OK, can we stop hearing about Anthony Weiner already? Yeah, yeah, it was funny for a couple of days, but it’s stopped being funny now, and he’s gone (hoist by his own petard, so to speak. OK, that was the last one), so enough already. As Josh Marshall wrote yesterday (and as echoed by 92-yr old “Esther” who said “[p]eople get away with worse…. Everybody has hangups”):
I get that it’s icky and makes people cringe. But c’mon. I’ve been following congressional scandals for 15 years. And my God in the grand scheme of things this is pretty silly compared to the levels of wrongdoing, thievery and vicious behavior we’ve all seen. And that disconnect — the most insistent and open demands for resignation ever compared to one of the silliest scandals ever — just doesn’t sit right with me. Especially when, last time we checked at least, his constituents did not want him to resign.
So, anyway, enough already.
Father’s Day is coming up this weekend. Unlike Mother’s Day, this is a Hallmark Holiday whose importance ranks about even with Columbus Day. However, should you be inclined to celebrate, I have it on good authority that Dad wants a backhoe for his tractor this year. Actually, he wants a mini-excavator, but he understands that, while he scrimped and saved and deprived himself so you could have the very best, you’re an ungrateful little wretch who probably won’t even bother to call, let alone get him something that isn’t useless (if you get him anything at all).
One kid who won’t have to worry about Father’s Day is Michael Gallow, who yesterday plead guilty yesterday to shooting his father “between the eyes” back in March.
All things considered, I guess a tie wouldn’t be so bad after all.
But before you ignore your poor old man (or you poor old men out there get ignored yourselves), we have to get through today. And if today is like the rest of this week, it’s gonna suck.
Oh, and back on this date in 1967, “Respect” was the #1 song.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T. This hat sure looks dumb on me….
OK, you can go after Apple and BB but do you really want to fook with Aretha?
I never mentioned Aretha. If you think of her at the mention of stupid-looking hats, I can’t be held accountable.
Thanks for all the help
The actual (Republican) nominee is unimportant because if the economy is on the upswing with some reason for optimism, Obama will be reelected. If it is not, he won’t. That is why Republicans are so desperate to cause a new recession.
It is not that they all flunked Economics 101. Nor is it that the same people, who said nothing as Reagan tripled the national debt and George Jr. doubled it, have suddenly gotten religion when it comes to the deficit. It is why they are playing chicken with the credit rating of the U.S. Government as they drag their feet on raising the debt ceiling. And it is why they refuse to confirm the President’s choices for a number of key economic policy decision-making positions.

Thanks Vernon.
I was driving through wester Kansas last night listening to “No Good Time Fairies” and tried looking her up on Wikipedia and didn’t see anything past 2003.
Was kind of shocked to see that she’d traveled to Hazraht Inyat Khan’s darga in India to sing and then there was nothing more. The Yoga page didn’t come up on my IPhone. Guess she thought the idea of singing in nightclubs for people who don’t know how to listen had gotten kind of stale.
Maron tonight- first time in Denver. :yippee:
At the Comedy Works which I swore I would never go to again because of the nazi-like atmosphere 👿 and the shitty servers. :fu:
I’ll be there because I’m living in my own fantasy world where I think I kind of know (but not on a personal level) a lesser-known, very talented comedian/personality/artist who has taken a very engaging talk-show from his garage to a fair amount of recognition and is trying to create a teevee show based on his fantasy of a comedian who does a talk-show from his garage supported by people who have more or less shared a little of that life going back to when Morning Sedition made a cameo appearance on the radio in “Six Feet Under”. :billcat:  ……………………………….,
but still,
The Comedy Works is 👿
I have a lot of grievances with people and establishments but seeing Maron trumps them. I think he is overdue over here. Say hello.
You got it. :fire:
Had you ever heard of Ann Dyer or did you just Google it?
I thought she was a very unique talent and her band too. I loved how the angularity of the guitar player was so perfectly suited to the angularity of her voice.
I’ve have Revolver around here somewhere but I did Google it. Now I’ll dig in a little more when I get a chance.
Edit-listening now.
Yeah, art, tell him we all (well, I guess “all” is kind of stretching it a bit these days) say hello.
I asked him for a shout-out to MS last year in Aspen. I think I remember him saying he would- but we all know he’s talking to a lot of people every day trying to make a positive impression.
Maybe if I print out the Header and Intro to MS and give it to him.
(I tried handing him a poem last time and reached into the wrong pocket, giving him my hotel receipt. I’ve always wondered how he interpreted that) 😮
Is there anyway I can print out the Home page of MS as it appears along with the pictures at the top and the blue sidebar around Sammie?
Usually the best way to print a web page is to print it to a pdf, and then print the pdf. But doing that on a Mac for some reason isn’t giving me the option to print backgrounds and images.
I’m kinda partial to the Sedition Radio banner image, myself. But I think that’s ‘cuz I like Bruce Cherry.
Wow, that is a Gold Mine of :rofl2:
 pj
I must admit since the Sedition Radio looping stopped, I’d never gone there.
:fire: :fire:
Larry “Wild Man” Fischer dies
🙁 :gate:
:gate: “Wild Man”. I think he was the first guy that Zappa signed up for his label and produced.
Here’s a Maron interview with a local weekly

He was the 1st artist on the ever so fantastic Rhino Records.
Spoken like a former employee (?)
If I had been willing relocate to SoCal, I guess I could have been. I was lucky enough to have many professional and personal encounters with the Rhino empire. Pretty great people who did some wonderful things, music and beyond.
