Press the Meat has creepy Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi, and Gov. Ed Rendell of Pennsylania.
Faze the Nation has Governor-elect of VA, Bob McDonnell, plus members of both Congressional armed forces committees: from the Senate, he’s got Jack Reed and l’il Lindsey Graham, and from the House it’s Ike Skelton. Also on, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Democrat of Florida, and Ed Rollins, a Republican political consultant.
On Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace has Mike Pence, Republican of Indiana, and Chris Van Hollen, Democrat of Maryland. Plus Bob McDonnell.
At the Goebbels network, George Snufalufagus has Gov. Tim Kaine of Virginia, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and Bozo the Clown, Michael Steele to talk about the 2010 midterm elections, health care and the economy.
CNN’s State of the Union has General George Casey, the Army Chief of Staff, to discuss the shootings at the military base in Ft. Hood, Tex., combat stress, and the war in Afghanistan, plus Mikhail Gorbachev, to talk about the fall of the Berlin Wall 20 years ago.
On CNN’s GPS, Fareed Zakaria discusses the Afghanistan and Pakistan – including Hamid Karzai, and the prospects for peace in the region – with Pervez Musharraf, former president of Pakistan.
So, the House managed to pass a version of Health Care Reform last night (at least, I think they did; word was they had the votes, but I had to call it a night before the final tally) – in part due to the leadership of the President, and also in part due to Bill Owens, the newest Congressman in the House, who showed the chickenshit Democrats that you don’t have to run as a fake Republican to win an election. As flawed as the bill is, I reckon I’m happy that it passed, mostly because it helps to put the Republican Party in its place.
Republicans are the party of Satan. And everybody knows you gotta keep the devil way down in the hole.
One Republican, Anh (Joseph) Cao from New Orleans, voted yes. he did so with Rethug Whip Eric Cantor standing beside him.
Here’s Cao’s statement:
“Tonight, I voted to keep taxpayer dollars from funding abortion and to deliver access to affordable health care to the people of Louisiana.
I read the versions of the House [health reform] bill. I listened to the countless stories of Orleans and Jefferson Parish citizens whose health care costs are exploding – if they are able to obtain health care at all. Louisianans needs real options for primary care, for mental health care, and for expanded health care for seniors and children. […]
Today, I obtained a commitment from President Obama that he and I will work together to address the critical health care issues of Louisiana including the FMAP crisis and community disaster loan forgiveness, as well as issues related to Charity and Methodist Hospitals. And, I call on my constituents to support me as I work with him on these issues.
Cao said: “I have always said that I would put aside partisan wrangling to do the business of the people. My vote tonight was based on my priority of doing what is best for my constituents.”

I can hear Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh calling him “Chairman Cao.” By the way, I officially claim copyright on that, if they do.
Damn, looks like I’m at least seven months too late.
If you really want to control abortion, regulate seMEN.
Of COURSE. But there is always billions for Israel and billions for big Pharma. But money for Americans? Hell freaking No, says the creep who famously told rape victims they could take a short cab ride in search of a hospital that offers emergency contraception.
All of Greta’s ‘work’ couldn’t fix that mouth.
If you really want to control abortion, regulate seMEN.

Three observations:
1) If men got pregnant, abortions would be free.
2) A fetus is “sacred life,” but a two-year-old who needs a kidney transplant has to die if the parents can’t afford it. I’m still waiting for some right-wing shithead to explain to me why this makes sense.
3) If suddenly the righties get to decide which legal procedures they choose not to fund, I get to do the same with illegal procedures. Somebody tell Bush and Cheney I want my share of Iraq war funding back. NOW.
:fu:
I often hear #1. I think Gloria Steinem gets the credit for the “if men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament” quote. Always wondered why, if that’s the case, about the same percentage of men and women think abortion should be illegal.
I guess it’s just that men are horrible.
Why do so many women wear the hajib? Why does the pay cap continue to exist? Why are there only 2 women of 9 Supreme Court Justices when women are the majority? Why are there only 17 of 100 U.S. Senators? Why do nuns put up with crap from the Vatican? Why is the First Lady not paid a salary?
PATRIARCHY
(pj, not all men are horrible.)
That may all be true, but doesn’t really explain to me why more or less half of women feel it’s OK for the State to deny them choice.
White folks have been running the show for quite a while, but I’d be really surprised if half the black folks thought slavery (or Jim Crow) was a good idea.
For many right wingers the regulation of abortion is really regulation of sex. Thus the sacred fetus vs. the dying 2 year old.
I wonder how Governor Lazio will feel about all this.
Michael Steele, Log Cabin Republicans, Teabaggers: all folks who vote against their interest. It is odd. Agreed. SP, so maybe those women never take initiative in the boudoir?
Anyone know a mouse’s homing radius? I’m house/dogs sitting and a mouse was in the trash compacter and couldn’t get out (a fresh bag, uncompacted). Caught the little bugger. Relocated him to a nice park a mile or so away. Translocation may not mean survival, but stuffed in the garbage bag surely meant death. But will she come back? :billcat:
I think a mile is a very long walk for a mouse. Don’t they hide in burrows? They must stay within a small radius if that’s true.
