I’m not much of a Joan Rivers fan. Although she’s kind of a pioneer in terms of comedic women (not exactly Lucy, but she’s been out there doing her thing for an awfully long time), I’ve always found her to be kind of annoying, her voice grates on me, and looking at her these days kind of creeps me out. Still, if she’s been banned from Fux News for saying Sarah Palin “is just stupid and a threat,” and that “FOX can “go f**k themselves” (not sure what the *s stand for – “o” an “r” maybe?), then I’m on board. I guess. I mean, it’s kind of stating the obvious (as Rivers put it, “Wait till I REALLY shock them with Aretha Franklin is a bit chubby!”). And wears big dumb hats, I might add. Poor Sarah: a victim yet again. I just don’t see how anybody could suggest that an eternal victim could ever be Preznit. I mean, when Vladimir Putin pokes his head over the Bering Strait, we want somebody strong in office to give him the stink eye. Not some whiny bitch. That’s why Joe Lieberman never won.
Speaking of victims, everyone’s favorite action hero and Shriver-in-law, Arnold “Ziffel” Schwarzenegger, is lamenting the fact that being Governor of California cost him $200 million (no word on how much it cost the State of California). Never mind the money, though. The hard part was “Sunday nights when his wife and children broke out in tears because he had to fly back to Sacramento the next morning.”
Thank goodness Maria’s face didn’t shatter.
I can relate, because pretty much every Sunday night, I break down and sob at the thought that I have to go to work on Monday morning, too.
Then again, I’m not too crazy about the fact that I have to there today, either.
Yesterday it got up to 45. And, it has rained for the past two days so the middle of the streets and the middle of the sidewalks are now clear of snow. But, between the sidewalk and the street the 6 foot mounds of snow have been reduced to 2 – 4 foot mounds of snow and they are black with soot. All the things like the half eaten frankfurter and the torn bag of garbage that had been snowbound now have appeared again. But they are mushier and rotted.
However, we’ve had enough of the wonderful balmy weather and it is once again cold and windy and guess what…it’s going to snow again tonight.
One good thing, the rain washed all the cars which were full of dirt and salt.
Two and a half hours to drive 19 miles home from Boulder yesterday. Trucks were stopping in the middle of the highway to chain up just to get over the hill south out of town :omg:
mornin, just listening to Sam.
Gail Collins:
“I can’t help but also think about my four grandparents and the journey they traveled more than a century ago,†he said in his speech. “Even they could not have dreamed that their grandson would end up a United States senator and, incidentally, a barrier-breaking candidate for vice president.â€
Lieberman has reached a point in his public career when every single thing he does, including talking about his grandparents, is irritating. Last month, when he helped lead the fight for the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell,†some people seemed more than a tad resentful at having to give up complaining about him for the duration of the debate. “Of course, he wants gay people in the military,†wrote Alex Pareene at Salon.com, “He wants everyone in the military.â€

GHSA executive director Barbara Harsha said her organization doesn’t know why there were more deaths in the first six months of 2010 than in 2009, but the increase is notable because overall traffic fatalities went down 8 percent during this period, and the increase ends four straight years of steady declines in pedestrian deaths.
But the “get moving†movement, led by Obama’s “Let’s Move†campaign to eliminate childhood obesity, could be to blame, Harsha told The Washington Examiner.
“There’s an emphasis these days to getting fit, and I think people doing that are more exposed to risk [of getting hit by a vehicle],†said Harsha, who conceded to having no scientific evidence that the Let’s Move campaign has led to an increase in walkers and runners, or deaths.
“This is all speculative,” Harsha said. “Obviously, further study is needed.”

Conan tonight
Thanks, art. I think it works. I watched through it including lots of glitches so I look forward to watching again.
Looking at the schedule, it appears that Maron is the headliner. I don’t think he’s ever been first up before. :yippee:
Conan’s coming to Maron’s garage.
I think it’s William H. Macy who’s the headliner
Wow1 Down goes KO! Olbermann has left the building, presumably escorted.
