Todays the second longest day of the year. No, not the “second longest” day. The second of two longest days in a row. That’s what the newspaper said anyway. Then the days start getting shorter. Before you know it, it’ll be dark at five o’clock, and I’ll trying to figure out how to get the dogs out after work. That’s the only thing I don’t like about winter. It gets dark too early. I don’t mind the snow or the cold (I was watching Dan Rather Reports the other night, and he was doing a story on mass transportation in Denver, and he said something like the added benefits of not having to drive weren’t lost on people in a “city that got 35 inches of snow last year.” Hah), but I hate going to work in the dark, and coming home in the dark, having squandered all the daylight stuck at my job. But anyway….
Brian Williams takes the reins (at least temporarily) of Press the Meet, hosting a debate between the very intelligent Joe Biden, and the pathetic little closeted Linsey Graham. Then there’s a roundtable with Andrea Mitchell and John Harwood. Whoopie.
On Faze the Nation, why the hell do they give any airtime to a disgraced, pathetic, slimy piece of shit like Newt Gingrich? I dunno, but they do.
Weaselface Wallace has Tom Daschele for Obama and Tom Ridge for McCain, and then there’s the usual fuxheads.
On Goebbels, George Snufalufagus has icky Kay Bailey Hutchison, Ed Markey (D-MA), oily Red Cavaney, President and CEO of the American Petroleum Institute, and “economist” Jeffrey Sachs. Then, on the “Roundtable,” it’s political genius Donna Brazile, Matthew Dowd, Cokie “the hag” Roberts and Sam :omg: Donaldson.
Wolf Bitzer’s Late Emission has Gov. Bill Richardson, Tim “the bridges are fine” Pawlenty of Minnesota, Robert Wexler, redneck Eric Cantor of Virginia, li’l Robbie Reich, shill for McCain, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, Ahmed Rashid (not the former receiver, but author of “Descent into Chaos”) ans Peter Bergen, CNN scare monger.
Later, on 60 Minutes, Lara Logan isn’t on, so who gives a shit?
Hey, have a good Sunday, y’all.
It’s nice to know that there are two longest days, especially as my old dog, Emily, will no longer go out after dark. Those days when it’s dark before 5 PM are really going to be a trial with her, this year.
When we go to standard time, each fall, and I wake up while it is still dark, I find it a very depressing way to start the day. I hope Emily, after keeping her legs crossed all night, will be willing to take a walk in the morning gloom.
A group of veterans who served in Vietnam with Senator John F. Kerry is taking Texas billionaire T. Boone Pickens up on a challenge he issued in November: that he would give $1 million to anyone who could disprove a single charge the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth made against Kerry in a series of damaging advertisements during the 2004 presidential campaign. The veterans say the accusations of the Swift Boat group damaged their reputations and deeply affected their families. They sent Pickens a 12-page letter that they say rebuts not one but several of the accusations. A spokesman for Pickens said the package had not arrived. (New York Times)
Greetings dear Whatever P., teehee (Sioux) How are You?

TOM BROKAW TO SERVE AS MODERATOR OF “MEET THE PRESS†THROUGH 2008 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
Great news for Harry Shearer and Brokaw mimics everywhere. Also haters of LA will delight in listening to him mangle that city’s name again.
I’ll bet he’s praying mkkain doesn’t pick Lamar Alexander or Linda Lingle as a running mate. Same for O’Bama and Hill’ry or Kathleen Sebelius.
Oh boy, if they are right about Tim Pawlenty… :omg:
Hey Druid, I like the whatever P, it’s unique.
President Bush is more likely to attack Iran if he thinks Senator Barack Obama may be elected, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol told FOX News Sunday morning.

Is this the admission that our warmonger in chief has been, uh, warmongering, for political advantage? :reaper:
This is some fun video
McCain’s “Unpatriotic†Words Caught On Tape
Is the only game the cons have is to talk over people with whom they disagree?
Warning – KVH :hubba:
This might be a better video link for my last post

Maybe if CBS dumps her over her remarks on the Daily Show, NBC could hire as a special correspondent to Press the Meat…
Lara Logan! :hubba: :hubba: :hot:
I guess Brokaw has to take that PTM gig since that narrator voice of Superman properties hasn’t quite worked out for him.
Did anybody bother to watch Snufalufagus with Jeffery Sachs? I just finished reading the chapter in “The Shock Doctrine” that tells about how Sachs helped destroy the russian middle-class (just as he or other friedmanites destroyed the Bolivian, Chiliean etc, etc middle-class). Jesus Christ, the friedmanites even helped set-up the crypto-fascist-communist free market capitalism that’s destroying lives and the enviroment in China :fustrate:
Sachs feels some regrets about how we treated russia- so he says.
Anyway, maybe it was an interesting interview. :jerk:

I had a scary experience, yesterday. I met someone whom we’ve known for 25 years. He told me that he didn’t think anyone would vote for Obama, because he’s a Muslim.
Trying not to choke, I told him Obama was not Muslim.
“Yeah,” he said. “Then why is his middle name Hussein?”
Fortunately this person does not vote.
I watched the segment with Sachs. He talks like a dem. Who impressed me was Sen. Ed Markey-D. Here’s some talking points that I remember.
Exxon made 40 B last year. Spent 32 B buying their own stock back…., so they could make billions more.
Left unsaid- how many BILLIONS of dollars in subsidies that were payed to exxon by the taxpayers.
They spent 10 million on alternative energy- probably walking around money for the chairman.
They’ve got thousands of acres of land leases in the 48 states, 80% of which they’ve not explored- yet……….,
we must drill the caribou first and then the seals and then kill the polar bears because that’s where the oil is.
Wait, Wait… makes CBS Sunday Morning
re 12 wow 😥

Transcribed by listener Junkered , who says I’m fun to type, Maron- not so much. May she/he always find themselves so bored!
This is AWESOME.
I didn’t know about it ahead of time. I think PJs Niece & Nephew from Florida (Randi Rhodes territory :spank: ) may have been interested in participating if they knew about it — they both seem like really good people. We met them today for lunch with their Mom & Dad — PJs older brother & S-I-L. All good peeps. :jesus:
