We were all in a state of shock and disbelief 17 years ago, especially when it became clear that the first plane hitting the World Trade Center wasn’t an accident. But even then, as the rubble still smoldered in NYC and DC (and PA), I knew that one day America would rise from the ashes and elect (so to speak) a president that would make George W. Bush look like a stable genius and elder statesman. It took us a while, but in less than 20 years, we’ve gone from a nation that the entire world stood with to the biggest fucking joke in the history of the planet (bit of a sick joke, to be sure, but an impressive one nonetheless). So congratulations to us, and don’t forget to run out and do some shopping. You know, for old times’ sake.
I really hope the RNC paid a lot of money for whatever list it is I seem to have gotten on. Must be all those words of encouragement I tweet at the “president.”
Not all the news from the NYS Primaries was good news. But this was.
Bad news for Governor Snotball, and bad news for “the Party.”
I was just listening to Seder talk about this. He gives a lot of credit to C. Nixon for heightening awareness of the I.D.C.
I think he’s mistaken there. But maybe they paid more attention to her down in NYC. I’ll give her some credit in making Governor Snotball at least pretend to consider legalizing pot here in NY, though. Of course, he’ll probably forget all about that now.
And from a public employee point of view, we finally got a contract after working without one for a couple of years, and it didn’t include a furlough this time, so that’s good.
It was at the top of today’s podcast. He said she mentioned it on almost every occasion. Maybe it was just an NYC thing. He also said her challenged could have put a dent in the Cuomo armor.
Yeah, from the NYC perspective, we, at best, are all but non-existent up here. And at worst we’re just a joke. As Ed Koch once said (I know I’m repeating myself here, but I just get a kick out of this), living up here is:
Ayup.
I think we’re starting to annoy the Party Establishment, though.
Probably a bummer for the Bernie-haters, since poverty and healthcare are kind of more important than Bernie having the audacity to run against Hillary (and then, despite supporting her candidacy, apparently not displaying the appropriate amount of fealty). Or maybe they’re just projecting their anger at Susan Sarandon onto him.
Funny how somebody who champions things like single-payer healthcare, education, and paying workers a living wage has become the object of derision and disdain. But I guess since he spent “decades” sitting around in the Senate being lazy and never doing anything he has it coming.
Imagine if you will…
I don’t actually know who that is, but hopefully it’ll be good. The 1985 or so version didn’t last long (something not quite right with it being in color) – despite the theme being done by the Grateful Dead. I like the radio version with Stacy Keech.
Is this over?
Hope everyone is in good health.
Hey Art, I hope all is well with you. Not gone yet – too stubborn.
