Glenn Beck says he’s a rodeo clown. I’ll agree with clown, but I think the rodeo part likely stems from a fantasy he has involving Jeff Gannon and leather chaps. Whatever his deal, he apparently has more viewers than anybody on cable news, except for O’Reilly and Hannity. Wow, what a triumvirate.
Sounds like General Motors Chairman Rick Wagoner got punked. Apparently Obama told him GM wouldn’t get bailed out unless he resigned, so he resigned. Psych! The aren’t getting bailed out anyway. Or are they? They’ve got 60 days to come up with a better plan, unlike Chrysler, which gets 30 days to find an automaker to merge with (aka, “buy them out”). It’s looking at least somewhat likely that the good old US of A will soon be down to one automaker. Bummer. GM is supposed to complete the first “true” Chevy Volt in June. Too bad it may be to little, too late.
I just don’t know what to say about this, so I don’t think I’ll say anything.
The headline in the lo-cal paper today (well, the online version, anyway) is “New York state budget full of taxes, some spending cuts.” Why is it they always portray these things in this way? Full of taxes? How about “rich people getting their taxes raised a measly 3% while teachers get laid off and hospitals close?” To reduce the tax burden on the wealthy, they’re also adding a bottle deposit to water bottles (about time, if you ask me), raising the tax on cigarillos (can’t say as I care much about that one), raising DMV fees and public college tuition, and getting rid of tax rebates for poor people (hey, buck up you goddamn freeloaders).
Tax the rich? Hell no, eat the poor.

:blech: cant stand glenn beck but he did have the funniest skit i have EVER heard on radio
Helicopters are circling my neighborhood right now. Folks on the neighborhood listserve say that they are looking for a hispanic man in a striped shirt who shot at a cop on the next street. One guy going to work made the unfortunate decision to wear a striped shirt today and came out of his house facing guns pointed at him. I guess they cleared him, but what a way to start a Monday. :smack:
So, I’m trying to buy a house right now while I still have a real job. There are some good deals out there. I’m finding plenty of houses in the 40k-60k range. They all need work, some more than others but I think I found one that’s not too bad and in my neighborhood. Hopefully I will be in a new house by the end of April. If you buy a house by the end of the year you get an $8000 tax credit and I’m hoping there are some programs for first time home buyers buying a foreclosed home. And maybe some help fixing it up. The one I’m looking at is solid enough but needs some cosmetic work and an AC unit. I will miss the pool though 🙁
Good luck, KP.
Texas Sen. John Cornyn is threatening “World War III†if Democrats try to seat Al Franken in the Senate before Norm Coleman can pursue his case through the federal courts.
Cornyn, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, acknowledges that a federal challenge to November’s elections could take “years†to resolve. But he’s adamant that Coleman deserves that chance — even if it means Minnesota is short a senator for the duration.

:fustrate: im trying to buy a house too just waiting for written approval from the bank then we move forward
Good luck, to you too, Sean.
I’m trying to finish renovating the house we bought 20 years ago.
Good luck on the home buying, too. I just celebrated my first anniversary in my house a month ago. We did a few repairs and some painting to make the place livable before we moved in, but we still a LOT of work to do, both DIY and by pros. A friend of mine warned me: “When you have your own house, you won’t need hobbies anymore.”
Good luck Sean and Krista. Mine was 75K which is cheap around here but a major fixer-upper. That’s the problem with housing in the working class price range, they all need work.
Even the ones that don’t need work seem to need work- just about the time the payment coupon book arrives in the mail.
Finally, there is a rich guy moving out of NY because of the new tax increase:
Rush Limbaugh, in the midst of a tirade on Monday’s radio show against New York Governor David Paterson’s tax increases, denounced the state and announced that he was vacating it immediately.
Limbaugh, who claims that he pays per-diem city and state New York taxes, said that he would sell his New York condominium and visit the state as little as possible

I’ve never heard of per diem taxes. Is he trying to say he pays taxes for the days he spends in NY? They should raise those taxes.
