So, St. John McCain had his big “man of the people” moment yesterday, chastising President Obama because Bush ordered a new fleet of helicopters. Attaboy, John, you’re still relevant. Really.
As for Obama and the Bush legacy, I’m more disturbed by Obama’s DOJ siding with the Bush administration in seeking to dismiss the lawsuit brought by CREW and the National Security Archive. The groups are seeking access to Bush White House emails from time periods such as the run-up to the invasion of Iraq, and the investigation into the Valerie Plame leak. Sure seems like once these people become President, they back each other on everything (at least, on everything that may limit their own Presidential powers). Oh well, what the hell, nothing to see here anyway. Move along.
Speaking of things that are nobody’s business, Karl Rove once again ignored a subpoena, failing to appear before the House Judiciary Committee. I think John Conyers may need to issue a stern press release (and a fundraising e-mail) over this. Not to worry, though. There’s a March 4 deadline on the Obama administration to rule on the Bush executive privilege claims for Harriet Miers and Josh Bolten, which would have implications on Rove’s case, should it go to court. Any bets on whether Obama will back Bush on this one, too?
Still, Obama seems to have the confidence (and patience) of the people (at least in terms of fixing the ecoomy), who see the Republicans for the obstructionist assholes they are (not that you’d know it from the attention and credibility the traditional media seems to afford them). I really wish Obama would forget about playing nice with these douchebags, and just ram through a progressive agenda while he still has high popularity numbers (give it to ’em hard, Barack, like Congress is Larry Craig and you’re a frequent flier).
Hey, Lent starts tomorrow, so you better go out there and get it out of your systems today. Just try and stay out of jail.
Oh yeah, and show us your :boobs:
Here’s another poll:
Large majorities of Americans support President Barack Obama’s plans to revive the economy and his efforts to work across party lines, according to a pair of public opinion polls released Monday.
One month into his presidency, a Washington Post-ABC News poll found 68 percent of Americans approve of Obama’s job performance.
Sixty-four percent of respondents supported the administration’s $787 billion economic stimulus package and the same percentage backed his proposal to prevent housing foreclosures, the Washington Post reported.

Sullenberger, a 58-year-old who joined a US Airways predecessor in 1980, told the House aviation subcommittee that his pay has been cut 40 percent in recent years and his pension has been terminated and replaced with a promise “worth pennies on the dollar” from the federally created Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. These cuts followed a wave of airline bankruptcies after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks compounded by the current recession, he said.
“The bankruptcies were used by some as a fishing expedition to get what they could not get in normal times,” Sullenberger said of the airlines. He said the problems began with the deregulation of the industry in the 1970s.
The reduced compensation has placed “pilots and their families in an untenable financial situation,” Sullenberger said. “I do not know a single professional airline pilot who wants his or her children to follow in their footsteps.”

Sullenberger is the pilot who successfully ditched his plane in the Hudson River, of course.
“No one would dispute that these governors should be given the choice as to whether to accept the funds or not. But it should not be multiple choice,” Schumer writes in a letter to Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag.
Schumer argues that the stimulus plan is a comprehensive approach, and rejecting portions of the package of it would undermine it. “To protect the integrity of the recovery program, I urge the administration to issue implementation guidance clarifying that while any Governor may exercise his or her discretion to accept or reject the federal funds provided in the stimulus, no Governor should have the authority to arbitrarily adopt a select subset of the overall package,” writes Schumer

Good for Schumer!
If California Assemblyman Tom Ammiano has his way, the Golden State might become known as the Green State to pot smokers around the country.
During a press conference Monday morning in San Francisco, Ammiano introduced “The Marijuana Control, regulation and education act.” The far-reaching bill would go well beyond decriminalization of marijuana to actually legalize the cultivation, sale, purchase and possession of the plant.

I dunno, I would think water crash landings would be better than one on land. I can swim, of course.
Yeah, I dunno about that name, “on second thought”. Sounds like your not sure of what you are. And every time they go through a change, I like fewer hosts. They made a huge mistake getting rid of Farias.
Dr. Mike completely sux.
