I had a dream last night that Barack Obama was riding into a small Western town on a horse. In the town, the people were preparing to welcome their new president by presenting him with a laurel, and hearty handshake. Problem is, they didn’t realize he was black, except for this Gabby Hayes-looking guy up on a rooftop with a spyglass, speaking authentic frontier gibberish (I think it was dubya wearing a fake beard). He saw Obama approaching, and was trying to yell out, “the President’s a n…” but the town’s church bell kept ringing, and they thought he was saying, “the President’s a-comin’!”
Then I woke up, and my bed was filled with Howard Johnson’s ice cream.
Uh-oh, a PJ dream diary a la Marc.
Today is going to be very hectic. There are all sorts of ridiculous errands that I must accomplish before we can leave for Shelter Island. The first is delivering Science Diet’s reducing kibble for my mother’s somewhat less fat cat and of course going to work.
Yesterday I was in a school in Brooklyn that has murals in the lobby painted by a WPA artist. The murals depict a scene of kids and adults playing, walking, talking etc. The people are both black and white, and considering that this was the 1930’s that’s unusual. Like all WPA murals it is realistic.
The nice thing, though, was that WPA put artists to work, too. Perhaps I should send some photos to Obama and suggest he do the same.
“Ah work fer MEL BROOKS!”
:turkey:
Huh, that’s weird, I had a dream about making mint fish ice cream. It was really good, actually.

Was it Count Basie Choclate? :bong:
It is so tempting to link these people to “Possum Christ” ala Marc
Just me and the bots here…. :knit: :knit2:
WTF people…???
Finally made it to Shelter Island. Traffic was petty bad, but gas was down to $2.08 for regular.
Ha! I found gas for $1.89 :nana: I was wondering if it was gonna go below $2
Does HOJO’s have good icecream? Great dream sequence?
Hi Ho Hi Ho 2 pies down one to go!
We’re at 38 N 91 W, otherwise known as the show me state, as in, show me something ’cause there ain’t nothin’ here in Misery….
With THE family.
Good cheer to all of you! And blessings and peace to the suffering in Mumbai.
So, what’s everyone’s menu’s consist of for tomorrow? Someone gave me a friggin 22 lb turkey and I just got it in the brine. :hot: It’s totally worth it though, it really keeps those juices in there. I’m stuffing it with oranges and red onion. Not too much else it’ll take forever to cook. I’m also making:
red and sweet potato swirl
heirloom tomato salad and kalamata dressing salad
home made rosemary rolls
black bean soup(with locally grown Arizona native Tepary beans)
cranberry sauce(of course)
wilted spinach with nutmeg butter
apple pie
pumpkin pie.
How many people are you cooking for?
Not really sure, I am having an orphans thanksgiving for people who have no where to go, people who want to leave their family situation early or avoid it entirely. I’m expecting at least 4 other people at this point. but who knows how many others will show up. I invited a lot of people.
:turkey:
I think I need to make more rolls.
The gravy is the most important part- can’t have too much.
Oh shit, yeah, I need to think about that. I bet I’ll be going to the store again tomorrow. :smack:
It’s hard to make good gravy from the juices alone, it’s safer just to get a packet from the grocery store and mix it in the juices.

I think I’ll be doing that too in a little while. I need to find some heath bar ice cream and some yams.
Thanks Travis, I’m prolly gonna have to go to the store for more alcohol anyways :40: so, I will get a gravy packet or 2. I know, it’s cheating but I’m making everything else from scratch sooo….
heirloom tomato salad and kalamata dressing salad!
Oooooo! yum of yums!

From a vantage point 423 miles above the Earth, the lawless waters of the Gulf of Aden appear tranquil and the 330-metre-long ship sitting low under a £68m cargo looks like a tiny green cigar floating on an inky ocean.
