Granny’s off to work today (lucky her), so I’m home with the boys. Looks like the holiday shopping season was “dismal” this year. That’s not too surprising, but it does make that big pile of shit Barack Obama’s inheriting in 25 days a little bit higher. I guess I’d better help out and do some online shopping today or something.
Happy Boxing Day!

If you ever see “The Birthday Party” don’t go expecting any goddamn icecream and cake.
morning folks!
excellent tune to start the day Vernon! one of my all time favorites beautifully done by Allison and her crew. superb steel guitar licks.
dogs woke me up demanding i repair their squeeker toys, they pop the squeekers into the balls with their fangs and i have to perform surgery to get the squeekers out and reinsert them. mad squeekinessers!
everyone in this town is dialed down cuz of the snow, hardly any traffic on the main road. kids are out and about wading through the snow with everthing from sleds to cardboard boxes. the hills in the hood are tobaggan runs.
life goes on, not a studded snow tire available anywhere, they all got gobbled up by toronto’s new snow tire legislation apparently. i’m delighted to have heat in the garage but i can’t do any painting with Bgurls mustang in the way.
trying to keep my blood sugar down (and succeeding slightly) or i’d make some winter cookies and coffee cake. thank gawd for electricity, gas water heaters, computer access and good books!
It’s dreary and chilly, this day after Christmas and nice to be home and quiet. But, it won’t last long because small grandchild is on her way. Her peripatetic parents spent Christmas traveling to see other relatives and, as a result, Santa had to leave his gift here. She is very anxious to see them.
I am tired of listening to music on crappy computer speakers. I got a pair of small Klipsch speakers that are an improvement but could be better. Anyone have any suggestions?
Heron gave me Bose QuietComfort headphones that are amazing, a few months back. I don’t really know what’s economical or technologically innovative right now though. :ear:
what kind of microscope did you go with? I have a dissecting scope in a box somewhere
http://www.optics-city.com/dissecting.html
My Xmas presents this year are all perishable: locally produced chocolate fudge and some heart attack inducing pastries from Wolferman’s.
Here’s the place where we got the microscope. They deal mainly with schools and students:

This is the microscope we got. It seems to be just right for the little one who is able to focus it easily:

I’ve got the Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 Sue and they kick ass. Maybe it’s the sound card.
i’m looking, too, sue. i have a mac and was looking at this set up.
hear blaine is a mess – snow and all – like sj speaks of ^ up there. Friend called and said i won’t be able to get to my place. no one is plowing.
Now this is just sad. When even the crooks are producing crappy stuff, you know you’re in trouble:
Even fake money isn’t what it used to be
Okay, multiple dog owners. How do you deal with a situation where submissive beta dog is being reprimanded for snatching fudge off the table and alpha dog comes over and starts a fight while beta dog is being reprimanded. Big fight ensues. Dogs separated now, one outside, one inside but my hand gets bitten in trying to break up the fight. No broken skin, just sore as hell. How am I spose to reprimand beta dog without alpha dog getting all alpha on her ass?
KP, I know what to do. do you still have your gmail account? I’ll email you. I had a big problem with Gigi. You might not like it, but it works, it is swift, and you will only have to do it a couple of times. Sheep dogs have to be taught. You can’t live with keeping dogs separated.
This sounds like a job for Sunny Jim. BGurl had a pretty serious dustup with their dogs fighting earlier this year and went to the hospital. sofrajones at telus dot net
Yeah, 49N I still have the gmail. They are in the same room now. Nellie knows I am fucking pissed at her and she doesn’t like that. Lottie doesn’t understand that so well because she is not as attached and possessive but she was the one who went outside.
Nellie needs to mind her own fucking business. :tap:
sleeting here
can hear the drip of melting snow.
just in from the evening walk and we’re all soaked.
even slipperier than it was, almost no traffic atall.
lovely quiet on the walk.
ooo!
dogger fights are a prob.
any therapy has to occur immediately after the brawl.
crate time, a good smack or bite to establish pack leadership limits.
breaking up the fight is the hard part, i use blankets when i can
i grab the dog on the bottom with it.
theres a noise mine make just beforehand.
i hear that noise and i’m in there with them immediately.
theres something to be said for letting them get it out of their system too.
dog jealousy, control issues, pack heirarchy, dominance issues sll those are involved.
maybe bear spray? CO2 fire extiguisher works like a champ and is non toxic.
