So, finally, it’s Election Day. The polls open here in about an hour, and I expect to cast my ballot (I can’t help but still think of it as “pulling the lever”) at about 6:15 or so on my way to work. This being New York and not Florida or Ohio, I’m not expecting a line. Lots of people say, no matter who you vote for, please be sure to vote. I’m not one of those people. If you plan to vote for Romney, don’t bother. He’s not a real Conservative. He’s not a real Christian. He’s a two-faced, lying loser, and if you’re not a gazillionaire and you vote for him, he’ll be laughing at you tonight. And then he’ll fuck you over if he wins. So if you’re planning on voting for him, stay home today. But if you’re gonna vote for Obama, then get out there and vote and stand in line if you have to (easy for me to say, I know, ‘cuz we don’t have lines here). The chat room is open if you want to hang out while the returns come in. I don’t know how many people will actually use it (certainly nowhere near as many people as last time it was in use – back in 2008, believe it or not). I checked it with my Android tablet, and it works, so I’m hoping it works on an iPad (amazing that neither of those two things were invented back in ’08). Let’s just hope we don’t have to suffer through a Romney win.
Much to our surprise, our voting place was very busy. The parking lot was full, and there had to be at least 30 people in there. Quite busy for six o’clock in the morning in a town of 6,000 people.
Of course, we’re country folk, so we get up early.
Just not the same without the levers.
It’s just not the same without those levers and of course that big lever that was pulled to both record your vote and open the curtain. Of course the curtains stopped working a long time ago, but there was always the memory.
Mike votes for the first time on Shelter Island. I believe the year round population of the island is around 3000. It is Obama territory here. I have seen 1 Romney sign but Obama signs are everywhere. I hope this reflects the vote.
Yeah, when you yanked that big lever over, it really felt like you were doing something. Now, it’s pretty anticlimactic. Put the sheet in, and wait ’til it says “OK.”
First results in from New Hampshire
Dixville Notch: Obama 5, Rmoney 5.
Hart’s Location: Obama 23, Rmoney 9, Gary Johnson 1.
I’d like to move there, and tell them, “up yours, I’m voting at seven o’clock.”
Mike voted on Shelter Island. It took 10 minutes. The workers said there was a big turnout. They said they were getting many displaced voters. When he was finished he got an I Voted sticker.
We got a call from FEMA this morning telling us they would pay for us to stay in a hotel until our house was habitable. I don’t know any hotels that would take 4 cats and a dog. But, I thought that was great of them to call and I hope my neighbors who need lodging are getting it.
You could get the hotel room, and then rent it out to tourists!
I could put it on Craigs list and rent it by the hour.
So, where’re we watching the festivities tonight? MSNBC? Current? Fux News?
I’ll probably try to watch MSNBC on my computer. I haven’t looked at Current much since the kayoed KO.
When Obama was elected I watched FOX. But I can only watch them after he’s hit 270 in the electoral college.
With all due respect, KO ko’ed himself
