Happy New Year! It’s the year of the dragon. Funny, seems like it was the year of the dragon just 12 years ago. It’s also “Blue Monday” – “scientifically” determined to be the most depressing day of the year. Whereas I have to work a 5-day week, and have the “support” duty, I can’t argue.
It’s warm out this morning, and the dog is outside staring in the direction of the woods, and barking. I have no idea what he’s barking at. I think he’s doing the old dog equivalent of yelling “get off my lawn” at the coyotes, or something. Well, whatever makes him happy.
I was rooting around unsuccessfully searching for my soldering iron yesterday (haven’t seen it since since we moved), because I need to fix on of my workshop speakers. While I didn’t find it, I rather enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane, looking at all the things I’ve absolutely had to buy over the years that became obsolete or otherwise useless about a week after I bought them. I tried not to calculate a dollar amount, though.
I also ran across a treasure trove of eye glasses, so that was cool. My current glasses are scratched, broken, or scratched and broken.
Happy Birthday to Richard Dean Anderson. Many think of him as McGyver, but to me he’ll always be Col. Jack O’Neill.
Oops, apparently I forgot to actually turn this on this morning. Though it doesn’t seem anybody would actually notice.
Oh, I need a job! Need a job. I can’t join the military. I mean, I would if I could but I can’t, so I won’t. Really trying to get a fire lookout position this summer. What are the chances of me being hired. I’d say .0001 according to the amount applications I’ve sent out and the responses I’ve received.
So how is everyone? Not jobless and broke I hope.
Hey Trav. Nice to hear from you.
Looks like our sports reporter is off the beat.
If anyone missed it, the 49ers lost their NFC championship game so the ‘who gives a :crap: Northeast bowl’ will be played between in Indianapolis between the Boston ‘New England’ Patriots and the New Jersey ‘New York’ Giants. Doubtless my right wing xtian niece is attributing the loss to the lack of reverence shown at the ‘stick for the anthem. Not sure how she explains the Patriots win.
Meanwhile, Paterno passes. Not sure if it was intentional grounding. (Too early?)
I really don’t think anyone west of Saint Louis is going to care who wins but I’m looking forward to seeing a YouTube of someone stuffing that goddamn hoodie down Bellichecks pants.
I personally despise New England, so it’s an easy call for me. Plus, you know, there’s the whole ex-SU Giant’s coach.
But then I probably won’t even watch much of it. It’s not much fun when you don’t have anybody to watch it with.
Boston has 2 Syracuse related coaches on the staff as does the NJ Giants but not the top guy. I can’t really find a thing to like about either team.
I guess I should be for Boston since Brady is something of a homeboy who attended the same HS as Barry Bonds and numerous other luminaries but I hate see him passing Montana in the record books.
I’ll let god sort it out and do something else. I know some folks will want me to come over so I might and just not watch the game. I think it would be fun to watch the game with you, pj, but I can’t afford the ticket.
