Today, instead of Press the Meat, it’s Wimbledon. I guess we’ll have to make do without their stunning insights.
CBS’s Faze the Nation this week has Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs Of Staff, and a pair of Senator Chucks: republican thug Grassley, and NY’s Schumer.
Mullen makes his way over to Fux News Sunday, along with Steny Hoyer and John “Poppa” Boehner. Weaselface Wallace also has the usual fuxheads.
At the Goebbels network, George Snufalufagus is in Iraq with VP Joe Biden, and there’ll be a roundtable with George :jerk: Will, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Cynthia Tucker, the Moonie Times’ Tony Blankley, Vanity Fair’s Todd Purdum, and former Bush-Cheney man Matthew Dowd.
At CNN, Fareed Zakaria asks British Foreign Secretary David Miliband why Iran is so mad at Great Britain. Plus, aid in Africa: are celebrities throwing money at the problems or making an actual difference? If celebrities could just adopt every African, I think they’d be all set.
Have a good one.
Morning Patriots!
Wow, what a coincidence, OKat. My friend in Milwaukee just told me about Growing Power yesterday. Thanks for the story! 😀
I’d swear that just before going to bed last night, there was breaking news on CNN that Obama was sending 21000 additional troops to Afghanistan ‘due to a deteriorating situation’ but I can’t find anything that says that today, even on the CNN website. Did I hallucinate this?
Here’s something about 4600 troops already there.

Well, there’s this:
Funny that that’s buried in the 8th graf of an AP story and that CNN wouldn’t even post it. Not that I’m :tinfoil: or anything.
:yippee: :penguin: :yippee:
hey! well i got a new laptop because my old one broke and my mother refused to give me my backup because she uses it all the time
so how do i set this as my homepage im having problems remembering how that works?
Sean, I’m glad I’m not the only one having trouble remembering things.
Finally, a sunny day and things are beginning to dry out. We’ve made out way to Burlington VT, a large and very pretty town. And, finally we have some service on our cellphones. Have I mentioned how much I hate Sprint? I think I’ve finally convinced hubby we need another provider. Anyone have any advice?
Do ya know what the difference is between a hockey mom and a pit bull?
Pit bulls don’t quit!
:rofl2:

On this Fourth of July, as we celebrate our “freedoms” (like, free speech), isolating dubya from protesters continues.
I’m not a cell phone maven, but I find Verizon seems to have pretty much the best coverage and best data network, though ATT/Cingular has made a lot of gains since they merged.
My work Crackberry is ATT, and, while I don’t use it as a phone much, the data network seems to work well around here. Granny has a Verizon Crackberry, and used it as a modem for her laptop from here to Minnesota and back, with good results.
sprint works great for me up in me nh and vt its kinda crap but its good for most of thee country
Hi Sean
Yeah, I typically don’t get more than 20 miles from home, so I’m not much of a judge.
By the way, nice to see ya, Sean.
Hey Sean!
sprints 3g is pretty much everywhere but montana mississippi alabama and new mexico and maine
Hey Seanie Sean! Be sure to look me up if you’re passing through OK!
Thanks for that story, pj.
re Afghanistan. Haven’t heard from mr. fk today. 🙁 Carlos posted a new blog, about how big this invasion is. Last night’s story was frightening (oh! abc doesn’t have it posted….). Networks will only air so much international news. Can’t upset the viewers, ya know. :yuck:
i succumb to the iPhone cult. I love the phone. Despise the network, at&t, however. They will screw you every which way if they can get away with it. HORRIBLE customer service. I long for the day when Apple dumps their asses.
OKat- I read Carlos’ this afternoon. Saw his reference to “the 21,000 troops Obama has pledged to Afghanistan”. Are those a ‘new’ 21,000 added to the ones already there? I’m embarrassed to admit that I don’t know. CNN reported 21,000 as ‘a breaking story’ yesterday but there was never any follow-up.
I’m pretty much an NBC watcher for national news and they’re just following Richard Engle who’s reporting about the platoon he’s embedded with.
Also, there seems to be several days going by between Mike and Carlos’ reporting- I assume it all has to be approved and filltered.
I had the same question, art. Old 21K or 21K more? Looks like the same according to this and pj’s link above but I am pretty sure we will get more soon.
A friend gave me his 1st generation iPhone when I was in NOLa and I love it. I was already with AT&T so I asked them to adjust all of my services so I ended up paying the same in the end. Between dropping an old land line # I had for ‘business’ thus changing the billing # and tweaking some things on the DSL and phone services, they have found a way to screw up just about everything and every service issue seems to last for days to weeks. Last week I noticed that almost every time I got a phone call or made one, my DSL line dropped. BRL or MSNBC shows just stopped dead as did any other connection I had. It took almost 3 days of many hours and calls and ‘fixes’ that did not work and that sometimes took hours to undo or fix. Ultimately I looked at my lines coming in and decided that in dropping/switching #s I was hooked up to the old box. They sent someone out who ‘updated’ the line in and all was fine but I figgered that one out myself.
I have been working some for a friend who runs a small nonprofit and she just opened a small office that has AT&T and her stuff is still messed up but she refuses to even deal with them anymore and there isn’t much I can do about it so it seems like we are getting dial up service at DSL prices for good.
