So, sounds like Sarah and Johnny aren’t exactly playing well together. Gee, that’s too bad. It’ll be nice to get this election over with and see Palin fade into the northern horizon, and McCain go back and wait out what’s left of his Senate term in well-deserved obscurity (he and Liebermann can go off into some dark corner of the Senate Office Building and engage in mutual masturbation for a few years). As long as this AP poll is just an outlier (or a deliberate attempt to skew things), that is. I much prefer Chris Bowers’ electoral map, which has Obama over 270 in states where he leads by 7% or more, with a good shot at 306 and in play for up to 384 electoral votes.
I agree with Larry David, though. This is worse than waiting for lab results.
Far be it for me to question the “paper of record,” but does this story really rate sports front page status?
Syracuse must be very important to someone at the Times, PJ. You’re not moonlighting over there re you?
Lincoln’s got another series of amazing photos, today. Bees, butterflies and sparrows. Only a couple of Palemale and Lola. They must have eluded him yesterday afternoon.

On my Google homepage there is a “How to of the Day.” Everyday there is another how-to and they range all over the place from knitting instructions to car repair. But, today’s was really an unsettling sign of the times:
How to Live in Your Car.
The accompanying articles about how to crap outside and how to build a ‘poop tube’ are equally insightful.
Though, for the poop tube, I think one would need the restaurant-sized commercial coffee filters. Your basic 12-cupper seems a bit on the small size.
I don’t think Palin is going to fade into anything. She will be the face of what is hopefully a movement in decline. She will be their symbol and new leader. It might be a good thing and then again, there might be enough stupidity out there to make it work.
Then again, she may go back to Alaska and end up thrown out of office or into the moosegaw.
If the polls that currently show her being the biggest drag on McCain’s campaign (even more than Bush and the economy) are true, I don’t think she’ll be wanted when all this is over. She has some ethics charges to face back in Alaska, too. Unless they can steal this for McCain, IMHO she’s got less of a national political future than Dan Quayle.
If they could have delayed announcing her as VP candidate until a week before the election, she’d be a star. As it is, the country has gotten to see her, and the sheeple don’t like her one bit.
I think what disturbs me most about that article Sue is the matter-of-factness about it. That and my smart is way too small. More talk about layoffs at work and they’re cutting back everyone’s hours.
Alan Greenspan just shot Reaganomics and Republican fiscal policy in the head.
Greenspan Says Flaw in Market System
If I could see the problem then why couldn’t he? I have some change in my pocket which makes me just as qualified as this idiot to be Chairman of the Federal Reserve.
In Greenspan’s defense, it’s probably hard to concentrate with Andrea Mitchell’s tongue in your ear.
Andy, you can always come up and live in my van. You’ll have to shovel out the mulch first, though.
morning folks!
great pix and article, thanks Sue P!
winter and economic crunch is taking it’s toll even up here.
Morning!
So how do you add the little pictures to the right => of your name? I leave for a while and you get fancy. :billcat:
Hi SJ, hey FK. Kat, go to Gravatar.com and register with the e-mail address you used when you registered here (you can also change your e-mail address for here, by the way, by going into your profile and changing your e-mail address. Then you can use the new address when you register with Gravatar). Then follow the instructions to upload a picture. Your avatar will show up next to your posts within about 10 minutes or so.
thanks pj. Do you have to use the same nickname, too?
Nope, just the e-mail address.
Yep, pretty easy to change everything… :knit:
Hey, so, I’m watching Jeff Farias on the internets. I guess he had a near tragedy last night when someone came into his house and held his son hostage for 2 hours. I guess the guy was pulled over by an officer and pulled a gun and ran and went into the first house that the door was unlocked where his son was. I think Jeff may have been in his studio or somewhere near involved in something. I missed the very beginning so didn’t hear the whole show. I think the guy is in custody now. I called in to the show and said that this sort of thing will probably increase because of the economy. People are getting desperate.

Thanks for the link, KP.
Remember when the stock market gurus were telling everyone one that this is a consumer based economy and that the consumer was keeping America growing and prosperous? Well, turns out stock market gurus have no loyalty, for now they are saying this whole mess is because consumers bought too much.
Oh, and the NYC council overturned term limits so that Mayor Bloomberg can run again. The same billionaire, Ron Lauder who bankrolled the original term limits effort, has decided he likes Bloomy and so 3 terms will be just ducky. Bloomy, in turn, has promised Lauder a seat on the charter commission which will reinstate term limits. They will only be lifted, again, if Lauder likes the candidate.
The original term limits law was enacted in a public referendum TWICE. But, they were rescinded by a simple majority vote of the council, all the members of which will now be able to run for a 3rd term.
So, DirecTV has a thing on their DVRs that downloads things in the background. Typically they’re things like guides on how to use services or equipment, and sometimes on demand movies and such. Today, I noticed two new things – Obama campaign videos. One was his story, and one was Michelle’s. I assume they were the ones that aired at the convention, but I’d never seen them before. Both were very well done and really made me feel even better about voting for Obama on Nov. 4. The main thing is how smart and tech-savvy his campaign is for doing this. Just like the ads in video games. Of the many things we need in a new president, I honestly believe that we need a president (and legislators) that understand and can make use of technology. Grampy McCain can’t even use a computer. How can he possibly lead us where we need to go in the 21st century?
NEW YORK — Scott McClellan, President Bush’s former press secretary, says he is backing Barack Obama for president.
McClellan made the endorsement during a taping of Comedian D.L. Hughley’s new show that is premiering on CNN this weekend. The former Bush administration official said he wanted to support the candidate that has the best chance for changing the way Washington works and getting things done.
John McCain’s election night watch party might be missing John McCain. Instead of appearing before a throng of supporters at the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix on the evening of Nov. 4, the Republican presidential nominee plans to deliver postelection remarks to a small group of reporters and guests on the hotel’s lawn.
Aides said Thursday that the arrangement was due to space limitations and that McCain might drop by the election watch party at some other point.
