It’s January 12th, and it’s raining out. Pouring, in fact. This has been a very strange year indeed. Not that I’m complaining, of course. Some people are. For instance, the salt mine may have to lay people off (yeah, that’s right, there really is a salt mine around here). The bars “up north” are languishing, because this is the time of year when snowmobilers like to sled on up the bar and get hammered before sledding on home again. If you bought the “per season” driveway snow plow package, you lost this year. So far, anyway.
It could all change at any moment, and, in fact, the weather is supposed to take a wintry turn starting during the day tomorrow, when a cold front is supposed to turn rain to snow for the morning commute. This will suck for some people, but not so much for me, as I had the foresight to take tomorrow off. By Sunday, we’re supposed to be down into the single digits. Whether that’s just an aberration, or we’re about to get some payback for getting half the winter off this year, we shall see. The end of January thru February can be pretty nasty if it has a mind to be.
But, basically, I just need to get through today. There are several cold beers in the fridge all vying for my attention (beer bottles are such shameless hussies – throwing themselves at me every time I open the refrigerator door. Some even seductively peeling their labels down past their shoulders).
Oh well, time to see if somebody slopped up all the coffee, or if there’s a little left for me.
It’s pouring in Brooklyn and very windy. This is a very strange winter indeed but pretty as a snowy white NY is, I can do without the shoveling.
Hero Builders, which says it is the last American toy company (I hope vulture capitalist Romney doesn’t hear about it) is offering Rick Perry, Herman Cain and playmate, Hillary Clinton and Bachmann action figures.

Out here we have had almost no rain and have had 15 spare the air days already this winter meaning you cannot burn anything. I don’t miss the rain but it will not be good if we don’t get a bunch and soon. Now the weird thing is we are having a second year of La Niña which brought us such harsh conditions last winter yet this year seems nothing like last.
btw, this weekend, just in the nick of time for the 2012 elections, marks the return of the Bills, Moyers and Maher. Just what I need, two more must see programs to add to my schedule. My weekends are getting eaten up and Melissa Harris-Perry will have a weekend show on MSNBC starting in February. Some don’t but I like her. I am concerned about KO though. It seems like something has gone wrong at Current and it doesn’t feel good. I may have to get on a streetcar and go occupy Current.
Ah, yes, Bill Maher tonight. I knew there was a reason I didn’t cancel HBO!
Oops. Tonight’s not Friday, is it? But it’s my Friday! :40:
The biggest sports story in Denver is not Timmie- it’s the sacking of Dave Logan, former Cleveland Browns and Bronco’s player who coached football for Mullen High School and has been the anchor of the Broncos for many years.

All he’s done for Mullen is win four 5A HS championship’s in the last ten years while giving his salary to his staff. Kids and some parents were out protesting today.
I’ve never understood why he didn’t coach in the pro’s.
Is Gravatar DOA?
It has to do with the plugin I’m using to display the Gravatar. For some reason, it’s caching them here for a really long time. When I get a chance, I’ll try and figger it out.
