I don’t have much to say, except I’m glad I went to bed early last night. Oh, and on behalf of the rest of the world – thank you, America. Just when we thought we couldn’t think any less of you, you’ve lowered our opinion another notch.

Only hope the Grand Idiot listens to his daughter more than his evil spawn Uday and Qusay….. What a freaking disaster. Thanks rural hillbillies of Amerika and the electoral college.
Where’s Morning Sedition when you need it?
So four days ago, RG! We are all devolved now.
😉
I’m extremely concerned with this country.
I am really scared.
Trump (bad as it is) isn’t even the worst part. Though I shudder to think of what will happen with Secretary of State Gingrich and Attorney General Ghouliani. And then there’s the Supreme Court, of course, once the Republican Senate does away with the filibuster and a couple of the old ones croak. We’ll wish we had Fat Tony back.
The worst part is total Republican control of the governement for at least four years. The damage they can do with nobody to stop them is going to be devastating.
I think things are fucked for the remainder of my lifetime.
All this, and now Leonard Cohen, too? 2016 sucks.
From TPM
First, I prefer Fat Nino. Maybe we can sit over a bowl and some brews someday and I’ll explain if I last that long. Maybe on my way to Canada but Vancouver may be just my kind of town. (Where is Sunny Jim?)
Then again, when I reach the absolute nadir, my go to guy was Leonard Cohen. I knew this was coming and kind of tried to ignore it. That lovely woman in the picture, Perla Batalla, I got to see a month or so ago doing Lenny songs. Here’s one from that night.
Vancouver looks like a great place. Probably a lot safer for you to get to than trying to cross that intellectually barren wasteland between CA and NY. I’ll just have to cross the border up this way and take a left.
Thunder Bay looked like a nice place, too, though it gets cold up there. Vancouver is pretty temperate and doesn’t get much snow (by my standards, anyway).
Unfortunately, I don’t imagine Canada would want me anymore. I should have moved there when I had the chance.
I have been to Vancouver twice and loved it. I have always said it is like a clean San Francisco. I am sure it is beyond my no pay grade at this point. BC could still be possible.
And now Robert Vaughn.
In time for your Thanksgiving! I’m always in horror this time of year and this is just what the doc ordered.
I’m totally on board with being a Vegan. I just need a volunteer to do the shopping and cooking for me. Actually, I can handle the cooking. I can also handle the shopping, but I need to know what I can buy weekly that won’t rot in the refrigerator. I’m doing OK with the romaine heart salad for dinner and I eat a lot of unsalted nuts these days plus the Kirkland stir fry veggies (that I actually just nuke). But I’m still kind of reliant on the chicken thighs for my breakfast soup and the Kirkland salmon burgers for lunch.
I’m not sure what we’re expected to do for T-Day this year. I kind of doubt my soon to be 95 year old (born on D-Day, though he was on the wrong side of that one) father-in-law is up for a trip out here to the sticks, and it seems a shame to waste the whole day on a trip out to them (especially since I know they’re both pleased as punch at the election results, and I really don’t wanna hear it or get dragged into a discussion about it).
Maybe we can both pull the “I gotta work” card.
It took a month to transition from vegetarian to vegan. You have to have a couple good cookbooks to see how to be creatively fast at it. (That old food combination thing is a myth and you don’t have to worry about protein as much as Americans think.) Now we’ve discovered that our food is far more exciting than when I was a vegetarian. Mr. FK is not vegan but he’s a gamer. I had a great sandwich at a local haunt last week. It is called the “Joan Rivers.” It is a sandwich with smoky tempeh, sauerkraut on rye grilled with vegan cheese on the outside. Delish!
The Happy Healthy Vegan, the MInimalist Baker, and any book by Isa are great starters. The most challenging but absolute best food is found in Street Vegan. Thug Kitchen is good, too, but sometimes the recipes don’t spice it up enough. I told myself I’d give it a month and see. Never going back. I get it that folks don’t want to bother with it, however, as it takes a committment to get started.
I’ll have to check those out.
I need a vegetarian delivery service. I’d say I could start one up as a business when I retire, but retirement is kinda doubtful now.
And now Leon Russell. I repeat, 2016 sucks.
I dragged myself out this morning since it was a beautiful morning and I thought maybe getting a decent brunch with a few beverages might make me feel a little better after that dismal week. The first place I went literally never acknowledged my presence in thier establishment for over 20 minutes and I left, not feeling that better feeling I was hoping for and headed off to another place I used to go to when I first got here 2 years ago. Rather than the dozens of people working at the last place, they had one guy cooking and one woman who was bartender, waitstaff, busperson and everything else. Before I even looked at her looking up at the NFL game on one of the screen, she welcomed me loudly less than 15 seconds after I walked in the door. So I sat there for a long time slowly eating my breakfast and drinks and watching the Saints game. That one had one of the stranger endings I have seen and I know way too many Saints friends so I looked at the dreaded FB on my phone to see if anyone was in need of some TLC. I hadn’t heard about Leon although there had been several posts of his music. I guess I was just figuring it was his birthday. I guessed wrong.
I don’t want to sound like the little boy who cried wolf since I probably say this too often but when I think about musical people who have meant the most to me, he’s near the top of the top 5. It starts with him and Dylan and Ry Cooder and Woody Guthrie and Springsteen.
I may go back to that place tonight and check out the big shiny moon. It sits by the river across from Mare Island and has a barge outside where you can sit and eat and drink.
As for that vegan thing, I doubt I can get there with you. However, I have a cousin who I haven’t met yet who does it, even had a series of youtubes on it, but has moved on to some other causes.
