My unabashedly liberal activity yesterday was calling Inhoff’s office yesterday. :fustrate:
The woman on the other end was the rudest person one could imagine. Talking about health care, her response was the rethug matra, “How do we pay for it?” I stated that Inhoff voted for every single bill Bush put in front of him to fund the Iraq war and he never asked that question. We give $1000.00 cash in micro-grants to Iraqis every day and the Senator has never questioned that.
She replied, “They are our allies.” I said, “Aren’t the American people your ally?” She asked me my age in disgust implying I was young and naive. Oh lordy, she was the most mean-spirited individual. And you know I’ve talked to her kind in Georgia. Oh my.
They hate government health care unless they are on Medicare (haven’t met one Rethug who has turned THAT down when they become of age) and it’s okay to let the government decide what happens to a pregnant woman’s body….I just can’t stand it sometimes. :slap:
My ex-stepmother was of that ilk from Georgia, xtian in no form known to my lapsed faith. Strangely her bigoted self was here with my Dad during their brief marriage at the time of Waco so I got to know what a religious wack-a-doodle she was.
Today is the 4th anniversary of Katrina. I must say I may be more disappointed with O’Bama with his failure to go down there today even though now he has an excuse. Now he’s saying later. At least more is getting done.
The reason Rethugs claim to be so religious is so that they can substitute praying for doing anything truly humane. They are the most un-Christian Christians. And, in general, they ain’t the sharpest bunch. They are the loudest, however.
That cartoon is perfect. I saw it yesterday at work while I was checking my email on break, and almost cried. Which is unusual, because most of the time I only cry at work when I look at my paycheck.
Another Teddy story from work. I mentioned to someone in an email Thursday afternoon that I was annoyed because the company hadn’t lowered the flag to half-staff. About an hour later I looked outside and, wouldn’t you know it, all three flags had been lowered. Apparently they got the word from corporate. Or maybe the facility-maintenance guy is reading my email again.
Nice tribute, pj.

Inhoffe is likely the most anti-intellectual Senator and it must rub off on everyone around him.
I have hated Imhoff since he tipped in the go ahead points against WVU in the NCAA National Championship in 1959.

Oklahoma tomorrow………
Watch your back there, Sean, especially if you’re passing through Norman. You know they named it after Bates, right? 😉
