We all know that Arizona Republicans hate Mexicans. Sadly, they also hates kids. Well, Mexican kids, anyway. And now they’re trying to pass a bill that would deny birth certificates to children born of undocumented immigrants (aka, those godless Mexicans). AZ Governor Jan “Prune Puss” Brewer says they can just “take their kids back” to Mexico. This is all just crazy talk, since the US Constitution’s 14th Amendment is pretty clear in saying…
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States
And of course all Republicans are “strict Constitutionalists”, so they’d never go for it.
Crossing paths with Maron while I was doing my power walk around Aspen probably did nothing to change his possible suspicion that I’m a stalker but it confirmed Mrs’ Arts conviction that I have some sort of psychic power. In truth, it’s a small town and it was raining so not very many people out. I do regret not offering him some hot choclate or a cup of coffee but I’m sure he had other things on his mind.
Last nights show was great. The audience was with Marc early on and when the staff gave him the five minute signal, he gave about fifteen minutes more of the strongest stuff of the night, a lot of it new. There were a lot of younger “kids” in the audience (anyone under 30 is a ‘kid’ to me)- one was just sixteen- and they crowded around him in the lobby afterwards. Mrs. Art and I both got a big hug (she got a kiss on the cheek too) and took a picture for our memories. If I can figure out how, I’ll post a picture here.
I meant to hand him a poem that I had had copied out afterwards but I was so startled to be talking to him that I handed him my ticket receipt. I’m like a 61 yr old schoolgirl :billcat:
Anyway, it was a great Marc Maron weekend :banana:
I’m leaving tomorrow, and probably won’t be back until September. I might be able to post every two or three weeks from the island though.

We are a bit west of Omaha, for the night. So far we’ve seen lots of cows, some horses, more birds than on previous trips, and several Obama signs but no McCain Palin signs. Perhaps the Repubs have scraped them off their bumpers. Many fewer places have newspapers of any kind and I have not seen a New York Times, anywhere. But, there is wifi everywhere so I get to read the paper. No crossword, of course.

Had to turn around yesterday. Hit water up to my bumper. Thankfully I did. They closed I35 not long after.
