10 years ago today, the first post went up here. When you’re a kid, you the old people talk about how fast time passes as you get older, but you don’t really get it until you get older yourself. Then one day turns into another, seasons fly by, and all of a sudden a decade is gone. Back in 2005, MySpace was the big thing (“The Facebook” wasn’t even open to the public yet), YouTube had only been founded in February (hadn’t been bought by Google yet), and there was no such thing as Twitter.
So blogs were a place where people could share their thoughts and like-minded people (and their trolls) could form communities. You wouldn’t know it now, but this was a pretty active place for quite a few years. But eventually people migrated to places like Facebook (the ones that didn’t die or forget their passwords and insist they’d been “banned”) and only the most stubborn people are left. I know I’ve had a hard time thinking of shit to say (I just don’t have the energy to express my righteous indignation anymore).
I used to try and put something up every day (I used to write shit the night before and set it to post at 5:00 AM Eastern), but now it’s not unusual to go a couple of weeks or more. All part of that whole time flying by thing, I guess.
And now Thanksgiving’s over and Christmas will be here before you know it. I wonder ho fast the next 10 years will go.
Bien sûr, Je suis têtu! 10 years…. It does fly by…..Weren’t we using flip phones?
We had a horrible ice storm….thankfully we have power!
It looks like I was not in on the ground floor.
Then again, it says there are 83 comments that day and only see 68 so maybe I blocked or hid myself. I imagine ther may also be a few ‘charter members’ I have hidden through time.
I see 83 comments there. The oldest comment I see from you (including “taurus bullba”) is from July 2006.
It amazes me how prolific Fred was. His final comment was on 5/15/2008, yet he managed over 10,000 comments in about two and a half years.
Oh, so many names I’d almost forgotten! The boys certainly did pull a mighty fine tribe together in a short time.
Now, I rarely listen to the podcast….. Thanks again, pj, for holding the fort down all these years. No matter where we moved, I always found like-minded folks here.
btw, my last post on TG was to a podcast from MS vet Dan Pashman. They played it here Thursday on a local non-com public radio station. His parents should be proud.
I remember changing my ‘name’ so I wouldn’t pass one of our departed on the Top 25 but eventually she was passed.
I suppose I should post something.
Hey PJ, maybe you could eventually make your headerimg fill the entire space. A width of 1335 works for me, but I’m not sure about anyone else. Stretching the image seems better than having a blank space, IMHO.
<img id=”headerimg” src=”http://www.morningseditionists.com/msblog2/wp-content/themes/tpsunrise/images/tpSunrise_farm.jpg” width=”940″ height=”200″ alt=”Header image alt text”>
Hell, maybe even center the header_text while you’re at it. I’ve found that a top position of 100, a left position of 555 and a width of 0 looks alright. Might even want to change the text size as well, if you ever get around to it.
565 is actually more centered than 555, but not as easy to type. I imagine the format looks fine on PJ’s Kindle, and that may be why he hasn’t changed it.
I went to the grocery this evening, and an Asian male with his girlfriend held his hand over his nose as they walked by. I’ve said before that I might try to kill the next person that does that to me, but maybe I’ll just bash their fucking brains out instead. If people keep fucking with me, I’m gonna go fucking insane.
I hate Seattle police because they do that shit, too.
In fact, I hate anyone that does that. Colbert and Obama can go eat shit together for all I care.
Here’s a shot from opening day at the Gates’ Foundation. Maybe I’ll reconsider ever stopping by there again.
Maybe it was just my imagination, but it looked like Bill Gates senior drove by me with his hand over his nose. I didn’t shoot him the bird or turn around, though I thought about it.
Happy, Birthday to Sam Seder!

Thanks, PJ. There have been times when Morning Seditionists have helped my sanity, particlarly the syber handholding during those Bush speeches.
The word cyber should have been on one of those elementary school spelling tests Sue use to give.
I am not sure if they ever came to these parts but I learned today from K-Pea of the passing of Arch Ellsworth whose wife Teresa preceeded him in passing not too long ago. They came to SF from the great Northeast a few years ago with some other Proligarchy/Seder denizens to see a Garofalo/Maron show.
Hey all, so nice you are still here. I should stop by more often. The passing of Arch and Theresa and my sadness are proof that friendship knows no bounds. I’ve always wanted to meet all of you, maybe I will. It doesn’t even matter because I feel the same loss as if he lived here and I saw him at shows occasionally. I will miss them.
Jeez it’s good to see you all. WTF, Travis?
Nice to see ya — it’s been a while. Hope things are well.
If you’re not careful or conform to their delusions, Krista, they’ll ignore you, too. Remember 2+2=5.
Hi there, KP. It’s nice to see ya.
Hi KP! I feel the same. The internet ether can be a powerful place. How goes the farming and the doggies?
Hey, Krista. It’s really nice to see you here. How are you doing? Be well!
“Here’s the simple and undeniable fact. The overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats,” Cruz told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. “The media doesn’t report that.”
The Repubs seem particularly qoutable, to wit:
Fox News host Andrea Tantaros blasted liberals on Monday for “indicting an entire religion” of “Christian white Republicans” following last week’s domestic terror attacks on a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado
Ex-US Intelligence Chief on Islamic State’s Rise: ‘We Were Too Dumb’
I’ve worked under the leadership of a retired Colonel, and I can say with a straight face that he was a dumb, racist piece of shit.
More from the quotable Mr. Cruz:
“Look, when I was in college, we had a machine in the bathroom. You’d put 50 cents in and voila!” added Texas’ junior senator, who attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School. “So yes, anyone who wants contraceptives can access them, but it is an utterly made-up, nonsense issue.”
Gee, I hope he was in the mens room. Otherwise, I shudder to think what he was using for contraceptives.
Emboldened by Silver conviction, Bharara to indict Cuomo Jan 2nd
That would be a truly enjoyable thing to see.
This may seem a bit nuts, but my bedroom light keeps flickering off and on — possibly in correlation to sites I visit online. I’m not knowledgeable enough to understand how that could happen, but hackers are apparently pretty skillful.
My computer is constantly being monitored, I’m assuming. Artifacts appear around the screen in the form of black streaks and flashes, phantom cursor movements and other inexplicable phenomenon occur. At least I haven’t had any strange phone calls recently from foreigners speaking a language I can’t understand. When President Xi was in Seattle a few months ago that happened. Kinda ominous if you ask me.
I don’t know how long I’ve been followed and harassed, but it seems I have been the entire time I’ve been back in Seattle. A lot of it isn’t very sophisticated surveillance, though I can imagine some of the vehicles have holographic projection technology that conceals the occupant’s identity instead of relatively inexpensive tinted windows. Sure, that seems outlandish, right?
Oh, tonight was the second time in two months I walked through a grocery store with my fly down. I’m such an idiot.
Sorry for that dupe. Caught it too late.
Hey, the only thing better than Neil Young is two Neil Youngs. Neils Young? Neils Youngs?
Maron a guest on Stephanie Miller. The endtimes have come!
(Actually on with a guest host and not Steph)
We’ll find out what the antagonism was all about.
Hey there Web. Nice to see ya.
That was fun. I think a certified support sloth has possibilities.
Maybe there should be a Roommate Veterans for Truth ad.
John Kerry stole my shoe.
Strange weekend. Friday I was going to work my sub-shift at a rekkid store for a friend who had a quadruple bypass with big plans of having a leisurely b’fast and do a few errands I can’t do up here. The early part disappeared with flat tire, ridiculously long wait for AAA, and finding someone to patch the tire since it was apparent nobody had the time to sell me one new tire.
I got to work late and grabbed a sandwich at the nearby health food store. I had been less than 100% for a long time from eviction and moving and the havoc it rained on my body. About an hour after nibbling at the sandwich, I was not feeling well. After more than another hour of trying to talk to my people, somebody defaulted to me having to call 911 and I did.
When the emergency vehicle parked a block away from the accurate address and cross street I had provided, I walked the block on my own and asked if they were looking for me. They hooked me up and saw some bad readings but by the time they were ready to roll I was getting back to normal as we started to a nearby ER. By the time we got there, I was pretty much back to normal. Nevertheless, they were already going to ‘book’ me so I sat in a room for 5 hours waiting for another room to go to and I got
Well what was that about? Is your ticker ok? Anxiety? I don’t like that Vern.
Glad you recovered, but sit’s concerning. Good thing you were not comotose…how would you have gotten to the ambulance??
sorry that trumpated.
Spent the night and most of Saturday in the hospital taking tests. When I awoke, the basketball game on the TV was S’cuse v G-town so I saw that as a good sign. As my tests rolled in I was shown having an electrolyte imbalance, very similar to another time or two in the past. Funny how that has still not on my medical records and how they really didn’t care to listen the numerous times I explained it as something to consider.
Not on the record was what the last doctor told me it was probably just a severe case of indigestion.
I am doing well. I am paying attention for now to everything I am doing and for the life of me cannot figure out what happened but I have a better idea than a bunch of ‘experts’ with all of their technology who seemed not to know is that the first and best line of inquiry starts with listening.
Best takeaway of the days- my excellent paramedic looking at my heartbeat said ‘You have a funky rhythm!’. I had no mike to drop and was strapped down by then.
Well, I’m glad you’re OK, Vernon. Not been feeling very well myself, and have even taken the extraordinary measure of trying to get an appointment with a doctor as a new patient. Sadly, that seems to be more difficult than you’d think. So in order to try and stave off death, I started hitting the exercise bike every morning and was doing good for a couple of weeks, but then my Achilles tendon (or something in that area) got so painful I could barely walk and I haven’t been able to hit the bike for about five days. Still hurting a bit and limping, but it’s much better. The rest of me, not so much.
I have a feeling I won’t be here for our 20th anniversary.
We’ll be here. There has been enough herd thinning here already.
I try to minimize my contacts with the medical/insurance complex. I had 24 hours of affirmation record-wise. The doctors were OK. The nurses, paramedics and their support staff were fantastic. Syracuse was game.
Looks like my ride the other day.
I have a feeling I won’t be here for Christmas. Adios, amigos. Ten years is enough.
There have been a few times that I have found smart, attentive doctors. But, most of the time they simply treat me as if I were a chart.
We’ll be here. There has been enough herd thinning here already (I can’t seem to find the dude who nods his head up and down.)
Had an ambulance ride a couple weeks back, too. Must be the season. Thought we’d lost a dog and I was running, tripped and did a header in to a parked car. Broke my schnoz, got raccoon black eyes, and went to the ER because of my neck. Damn that hurt. I try to avoid these chart-takers, but it seems I can’t shake them.
On an awesome note, the no-longer-a-teenager is getting sworn in as a full-fledged lawyer! And even bertter, he’s working and is off the dole! (No snarky lawyer jokes, you guys!)
Ouch! Better to hit a parked car than a speeding cement truck, I guess. The most important thing, of course, is that the doggie’s OK.
Congrats on the kid. I’m sure he’ll be one of the good guys.
If I had done a face plant like that, they would still have me in the hospital. They almost kept me an extra day because I had a slight stumble getting up from a bed tethered to gawd knows what on both arms.
Where will he hang the shingle? I am thinking I will be needing some help. Maybe in retroactive disability law.
😉
Congrats to you all!
John Trudell passed yesterday on the 35th anniversary of John Lennon’s assassination.
Congrats, OKat. I’m sure you have taught him what the important stuff is.
It is beginning to get very annoying to hear about jihadis becoming radicalized. It makes it sound as if the process is so esoteric that it cannot be understood. And, it makes it seem as if the way in which one becomes an anti-abortion murderer or a KKK murderer is different. Perhaps a little less scary.
I want the Fux news heads to condemn Christian Terrorists.
Carly Fiorina Needs A Tranquilizer – Stat!
She really is a piece of crap. It’s difficult to tell which Republican is the biggest piece of crap. I guess that’s what theire primaries are all about. I just hope none of them manage to actually become Preznit.
They are a scary lot: candifdates and rank and file. It’s hard to tell which group is more vile.
It’s getting so I can’t tell the real news stories from The Onion.
Woodland rejects solar farm
Solar panels are causing cancer? Not the sun but the panels? Her poor science class students.
