a scheduled visit with the vet and I am packing for a week long vacation. I’m really excited. Last year we didn’t go anywhere because hubby spent a month in the hospital with MRSA and the rest of the summer gaining the 50 pounds he lost in that awful place. We’ll probably go to Vermont. My daughter cannot understand why we don’t plan and preset everything but what can you expect from a couple of old hippies? We do our best.
In case you’ve been wondering:
A judge has ordered New York’s split Senate into a working session but the Republican-led coalition that seized power three weeks ago promised an appeal that is likely to delay the passage of any legislation.
Gov. David Paterson has called the two squabbling factions to work every day for a week since a power struggle resulted in gridlock, with no bills passed since the June 8 overthrow.
The Democrats and the Republican-led coalition had been answering Paterson’s order by meeting separately and conducting no official business.
The factions are deadlocked 31-31 in a dispute over which has majority control. Negotiations over sharing power have failed so far.

Lincoln’s taken some portrait shots of the 2 young hawks on the westside.
Sue P- here’s wishing you and yours sunny days, good health, and the best of times all summer and onward….. :yippee:
Thank you ArtNorton.
The great state of Oklahoma has introduced a resolution to blame the recession on the anti-Christian values of the Obama administration.
I assume the recession started in anticipation of Obama’s election. How clever of it.
Arizona is seeking to protect its citizens from the scourge of universal healthcare, which I’m sure will make them all rest easier.
Perhaps I should be grateful that NY legislators are too busy squabbling to “assist” us citizens.
Minn. court rules for Franken in Senate fight
Whoever is on AAR was making a lot of hay about Franken. Don’t want to be debbie downer here but don’t forget Robert Byrd could die any day (if he has any mind left at all) and Ted Kennedy could follow him. Pawlenty hasn’t signed onto this yet and the rethugs
couldWILL cry, stamp their feet and hold their breath before Big Al is sworn in.Coleman conceded.

Senator Al Franken.

Anyone taking bets on whether or not the Factor has a guest host tonight?
:rofl2:
:dancers:  :yippee:
Senator “Big Al” Franken!!
Finally, a professional comedian will take his rightful place with all the amateurs
Senator Al Franken.
Say it once and it’s just like dreaming,
Say it twice and O’Reilly’s screaming!
Say it once and the Left is sighing,
Say it twice and now Rush is crying!
I wonder if my set of Al Franken trading cards went up in value today. I have a full set (although not autographed by Al).
And a special cheer for Amy Klobuchar, who gets to go back to being one senator, as opposed to two senators with one vote. Thanks Amy!
Al better smile when he refers to her as the SENIOR senator from Minnesota. 😀
art,
I was just taking the repug stand, just act like it is a fact and maybe everybody else will buy it. Meanwhile, I am surprised that Coleman gave up but I imagine he and Pawlenty had a heart to heart that if either of them was to have a political future he had to concede.
A little late to the party (had my head buried in a computer all day), but congrats to Al “King of the Jews” Franken. Finally. A shame there aren’t really 60 Democrats in the Senate. Lucky to come up with 48.
My neck was doing quite well, up until yesterday. Now it’s killing me again. An 18 hour day followed by an 11 hour day is too much for an old bastid like me.
At least W. Va. and Mass. have Dem govs if the worst should happen. I hear there is maneuvers going on now in WV.
Robert Byrd is related to me on my mother’s side of the family, in some sort of convoluted way that I’m not sure of. My mom wrote him a letter way back when, and got a very nice response from him. Which, sadly, is long gone.
I am from W. Va. so I am sure he is related to me. I am related to Senator Jennings Randolph whose son was a sportscaster who I don’t think went to SU. I am also somehow related to George King who might find interesting.
Syracuse Nationals – (top row, left to right) Red Rocha, Jim Tucker, John Kerr, Earl Lloyd, Dolph Schayes; (bottom row, left to right) Capt. Paul Seymour, Bill Kenville, Wally Osterkorn, Dick Farley, George King, Coach Al Cervi.
I’m just glad I was wrong.
It was the bright spot (so far) of a shitty week.
The message I got from my performance review today is that they’ll micromanage you (after 30 yrs of trust), they’ll discount whatever you do above and beyond your job description, and they’ll “round-down” in order to make everyone who’s close to a ‘4’ be a ‘3’.
I really look forward to retiring and not having to give a shit what some corporate clone thinks.
CONGRATULATIONS SENATOR-ELECT AL FRANKEN!! :yippee:
He worked really hard to get there – a very deserving fellow.
****
Add to # 5 to this little gem and well, I just can’t think about it too much:
:paranoid:
vern, re 18, you’re just trying to keep in good stead with the blog-daddy.
Have a good vacation, sp. I’m headed north in a.m. Cooler weather, here I come!
You gotta love the Nats. Very integrated, for the early 50’s (and Dolph Schayes was a Jew; not a lot of Jewish NBA Hall-of-Famers out there).
That’s right, OKat, I am a big pj suck-up.
art, that is just standard operating procedure these days. I lost my last job in part because I refused to alter my performance reviews on a team of very good to excellent employees of long standing at the company. They need cover for whatever manipulations they want to execute be it no raises to dismissals.
I am sure you will be fine but it sure is a great ‘motivational’ technique as I am sure you will admit. I got a negative review 9 months after getting promoted just so they could shave a bonus 40%. To boot it was the day one of my sisters died. I continued to work there for 3+ more years but they lost my heart and never got blood again. Stupid waste to save a few $K.
I thank you all for being kind to me, and for indulging my Syracusiosities.
And if you could go to the Espy Awards and vote for the SU-UConn six OT game as the game of the year, and The Express as the sports movie of the year, I’d be most appreciative.
I love the Syracuriosity. It’s great to be able to have pride in your home.
 :cold:        :yippee: :kissing ass: :rofl2:
I now have Al Franken and Keith Ellison, to balance out Michele Bachmann.
You notice the passage of time when you realize that Danny Schayes has also been long gone from the NBA. I bet PJ knows that all too well
vern- Thanks for#23 yesterday. It helped
