Looks like it’s really goddamn cold all over the country this morning – at least everywhere east of the Rockies. It’s 14 degrees in New Orleans right now. There’s snow, sleet, and freezing rain in Florida. The Midwest, well, it’s double digits below zero there (as usual). It’s 10° here right now, which wouldn’t be all that bad if it wasn’t so windy. At least it isn’t snowing (though we’re supposed to get 2-5 today). All in all, a good day to stay inside and watch football.
It’s cold everywhere. That global warming must be a hoax.
Teabaggers have been sending this cartoonist death threats.
:cold: Still have ice-covered deck and patio and some snow decorating the yard, all left over from Christmas. Has anyone heard from Inhoff lately? :sammy:
It’s a balmy 36 degrees in St Pete this afternoon, but the drizzle has stopped and the wind isn’t blowing at the moment, so being outside is negotiable in moderate doses. But I’m going back in as soon as I snag some beer.
And Blazing Saddles is on AMC right NOW! “Nowhere special. I always wanted to go there.”
Today’s paper was an ode to the hypocritical. First I learned that Howard Safir, the former fire and then police commissioner under Giuliani, backed his car into a pregnant women and drove away. Then I learned that Michael Farren, a top aide in 3 Rethug administrations, (aka the family values crowd) is being charged with attempted murder for an attack on his wife. And finally, I read about a blogger, Shmarya Rosenberg, devotes his time to blogging about the very immoral behavior of the ultra orthodox Jews.
But, 15 chihuahuas made it to NYC where they are sort after, from California shelters where they are many and without prospective adopters.
Oh, and if you are considering flying you might what to know that there is a debate about whether the new x-ray scanners will increase the number of cancers unacceptably. The individual dosage of a scan is quite small, the the cumulative amount of radiation in the terminal…that’s another question.
I should give up newspapers, I think.
I keep hearing that certain scans using radiation are so minuscule it doesn’t matter. “It’s like being in the sun or on an airplane, no problem.” Me wonders, at what point does the cumulative effect matter?
