A mere nine years and two presidents into the war in Afghanistan, and things couldn’t be going better. But what to do next? More troops? Have our drones blow up a few more wedding parties? What’s a Nobel Peace Prize winner to do? To answer that question, Press the Meat has Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, Sen. Carl Levin ferocious warrior Lindsey Graham, Barry McCaffrey, and former Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, Richard Myers. At the roundtable, it’ll be the National Journal’s Ron Brownstein, WSJ hack Paul Gigot, BBC America’s Katty Kay, and former journalist Bob Woodward.
Over on Faze the Nation, it’s the US Senate version of Frank Burns, chinless ferret face, Mitch McConnell, Jack Reed, David Ignatius of the WaPost, and Iraq War cheerleader Michael O’Hanlon of the Brookings Institution.
At Fux News, whiny Weaselface Wallace looks at the economy with Steve Wynn, Chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts,
Gov. Jennifer Granholm of Michigan, Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana, and Mark Zandi of Moody’s Economy.com. Then it’s a fucktacular panel of fuxheads with Bill Kristol, Nina Easton, the evil spawn of evil, Liz Cheney, and token Juan Williams. Plus the “Power Player of the Week,” Deborah Hersman, Chairman of the NTSB.
On the Goebells network, it’s Generals, Democrats, DINO’s, and thugs, as George Snufalufagus has DINO Dianne Feinstein, Rethuglican Senator Saxby Chambliss, Jim McGovern of MA, who’s introduced a bill that would require the Obama Administration to submit an exit strategy in Afghanistan, and retired general Jack “the surge” Keane. Then it’s a roundtable with Arianna Huffington, former Bush Communications Director Nicolle Wallace, Donna Brazile and George :jerk: Will.
At CNN, Fareed Zakaria talks Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Diamond industry.
Later, on 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley hangs out with a U.S. Marine company in Helmand Province – part of Peace President Barack Obama’s troop buildup in Afghanistan. Bob Simon looks at new studies showing that athletes who suffered many blows to the head, became brain damaged (gee, there’s a news flash; they needed studies to figure that out?). And Steve Kroft reports on the Birdmen – men who don wing suits, jump off mountain tops and glide at speeds of 140 miles per hour. And occasionally wind up dead. Looks pretty cool, though.
Have a good Sunday.
From Frank Rich:
Let’s be clear: Those who demanded that America divert its troops and treasure from Afghanistan to Iraq in 2002 and 2003 — when there was no Qaeda presence in Iraq — bear responsibility for the chaos in Afghanistan that ensued. Now they have the nerve to imperiously and tardily demand that America increase its 68,000-strong presence in Afghanistan to clean up their mess — even though the number of Qaeda insurgents there has dwindled to fewer than 100, according to the president’s national security adviser, Gen. James Jones.

Fux News was egregiously bad and has Lizzzz Cheney on the panel now
She suggested that Obama instead send a carcass of one of the soldiers her dad had killed to accept the Nobel for Obama. In other words, she sickens me.
Nina (Sheena) Easton treats Obama like a 7 year-old grade-schooler saying little Barry will not progress if he gets too much encouragement. In other words, she sickens me.
Billy (Howard Cosell) Kristol appears yet again on the panel. In other words, he sickens me.
Juan Williams happens to be in the cross-fire, as I suffer a case of sympathetic vomiting.
WHT, may I suggest that your nausea will be greatly diminished if you do not watch these dopes. I gave it up years ago.
This just brings tears to my eyes.
 :yippee:
Soupy,
But .. but .. but PJ keeps egging me on by plastering the schedule on his blog post.
WTFWMMD?
:fist: Death to Faux news via ridicule.
Let lil’ pj be lil’ pj.
Nice to see Vern’s alter ego, once again. A little posting competition should be fun.
I only watch Press the Meat when Rachel’s on and a little Fareed when he’s got a good guest but I always enjoy a bon mot from pj like “the US Senate version of Frank Burns, chinless ferret face, Mitch McConnell”
:rofl2:
This weeks favorite of mine is “former journalist Bob Woodward.”
I remember when Palin told us that her son, Tripp(?) would be denied health care by Obama’s death panel. Now I learn that a 4 month old baby is being denied healthcare because, at 17 pounds, he’s too fat. No death panel needed. Healthcare for profit will do that job.

You know, I gave that moniker up because I never want to see Roxie drop off the list (there are a few others I wouldn’t mind so much).
I saw someone use WWMcD today and and that gave me paws. ‘What would McCain do?’
WTFWMMD-beats me.
little known fact on pj’s line-up: video on that show will be from Mr. Fk & Carlos’ “adventures.”
I still haven’t recovered from reading pj’s recent post the other day:
Spent the morning out at a drilling rig. We went with a family friend who is a geologist. Went out to the Arbuckles. Fascinating. So far, they have drilled 2 miles down in the earth, drilling through rock that is 440,000 million years old. Most oil comes from 65 million year old rock. The rock formation in the Arbuckles, in some areas, is vertical rather than horizontal. Evidently South America rammed up against us and forced the rocks up and vertical. South America then drifted south again. The Arbuckle mountains were taller than Everest at one time. He said we are long over due for an ice-age. Talked about the albedo affect as an issue with burning fossil fuels. We humans are a flash in the pan on this here ole earth.
I don’t know much about geology yet, but I think I can recall that it’s the K-T line that marks the 65 million-year-old period of the dinosaurs’ mass extinction.
This is some greatness right here! :peace:

Regarding the oil situation, I got interviewed by this financial analyst radio guy named ZapataGeorge last week.
You can find it here on the October 3 edition:

It is a fascinating topic if it wasn’t so depressing.
They’re making jokes, and those jokes are incredibly juvenile.

I would like to thank the academy for passing 1000.
Good WTF podcast with David Cross. I liked the story about Marc’s elderly kind neighbor Mary who screams obscenities behind closed doors. Brendan had the all-time brilliant comeback at the end. … “What if there were actual whores and … “ :rofl2:
:peace:
Blue Angels flew today for Fleet
Enema/BankWeek. The fog shut them down yesterday.Speaking of birdmen, if the weather works out I will be out very early to Alcatraz for the annual PATHSTAR swim to SF on one of the accompanying boats. I will try to take some pics if not :yuck: :barf:
Angry Chef fans, an NPR story about the source for Marc’s cured pork meat guanciale, and his t-shirt.
