So, former VP, gay marriage supporter, and perhaps the most disgusting person in the United States (though that’s a really tough contest to judge), Dick Cheney, was not only a torture supporter, but its principal cheerleader (just had the image of Cheney in a cheerleader outfit flash into my brain; quite disturbing). Funny, the CIA briefing memos don’t seem to mention him being there. It’s almost like he’s hiding something. I don’t see how Joe Biden can possibly compete with Cheney’s legacy. Those are mighty big shoes to fill.
Speaking of big shoes, there’s a new world’s tallest man: 27-year-old Zhao Liang, who was measured at 8.1 feet tall. No word on whether the Denver Nuggets are looking to make him an offer.
I thought the neck was finally on the mend yesterday, after getting a decent night’s sleep (and, yes, abstaining from the demon alcohol). Very little sleep last night, though (another dry night, I might add), and it hurts like hell again. It’s mostly in one spot, though, as opposed to previous several days, when I ached from the top of my head to my shoulder blades. Just out of curiosity, anybody (especially you Canadians out there) ever try Robaxin (methocarbamol)? It appears to be a muscle relaxer with codeine (sounds like that’d do the trick, relative to getting a good night’s sleep), and is available OTC in Canada. They have much better stuff OTC in Canada; I guess since they have universal healthcare, the CMA lobby doesn’t push to make you go see a doctor for every damn thing.
What I really need is a few (more than two) days off in a row. Sitting at work really tightens everything up, and I can really feel it by the end of the day. But that doesn’t seem too likely, so, I guess it’s time to get a move on. Although I don’t know what my incentive is anymore; now that I’ve given up beer, I no longer have anything to live for. Well, except I just got the full five season set of Six Feet Under off e-bay (brand new, shrink wrapped, for less than half price, and with free shipping, I might add). Once I get through watching all those though again though….
It thundered and poured last night. Woke up the dogs who in turn woke everyone else. This morning it’s chilly but it still a great day ’cause it’s my LAST day before that summer vacation. It may not be well deserved but it is a great reason for putting up with the NYC Board of Ed.
Have a good one.
Roger Waters ready to perform if Israel tears down the wall.
I liked the simulated 3-D graphic Matt Lauer put up with the Air France plane flying above the clouds and rain still falling on it. Even my dog cocked his head at that picture.
It took a day, but they finally got around to mention Kansas’ home grown terrorist. He acted alone … yea sure, we all know how that works in fundie land.
The hawk hatchlings are growing up and Lincoln has some great pictures.
Queen of the Blues’ Koko Taylor dead at 80
Oh, no. That’s too bad.
the Steph Miller show is teetering toward a news format. The last few days they have started off with a bland announcer who goes through conventional news stories. And that is after the top-of-the-hour news. Blech … what’s the point of news w/o opinion?
I have a gut feeling (DEVO) the show will not be around much longer.
One of the greats
:gate: Koko Taylor
pj, I thought for sure you were going to connect the 8’1” dude with Syracuse.
I exercised on a Pilates Reformer and that helped my back. Wish there was hot yoga here. Not one doggon studio in the entire state. Tomorrow after work I’m scheduled for a massage.
Web, I barely hear Stephie anymore but I noticed that today. Reminded me of the sports guy or Charles the subtle racist right wing news guy on Imus.
I am not sure that it is that she is slipping as much as it is harder to mount a 3 hour show when your side is in, even if you pretty much serve up one hour of material up three times. I would imagine she is sitting pretty right now since she owns that time segment for progtalk. On the other hand she is terribly lightweight and has a number of on air vocal tics that have made her unlistenable to me. People take shots at Seder for such things but I never notice because he is usually dealing some heft.
OKat, I am guessing in a few weeks anywhere you do yoga there will be Bikram.
:om: :hot:
funny, vern! I suppose I should be looking for an outside studio.
Steph is fun in very small doses. I can’t stand Lynn Samuels. Why does Sirius have her own. She’s either complaining about something NY (not too interesting for those of us not in NY) or she’s chiding Obama for something. For pity sake, I’d take Steph show over that woman’s any day.
OKat — Lynn Samuels :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf:
Only radio I listen to these days is Sedition Radio in the A.M. & Old Time Radio with P.J. & podcasts PRN. When AAR was in its prime and we went through our satellite radio subscriptions, we listened to some of the more grating “lefties” like Fat Heady & Lynn Samuels — who the 👿 thought anyone with intact hearing could stand that voice & that attitude?? The accent is hard enough to navigate for non-NYers (I can deal with the accent — I grew up in Queens — it’s the arrogance & the snottiness that makes me wanna :yuck: :barf: and just :spank: her!). She’s Randi Rhodes to the nth power and we all know how Randi Rhodes can grate on one :yuck: 😡 .
Oh, well. I’m tired. Drove to Ithaca today to meet up with some Single Payer organizers & then to Rochester for Shamanic Drumming Group . I asked for some Shamanic help to get a Single Payer health plan so that we don’t have to end up bringing out our dead with the garbage Monty Python style. :paranoid: 🙁 :knit2:
I hate that I keep forgetting to bring my tricorder to work, dammit!! I shouldn’t have to buy my own!! Where’s the Beam Me Up Scotty smilie, PJ???
Even my http://www.i4u.com/article317.html at The Miracle Center has a Beam Me Up option!!
