AKA, “Holy Shit it’s April and I Haven’t Even Thought About Doing My Taxes” Open Thread.
The special election to fill Kirsten Gillibrand’s vacant House seat has ended in a virtual dead heat, with the Democrat up by 65 votes (absentee ballots have yet to be counted). This would be an insurmountable lead for a Republican, but since it’s a Democrat ahead, I think we can count on months of litigation (in fact, the Republican went to court even before the polls closed). I’m pretty sure this won’t go on as long as the Senate nonsense in MN, though (which, I’m pretty sure, will only end after the 2014 election – and only if that one isn’t close).
In another sad sign of the times, the CNY SPCA appears to be on the verge of closing. Donations are down, and pet drop-offs are up. This is pretty sad news, since the SPCA is a “no-kill” shelter, and other, smaller alternatives can’t handle the volume of animals that they do.
Sy Hersh says Dick Cheney has a mole (maybe lots of moles) in the Obama Administration, and can still influence policy to some extent. Don’t we hang spies? I’d be willing to keep a cage open at Gitmo for Cheney, and I think it would be appropriate to authorize “harsh interrogation techniques” on him, in order to get to the bottom of this (chain him to a 500 pound weight, and throw him into the river. If he lives, he’s a witch, and should be burned. If he drowns, he was innocent, and will be seated next to Jeebus in God’s kingdom). After all, there could be a Manchurian Candidate embedded in the administration, and we can’t take any chances.
Lucky Barack Obama, who gets to try and pick up the pieces now that Humpty Dumpty and Humpty Dumptier are out of office. Looks like World Leaders are in no mood for our shit anymore, and are set to try and push Obama around. Any reason you cowards couldn’t have done this while President Asswipe was still in office? Personally, I think we ought to adopt a policy of strict isolationism (except for Canada and Mexico) and tell the world to go fix itself while we take some time just for ourselves, to figure out who we are and get our collective heads together.
Uh-oh, better go. The Today Show just started, and I can’t deal with the stoopid this morning. Have a good one.
Dear PJ, Andy, RG, Kevin, Heron, Art, KP and Vernon, your good wishes were welcome and comforting and truly appreciated. Thank you.
I finally got some sleep last night and when I woke up this morning I decided the NYC school system could chug along without me today, so I took the day off, turned off the alarm and went back to sleep. I feel much better.
I had promised my mother that I would take care of her cat. The last thing I did Monday night was bring Suzy home. (That makes 4 cats…at least 1 too many.) I let her out where the cat pans are and went upstairs. I haven’t seen her since.
We’ve searched, but no sign of cat. I hope she decides to show herself soon. :cat:
Yesterday, I read that right-wing blogs are being infiltrated by another set of progressive moles set to create chaos and eventually shut them down.
http://crooksandliars.com/john-amato/andrew-breitbarts-new-conspiracy-theory
This Drudge-wannabee Andrew Breitfart says that Hugh Hewitt’s comment section has been shutdown already because of bad Dems. This could be mere projection on their part (maybe to divert from Cheney?), but its funny nonetheless.
In my case, I have been abusing the Twitter by send snide remarks to the Hugh Hewitt hash tag # hhrs the last few months. This is fun because Twitter is impossible to throttle and it gets the Hewitt followers all riled up. Hewitt and other radio talkers will occasionally acknowledge me as well. Twitter is really an unscalable technology and Hewitt deserves it for pumping his Twitter and acting like he and his lemmings are some sort of online geniuses. (He has been telling his listeners to search on the hash-tag, which he has absolutely no control over, the idiot doesn’t realize)
If this seems childish and troll-like behavior, I will blame Sammy the Stem Cell. You can’t kill me, I’m sacred life.
I guess I’m twitter ignorant. I can’t figure out how to reply to these idiots, and reading their trip is making my brain bleed.
Hey, can somebody try Sedition Radio and see if it’s working (can’t get to it from work, and got an e-mail from somebody who thinks it’s down).
It’s working for me, pj.
…I woke up and my bed was filled with Tippy Canoe and Tyler too. :sammy:
Sam and Marc mentioned Sedition and (Seditionist) Radio yesterday on BRL. It is playing through iTunes for me.
Holder is dropping the Sen. Stevens case for prosecutorial misconduct. Maybe he is setting the stage to clean up some of the other abominations of the various bush DoJs.
Fair and balanced in a NAFTA kind of non-sexist way
Worked for me PJ, but I had to open it through itunes.
Did they? Gee, I’ll have to listen to the show.
Thanks for checking, guys.

This isn’t a joke, hombre!
The US has finished constructing a huge physics experiment aimed at recreating conditions at the heart of our Sun.
The US National Ignition Facility is designed to demonstrate the feasibility of nuclear fusion, a process that could offer abundant clean energy.
The lab will kick-start the reaction by focusing 192 giant laser beams on a tiny pellet of hydrogen fuel.- Tues, March 31.
maybe obama will get me a new ipod too

Pumping his Twitter? Is that what the kids are calling it these days?

Poor Suzy :cat: !!!
My parents (aged 81 & 87) cat is also Susi (the Kraut spelling of Suzy) & is the sister to our Trixie and daughter to our MamaKitty. Anyway, how funny that Susi disappears as soon as the doorbell rings and is a major scaredy cat around anyone but my parents.
Anyway, I hope Suzy will be able to assimilate (is resistance really futile???) with the rest of the kitties. PJ has put up with lots of :cat: :cat: :cat: :cat: :cat: :cat: :cat: during the time that we have been together.
I am sure he considers me to be one Krazy Kat Lady :knit: :cat: — maybe that’s what attracted him to me :billcat:
Good luck with Suzy’s readjustment :billcat:

Pumping his Twitter?
That’s the research term for it. I am doing research!

I dunno about Eddie. I have to turn him off.
Marc looks so much better on screen.
Oh well… ๐
Hmm, maybe I should wait a bit.

KP I would suggest that you wait a bit and feel secure in your job.
The same people are handing out the crazy loans and unless you have a significant down payment to plunk down like the good old fashioned 20%
you could get a bad loan and end up upside down in very short order.
