Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there. The big activity around here is the fly-in pancake breakfast at the little airport nearby. That means skies filled will little planes, most of which fly near and over my house. It’s pretty nifty. Otherwise, it’s gonna be a hot day out there today. In fact, it’s already hot. Guess I ought to go jump in the pool.
Enjoyed reading redtail facts and thought it fitting to learn of the stepdad on father’s daly.
Happy Father’s Day to all dads!
What A Real External Bank Bailout Looks Like
By PAUL KRUGMAN
Something I’ve been looking at: Texas after the savings and loan crisis of the 1980s.
The cleanup from that crisis cost taxpayers about $125 billion (pdf), back when that was real money. As best I can tell, around 60 percent of the losses were in Texas (pdf). So that’s around $75 billion in aid — not loans, outright transfer.
Texas GDP was about $300 billion in 1987. So this was equivalent to giving — not lending, not even taking an equity stake — Spain 25 percent of its GDP to bail out its banks.
And in the US it wasn’t even treated as an interstate political issue.

June 26 is the Democratic primary and Mike and I are planning a short vacation. So, i called the Bd of Elections to ask for an absentee ballot and found out I could go to the Bd and vote. Apparently we have early voting but I never knew about it. I’ve never heard anyone talk about it nor have I seen a flyer about it. Did you know RG nad PJ?
Nope I never heard about that. I wonder if it’s by County? Or just for primaries?
