In the wake of Weinergate, Salon has an article (written by a woman named Tracy Clark-Flory – I’m aways dubious of people with hyphenated names) this morning asking “why do men take crotch shots?” The answer, of course, is “they don’t.” They don’t any more than couples kidnap young girls and hold them hostage for 18 years or “women” don’t wear panties and flash their crotches to the paparazzi while getting out of limousines (or yearn for artificial insemination so they can have octuplets). Are there weirdos and creeps out there? Certainly. Do they get way, way, WAY too much attention? Yes they do. Of course, Tracy doesn’t say all men do – she says many men do, which is the equivalent of the old “some say…” lazy method of interviewing. Of course, she offers no statistics for this phenomenon, but I suppose that, in a world of a few billion people, “many” is a pretty easy threshold to reach.
As for Anthony, who knows what his deal is? He seems to be reluctant to state that the photo isn’t his – only that he didn’t send it to the person in question. So I’ll take him at his word, since he doesn’t seem like a complete moron (though you never know, I guess). Maybe he likes to keep pictures of himself around to send to his wife. Who knows? But it sounds like Breitbart is involved somehow.
Speaking of not keeping your crotch properly restrained, John Edwards is set to get indicted or something today. It really doesn’t sound like he’s done anything “criminal” to me – just dumb. But we’ll see.
Oh well, it’s been a long week, and I’m glad it’s (almost) over with.
Yesterday was my last day of school so summer has begun for me. And, to celebrate I have an awful case of poison ivy.
Aisle one: light bulbs. Aisle two: plumbing supplies. Aisle three: duck.
A mother duck opted to move out of her swamp residence and nestle her home — eggs and all — among the gardening supplies inside a Maine Home Depot store.
Instead of escorting the duck off the premises, Home Depot employees have been taking care of the bird and trying to give her some peace of mind.

OK, so I ordered something and they are (sadly) shipping it FedEx. It was two-day free delivery, or one-day for $3.99 (per item, and there are 3 items, so it would have been $12 and I really didn’t need it until tomorrow anyway).
So, it started out in Bethlehem PA, from which (or where) it departed at 6:20 PM last night. And I thought, well, maybe it’ll surprise me and show up in one day anyway.
Then it made it’s way to Newark, NJ, where it arrived at 8:46 PM last night. So far, so good.
However, it didn’t leave Newark until 7:37 AM this morning, so probably not gonna get here today. Especially since – according to the crack FedEx tracking, it arrived at 8:44 AM – in Memphis, TN.
Memphis, TN? That’s not exactly on a straight line between Newark and here, but the fact that it could go from Newark to Memphis in 67 minutes is pretty impressive. That’s roughly 850 miles per hour (never mind loading, unloading, and all that).
I commend the HD employees for their duck treatment. The reporter for this story, however? Not so much.
The light bulbs at HD are NOT in the next aisle over from the plumbing (not even in Oklahoma, I suspect – though I suppose the recent tornadoes could have shaken things up a bit). And neither light bulbs nor plumbing supplies are in the outdoor section with the lawn and garden stuff (where, clearly, this duck is roosting – assuming that ducks roost, that is).
Very sloppy journalism there. Unless, of course, Oklahoma is different. In which case, my bad.
I can see Andy Griffith, commie pinko, is not a patriot. Now Michele Bachman would have listened to the tape and sworn both god and the constitution made her do so.
I only know where the bulbs are at Lowes. The owner of HD lives in etlana and huge thug supporter. As I recall he gave a 1/2 mil towards W’s inauguration party (that’s from memory so may be wrong, I’m too tired to look at up.)
feel better sp!
Yep, but Lowes is even worse than HD, and Target hates gay people. So whattya gonna do?
Never heard Lowes was worse. Do tell.
me neither
Home Depot Founder: Retailers Who Don’t Support GOP “Should Be Shot”
So, like, I don’t wanna be shot shoppin’ for light bulbs [insert Tommy gun].
Drunk as a skunk at Neumos.
Well, in the 2008 election cycle, Home Depot’s PAC gave 45% to Democrats and 55% to Republicans. Lowes PAC gave 28% to Democrats and 72% to Republicans.
It was about even in 2010, though. And HD has a lot more money.
Personally, I prefer to go to my locally-owned hardware stores – particularly the one that’s been here since 1888 and served the mills that used to be along the creek here. Their proximity evens out the higher costs, and they also sell gas, diesel, and kerosene at fairly decent prices.
I have no idea what their political affiliations are, nor their stance on social issues. I’m pretty sure they’re non-union, though. And, sadly, I can’t get everything I need there.
The other place in town is a newcomer – they’ve only been around since 1946.
Nice people, all of them.
Thanks. Not as bad but… We have a nice small local ‘chain’ of hardware stores here that are a little more expensive but usually more than sufficient. Lowes only recently moved in on the other side of town in a somewhat impoverished area and did make a point of hiring a lot of people from the community.
