Looks like you guys were pretty busy yesterday. So, I guess it takes a black guy getting elected president to get us over 10 comments these days.
It will be interesting to see how the cabinet shapes up, and whether Rahm Emanuel makes a good Leo McGarry or not (though Obama is closer to Matt Santos than Jeb Bartlett). So far, it looks like Obama will be getting a nice honeymoon as new president. I certainly hope he can get some things accomplished quickly, but the past eight years have been a huge money grab that have left this country devastated. I don’t know if anybody can fix things at this point – certainly not right away. Oh well, at least gas is getting cheaper.
Salon has a nice collection of conventional wisdom and other predictions from all those smart pundits out there, like:
I was just listening to Bill Press and he was talking about an insider to the McCain campaign leaking that there were huge gaps in Palin’s knowledge about the structure of government and that she didn’t know who were members of the North American Union and that Africa is a continent, not a country. WOW! :smack:
There is one thing that Pres. Obama is going to be able to do: name new members of the Supreme Court. I suspect that Stevens is planning his retirement party. Ginsburg too, perhaps.
Back to work today, and feeling sick. Surprisingly, not from the post-election celebration. I ate out yesterday and I think I was poisoned. Up twice last night in the middle of the night and got next to no sleep.
I will, however, be polite and try not to hurl directly on the blog.
:barf:
I am hereby nominating myself for FDA director. As long as we’re filling out Obama’s Cabinet.
Yeah, the Supremes will be interesting, though I hope the ‘left’ doesn’t get too down on Obama when a Ginsburg gets replaced with a ‘moderate.’ Maybe I’m wrong, but I think most of what he does will be down the center. I just hope the Republicans and DINOs don’t take advantage of his intentions to ‘unite’ the country.
But I’ve decided to wait a week at least before I start complaining that Obama hasn’t fixed all our problems yet. I might even wait for hm to be sworn in.
I also think Bush is relieved to be just about done with all this mess he’s created, and happy to get back to clearing imported brush on his fake ranch, playing golf, and fishing off Kennebunkport.
Here’s the clip about Palin’s African expertise:

A woman I work with was talking on the phone with her mom who lives in Tusgaloosa, AL as they were calling the election for Obama. Her mom heard gunshots and had to hang-up to go see what was happening. She called back and said it must have been someone celebrating.
Yesterday as she was driving to work she noticed that someone had shot out the face of Obama on a big campaign sign.
Let’s all visualize a protection bubble around the Obama family. My brother was saying that he is getting all sorts of very offensive and vulgar text messages and emails from people about Obama. He is in the construction field. I told him to forward them to me, I don’t see stuff like that in the field of art.
KP- how did the job interview go?
The interview is tomorrow at 11 am.
Al Franken’s Razor-Thin MN Senate Race Counted on Flawed Optical-Scan Systems
Here are three quick, bullet-point facts that Franken may want to know, since his was the only show on Air America which never had me on as a guest, as he simply refused to discuss serious issues concerning Election Integrity, now-ironically enough.
I noticed the re-emergence of the Franken haters, the O’Bama deniers, the Nadirites, etc. yesterday. There should be healthy and constructive Criticism and skepticism from all sides but sometimes negativity and cynicism and lies are just shrill, defeating, destructive, ineffective and boring.
Still smarting from the CA Prop 8 victory. Several people have made the point that we voted to set our chickens ‘free’ while choosing to revoke marriage equality for all people.
:smack: :tap:
Malloy was saying it was all the black churches that voted prop 8 in- funded by the mormons.
That had a lot to do with it, I think. I heard some of Malloy but had to get some sleep and he is not available to me otherwise.
It was an interesting twist. The way it usually works is the repugs put these anti-Gay, anti-choice initiatives on the ballots to bring out the fundies who will in turn also back the other repug candidates. This time Dem candidate brought a tremendous African-American turnout including the churches and it was used to kill marriage equality. I heard numerous Blacks who resent the Gays for comparing their struggles for civil rights. It may just be that this one won’t change until old fools of all kind die off and new generations who are beyond all of this kind of crap take control.
All in all, it does not bode well for the gubernatorial aspirations of our Mayor Newsom who was made the poster child/sound bite for the anti-Gay campaign.
I have to drive to the airport in a few minutes. For some reason since I woke up this morning I’ve been thinking of fleeting expletives. I don’t know why.
Hartmann just announced that Jeff Merkley has defeated Gordon Smith and taken his Senate seat from Oregon. Don’t let the Capitol door hit you in the ass on your way out, Gordo.

My Obama take:
Obama- theres a few good points to consider:
oBama ain’t McSame,
he reads,
he’s willing to talk to and help poor people,
he’s just allowed us to shove racism up the ass of every bigoted asshole in america,
his kid’s are not drunk spoiled tweeks,
if you piss off his old lady she probably won’t run you over with her car,
europe asia and the middle east will actually trust him to be sane and deliberate,
he does’nt sound like a half ass drunken rich prick everytime he opens his mouth.
the rest we can work with.
good reads today:

right wing southern friends finally called me…. they were complaining about the uppity blacks outside their polling place. ha! “behave yourselves, we don’t care if you’ve oppressed suppressed and repressed.” Oh geez. I have an international peace treaty with one friend in particular. Cone of Silence.

eya Farmerkat!
good post, i wanted something positive about Rahm to surface.
(not that i’m that fond of his ‘gatekeeper asshole’ moments.)
he’s like most of us i’d guess. a mix of good/bad.
he is a powerful politicker though.
i’ll give him that.
Spitzer’s off the hook.
Wife Michelle had hinted last month that the family would find a dog at the local pound when the election was over – to the delight of dog lovers everywhere.
