About a million years ago (OK, more like 33 years ago, give or take), I was in college at a place called Oswego (second in my tour of colleges). One of the really cool things about college (especially in a small town) is that you get to see some really good non-main stream concerts. One of the ones I got to see was David Bromberg. Needless to say (so why say it), it was a great show. Afterwards, we had a keg going down “on the beach” (the shores of Lake Ontario next to the campus), and who came down but David Bromberg and his band mates. I was pretty wasted by then, put I’m pretty sure a great time was had by all. I miss the olden days.
Just ‘cuz I’m thinking of him.
You know that if we had a ‘like’ button I might not have to always weigh in. I just saw Bromberg a few months ago after a long time and he is still great. First time I saw him was when I was in college in NYC and he played at a ‘Folk Center’ that did shows in a Methodist church in the Village. Seeing the music of the devil in a church was a big moment for me. Not sure if he did Bojangles but he did another Jerry Jeff song that night and damn if I didn’t find a YouTube of it at a friend’s festival in Rhode Island.
Some of my guitar pals go to Jorma’s Fur Peace Ranch for his guitar camp and David is often there. He has been palling around with Kaukonen for a number of years.
As for Croce, I never was a big fan but he and my favorite Gram Parsons passed just after I moved to SF which will be 40 years ago this September so I never saw either of them.
🙁 :gate:

:Ahhh them college daze…. Santa Cruz had some great music and, of course, the Days On The Green at Oakland Colleseum. Vern, did you go to those, too?
I attended a few but not that many.

Have you guys heard of this search engine? I like the idea!
Thanks for the reminder. I meant to check it out before and forgot. I gave it one quick test searching Morning Sedition and this site doesn’t show up. On Google it is near the top. If you DuckDuckGo Morning Seditionist it does show up and you can even go to Patrick’s World.
Interesting news to wake up to…
Janet Napolitano, Homeland Security chief, to head UC

A local Fox affiliate, the San Francisco powerhouse station KTVU, is
dealing with the fallout of a major error on Friday. During their noon
broadcast, a report on the deadly Asiana Airlines crash took a turn for
the unintentionally offensive when they broadcast the names of pilots in
charge of that flight. The mangled Asian-sounding names were, in fact,
thinly-disguised expletives mocking the sentiments expressed by the
crash victims and their families.

I left this one alone trying not to bring shame to the Bay Area. I am sure she believed they were the names. She could be headed for the network soon.
NTSB statement on erroneous confirmation of crew names
It wasn’t even a Howard Stern prankster.

File in, another reason I’m glad to be a vegetarian.
Spoke to a woman yesterday whose son had died some time ago from Mad Cow Disease. Again, NOT recently. She said she sent her son to the Mayo Clinic and that’s where it was diagnosed. The death certificate says cause of death was Prion, she said. So I asked how he contracted it and she said he worked on the kill floor of a meat slaughter house and got blood in his eye. His eye became infected and then got better and he continued to work until he became too ill. The diagnosis came after he stopped working.
It’s crazy that these factories are restricted by the FDA in testing every animal for Mad Cow. Responsible ones try and then are forbidden.
A friend of mine has highly recommended this movie to me.
I have to say he is a bigger fan of horror thrillers than I am.
