So, the market’s down, oil is way up, and the dollar plummets. I guess it’s time for everybody to get out there and stimulate the economy. Those of us that are healthy and employed, that is. Those that are sick and/or poor? Well, to quote Dick Cheney, “go fuck yourself.”
Have a nice day.
Hey, KP, I heard your Dream Diary call this morning on Sedition Radio (with Jimmy Carter and his two-tone pickup truck).
The Today Show is at the University of Tampa this morning. I had the local NBC news on getting ready for work. They’re doing a remote from there, interviewing Al Roker, etc. Someone was holding up a sign that read:
Sarah Palin… Because Paris Hilton said
“Thanks, but no thanks!”
:rofl2:
Sarah Palin… Because Paris Hilton said
“Thanks, but no thanks!â€
Great sign.
Gotta go to work. Don’t want to, but must.

I think I heard them say it might be at a different time (earlier) and a little short today.
NBC Poll: Obama Leads in Florida
Obama leads McCain in the Tampa Bay area (Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, and Polk counties) by a 49%-43% margin. Mason-Dixon pollster Brad Coker says the key to winning Florida statewide is usually through Tampa Bay, and Obama’s six-point lead in the area explains why he’s ahead in this poll.
Corporate India is in shock after a mob of sacked workers bludgeoned to death the chief executive who had dismissed them from a factory in a suburb of Delhi.
Lalit Kishore Choudhary, 47, the head of the Indian operations of Graziano Transmissioni, an Italian-headquartered manufacturer of car parts, died of severe head wounds on Monday afternoon after being attacked by scores of laid-off employees, police said.
The incident, in Greater Noida, just outside the Indian capital, followed a long-running dispute between the factory’s management and workers who had demanded better pay and permanent contracts.

It certainly pays to be Treasury Secretary if your former firm is a brokerage house, a new study says.
Goldman Sachs Group — formerly run by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, and Morgan Stanley, stand to be among the biggest beneficiaries of a $700 billion US bailout.

Vernon, thanks for posting the audios and videos of MvS. It’s appreciated.
KP, how are you feeling? Better I hope.
I’ve got to go mark test. Ugh.
OK, sorry. Wednesday’s show will probably be at a different time.
Still feeling weird. I’m thinking it’s not a cold and maybe it’s something blood sugar related. I’m gonna see my naturopathic doc today.
KP- There is some virus going around that makes you feel dizzy.
My houseguest had it and I have been feeling it. Like a cold that is settled in the ears. :knit:
Great, it was probably created by the pharmeceutical companies or the military. 😯
Anyone read The Stand, by Stephen King?? :omg:
I just watched 12 Monkeys recently too. :fire:
12 Monkeys, good movie. Also 28 Days Later. Read The Stand a few times. Another good one that Stephen King credits for inspiration for The Stand is Earth Abides by George R. Stewart. Read it back in high school the first time, and for years thought it would be great to live in a world where 96% of the human race died off (and there were still dogs).
I figure there are enough books, DVDs, and canned food out there to keep me busy (and gasoline and generators are free for the pickin’).

Today’s class was mildly disastrous. I stumbled a little bit with the instantaneous rates of change problems. It’s not that I couldn’t do them, it’s just that the other younger people could do them faster. The professor came up to me trying to make small talk since we are familiar with each other and I sort of admitted that I didn’t know what I was doing. He gave me the terse explanation and drifted to the other side of the class. My thinking went bonkers and then all of a sudden the class ended. Walking to my car turned into a blur. In the parking lot someone almost didn’t yield to me and I had to mildly swerve to avoid their car. Instead of taking my usual right I took a left, not really sure why. I think because that person that didn’t yield to me was behind me and I didn’t want to take a left and almost hit someone and embarrass myself with the huge blind spot for all vehicles taking that left are faced with. Somehow I ended up on the freeway…Eventually I made it home, discovered in the driveway that I only had the cover to my calculator and not the actually piece of shit I need to do other shit with. No plug and chug with that ol’ TI :joe:
I found the cal. It slid off of my books from the passenger’s seat and into the door’s pocket compartment. Like a little Joey in its Marsupial pouch. Maybe

Here’s on for ya Vern.
Hey blue that’s what I’ve got, had a dizzy spell driving up the blue route to work and thought I was going to black out. Maybe it’s Bush/Cheney bird flu.
Well, the doc visit was very good. My doc is a naturopath, chiropracter, acupuncturist and also has a degree in psychology. He wraps it all up into a holistic practice that integrates the physical and emotional and maybe a little spiritual. I layed on the table and he did the thing where he shifts the feet around and looks at your body seeming to gauge something. I told him that I was feeling light headed and he asked me if I was also having trouble with my sight, and I was. It was a little blurry and grainy. I told him that I had been very angry and disgusted for over a week and told him that I had recently quit smoking, maybe it was the toxins being released that was making me feel that way. He said no. I told him about the virus going around and he said it wasn’t viral.Asked me if I had some issues and I told him of my frustration in my career and about all the rejection I’ve had this summer. He had me pick a number between 1-10, I think I picked 6 and he brought out an essence, some kind of cactus essence. Put it under my tongue and did some adjustments. Then he put an acupuncture needle in the top of my head and had me lay quietly with the wedges under my butt(I love the wedges!) He had me pick another number between 1-13 and I was gonna be a smart ass and pick 14 and he laughed and I picked 4. He read out of a book and described my frustration perfectly, absolutely perfectly. I had anger alright but I was angry at myself for being such a failure. We talked about some options for the future and how I was stuck in a rut with the solutions I was trying and needed to look at things from a different point of view and come up with something I hadn’t considered before. We talked about the issues of the day a bit and he had me sit up and used that clicker thing on my upper back and then had me pick another number between 1-20 and I picked 15 or 16, I think. Spearmint. He put a couple of drops on my wrists and had me rub them together and take a whiff. After leaving I didn’t feel angry anymore and my eyesight had cleared and my head felt much less buzzy. I’m still not feeling the rage I’ve been feeling all week. I know it sounds pretty wacky but he’s been very effective for me. I’ve been seeing him since 1997. I was his first patient and he didn’t even have an office back then, I went to his apartment! He helped me get through my last year of college when I was freaking out about graduating with an art degree. He’s awesome. :gate: :pup:

Gingrich (R-Ga.) said he thinks Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is trying to scare lawmakers into passing the bailout plan quickly and without thorough study.
“I think what Paulson hopes to do is say, ‘If you don’t do exactly what I want you to do, the whole world’s going to collapse on Tuesday’,†Gingrich said.
The former Speaker, talking to reporters at a lunch, added that he expects Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) to back the plan. He predicted that, if Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) ends up opposing the administration proposal, there will be an overnight “emergence of a McCain/reform wing of the Republican Party.â€
Gingrich said that occurrence would turn the election on its head, with Republicans running ads that feature Obama with President Bush on the same team in pushing for a “nightmare†bailout plan.
The former Speaker said that by November, the flaws in the plan will be apparent, and voters will “break against anyone who votes for it.â€

Clearly, I am suffering a severe case of dizzy virus because now I agree with Newt Gingrich! :tinfoil:
Over the objection of the White House, the House of Representatives on Tuesday overwhelmingly passed legislation to curb what its sponsors regard as abuses and unfair practices in the credit-card industry.
By a vote of 312-112, The Credit Cardholders Bill of Rights Act sailed through the House amid a new political climate of increased regulation and oversight of the credit and finance industry.
However, the legislation faces an unclear future in the Senate, where members are focused on crafting and passing the financial bailout. The White House is seeking quick passage of the Wall Street rescue measure before Congress adjourns on Friday, which would make action on the credit-card legislation unlikely in the near future.

in other words, OUR representatives don’t have time for US.
Cripes, Obama better not vote for that. Man! I’d get all angry again and have to go see the good Doc. He CAN’T vote for that, he’s just trying to scare us.

Profound impact on my youth. :hubba: :omg:
No Wednesday thread? I hope PJ is feeling OK. It’s 6:45 M and I have to go to the Bronx. It’s a 20 mile trip but it will take an hour and require $10 in tolls.
