Good morning, and Happy Thanksgiving to you. I hope you have a nice day ahead of you. About all I have going on is maybe plowing the driveway (I think we got a decent – though not overwhelming – bit of snow overnight). If I wasn’t leaving tomorrow, I probably wouldn’t even bother, since they say it’s going to warm up and rain by Sunday.
It’s been very pleasant being able to not go to work and just hang out alone with the varmints, and I really wish I could be here with them for the rest of the weekend. But, as my dad used to say, shit in one hand and wish in the other and see which one fills up faster.
Saw another mouse in a trap at the top of the stairs to the basement this morning, but he was still moving, so I decided to leave him alone until he quit twitching. Then I heard a noise and took another look – he (and the trap) were nowhere to be seen. I reckoned he managed to throw himself off the stairs and is now somewhere near the sump pump under there. Guess I’ll have to put my boots on and do a patrol. I just hope he’s not waiting for me down there with a pack of friends (I just picture a bunch of mice wearing leather jackets and riding motor scooters – Pete Townshend does kinda look like a rodent).
I was supposed to get an Amazon delivery yesterday, but it was shipped FedEx instead of UPS and I guess FedEx is still using the “it snowed in Buffalo” excuse to delay things. So it won’t come until Friday when I won’t be here. It was only mouse deterrent and more traps, but I was hoping to get them in place before leaving.
Oh well.
Anyhow, have a nice day today and a great weekend. I guess I’ll turn “Thanksgiving Alone” radio on Google Play Music, finish my coffee, and then go find my carry-on bag.
Happy Thanksgiving, PJ. I am always thankful for your posts. Sometimes you make me laugh when I really need a laugh. And happy Thanksgiving to Okat and Vern and RG and the other seditionists who still drop by. I am thankful for you all.
This is going to be a quiet day for us. We decided we didn’t feel like driving to the city and we don’t feel like cooking for a crowd (a crowd is any number over 2) . So, a quiet meal, and a sweet potato pie. What could be better?
Of course Lola ate something yesterday and today she has a belly ache. Hopefully some flagyl and pepcid will make her feel better in time for some turkey.
Happy Thanksgiving to all from frigid Minneapolis
Sun is shining & teeth are chattering. Met my daughter’s future in-laws & her husband’s sisters. She’s marrying into a very nice family and her almost sisters-in-law are hilarious & a lot of fun. She made an interesting choice of families to marry into.
Looking forward to PJs arrival tomorrow and Groom’s Dinner in Stillwater (Michele Bachmann territory ) tomorrow.. Groom’s mother is throwing the shindig & it will be in the barn of an apple farm, so I’ll be wearing my long underwear.
Will be heading off to other daughter’s in-laws shortly (also a very nice bunch of people — must be something about Minnesota) for Thanksgiving dinner.
Hope everyone has a nice day & stays warm!
Miss you, PJ See you at Minneapolis airport tomorrow.
Click the turkey.
Do it up.
Ah, the Washington NFL franchise. Nuttin’ but
class!Hope everyone had a great TG, and safe travels and happy wedding revelry to come.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Oh wait… That was yesterday.
Hopefully, everyone is back and happy from travels and weddings and toe tapping at the Larry Craig Airport and Loo. You can resume normal stance now.
The worst thing about Thanksgiving is that as soon as it’s over the rush to get ready for Xmas begins. I am not ready.
I got home late last night. When I left Minneapolis it was 9 degrees, and when I got to Syracuse, it was about 52. 52 is better.
I was too wound up to go straight to bed (and the dogs were pretty wound, too), so I stayed up even later, so I’m glad to have had the sense to take today off (though I wish I’d taken tomorrow, too). It’s good to be back home. The wife should be arriving in an hour or so after her long drive.
Fortunatley, I’m not one to give much thought to Christmas, though I’m happy to have the time off.
Getting home after a trip is such a welcome feeling.
Rolling Stones Saxophonist Bobby Keys Dies at 70
Maron and Pashman, together again.
Damn, I miss those guys working together. STILL.
Exclusive: New Photos of Johnny Cash at San Quentin Prison
Ten never-before-seen photos of Johnny Cash recording one of the most famous live albums in history.
I missed Pashman here promoting his book. Major part of the move tomorrow.
I am a huge fan of the biscuits and sausage gravy. I had a mother who could make great biscuits. Too bad we separated before I learned a lot of her tricks.
Happy Belated Thanksgiving! I was busy with the ole folks, but am back in the 2nd (tie!) least attractive people-city in the country.
Glad the wedding went well and the new family met with your approval. Like sp, I, too, am thankful for ya’all.
The video of Eric Gardner is nauseating.
The grand jury took place on Staten Island, the Republican boro, where a large number cops and firemen live. It is the whitest boro. It’s where Republican Congressman Grimm just won election in spite of being under indictment. I’m not shocked by the lack of an indictment . I’m really disappointed.
I have been angry at the treatment Obama has gotten both from the Foxies and the Republicans. I am overwhelmed by the racism that has been overtly displayed by media pols and random idiots who don’t pay the grazing fees.
Sharpton says there is a march in DC the Saturday after next. Being there is impossible for me. I always feel I should at least show up and add myself to the numbers.
