Whatever it is that today means to you, I hope it’s a good one for you and everybody you care about (and your pesky puppies). Here, it’s warm and wet and green, which reminds me of our refrigerator after the power was off for two weeks back in September of ’98. Except that was really stinky, too. I didn’t hear Santa on the roof last night, and it occurs to me that I forgot to pull the pellet stoves out of the fireplace, so I reckon we were passed by once again. Good thing – the only cookies we had to leave out for him were dog cookies. Have a good day, and may you have many happy returns tomorrow.

Happy Boxing Day to all. As ambivalent as I am toward the holidays, it’s still kind of depressing to be here at work today. Of course, it’s kind of depressing to be at work pretty much every day. The only thing more depressing would be to not have a job to come to, so I won’t complain.

I made my first bread pudding and it worked out rather nicely, thankfully. I made a Bourbon, brown sugar cream sauce to go with it.
Pj, I don’t have a rice cooker. That is either a regular pot or it could be the Technivorm coffee maker you see. I started shopping for a rice cooker awhile back. I read reviews and then promptly got confused and didn’t buy one. Folks are very serious about their rice cookers and you can drop some big bucks on one.
I.ve got some pudding envy now and you had to go bourbon sauce as well.I haven’t made one for a while but the non-dessert edition aka strata is a great breakfast/brunch dish that can take on just abiut anything you could put in a quiche or omelet. They can be savory, berry sweet, fruity… Just get a good basic and add at will!
So they seem to be having a “The Wire” marathon on one of the HBO channels. The highlight so far is Bunk comes in wearing a lacrosse sweatshirt and they make fun of him and he says, “What, a brother can’t run with a stick? Jim Brown was an All-American at Syracuse.”
Limbaugh is upset Stringer is being proposed as the next James Bond.
Yeah, I saw that. I wonder if he had a problem with Mary Martin (or Cathy Rigby or Allison Williams) playing Peter Pan? Or Ciarán Hinds playing Bud “Bill Clinton” Hammond on Political Animals? Or Mel Blanc playing a pig, duck, chicken, cat, mouse (not to mention both rabbit and wabbit hunter)?
Never mind all those white guys that played Jesus over the years.
We’ve been binging on the Wire here, too. Love Idris Elba. Luthur is one of my favorites. Isn’t Limbaugh so last century? When will they finally yank his show?
Everything on that show is just amazing. The characters, the writing, the music, the acting – all of it.
Yeah, I like Luther a lot, too. I always keep my hand in my pockets now. And now Alice is in a Showtime show with McNulty. Can’t wait ’til we get season 4 over here.
