I haven’t fired up the MacBook Pro in quite a while (since the trackpad went nuts for the second time), so I thought I’d fire it up and see if it magically healed itself. Naturally, there were massive software updates to install (Windows has nothing on Windows when it comes to updates these days), and as usual I told it to not bother with iTunes, ‘cuz I think iTunes sucks and I want nothing to do with it. While the updates are installing and the thing is rebooting (again, Windows has nothing on Apple when it comes t requiring a reboot), I thought I’d see about uninstalling iTunes once and for all.
Oy. Lots of steps. Nothing difficult, of course, but, geez, not the simple process that it ought to be. If the trackpad isn’t still insane, I’ll have to see if I have time to get rid of it.
another view: I have a new Dell laptop with Windows 7 at work. It’s buggy and is an overprotective piece of equipment. It doesn’t want me to do anything it does not deem “safe.” Can’t stand the thing compared to my Macbook Pro.
Hubby got me an IPad for Mother’s day. I’m just beginning to figure it out. I’m thinking about getting the Times online. I really like having a real newspaper but, when we travel, it’s not always possible to find it. The crossword comes with the deal. We shall see.
‘Tis pouring outside. Making lots of rainy noise. It’s cold, too. Bleh!
Yep, I like the MacBook Pro. Well, except the trackpad stopped clicking a long time ago. I guess that’s fairly standard. And then the trackpad kinda went nuts. I guess that’s pretty common, too. Then it got better, so that was good. But then it went nuts again.
Haven’t had the pleasure of Windows 7, but would be happy to give it a try if somebody wants to buy me one, just to see how it is (Windows Vista was pretty annoying, from what I understand, though 7 gets pretty good grades all the way around). Of course, I’m pretty certain I could configure it to not bother me (assuming my company didn’t have it all locked down – but as an IT guy, they know better than to try).
I don’t really have any personal attachment to computers or operating systems, though I know some people do. I tend to think people often overlook or just don’t notice things about the devices they like.
I really think iTunes blows. The iPads and iPhones are nice, but I just don’t like the way they’re limited by Apple. Be happy to take one if somebody’s buying (tried to get one through work for “development purposes,” but that didn’t fly).
If I had the money, I’d get an Android device, because they’re open. I’d also really like to get a Chrome laptop when they come out in June.
But, no money for that, either.
I would also like to build a new desktop (lack of money once again). Don’t use mine very often these days, but it’s getting very, very old, and annoying to use. I’d like to get something nice and fast and put Linux on it. Kind of tired of all the corporate stuff.
eya gang!
linux rules! )

Can you say Beach Boys? 🙁 :gate:
Oh man, I need to quit drinking. I’m too old for that shit.
I have class today and didn’t sleep more than an hour. I wasn’t sick but I have a massive headache.
There’s this flippin’ woodpecker destroying my place too. A bunch of insulation that damn bird yanked out of the house is in the yard waiting for me to clean it up. WTF.
John Stewart debated Bill O’Reilly on the issue of the rapper Common’s inclusion in a Whitehouse Poetry reading. I often have trouble embedding these videos, so here’s the link:

Needless to say, Stewart did very well.
