Congratulations to the LA Kings for winning the Stanley Cup. I can’t imagine a place less suitable for hockey than LA, but then I don’t really consider June a “hockey month” either. I mean, it was 90 degrees here yesterday – hockey was definitely not on my mind. Not that hockey is ever really very much on my mind.
I used to like going to the Syracuse Blazers games back when I was a kid, when my brother used to take me (I remember my first one, I couldn’t figure out why everybody was leaving after the third “quarter”). The fights were quite entertaining. I even went to one of the current team’s games (the Crunch) versus our dreaded rivals, Rochester , when I got dragged along by a friend of mine and some friends of his. One of the guys I was with actually managed to get in a fight with one of the Rochester players, which was pretty funny (a scene straight out of “Slap Shot”).
I think there may have been alcohol involved.
On the way in to work this morning, I heard that the median net worth of Americans fell from $126,400 in 2007 to $77,300 in 2010. That’s like 39%, and a loss of something like 18 years worth of savings and investment. Seems as though most of that drop was the decrease in home equity.
There’s good news, though. People in the top 10% of income saw their net worth increase from a median of $1.17 million in 2007 to $1.19 million in 2010.
So, like, shouldn’t they have created some jobs?
The 1%, AKA job creators, can only create jobs if they are certain that there will be a Rethug administration. Then and only then will they hire another landscaper or butler or chauffeur.
It’s raining again.
I’ll trade you a weeks worth of rain for three days (and counting)
of smoke, haze and a Mars-like sunset.
Yeah, that’s some nasty stuff you guys got going on out there. Good luck with it.
I admit that rain is certainly preferable to smoke and haze but I’m still tired of the wet. No new Palemale photos from Lincoln because of the rain. The flowers, however, are very happy and the grass is green and lush and in need of cutting though it can’t get done ’til it stops raining.
It’s Wednesday. It’s raining.
Well, here’s some interesting speculation on possible running mates for future President Romney: Nikki Haley or Condi Rice — both women of color. Wouldn’t that be all post-racial, all inclusive and all “WHAT War on Women?????” 😮 😮 :omg: :omg:
I don’t see it with those two. Condi is probably too centrist :omg: for the repetulants and maybe too human to even be involved with their shit, not to mention questions about what team she plays on. Nikki has some potential skeletons lurking out there as well. I wouldn’t count out Piyush Jindal or Minny Pawlenty though. I am not sure Rubio would squander his future on a sketchy campaign at this point. On the other hand, it could be a last gasp that Jeb Bush can’t refuse.
So while I was watching a perfect Rodney Crowell show in Berkeley tonight, SF Giant Matt Cain was dealing a perfect game in SF, the first in NY/SF Giants history and the 22nd in MLB history.
