Yes, after nearly two years, it’s the much anticipated return of the Soprano’s on HBO tonight. Before that, though, we have to suffer through another day of the bobbleheads. As usual, let’s start off with another exciting Press the Meat. Joining Timmy Potatohead this week are – oh boy – Republican George Allen, and Senator MBNA himself, Joe Biden, to talk about how great Iraq is, no doubt, and maybe to pretend we’re all fooled by the UAE turning over our ports to a American-owned “entity.” After that, it’s flag-waving, Iraq-glorifying time as Tummuh welcomes Michael Gordon (he of the “Aluminum Tubes Proves Iraq Wants Nukes” story fame) and retired Marine General Bernard Trainor to talk about their new book, “Cobra II: The Inside Story of the Invasion and Occupation of Iraq.” Inside story, meaning they hung out with Rummy and his crew, and swallowed whatever shit they were fed.
They refuse to say who Bush Buddy BillyBob Schieffer is going to have on Fazed the Nation tomorrow, but Bob was pretty funny and seemed to have a good sense of humor on Colbert this week, so I’ll cut him some slack. They gotta stop getting AAR to do their website, though.
Good news/Bad news on This Weak with George Snufalufagus. The good news is Senator Russ Feingold. The bad news is Bill the Cat (Killer) Frist. Maybe Russ will ask Bill how his ’08 presidential campaign is coming along. Then at the roundtable, it’s Donna “Great job on that Gore campaign” Brazile, Time’s Jay Carney, Claire Shipman and of course George :jerk: Will. Then it’s Art Buchwald, who is currently in a DC area hospice with failing kidneys, having made the courageous decision to forego dialysis or other medical intervention, and die with dignity. Best wishes Art, you were always the best read in the Sunday paper.
On Fucking Fox News Sunday with Chris Fuckface Wallace, it’s Republican vs. Republican, with Duncan “Donuts” Hunter and some clod named Mike Pence on to pretend that Dubai won’t still be calling the shots on the ports deal, and then Chris Dodd from CT will be on to endorse Ned Lamont in ’06 (well, we can hope, can’t we?).
Over on George Galloway’s radio program, well, here, George can say it better than I can (mp3 link). I listened to his show yesterday, and man, what a fast-paced show; he must’ve taken a hundred callers. It sure sounds like the Labor Party supporters are pretty disgusted with their Party in general, and Blair specifically. They sound a lot like Democrats – not happy with what they have, but not really keen on returning to the days of Thatcher and Major.
CNN Sunday Morning is on from 7AM – 10AM Eastern, so there’s no reason not to sleep in.
Later, on 60 Minutes, Leslie Stahl talks to some doctors to discover why people are gay (hey, Leslie, could it be that hairdo of yours?), Ed Bradley talks to Boston’s Irish mob boss, James “Whitey” Bulger’s former right hand man, Lara Logan (Lara Logan? Who the hell is that?) talks about her visit to Tal Afar, Iraq, and Andy Rooney bitches about telephone poles or something.
Then it’s an all-new epoisode of the West Wing (but it’s a freakin’ “White House Wedding,” so don’t get your hopes up), before we finally get see what’s up with Tony and the boys.
First!
Posted this about an hour ago, on the Saturday blog.
I’m working on a kids’ book now, might as well . . . maybe it’ll be less painful when I’m out of it.
Mornin’, PJ.
I gotta stop crappin’ around and get to work on my War of 1812 book!
citizenkahn, If you are still there How are YOU?!? and tennis 😉 Hope all is better……
I am leaving in a wee bit  to try to move my sleep time to before 6am. But must have :40: (wawa) — I am soooooo boring.
The book by http://www.dailykos.com founder got a review of his new book on the editorial page of the nytimes today.

What’s the show today/tonight?
The plow driver probably said to himself, “I’m not goin’ out in this shit” 😉
SeanMS Be Well, I read how you almost didn’t make it out of South Dak. I have to reread, but it make me :growl: You are amazing. How dare these jerks. They do not deserve to be called a part of the U.S. :barf: :jason: SLIMES :jerk:JERKS:!:

VIGILANCE!
:fire:
I am listening/watching it the 2nd time:!:
Sean, awesome film by Burnt Page :fist:
Mornin’, afternoon, evenin’…y’all.
Cit, I hope Otis gets much better really soon!
On a happier note: The Sopranos! Yes. Finally. Best TV drama ever. (Six Feet Under almost made to that lofty level but maybe not quite. Apparently the series is going to be shown later this year on Bravo.)
Thanks again, PJ, for the sunday line-up. You start my Sundays right.
Sean, your Truck’n Literature would made a FATASTIC marc Maron book club (in a non-institutional kind of way). I VOTE FOR IT. However, if you must put the evil-doers on your list, I will heartily protest.
cbs made her their chief foreign correspondent and she has very little experience to back up that title; most accounts agree that she got to the top in, let’s say, an “unconventional way.” Or should that be conventional? ummmmmm
Good morning everybody!
GREAT video SeanMS. I put my flag flying proudly (when not storming to badly) with a black sash — in honour of the dead. Tomorrow/Today I will have to listen again and then I have to see how to get………..I would love to play it (the music part) loudly, especially when flag is outside. Ahhhhh you might see why I am so impresssed with you going into the Belly of the Beast areas TOXICSLIMESJERKS :jerk: with a good punch :fist:
Breathe Morrigan, Breathe — I am suppose to be going to sleep, but then I read how you SeanMS were ssssssoooooooooooo mistreated. Without ever using your name, can I call many people to complain how you were harassed:!::?::!:
:fu:
ARREST!
IMPEACH! (format by KevinM)
VIGILANCE!
don’t you find this sentence odd? Strange that most Christians are not inclusive yet don’t have that perception of themselves.
==> MORNING EVERYONE! (I forgot my manners.)
And I too forgot my manners. It is Sunday. Be Well All. Also G’Day To All.
It is a good day here. Again, My Flag With a Black Sash will be flying.
FK, yes I read that comment a couple of times. I guess today’s Christian is seen as noninclusive. Sad, because Jesus, was by all accounts inclusive, at least that was the message I got growing up.
PJ- another great map through the moring maze for us…and what a maze it is! I think you may have missed your calling with the IT thing as opposed to becoming a writer! Did you see the NY Magazine article about bloggers ever? If not I can xerox and send you a copy. I dont think it was ever onlie and dont know if I can textbridge it into my computer without going insane because my printer all-in-one has a life of its own….but I could try!!
CK- I am so there with you…I guess the thig here is that they thik that Otis will eat from your hand and will eat treats like coldcuts. My vet always has me bring whatever is the most loved junk food on visits…and we take the collar off for the visits and hand feed as much as possible.
For my dogs its always coldcuts, though when Coco was really on the way out I broiled her some fresh salmon and she gobbled that down…and fancy steak works too cut in tiny pieces. It makes her passing a bit more bearable in that I know she was sitting in front of the fire and eating fantastic foods in her last days!
Also bring a few little jars of baby food in case meat/fish is too much. It is so much preferable to a feeding tube!…Is Otis at the Animal Medical Center on the east side? They really shoulda sent y ou out to a deli to get something first rather than even considering a tube.
Sean- My bro-in-law is from Fargo and his dad, before retirement, was the guy in charge of the snowplows for the whole city…They LOVE snow and laugh in the face of it…It is pretty insane, but….oh well. These Nordic transplants have it in their blood so no wonder that is the part of the country they settled. Whats worse are the bugs up there inn the summer. People wear those screen hats with the veils that pull down. My sister’s explanation of a big family gathering up there was so hysterical that we had tears streaming down our faces by then end of it…Its Brooklyn meets Fargo!…and I guess you could say that sums up their marriage too….better or worse!
Just drive carefully….somewhere a snowplow driver is sitting saying “this is nuthin”….Strange about the whole abortion thing up there. There is a big Lutheran thig going on and they tend to be pretty independent people who really respect privacy. They actually dont really seem to talk much at all, and they are very supportive of eachother…but not especially super conservative or religious.
I need to get Marc’s book!
so, I also got the email from Democrats.com Unity who want to attack the Dems who they say are “blocking” impeachment.
I have to look around a bit because Ive only seen this here and in email from this group, but am I wrong to think that its better to have a house/sentate majority to do this?
I understand that every day things get worse, but what can be done if the votes are not there to actually go ahead with investigation and hearings?
I want to impeach and get the troops home…and all the support systems too, such as Mr….But what happens if a bunch of minority without the full votes to get it done starts this process? Is it to make a statement? And does it make the party look fractured and not organized?
Again, Im back to lookig at what THEY did, which was stealth planning over time, and then launch when youve got the power!….I think that a big problem with the Dems is that we go off half cocked and oe hand doesnt know what the other is doing. How would Rove do this?….
I dont want to turn into them but I want to get the power back and do impeachment and crimial trials so that they stick!
Am I wrong? Have I lost my idealism?
hang in there, ck, it sounds lke a long haul you’re on. the food thing sounds like a great idea. Get Otis eating and he’ll feel better. slow & steady
Isi, that’s what I thought about religion, too, but guess it’s now an exclusive club. Maybe that’s what paul & peter wanted but I’m not so sure Jesus would have been hip to it.
off to get the papers and contribute to deforestation.
The Republicans – majority or minority – would be voting in one solid block to impeach, They’d have their minions out on the teevee constantly, yammering indignantly about how terrbile and criminal President Democrat is. They’d probably even get a few DINOs to vote along with them. I say get the process rolling to the extent that you can, and get it out there so that when you get a majority in the House (hopefully), Impeachment is a household word.
So, maybe this movement to start now is part of the yammering…? Im just worried because they are suggesting that we go after Dean and some of our best people out there, and it just seems like almost some sort of inside job to make us eat our own. They are saying that Dean ad Pelosi etc…a re “against” impeachment…instead of they might be against it right at this moment when we dont have the votes.
I have never heard from this group but its ot the kind of Democratic “unity” that Im interested in.
I’d just like to see the Democrats all stand up and say, “of course both he and Cheney should be impeached. Not because this is the most incompetent and destructive administration in US history, but beacuse, in addtion to that, it’s also the most criminal.”
But, it won’t happen. They’re all (mostly all) too busy at their political calculus to just come out and take a stand on anything.
I think/hope that when the seats chage enmasse this winter there will be a big surge of change and Dems taking action.
Of course Ive been disappointed so many times that Im living in this learned helplessness, but Im gonna try to hold on to the chance that they will do it with the majority power behind them and Bush becoming more and more lame. I know that they wont do it without the power. It makes no real statement except that we jumped the gun and are not in control of ourselves.God, maybe Im becoming like them…? Im so calculating in all of my thoughts about this stuff lately.
Snuffleupagus as the criminal Frist on.
Does anyone know what the results of the straw poll in the repug circle jerk were? Is Matthews still down there?…what a big bore that sick group is…

I sent a few of you, who are on my lil’ mailing list (and feel free to ask to be removed,) Kristof’s op-ed in the space of Frank Rich’s Sunday space. But to anyone who hasnt seen it, I put it on ripcoco because I think its just so importat…and I cant, for the life of me, figure out how the Times thinks that its right to withold this info online when it is so important. I guess that it all gets released in a few days, but on Sunday (a rainy sunday at that,) you have a captive audience who might follow the links and do something to help. How much differece would it make to allow this op-ed to be mailed around as a charitible gesture.
As I said over there, its boggles the mind that this “religious” administration thinks that it is right to “spread democracy” and take places apart that are ot especially in crisis, causing horrible problems and the breakdow of society, but turn their backs on people crying out for help in the most disgusting of circumstances, waiting for violent death to come round the corner at any minute!
America is just ot cutting it.
Bush could salvage some little part of his legacy if he stepped up to this, but no….not enough oil there…but I thought there was oil there….maybe theyre too black.
I think it would be great if Frist was the nominee, but I don’t see that happening.
Now isnt that interesting…? I wonder how McCain feels now?
He wanted to make Bush look bad…but he sorta ranked lower himself too….They like Bush as he is now better than McCain….and they just about all came out annd said that they supported the abortion ban in SD….what a bunch of creeps!
If they want to run Frist then have at it!! I think thats a lovely idea!
…and its early…they just want to have a party and feel like they arent spiralling into hell….
I like how he points out that Bill O’Reilly wasn’t man enough to go, but Ann Curry was.
It’s just too bad that it’s such a long way ’til November. Plus, the Dems poll well for “who do you want to control Congress,” but when people vote, they keep returnig their incumbents.
I think we have a good chance to replace our shithead “Representative” this year, but he’s got the machine behind him, and he brings home the pork.
Be careful what you wish for. Didn’t democrats say in 1980 that they hoped that Reagan would get the nomination? (Or perhaps it does not matter.)
Who is the “strongest” candidate that the Repos could field?
Who is the weakest candidate?
Who is the probable candidate?
Frist turned his back on the Kristo-Fascist Zombie Brigade on stem cells, so that hurts him there. He’s got the insider trading shit lingering over his head, and he came out looking like a jackass on the Schiavo thing. Plus, he has a history of adopting cats from the animal shelter and then doing experimental surgery on them, which doesn’t seem like a good thing.
Strongest candidate? Hmmm. I dunno. Condi would be an interesting choice, but I don’t know if middle America is ready for a black woman. One or the other, maybe, but a twofer would be tough. Plus, how can you vote for somebody wearing a Darth Vader helmet?
I thought perhaps Cheney retires for health reasons, and Dole steps in as Veep and ’08 candidate.
McCain has that “straight shooter” myth going for him, and might be able to get crossover votes.
Pataki has no chance (I hope; we’ve had more than enough of him here in NY), and neither does Giuliani. Maybe a few years ago, but not now. The KFZB has had a taste of power, and they aint gonna allow no NY lib’ral, even if it is Saint Rudy. Besides, banging your mistress in the Governor’s mansion while you’re still married to the mother of your children? Tsk, tsk. Doesn’t sound like a good Catholic to me.
Weakest? I’d say Cheney.
Probable? I’d say McCain at this point. He’s sucking up on abortion, and he’s known as a “reformer.”
George Galloway
On the Radio!“Be there, or be Square!” :rofl2::omg:
How hot is that?
Are there any Republican governors waiting in the wings? Ala Reagan and Bush. Oh, I know: Arnold the Guvernator!:omg:
It’s the way he says it that counts. It’s like listening to Groundskeeper Willie, or Angus.
stupid ass sign crap click here
How do people think a McCain presidency would shake out?
In Iraq, say, if the occupation continues. The reason we invaded was to take control of the oil there (and to increase “our influence” there). However, as Jello Biafra pointed out 15 years ago, the Arabs do not appreciate our presence, and are letting us know how they feel. Also, US public opinion is disillusioned with the plan. To say nothing of the civil war.
What would McCain do?
Schwarzenlicher, yeah. Tough to get that pesky old Constitution amended in two years though. Plus he’s not quite as big a star as he used to be. And who wants Skeletor as First Lady.
Maybe Huckabee of AR? Another Bush? No thanks.
WTF! Oil exploration in eastern Oregon?:omg:
If we get stuck with another Republican, we’d better not have the Republicans in control of Congress, or things will just keep getting worse. Maybe KP can tell us non-Arizonans more about McCain.
I forgot about the fucking Constitution. Anyway, Arnold has lost a lot of political credibility during his current term in office. I mean, Reagan was a fucking train wreck as California Governor, but the economy was good, and he was a lucky bastard. How would that krypto-nazi do today?
Mitt Romney? Are there any other moderate Repo governors in the NE who could “heal the rift”?:rofl2:
I don’t think any freakin’ homeowner’s associaition shold be able to take away your right to put up a goddamn sign that says anything you want to say on it. Seems liek that’s a violation of your right to free speech, there. So, let the bimbo in FL put her little sign up. I’m sure all the guys and gals rotting over there in that stinking desert will feel much better.
Or, in an even more grand geture, she and her hubby ought to enlist. She’s 24 – prime age. Then let’s see that nasty old homeowner’s association fine them. I think they could get out of under the Soldiers and Sailors Act of 1812.
KPOJ has a fairly decent public affairs show Sunday mornings between 7-7:30 pst. There was a local economist on this morning. He was fairly informative, if you could wade through his euphemisms.
I dunno, a President named Mitt? President “Genital” Mitt Romney? Vee go mit Mitt.
Some of these homeowners’ associations can be quite totalitarian. Oh the stories emanating from Boca Raton…………..:omg:
Tyger Thom is on the STREAM!:nixon:
Good Morning Seditionists,
I FINALLY got the whole bit torrent thing working, YAY! Damn! Why does Jim always get cut off. I really like his intros and extros(is that right?)
Yay! War on Brains!
He is talking about the Social Contract.:jesus:
I think it’s because they don’t have a Riley to watch the clock and tell them how radio works.
Adams is prevailing! You have got to have an aristocracy to rule efficiently; for those who demand democracy, set up operative illusions to hoodwink them.
:omg:
:rofl2:enlist did you see her she isnt in any kind of shape to enlist she is gonna have to take a year off to diet before they let her in!
:fustrate:not that i can talk im up to 280 lbs!
Who is trying to enlist?
Good Morning pj–nicki–sean!
Just checking in before Press the Meat.
Is it true that we get 5 nites of Marc this week?
Superman’s other girlfriend?:?::lol:
The UCLA Bruins won some sort of tournament. I’m sure that will mean more marathon basketball coverage on KTLK.
Lana Lang!:omg:
I am reading Nick Tosche’s book about Emmett Miller, the minstrel singer.
Marc is sounding good. :fist:
:yuck:i hate republicans!!!!!
Here is Newsweek’s story this week on the GOP’s worry that abortion might really be outlawed….seems that this thing that the fringe is working on is gonna make them look pretty extreme and behind something that very few want at all….interesting to see if the mainstream conservatives are gonna stand for being dragged into this.
I love Jim’s Wheel of Anger!
Dean is on Late Edition CNN…very good!
If you look at the history of mankind in the past two centuries, this is the fourth attempt at globalisation. The first came at the end of the 18th century, collapsing with the Napoleonic wars. The second came at the end of the 19th century and collapsed with the First World War. The globalisation of the 1920s collapsed with the Second World War. We are in the fourth attempt at globalisation in two centuries and the most probable outcome is that this attempt will go the same way as the previous, leading to isolationism and protectionism.”
So we’d better press ahead with that alternative radical economic program.
What time does Galloway’s show come on? Greenwich Meantime is confusing to me.:omg:
Galloway is on 3 – 5 PM Eastern, so noon – 2PM Pacific, and somewhere in between Central and Mountain. Oh, and I think, what 11AM ’til 1PM in Alaska? Is that correct, Travis?
PJ,
Amazing read, thanks for the info on Art Buchwald!
This is more informative than Kos.
nickirose, did you hear the recording of “lovesick blues” by emmett miller on steve earl’s show a couple of weeks ago. what a voice. steve spent about half an hour talking about it. you can see where hank williams got his inspiration for the song because his version is so similar to emmett’s. i went to the aar website to see the correct spelling of emmett’s name so i could look him up on google. what a life! i didn’t realize a book had been written about him. i’ll look it up.
I have to tell you, a gay friend of mine said that as a child he was in a church youth group lead by Tammy Faye Baker and to this day he blames her for his being gay. He says he looked at that face and thought, “If that’s what I have to look at every morning I’ll just stick with guys.” Yes, he was joking. (Some folks don’t realize that when they hear him tell the tale and he will invariably get at least one person offerring him support and help with his self-esteem.)
I’ve so far managed to spend my weekend pleasantly insulated from the real world, watching reruns of “Project Runway” and “Top Chef.” But it’s Sunday, time to return from the ivy covered walls of Bravo TV and turn to the news shows. Ah, well, it was lovely for a while. Vigilance!
Hey . . . I just took a Zogby survey (I’ve been on their mailing list for about 6 or 8 months, I think), and they said (FINALLY) that I could “invite” a friend. I think it will only allow one, so whoever gets to me first will be the lucky winner. I almost always participate in the Zogby online polls because, unlike the Harris Poll invites I receive, these are generally political.
E-mail me at lexikahn dot net if interested . . .

re otis:
there is a gel that comes in a tube for feeding sick cats. i can’t remember the name cal gel or k-cal or something like that. vets have it available, you can probably get some at a pet smart affiliated clinic, i think they’re open on sunday. cats love it and its a good way to get their digestive system working and appetite restarted. i’ll get the correct name for it later today. also, nutritional yeast (called brewer’s yeast when i was a young’n) is something that cat’s will almost always go for. start with a teaspoonful mixed with a little water and offer it. later you can sprinkle it on his food, or mix it in, to make the food more appealing. it’s good for their appetite too, the b vitamins, and great for their coats. good luck.
roxie
Hey, CK, you can invite as many as you like. I invited 10 people yesterday. After you invite, you’ll get a link to invite another one — at least if it’s the online survey.
re: globalization: You know what? Im sorta liking the idea of a measure of isolationism! What if people had secure union jobs again and there were regulations on how much profit that huge corporations could take? What if imported items had higher tarrifs? What if Corporations that outsourced jobs had to pay huge taxes on those jobs , considering that they are saving over $20/hr per job on average! What if CEO’s, such as Bill Gates, couldnt claim to be humanitarians using money skimmed from the profits from these outsourced jobs?
Would we be somehow not politically correct? Would re-regulation of these things be unAmerican or anti capitalist? Wont the Capitalist system fail at some point if ALL of the money is diverted up to the CEO’s and the middle class is gutted?
What if people who immigrated to America had to, to a certain extent, learn to operate in the mainstream instead of building their own isolationist enclaves? (not to make them lose their culture but to realize that they have to mix theirs in with what is the melting pot,) What if we stopped trying to be everything to everyone and only got involved with humanitarian issues, if we were directly attacked, or if we were in a real coalition of major nations deciding to stop the arms race and all that craziness?
I think we have to backtrack quite a bit to the kinder place that was a bit less cowed by the worry of seeming impropriety in the area of political incorrectness.
I did a zogby poll yesterday…which I often do…(and forwarded membership offers to a bunch of you who are on my mailing list)…and it asked alot of key questions about immigration. I get the feeling that alot of us are afraid that if we expect something of people who are immigrating here, like that they attempt to meld into the melting pot rather than creating a little community that mirrors their old one, we are being unkind somehow.
Why is it that immigrants used to want to embrace the American way, and now they seem to want to extend their homelands into ethnic subdivisions?
I dont think its wrong to expect that immigrants who want drivers licenses and green cards should speak english…and I think that to that end the government should help with programs for that.
I see how much the immigrants, legal and illegal, are struggling around here and how hard it is for them to get even an english class, and I wonder if we helped people assimilate, we wouldnt make more in taxes and have a better running country?
I just want to pull back. Control trade more closely so that Walmart and the like cant take over the country and replace all of our local items with cheap ones made by children in factories….Maybe Im off base here
I think that the worst act of Clinton’s administration was NAFTA…second was the way welfare reform was structured.
Ah, so most of us got the zogby survey…notice how much theyre askig abotu immigration?…interesting!
CK- I think its nutracal…I always keep some around for sick animals…Coco was saved by it more times than I probably shoulda let her be….I cant believe I forgot that! The vet will definitley have it.
:yawn:Man, where do I hear the Galloway?
I’ll look at the old posts, it’s cool.
Oh . . . I figured I was doing something for “our side” by inviting some like-minded folks!
My poll had some questions about immigration, but more about abortion. And I love getting the opportunity to tell a pollster that I am ashamed to have Bush as president . . .
I’m really beat; I’ve cried so much the past few days that chopping onions (really) is worse than ever. I had planned to do some bulk cooking this weekend anyway, because who has time with Otis in the hospital, but I also noticed that it gives me something to do, something to focus on. Methodical, mechanical . . . (Clinical, practical . . .) So I’ve chopped several pounds of onions in the past two days and my eyes burn! I must be quite the sight.
Thanks to all for the Otis tips. I did call the hospital earlier to see if they would hold off on the feeding tube and let us come by this afternoon (instead of visiting hours, which are 7-9) to try to feed him first, but they said at this point he needs continuous nutrition, not just eating for me. I wonder why they didn’t try the Nutracal or whatever it is . . . except maybe because he’s a transient diabetic? (Quick lesson: He became diabetic in September ’02 following a cortisone injection for some allergies he was having. After a month on insulin, he went into remission–cats can do that–and has been maintained by diet ever since. But he is still considered diabetic . . .) I know he can’t have Petromalt because of that, so maybe the other supplements have the same restrictions?
I’m so beat, and my eyes hurt, but before I go wash up from my cooking mess, I wanted to check in.
I really treasure you :sheep:le!
Oh . . . I think it was Melina who asked: Otis is at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists, on 15th Street. They’re closer to our vet and, of course, we never dreamed that he’d be there more than just one night. It’s a 24-hour facility that’s slightly different from AMC (where Vanilla died in ’96) in that they only take specialist referrals and emergent cases. I’m trying not to second-guess the decision to take him here; I trust my vets, and they were comfortable with either facility so we went with the one closest to them.
:yawn:Found it! It was right on the Saturday open thread
Kahn, I’m havin’ dreams about cats. I usually don’t, so I think subconsciously I’m thinking about Otis and company. Crazy!
Well to tell you the truth, Travis, Otis was having dreams about Alaska when you had your surgery. So I think it’s only fair that you should now dream about cats!
:fist:you can get paid to lead the revolution! run for elective office.
gee now im kinda stuck i have to run against my congressman now!
My Zogby poll was a lot of abortion and gambling questions. I wonder how much faith we should put in the Zogby results if we keep trying to stack their decks in our side’s favor?
CitKahn, I’m thinking healthy kitty thoughts for you. So are Loki and Caisha (the two cats I know best) as well as His Royal Furriness Faraday (who is a dog but he grew up with Caisha so he has a little bit of cat in him…)
lookie an aol poll some people are morons im gonna go with ohhhhh 34% of the people that responded to this poll

Gypsy, how do we know the other side isn’t trying to stack the deck in their favor?
Thanks for the good wishes. A cousin of mine, with whom we had to cancel tonight’s dinner plans b/c they conflicted with visiting hours, said (brilliantly) to hubby that pets are “almost like family,” to which hubby replied, “yeah, but without the backstabbing.”
Hee-hee! Good one, hubby!
Sean, if only 34% of the people in this country were morons, we’d be in much better shape!
:fustrate:
About the man I’m married to: I never call him “hubby” anywhere but here. He’s not Mr. Kahn (that was my father). Mr. Citizen? Mr. CK? All suggestions will be considered!
Okay, enough goofiness. I gotta change and head to the hospital. (Yay! We get to see Otis!) I’ve got a whole kit packed, including: his comb, a washcloth, some cans of Fancy Feast, his bowl from home, and a pillowcase that was headed for the laundry. (That last smells like me and is what he’d be sleeping on if he were healthy.)
Good boy, Otis!
hey otis link is broken!
Speaking of Emmett Miller, did you see how much money they want for his recordings? Around $70 for one damn CD. One could find a “Lovesick Blues” 78rpm on ebay for a lot less than that.
Try it again, Sean–I think I fixed it.
yep yep fixed!
Soldier Quits Army in Disgust at ‘Illegal’ American Tactics in Iraq
By Sean Rayment
The Telegraph UK
Sunday 12 March 2006
An SAS soldier has refused to fight in Iraq and has left the Army over the “illegal” tactics of United States troops and the policies of coalition forces.
After three months in Baghdad, Ben Griffin told his commander that he was no longer prepared to fight alongside American forces.
He said he had witnessed “dozens of illegal acts” by US troops, claiming they viewed all Iraqis as “untermenschen” – the Nazi term for races regarded as sub-human.
The decision marks the first time an SAS soldier has refused to go into combat and quit the Army on moral grounds. . .
:nod:must go wash ass:spank:
I spent the day reworking my website and uploaded the March 7th broadcast of Marc’s show on my blog page. I may try to upload selective shows in the coming weeks for anyone who can’t stream the shows or I may just pull out some of my fav clips from the show and post them on my site. Click my name to view my site. Be warned, there is adult content on my site. No Marc tonight so I may just check in on HBO’s, “The Sopranos” tonight.
sean, you can get a lot of reading (or watching hannity on tv) while you’re exercising on a bike or treadmill in those exercise rooms at those fancy hotels you stay at.
why are you reading robert kaplan??? oh yeah you also watch hannity. i’ll love to see your take on the kaplan book.
um i havent read kaplan but that book in particular was recommended by william jefferson clinton!
Hello All,
PJ, does Galloway’s show stream? and if so where?
too busy with other crap to get around to kaplan
Yes, Galloway show is on talkSport, and the stream is here.
$70 for an emmett miller cd???? :omg:
Here is a great little bloglet piece by Dan Carol, on HuffPo, that is right along the lines of what Ive been thinking/talking/writing about regarding the upcoming elections….regarding Daily Kos’s book and what comes next…
Since it’s been a week since the amazing upset victory, here’s another take on the Three 6 Mafia song. With the Chimp as the pimp.

PJ, I can’t believe you haven’t posted anything about Syracuse today. Or were you waiting until after the brackets are announced? 😀
We have some people from Lexington visiting at work this week, so I have to be a Wildcats fan at least through next weekend, when UConn sends them home. (I’m getting it out of my system now because I won’t be able to say it at work.)
NIT brackets will be announced later tonight. Crossing my fingers for the Akron Zips.

Thanks PJ. I was looking all over BBC. :nixon:
Well, I don’t like to bore people with sports too much, but yeah, “Let’s Go Orange!”
It’s a good sign that their first game is on Thursday and not Friday, since St. Patrick’s Day is not a day for the orange.
Any Seditionists down there in Jacksonville? I don’t think I can make the opening rounds, but if they win, maybe I can get to Atlanta.
Hey Sean, got any runs in that general direction coming up?
I’m just listening to it now. Interesting discussion on Britain’s shoot-to-kill terms of engagement.
Looks like Blair and the Labour Party have their own money scandals going on.
CK- I think we may have to call your Mr. “Otis’ daddy”…because he will go down in history as being the best cat (or dog for that matter,) dad in the world…patient, tireless, loving, supportive….what more could you want? I am very impressed with so many of the guys Ive heard about through this blog…of course, I dont have to pick up their underwear so its easier to admire from afar!!…heh…
I had a complicated dog dream last night with my Lola and Angelina (Bostons) getting away from me at a dog show/party and having to keep trying to find them, then losing them again. I guess there is lots of animal stress floating round. I also let them all sleep with me last night…I almost never do that! All 5 of them…and sometime in the night my kid snuck in too…so it was very crowded with lots of kicking legs.
cnick…cute penis:omg:….
Its hard to read some of the label text but I like that font alot…can you make it any bigger?
How do you put your media files on your page? Is it a situation where, if someone clicks on the link they go to an empty page with the player on it? I want to put audio on either blogspot or my regular page, but I want people to be able to listen while staying on the page….I cant find that in the dreamweaver book but I have to look in the huge book I got. Any tips are appreciated. I guess maybe the link has to launch real player or whatever and launch the clip in that.
Oh, new nukes, too, in collusion with the good old US of A.
This is just great. 🙁
What a TV night tonight!!
Sopranos, Big Love, Desperate Housewives (rerun? I dont know,) Grey’s Anatomy (which I really like,) and L word ( I accidentally found out what is gonna happen tonight, so Im bummed.)…and I think that Im gonna tape it all and watch the Ken Lay movie which I rented. So, PJ, do any of the sports happening this week and preempting all sorts of TV (just as well for me)concern us about Marc’s show? Is it only the Snippers that get in the way of the funny or is it all sports?
Very interesting 60 mins on gay and nature/nurture/medical findings…rats…all the new studies…the older brother effect: the mother’s body remembers how many boys she has carried before and it effects the baby in utero…so for every older brother a boy has he is 1/3 more likely to be gay. There is no correlation to this in women…they also find that this effect shows up in right handed men more than the left handed…they are thinking that some hormonal shift begining with the mother’s body deciding that there are too many boys in the tribe already, and the side of the brain that is dominant in certain circumstances….oh well…it goes on and on, and is on the edge of unbelievable…but I like to hear studies on 60 mins about gayness being a nature issue and not a choice…so many people watch 60 mins and its good to have some sorta good message coming out of it, even if its a little confusing.
Tell the M$M that its decided in utero and they will add that to the special circumstaces for emergeny abortion!!
F**kers!!
Melina, you can embed media in your web page. There are a couple of ways to do it. You can use an embed tag, (which is deprecatred) or an object tag. For instance:
<object type=”audio/x-mpeg” data=”yoursound.mp3″>
</object> is a standards based way to do ti, which of course gets ignored by IE. So, you can do something like this:
<object classid=”clsid:22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95″>
<param name=”FileName” value=”yoursound.mp3″>
</object>
If you want to use embed, you can try:
<embed
src=”whatever.mp3″
width=”200″
height=”75″
autostart=”true”
type=”audio/mpeg”

KTLK might have the rights to do UCLA games in the tournament, otherwise it shouldn’t be a problem. It’s just unfortunate that you can’t go to the KTLK website and see an update schedule or even a notice like “yo, game tonight.”
Here’s a page with more info on adding sound to a website.
PJ- Thats a great page!! I am going to look at it tomorrow. I guess I could post MP3 clips or whatever on a page on my site and then use code to link to them…but I dont want to go to the page…anyway…I will read it through tomorrow!
Im sure that everyone is watching the Sopranos. I am gonna go and read and save that for early tomorrow sometime.
I just saw Mr & Mrs Smith which I enjoyed…and also saw Must Love Dogs which was so-so but I liked the part where she meets a date ad it turns out to be her father.
I once found my father’s Match.com personal online (I knew what to look for including the age lie,) and it was so…ugh…lies!!…really funny…
Anyway, goodnight geniuses…catch you tomorrow morning…another week….incredible!
Big fog warning here.
Melina thank you for the compliment. I’m glad you think my penis is cute. I use Apple’s Iweb to create my website. It does all that technical stuff for me. I’m not smart enough to use hypertext markup language! If you have a Mac you really should pick up a copy of ILife 06. It only runs on Macs. I figure I’ll just edit some of my favorite audio clips from Marc’s show like the Asian Prostitute talking about the Oscar awards in last weeks show. All you guys and gals are awesome ppl. I consider you all my extended family. Now for a :40: ahh
Well g’night everybody.
Goodnight, Andy.
:eek:icy road the whole way to north dakota!
:priest:i’ll be saying my prayers tonight later sheeple

The state of North Dakota has to fill its quota
And separate the girls from the boys
Keep the trouble out of Illinois
The state of these affairs always comes in pairs
In the months of their demise we were writing our reprise
If it makes you said
It makes me sadder
If you ever miss me
I will always miss you more
In North Dakota we can only waste our time
I marked it on the atlas and taped it to my mattress
He hates me and I hate him too because he keeps me from seeing you
She’s the only player with the icy stare
A look like that only makes me look older
You put your head on the coldest shoulder
If it makes you said
It makes me sadder
If you ever miss me
I will always miss you more
In North Dakota we can only waste our time
Stay outof the ditches. They got some big ones out that way.
From Krugman’s column today, via Atrios, since it isn’t in Lexis yet:
Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again
Goodnight, everyone:peace:
OTIS!:fist:
Kinda early for bedtime, isn’t it Travis?
Bush Visit to NY 29 Will Backfire
This is in my neck of the woods, so I reckon I’d better head to Canandaigua on Tuesday, and see how close I can get with my “Send a Chickenhawk to Iraq” sweatshirt.
:yawn:Yep. Lately I’ve been on a weird schedule. I don’t know what happened to me.
Must be strange with all the darkness in the winter, and the light in the summer.
Hey, Dr Dance, haven’t heard from you in a while, but if you’re out there lurking, aren’t you in the NY 29th? Is Code Pink planning on doing anything for dubya’s visit?
Yeah, it’s bi-polar:billcat:
I’m kinda toast right now, so later, man.:peace:
Later, dude.
:peace:Good luck on your way to North Dakota, Sean!
I am just workin’ and lurkin’ — and gettin’ the garbage ready, since garbage day is tommorrow.
