“Not a shot was fired.” Ordinarily, I’d say that was a good thing, except in this case it’s how Time starts out its description of the big dog and pony show know as “Operation Swarmer.”
This “massive” military action, which was billed as a mission to stop these nasty old insurgents once and for all, managed to pick up “48 suspected insurgents, 17 of which had already been cleared and released.” OK, so 31. I wonder how many of these poor schlubs were just minding their own business, tending to the family sand farm in this area that “has long been suspected of being used as a base for insurgents operating in and around Samarra?”
“But contrary to what many many television networks erroneously reported, the operation was by no means the largest use of airpower since the start of the war. (“Air Assault” is a military term that refers specifically to transporting troops into an area.) In fact, there were no airstrikes and no leading insurgents were nabbed in an operation that some skeptical military analysts described as little more than a photo op. What’s more, there were no shots fired at all and the units had met no resistance, said the U.S. and Iraqi commanders.”
Well, frankly, I’m glad that no more of our people (and hopefull not too many Iraqi’s) were killed or wounded in this. But I’m not exactly sure what we’ve accomplished here. Was this photo-op supposed to make dubya look better? Was it suppose to make it all look worthwhile as the 3rd anniversary of Bush’s Folly rolls around? Or is this just another example of the incompetence of the Mayberry Machiavellis that are about to drag us into an even bigger catastrophe – a war with Iran?
Frist! :fu:
Alright, well, I woke up with two shirts on (don’t know why) and had to go to the bathroom. Yeah, so I’m thinkin’ I just….I don’t know where I’m goin’ with this….there should be blog police, man. I did some blogger damage and no one was there to stop me. My screen resolution was all screwed up and I can’t even imagine what I typed
You know what? Yeah, I’m not, um, feeling too good. Blog police, that’s all I’m saying. If only they stopped it before it started.
Oh, and one other thing:barf: my head hurts
I’m sorry if I ruined the Morning Seditionists. Later, peoples.
PJ, thanks for that link to the Time article. While there I saw this by MS friend Michael Ware:
Mornin’, all.
Hey, Travis–don’t worry so much!
Getting ready to do a tube-feed. Later, :sheep:le.
Was it suppose to make it all look worthwhile as the 3rd anniversary of Bush’s Folly rolls around?
That would be my guess.
:fu:
Last night’s show was abbreviated thanks to the LA Clippers game. You can hear the show now by clicking on my name (below) and following the “Podcast” link at the top of my page. Enjoy! I used Mac software (iLife 06) exclusively to create the podcast and “iRecordMusic” to record the stream to my Intel Imac.
Wow. Where is everybody this mornin’? Sleepin’ it off?:40:
Hubby’s on cat duty this morning, so I’m heading out for a while. I didn’t realize how cooped up I felt till I ran out to the drugstore yesterday morning. Although I had my eye on the clock, I was overly happy to be doing mundane errands outside.
PJ, I think all “operation swarmer” succeeds in doing is reminding Americans what a mess our commander-in-chief has made of Iraq. Not unlike the mess left behind on our own Gulf Coast. Bush is incompetent and its good to see that the American ppl are finally waking to this fact.
If I were a political cartoonist I’d draw “Baby W Bush” sitting in his high chair with a silver spoon in his hand and a dish shaped like Iraq and one shaped like the USA and all the food spilled off the plates with the caption reading: “You’ve made a mess . . . now who’s gonna clean it up?” Take it and run with it you creative ppl out there in blog land. Maybe one of you can draw it and make it better. That’s about as creative as I can be on a Saturday morning.
CK– How’s Otis doing this morning?
I need to go find a local pet-food store I found on the web, to buy some Wellness. My 2 kitties are evidencing allergy to their Iams multi-cat food. Zoey’s having a physical reaction, and Diva… well, it’s part physical, part behaviorial. She’s very skittish and nervous, and I do believe she may be more sensitive to her food than her housemate. We haven’t fully explored the possibility of allergies with Diva, so we’ll see if a change in diet helps her. It should help Zoey, as her symptoms are typical of food allergy.
Over the years, we’ve had healthy cats, but it just seems that lately ours and those of our extended family have had a multitude of problems. Never had cats who were allergic to their food, for one thing, and never had male cats whose plumbing stopped up. Is it my relative lack of experience with (sick) felines or is the world so messed up that our ittybitty pals are feeling it excessively?
Good moring everyone!
Was last night some sorta drunken party round these parts or something? Seems like there are headaches and apologies here…but I havent had time to read back yet. If any of you have read Dowd today yet…blame it on Ambien! Thtas gonna be the new excuse.I dont drink anymore and I cant fathom how I would handle any sort of alcohol sickness…its just the worst!
Phoener- Ive dealt extensively with rescue animals and animals with horrible problems from being bred wrong, and Im feeling like the animals in general are a mess these days…and being in the country right outside on NYC there is still alot of pollution problems along with the radon and all that!
It sounds like maybe you need to try the low residue food…? But Im finding that my most itchy and allergic girl Lola is doing pretty well on Hill’s Rx from the vet called w/d…and the throw-up pup (who is now gonna get biopsys when she gets fixed) was doing great on i/d and now is on w/d which is their more regular diet…but I think they have a feline allergy one.
We were just trying the Iams Rx from the vet of low residue and Im not sure about it because someone (little Angelina here) is having a bad throw up day all over the place!
Good luck with trying the different foods. You may want to also try Prarie raw diet. They have little frozen raw discs of plain organice chicken that gives them everything they would have in the wild. Its easy to use because its little frozen pieces that defrost really quickly and its not all that expensive. They also make a great kibble and some canned foods…and some freeze dried, so you can alternate. My dogs love it but its not their total diet because they tend to get sick of it and it upsets miss delicate’s stomach….but its everything that they get in the wild and its got all the live enzymes…and its great for their teeth and all…and their poop is really small and it dries up/ has no extra cereal and stuff that they are pooping out so they are using everything.
In any case its a good diet to do an alternating of individual meats to try to figure out the culprit in allergy situations and to slowly add certain grains back.
Wow thanks cnick…iTunes not downloading podcast so thanks to you I can listen.
Feel better Travis!

your welcome sbluefox. Tell me how fast my pages download on your end. I hear Apples servers are slow. Just wondering! Hope you enjoy the show.
wow a whole 18 posts:banana:
Melina, thanks for the info for the kitties. I’ve copied it and put it in a Memo on my Treo so I don’t lose it, like other advice I’ve wanted and prompty lost. 😕
As for the Ambien, isn’t it the way of the dysfunctional world to blame something or someone else for one’s mistakes? Can’t someone take *real* responsibility for one’s actions? :spank: Impeach now! :fist:
Got another solicitation for money in the disguise of a poll from the Dems. Wrote a nastygram on it and sent it back. :fu: Hey! We need a pink tutu icon!
Show your disgust for that man in the White House. Follow this link, http://www.cafepress.com/fthepres
cnickthomas-
It seemed pretty fast. I don’t have time to monkey around as I have an appointment so will be back to the blog later. Bob at AAplace must have had a late night last night. None of the premium podcasts are up and it is 10:30 am in Seattle.
The one night that I chose to watch House…
:jason:premium? what a waste of money!!!!!
This will be in tomorrow’s NY Times, I guess.
There’s a lot more.
 i guess i will sign up for premium anyway!
:priest:work aol work!
:banana:sweet aol is working now!!!!!
PJ, I went to check out that nytimes article you posted and found this over in the magazine. Did I miss something? Or, is this conventional wisdom?
this is suposed to be a republican chick lol
WTF! Hillary has a lock on the nomination! hat do we make of this?
Feingold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!would be better. Who else? (Or do we want the repos to continue to destroy the American Empire through their praxis?):rofl2::omg:
Sean from Buffalo. Checked out your stripper friend on MYSPACE cadet. Like she says, she’s digging for gold.
(How are her lap-dances?:rofl2:)
Gee, I guess if you start paying people to say you’re the presumptive nomineee, then you must be the presumptive nominee. I think the Republicans would love to see Hillary – she’s a guaranteed base bringer-outer for them, even if they have been pitiful and ineffective since obtaining complete control of the government, there’s no way they’ll let that evil, non-cookie baking, Bill Clinton-marrying, baby-killing lesbian bitch get elected.
i showed my disgust for the bush crime family by calling the white house yesterday and demanding his resignation. it was fun, i highly recommend it
Three Years On
Where’s the Resistance Here on the Home Front?
By ALEXANDER COCKBURN
and JEFFREY ST. CLAIR
Three years into the war in Iraq and now about two out of three Americans are against it, as against about one out of fifty elected politicians. In Iraq 2,315 Americans have died, and 17,100 wounded, many of them with limbs lost, some facing a lifetime in a wheel chair. Of the tens of thousands who have returned from combat to army bases or civilian life here, around 2.5 per cent are suffering from severe post traumatic stress syndrome, powder kegs, a menace to themselves and their families. There will be psychic as well as physical wreckage across America for years to come…
http://www.counterpunch.org
Arrrggghhhh! Last night’s show isn’t on Premium yet!!! AAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Phoener- if you want the show I can give it to you via AOL instant messenger…thats pretty easy and I have it edited . It was short but great!
I’d just like to know WTF is going on over at AAR that theyare taking people’s money for a service and then not providing it!…very odd in my book.
I wouldnt take the press seriously about Hillary…or anything at all, really. Whis is to say that she has a lock on anything? And how do they know that?
Nothing is for sure at this stage of the game.
There is no real way to predict even the midterms…as IM hearing all sorts of things. The only thing for certain is that Bush and co. are going down and they keep making decisions that insure their travel in that direction….
Hillary could easily say the wrong thing or the press could decided to screw up her audio, like HOward Dean’s scream when they took the crowd sounds out so he owuld sound really really crazy!….Anything can happen…and many things will.
I like Feingold, but I also still love Edwards. Kerry sounds like he really wants to run.
I dont see much wrong with HIllary because I know that she is good, even if she has to position herself…that the issues that she thinks are important are good ones…But people who hate her really hate her alot with no real reasoning besides that she seems to be trying to be more palatable to the sheeple…and that might be necessary for any candidate. Im sure that whoever gets in next is gonna be smeared and that its gonna take till at least 2012 to get the stink off the joint…maybe longer…so Im just wondering if we should even wish it on our favorite dems at this point?…maybe an inbetween of someone like Hill is not such a bad thing just to do the hard work of switching everything back and taking the rap for how hard different things seem to different groups of people…..But there is no way to say now…fuck the press.
Phoener- I keep a running notes file up on word all the time so I can copy and paste anything that I want to save along the way of reading…otherwise Ill lose it all.
Did you see the Dowd op-ed today in the Times? Very funny how she starts with this Ambian court case (and, really, if the drug can make you sleep walk and they havent told doctors or patients about it then its not a matter of being responsible…because not all of the sleepwalking is happening around drinking,) and then says the youre the administration and youve just woken up and you find yourself in a war with no exit strategy!!…its a good analogy…if thats the right word.
I find Dowd to be just twisted enough to warrant my allegiance to her take on things…
Ill post it on ripcoc for anyone who hasnt seen it…and below you will find the Irish yoga pose from yesterday.
Just give me a few moments to feed the dogs here and Ill do that….
Edwards/Feingold!
hi guys.
need to catch the last two Shows. I’m behind 😮
mr will be on tonight. (& tomorrow i believe).
hillary a shoooooe-in:?: was that a republican talking to garner more donations?
does anyone know how to add photos to wikipedia? I’ve been trying (to the Briard) section. They have the photos of the most butt-ugly Briards I’ve seen. Some top Briard folks have sent me photos but all I can do is uploat them in wikipedia.
[Asta still doing great]
I’d rather see Gore than Hillary – especially the Gore of Today verses the Gore of Yesterday.
hey becky!
Am I the only one who missed this story this week? The first I heard of it was listening to George Galloway’s show today.
Apparently, as soon as the monitors pulled out, Israeli tanks pounded Jericho Prison for nine hours. Another story from the IHT.
Al Gore and Bill & Hillary Clinton go to Heaven. :priest:
God addresses Al first. “Al, what do you believe in?”
Al replies, “Well, I believe I won that election, but that it was
your will that I did not serve And I’ve come to understand
that now.”
God thinks for a second and says, “Okay, very good. Come
and sit at my left.”
God then addresses Bill. “Bill, what do you believe in?”
Bill replies, “I believe in forgiveness. I’ve sinned, but I’ve
never held a grudge against my fellow man, and I hope no
grudges are held against me.”
God thinks for a second and says, “You are forgiven, my son. Come and sit at my right.”
Then God addresses Hillary. “Hillary, what do you believe in?”
“I believe you’re in my chair”
:priest:
Farmerkat- I agree about Gore…I even have little buttons that say Draft Gore and a sticker for the car that says Reelect Gore in 2008! I think hes great…and would love ot see him and Edwards somehow. Tehy could be dynamic with the enviornment and the poor people issues….we really need Gore with the polar ice sheet in such disarray!!
The new Bark magazine just came and its got a spread on William Wegman!! One of my very favorite photographer/artists!
AAR seems to have an odd definition of the word “premium.” They certainly have taken their most loyal listeners for granted. You can put up with slow service, or waiting for somebody to get around to posting the podcasts when it’s for free, but when you start charging people money, you really ought to hire enough people to get the shows up in a timely fashion. I would think within an hour of the end of the show would be reasonable.
I’m glad I have the shows there for me as soon as I’m ready every morning. It doesn’t take me long at all import them into WavePad, edit out the commercials, and then export them back out again. I even provided the 17 minutes of “pre” show from the other night to the premium folks so that they could get the whole thing.
My big concern right now is getting the full two hours on game nights after they go into syndication.
And the Al cam or the Sammy cam aren’t enough of a lure to me
Its so funny about Hillary…Imus and his disgusting vrew were joking about her “fat ass” the other day….People hate her so much ever since she had the audacity to work on the national health plan. I think that it got the men’s hackles up because she is an uppity woman, and it upset the power structure in DC that a brand new president would appoint a member of his family to such a confrontational comittee.
I have a lawyer who used to be a White House counsel or maybe it was congressional…anyway… when Clinton was in office. He is now an educational lawyer and he helped me with my case against the school district here. He knew everybody from the beginning of the Clinton administration and he admires Hill all in all, but he says that people never got over that health plan thing…and that she was so new to DC politics that she really ruffled some feathers. he felt that the plan was much more complicated than it should have been (in the face of Medicare D, its just laughable that anyone could have made something too complicated back then in the good old days!) and it had too many tiers or something. She was on the right track but she was just too new to be thrust into that position.
I dont think that alot of the insiders ever got over that. Remember that people like Chris Matthews were speech writers back then and working their way up. There seems to be lingering resentment that goes so far beyond any attitudinal or positioning problem during her Senate times and recently as shes begun to run.
I just dont think she can win and I dont think that shes idealistic enough in the way that the country needs….we need someone with real vision who can stir something in Americans to want to embrace what we were and to reject the every man for himself neocon vision. I think that if its the right person that Americans can rally around the ideals of our country…but they have to be reminded of what those ideals are….
what will be the actual effect of syndication, pj?
seems like it was a week for pubicity stunts. I’m not surprised the it was a coordinated event myself.
yeah, melina, it’s amazing how long memories can be – if they’re a Democrat, that is.
Dont worry PJ- XM will have it and I will run my XM through my computer…its on my list of things to do…no problem…then Ill have a sattelite signal of the whole show with no problem. Once a month or so the sattelite has a glitch or somehting but I think that its the player more than the signal…but even clouds can interrupt it so maybe I would back up with the KTLK stream and delete it once I am sure that I have the XM stream.
Anyone who’d like to hear the last two nights of the Marc Maron Show can listen to them on my site. Go to http://web.mac.com/ofmen/iWeb/Site/Podcast/Podcast.html to hear the shows. Enjoy
Is that Casino still operating in Jericho? It was one of Arafat’s most lucrative businesses. All the Hasidic jews gambled there – Arabs really weren’t allowed to – LOL! (They also are responsible for most of the heinous prostitution that goes on in Israel, too, btw)
Interesting, they do the same shit in England, too. According to organizers (and Galloway) there were some 100,000 people out in the (for London) bitter cold to demonstrate today, but the cops say 15,000.
speaking of shit…did you see this? what is going ON in this world?
Thanks, Melina. I’ve been in and out, so by the time I saw your kind offer, crickthomas had a link up. (thanks, crickthomas!)
As for Hillary’s being announced the Winner of the Candidate Lottery by Rove, it’s the same old same old: Find an issue that pushes buttons (euthanasia, abortion, etc) and hype it. Hillary fills the bill (no! no pun intended, honest! :billcat:), so the earlier they scare the crap out of the Heartlanders, the better. Keep them in line! :omg:
mr f’s story on his embed is starting now….
welcome Phoener
Turned on the tee vee just in time to hear Mr f’s story on nbc. What a great voice he has. I’m not sure I understand about dividing the country into north and south and the building we’re doing. Along the euphrates?
FK, Bet you can hardly wait to see him! 😀
this is really interesting:
(but with Bolton there, nothing will get done)
RU-486 deaths => does anyone else have a tin-foil hat on and thinking the wack-jobs christo-fascists have soemthing to do with this?
isi, I believe this fault line already exists – factions on either side. It’s the hot zone. He said our forces haven’t been there in 3 years because it is so dangerous. He described a line of IEDs they blew up that would have taken out the entire company.
Most First Ladies are given tasks to keep them busy, like Pickles and the gangs, Lady Bird and a billboard-free US. God forbid the woman (Hillary) does a decent, manly job of it! Her plan, before the AMA and the other medical associations got hold of it, was in its entirety a decent comprehensive program. She just didn’t politicize it well enough.
I’d bet the house, farm and dog on it. I’ve also noticed that articles/news on it state that the cause of each death (what? 6 of them? or more?) has *not* been ascertained, and that RU-486 is not suspected of causing the deaths.
yeah, i noticed that language, too, phoener. Let’s get that bad reputation out there.
btw, who ever planted that anthrax?
:fist::banana:gore kerry 08!!!!!
Anthrax? That was Saddam, wasn’t it? Colin Powell had a whole vial of it.
:rabbi:gore maron 08? he had a jewish running mate last time!!!!!

But Maron’s no DINO.
How about Maron/Marin in ’08? Or Marin/Maron?
G’night, all. Gotta be in to work early tomorrow, and I want to enjoy the fire my dear hubby has blazing in the fireplace before I turn in.
Marin/Maron – oh people would be so confused!
‘night phoener, drive safely Seanie Sean!
The BBC early on reported–or at least strongly implied–that Israel coordinated the assault on the Jericho prison with the international (US/UK) guards. The guards withdrew, and 15 minutes later, Israel moved in.
Anybody catch Alexander Cockburn on Laura Flanders this evening?:omg:
Air america premium:
I poked around at the air america place site and saw that Bob’s system crashed the other day so he was late getting the podcasts up and he is not an employee of Air America. My guess is that he is a much maligned volunteer. Anybody know?
I was thinking Hilary’s theme song would be “The Clean Up Woman”.
What a fucking mess.
Marin County? Is that the running mate?
A whole county of rich democrats in Northern California.
I appreciate that Bob at AAP is maintaining mp-3s of the old shows. I just wish that he would fill in the big gap of Morning Sedition shows from June 2004-December 2004.:omg:
Bob started AAP as a fan site, and after a while AAR started paying for the bandwidth for the podcasts. I assume he’s getting at least something from AAR now, but perhaps not. He’s not at at fault – AAR is. If you’re going to charge for something, you can’t just rely on the best efforts of fans and volunteers.
No kidding. Bob has been amazing when you consider… He posted at AAPlace something about no one minding the store at AAR.
The majority report podcast just dwindled in.
Pj- have I told you lately how much I appreciate all that you do?
And Cnickthomas- saved the weekend.
Oh-under the hair dryer today I saw an article in Vogue magazine about Laurie David.:omg:
What was the big upset about laurie david that Marc was talking about?
I thought that the guy who wrote in with the info about the hybrid cars was great…the real info about leaving recharge plugs plugged in…these things Ive been worrying about.
I want to find out about making a veggie oil car because I dont see that the hybrids do much more than make a statement. If Willie Nelson can power his bus with it, it must be possible to power an old jeep or something.
Yeah- PJ, is there anyway we can help? can we donate towards the upkeep of this boat?
Do you need storage space for the archives or anything like that?
Just say the word!

So Much for “Sunshine Week”
AP Erases Video of Israeli Soldier Shooting Palestinian Boy
By ALISON WEIR
“The trend toward secrecy is the greatest threat to democracy.”
– Associated Press CEO, in a speech about the importance of openness
“The official response is we decline to respond.”
– Associated Press Director of Media Relations, replying to questions about AP
In the midst of journalism’s “Sunshine Week”–during which the Associated Press and other news organizations are valiantly proclaiming the public’s “right to know”–AP insists on conducting its own activities in the dark, and refuses to answer even the simplest questions about its system of international news reporting.
Most of all, it refuses to explain why it erased footage of an Israeli soldier intentionally shooting a Palestinian boy. . .

Sherrod Brown is on David Bender’s show!:omg:
I love the riff on “The Clean Up Woman”. It is very much like “Soul Man”. Classic!
Where is everybody this weekend? Out protesting, I hope.

The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy
By John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt

Abstract
The centerpiece of U.S. Middle East policy is its intimate relationship with Israel. Though often justified as reflecting shared strategic interests or compelling moral imperatives, the U.S. commitment to Israel is due primarily to the activities of the “Israel Lobby.” This paper describes the various activities that pro-Israel groups have undertaken in order to shift U.S. foreign policy in a pro-Israel direction.
