The I-35 bridge in Minneapolis reopened this morning (100 days ahead of schedule). I can only imagine how much easier that will make life for everybody in the Twin Cities area. Not sure I’d have wanted to be the first person over, though.
If only we could fix the whole financial industry thing in 13 months. It’s particularly difficult here in NY State, since we’re out even more tax revenue over this mess, in a year when they’ve already had to make deep cuts in non-essential areas – like schools and hospitals. They say the recent collapses have already negated $475 million in budget cuts the NYS Legislature enacted in an emergency summer session this year. I sure hope they don’t have to rescind tax cuts for rich people and corporations.
Looks like McCain thinks Spain is part of Latin America, and isn’t willing to meet with the Prime Minister (‘cuz he’s one of them Socialists, which is worse than being an al-kayder, I think).
And then there’s this from RFK Jr:
Fascist writer Westbrook Pegler, an avowed racist who Sarah Palin approvingly quoted in her acceptance speech for the moral superiority of small town values, expressed his fervent hope about my father, Robert F. Kennedy, as he contemplated his own run for the presidency in 1965, that “some white patriot of the Southern tier will spatter his spoonful of brains in public premises before the snow flies.”
That’s not change we can believe in.
Back to my least preferred location this morning, which kinda sucks. Could be some light at the end of the tunnel in that respect. We’ll have to see how things go.
Have a good one.
Question that I hope to get answered before this day is done. Why, when the government bailed out Chrysler in the seventies, did it require an act of congress after much debate and then the government could give a $85 BILLION dollar loan to AIG without so much as a phone call to the leaders (both thug and dems) of congress? :fu: :jason:

the shock doctrine folks, is in full effect
where’s my machine-gun emmo?
I think it’s because the Fed is a quasi-government institution (with both public and private components), and has a great deal of (perhaps even total) autonomy in how it conducts business.
As long as Bushco is nationalizing industries perhaps they could nationalize healthcare and/or energy. If we’re going to go socialist, at least let’s help the proletariat.
Off to work!
What kind of commie claptrap is that? Real Americans don’t get sick. Man up, why don’t you.
😆
The shock doctor is in the house and he sez there isn’t going to be any health-care or social security. At least over your dead body. :reaper: :jason: :fist:
Maron on Conan
You can go to chapters on the bottom left hand side of video. Check out Loudon Wainwright after Maron.
I recorded Conan last night, in HD, even, but haven’t had a chance to watch. Was there anything good on before Maron, or should I just skip ahead (and, if I should skip, how far in is he)?
Crank Widow Palin thanks you for your support.
Just watched the Maron. Ray Liotta was OK ..I like Conan so enjoyed his quick wit.
Was Maron in Fargo or Boise (or does it matter?)
So I’ve been away for a while but unclear as to whether Marc has been hired back to Air America. Conan introduced him as “former” Air America radio host.
:knit:
Marc is being paid by AAR, and probably in cash after his experience. :tap: Conan is a little behind in his info.
Well, technically he is not a radio show host at the moment. He is to be the co-host of a daily videocast from AAR.
Here’s a personal blog from Celtic Diva, someone who used to post on the Air America blog in Anchorage.
Here’s a link for today’s M vs S

See Marc sign his divorce papers!
I thought that was very sad, as necessary as it might have been.
Well, at least he can move on now. It sux to be stuck to a losing battle. I’m happy for him. She was a gold digger. :pirate:
She was a metal maven, as well as a gold digger. The only metal that I even came close to appreciate was Motorhead. Why that was so, I can’t put my finger on.
Yeaqh, that was another thing that grossed me out about her. I hate most metal, it’s stupid. :fu:
There was one or two Metallica songs I liked, but mostly because they remind me of a certain time in my life.
I’m listening to The Flaming Lips. Now there’s a great band, willing to experiment and and change their sound. Plus I saw them waaaay early on when they opened for Snakefinger. I fell in love at first sight. I only caught the last 2 minutes of their set and I immediately bought their cd and t shirt.
Do You Realize?
The Flaming Lips make me feel good. They evoke emotions.
Race For The Prize
Flight Test
It seems I have started quite a discussion about our notorious Sheriff Fascist Bully Boy(AKA Joe Arpaio, I’m sure you’ve heard of him). Most want him out but there are a few who think his abuses of human rights is okay. Here is the letter I wrote to the listserve. I am just so sick and tired of the sheeple who support this asshole. He is arrogant and doesn’t give a crap about human rights or dignity and uses intimidation tactics against the only publication that will stand up to him in this town. He’s out and I’m gonna help to get him out. :fu: 😡
