Another day, another 6-10″ of snow. So far, we’ve gotten about 29″, which is nine inches shy of our average at this point, but well above last year’s wonderful winter amount of 2.2″. Ah, 2011. Those were the days. As we approach the pecuniary precipice, there is some good news. If you’re a federal employee, anyway.
Their two-year pay freeze is coming to an end, thanks to an executive order signed by President Obama. That means Congress gets a pay raise, and by golly they deserve it for all the work they do (despite being the least productive Congress since the 1940s).
So good for them.
I’m not looking forward to my taxes going up next week, so it would be nice if they’d earn their raises and actually, you know, do something. It’d be kind of nice if they’d restore that payroll tax cut, too. It’s going to cut into the dog food money, and we don’t have enough cats to supplement their diet. They’ll have to start eating pine cones or something.
Oh well, time to go see how much snow’s in the driveway.
We are supposed to get a little snow today, 1-5 inches said the forecast last night.
As for the fiscal cliff stuff, I am not against contributing, I just think that those who benefit the most should kick in the most. I’m really tired of their whining as they aggregate more wealth for themselves and deny basic things such as health care to as many as they can.
But most of all I’m tired of hearing about magical Reagan because this skewing of wealth and a bunch of other mean ideas date from his magical presidency.
When I was in college, I started to move to other styles of music. Old & in the Way and The Grateful Dead and Gram Parsons sort of led the way but living in Virginia and going to a festival or two, I really became a fan of The Seldom Scene and truly loved their dobro player, Mike Auldridge.
🙁 :gate:
I want to post a more informative and proper obituary for Mike Auldridge even if it breaks down a little at the bottom.

Mike would have been 74 today. Thanks again!

A friend was impressed with the Velvet Underground usage in this.

Well, you know Lou Reed is one of our guys.

Can I just say this right now? Coaching discipline and fundamentals is important. I am seeing that now and I fear I will see it again too soon with the 49ers. Smart teams that don’t make mistakes and screw up are winners. Just fooking unbelievable. I hope they had a good time in NYC last night. I don’t want to know where they left their brains and the play books.
Oh, yeah. You win games with defense.
It also helps if you can rush for almost 400 yards (especially when it’s snowing out).
Yep. All of the re-alignment still bothers me. I don’t want to be making grudge bets with OKat every year instead of celebrating SF Giants wins.
SF baseball trumps football in this gal’s playbook. I’ve become somewhat of an anti-Stoops fan of late. He’s become a grumpy old man and his team is missing the Je ne sais quoi as a result. I’m sure this statement qualifies one for justified homocide so I must remain anonymous. :40:
I don’t like it either. We’ve played WVU since 1945 – every year since 1955. We’ve played WVU more times than anybody else except for Pitt and Penn State. A shame that it all has to end. Though if it’s got to end, I’m glad it ended with SU kicking the crap out of them. From what I’ve read, WVU was doing a lot of trash talking and saying that SU was “beneath” them as an opponent. So it was nice to take them down for the third year in a row.
I never said I was a big fan of some of the bad behavior of WVU fandom. My cousin who is a VPI fan told me of her experiences in Morgantown at a game a few years ago so I can’t deny it. West Virginia is so far in my past now that it is fantasy. I noticed some friends in NOLa ripping the 49ers this year and it was apparently because of bad fan behavior. I hate that shit. I’ll even try to put my frail frame in the middle if I can provide some space.
I don’t think you see a lot of chirping from me nor do I see it from you. I even gave you the opening. That was a whuppin’ yesterday.
:spank:
aaA, long may you run!

Norton- :blues: 🙁 :gate:
Not sure where that norton came from. The Moon? I’ll have to ask Alice.
Ever since it snowed, I wake up each morning and think that it must have snowed again because there is whiteness all around. In Brooklyn, the snow would be dirty and there would be piles of black snow made by the soot and grease the cars spray as they drive. It’s nice here in the country.
