Finally, it’s Friday again. Three days since election night, and my teabagger conrgresscritter is refusing to concede her loss, despite being down by about 14,000 votes. In order to win, she’d need to win the outstanding absentee and affidavit ballots by about 4-1. This is a bit beyond unlikely, but I’m sure she figures god is on her side and will put this out for her. Also not too happy with all that democracy that went on Tuesday is Allen West, who, despite being down by more votes than would trigger an automatic recount, is demanding a recount due to “irregularities” in the vote. The people have spoken, but poor Al doesn’t like what they had to say.
And of course we all know that Karl Rove isn’t happy with the way things turned out, either. Now he seems to be saying the election is bullshit because of Obama’s “voter suppression,” which, he says, was caused by Obama running mean ads against Romney and Bain (Rove, as we all know, just hates those negative ads). So, what I think Rove is saying is that Romney lost because he got fewer votes than Obama did.
I won’t even get into Rush Limbaugh or Donald Trump or Ted Nugent, because I find it hard to believe that anybody actually cares what those clowns have to say.
Of course, that post-election glow is all but faded by now, and we’re about to have House Republicans drive the bus off the fiscal cliff. It’s all quite tiresome. I think Obama should send a drone after them.
Friday on my mind…

Obama, The Post-Colonial President
With Obama’s election, and again with his reelection, an internalized threshold for subjugated people was breached.

🙁 my friends and fellow dog lovers, my dear sweet sassy SouSou died today. She had been slowing down, but a happy girl as usual. I took her to the vet this morning as she didn’t eat her Breakfast- definately not normal. They called me with the bad news; there were numerous masses in her liver. Mr FK and I picked her up and I sat in the back seat with her as she wasn’t doing well. She passed, with her head in my lap, by the time we got home. What a sad sad awful day. She took a big part of Farmerkat with her.
It is a dreadful thing to lose such a dear friend. I know how painful it is and how wonderful, when time does some healing, and you can once again remember SouSou and smile.
I am so sorry.
I’m really sorry to hear that. I know how hard it is to lose your friend. Sometimes I wonder why I keep getting critters, because it’s so hard to lose them. But then I can’t imagine my life without them in it.
FK/OK – Condolences on the passing of SouSou. She was fortunate to make her transition in the presence of beings who loved her unconditionally. It is always heartbreaking when our beloved furry friends and companions have to leave us 🙁 . SouSou is over the Rainbow Bridge probably chasing Siggy around — he just LOVED to play with the girl puppies (and they always seemed to like him best)– I’ll bet they are just having a great time in the doggie spirit world unencumbered by bodies that weren’t working right any more! :pup: :pup:
I think that those of us on this forum certainly can feel your pain, OKat, and definitely empathize.
A moment of silence for SouSou. :gate:
I am so sorry to hear that, OK.
I had a rather disturbing call this morning finding out a friend is about to be taken off life support Sunday. I was unaware that he was even back from China but he has ALS and is in a bad way. I am trying to muster up the strength to visit tomorrow since he is taking vistors with happy stories.
Farewell SouSou.
🙁 :gate: :pup:
Thanks Vern. I guess its a ms blog thing, butYour Emos make me smile and cry…
I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow. May your friend pass as swiftly and easily as my best friend. :gate:
Very sad, Vern and very difficult for everyone involved. You are a very good friend.
Sorry to hear that, Vernon. ALS is one of those things that really scares me. I hope neither I nor anyone I care about ever has to go through it.
Oh, boy!! So much sad news here today. I’m so sorry about your friend, Vern. Tough way to go and I pray your friend got good drugs to help him cross over comfortably. Condolences. So sad. :yinyang:
OKat, Vern
Very sorry about the loss of your companion and friend.
There’s just precious few connections with sentient beings that sustain us with joy and love and when they leave a part of us leaves with them.
:gate:
I do hope SouSou has friends like Siggynto play tug of war. Me? This emptiness is painful.
Thanks guys. I know you understand.
Vern, I hope you’re ok today. I’m thinking of you and your friend. :gate:
The world is configured differently today. Every room I walk in is different.
Well, I managed to get myself to the hospital. There were lots of his friends moving in and out. I was happy that I got a few folks up there to visit as well. Jeff owned a music bar in Shanghai and a bunch of musicians there got on Skype and played for him for three hours. Tomorrow they will be removing his breathing tube and moving him to hospice from the ICU. They will also be setting him up with ICPAP which might keep him going for a while in a more humane way.
Good news is that they removed the breathing tube an applied the ICPAP(?) and recovered shortly and was now able to talk. There’s no way out of this but he’ll be around a while longer and with a little better quality of life. His sister told me that come what may, he was able to see the Giants win the World Series and O’Bama re-elected.
great news, Vern
So glad your friend us having some good moments and loved ones around him, Vern.
The website for the boys movie went live thisnweekend. It has some amazing stuff on it, if you have the time to peruse.

If you check out the Facebook page, it’s incredible. The soldiers’ families are posting pictures and memories. It’s truly amazing….
I don’t know if I can watch that whole film without some Xanax. :omg:
Yesterday was another trip to Brooklyn where we met the flood insurance adjuster. We are not covered for the stove, refrigerator and dishwasher but we are covered for all the other damage (which is everything) including the heat, and electricity. So, today we will try to engage an electrician, clean out and demolition people. This sounds like progress to me.
The adjuster was sent from Alabama and had never been to NYC. He said NYers were very resilient folks, liked our little groceries (bodegas) because they were similar to the ones in Alabama, and wondered if we could go out at night in a neighborhood such as Red Hook. He also said that Lola sounded like a Rottweiler which made her very proud.
