Hard to believe it’s been three years already. My, how time flies. It seems like just yesterday that our glorious leader looked sternly into the camera, and blinked his way through a pack of lies about how we “tried” diplomacy, and telling Saddam and his boys they had 48 hours to get out of Dodge. And then of course we blew up a reataurant with a cruise missle, in hopes that Saddam would be there. Oops. Sucks to be an Iraqi restaurateur, I guess. Anyway, one exhilarating flight deck victory landing, a couple thousand US Soldiers, a hundred thousand or so Iraqis, and a trillion dollars (and counting, at the rate of $200 million a day) later, here we are. Happy Anniversary Iraq!
To celebrate, on Press the Meat, Timmy Potatohead has General George Casey, Commander of the “Multi-National Force” (don’t forget Poland, damnit!) in Iraq. Maybe Timmuh will ask him how many more photo-op “missions” we need to have before we can declare victory, pack it in, and get the hell out. As they put it on their website, “and for the Democrats, Rep. John Murtha (D-PA), a 37-year Marine Corps veteran and Ranking Member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, will join us in an exclusive interview to talk about his views on the war and his plan to redeploy American troops from the region. ” Ah, so it’s the Democrats on one side, and the Military on the other. Nice.
Over on Fazed the Nation, Bushbuddy Boy Scheiffer has a special treat for us all. Yes, it’s an exclusive live interview with Darth Vader himself, deadeye Dick Cheney. The airwaves should literally drip with truthiness.
Iraqipalooza continues over on This Weak with George Snufalufagus, as Senators Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., and Jack Reed, D-R.I. come on to tell us what, exactly, constitutes success in Iraq and can we get the hell out already? Then Olympic speed skater Joey Cheek (not the black one) will be on to tak about his advocation for relief efforts in Darfur, and, on the rountable, the axis of drivel is reunited again, as George :jerk:Will, Cokie “Skeletor” Roberts, and Sam :omg: Donaldson are together again to talk about how censuring the president is a win for the Republicans, and never mind the fact that 67% of those asked to provide a one-word description of George W. Bush in the latest Pew Poll chose either, “Incompetent,” “Idiot,” or “Liar.”
Over on Fux News Sunday, Chris “Kiwi Black” Wallace has Dick Durbin on to talk about Russ Feingold, the latest updat on glorious Operation Smarmer, and – gasp! – apparently there’s some sort of controversy with the preznit’s medicare prescription drug program.
Later, on 60 Minutes, Steve Kroft talks to a bunch of kids all fathered by the same incessant sperm donator, Scott Pelley talks to the head of NASA’s Climate Study Institute about how the Bush Administration is muzzling him on Global Warming (and politicians are rewriting the science), ad Ed Bradley talks to NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, who has formed his own 1,000-member counterterrorism unit (and, lucky for you NY’ers, he’s lef the Bushies out of it).
I have no idea what CNN has scheduled, but odds are it’ll be highlight reels of the Iraq invasion, and maybe some updated DOD photos from Operation Smarmer. Just don’t start watching too close to 9:00 EST, because you don’t want to fall asleep before we find out what happens with Tony on the Sporanos.

The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy
By John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt

Abstract
The centerpiece of U.S. Middle East policy is its intimate relationship with Israel. Though often justified as reflecting shared strategic interests or compelling moral imperatives, the U.S. commitment to Israel is due primarily to the activities of the “Israel Lobby.” This paper describes the various activities that pro-Israel groups have undertaken in order to shift U.S. foreign policy in a pro-Israel direction.

:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
I think if you are going to donate sperm or eggs you should make available your name so your “biological” child will know who you are.
I’ve spent much time over the years trying to find out when my ancestors came to america and from what country (I still don’t know)and I know who my biological parents are. So, I can only imagine how children who don’t know their genetic history might feel.
Listening C-span The freepers seem to be living in denial about the war in IRAQ. Rummy says the IRAQi’s want us to stay.. wasn’t it about three months ago that 80% wanted us to leave ASAP. There is an article about all the economic indicators being up in IRAQ.. I wonder if they counted the Economic impact of 150,000 US troops in those numbers I would have a hard time believing that with 40% unemployment that anything would be up.
so it looks like i can go back to bed until 9 EST?
this came in an email from one of my repuk senators.
One of the main selling points of the Bush admin is that we have not been attacked since 911 and that’s because we are fighting them over there and not over here. Since I think we know that the Busivecs have done very little to make us safer at home.. why is it that we haven’t been attacked again?? Could it be that we were not attacked by a foreign presence in the first place ??
it must be very odd to have half biological siblings who really have no connection to you other than a sperm donor bank. Even when you have a “traditional” family, you may be a stranger among a sibling or two. Guess you have to distill it down to what is a family and the genes are but one small part.
mr says it’s because groups like al qaeda work on completely different timetables than we do – years of planning mean very little to them. (I don’t know about that other theory) the bushevik’s are claiming responsibilty for good fortune.
The safest think that AQ could do is stage an attack and make it look like it was orchestrated out of some place in the Hampton’s. If we ever degenerate into massive civil disobedience the insurgents should be sure to seize the rich peoples property and use that as a base of operations instead of having their middle, lower class communities being blown up by the government like what happened in the riots in the 1960’s
The Bush admins approach to making us safer from a tactic is almost as effective as keeping us safe from a train wreck. I have to wonder how much we spend each day on rail safely compared to the war in IRAQ.
Mornin’, all. I am way behind on the blog here, and even further behind on Marc’s show. I don’t see how I can listen to 5 episodes before tomorrow night and still finish my manuscript!
Otis is doing much better. We went to the full-scale feeding tube plan for a 48-hour trial (which ends tonight), and his appetite for real food seems to be on an upswing. Still not a lot at a time, and he’d still rather have it spoon-fed to him than seek it out himself, but . . . he just downed about half a jar of baby food on his own–without one of us helping him–so I’m hopeful that by the time the trial is over he’ll be more inclined to eat on his own. (BTW, after purchasing a bazillion varieties of Fancy Feast, 8 cans of A/D, and half a dozen types of baby food, the clear winner is . . . baby food. Go figure. He’ll need about 4 jars a day to get his caloric needs fully met, but based on this morning’s performance, that might not be such a hard sell.)
Yesterday I had some time “off,” as hubby took over cat duty for a good chunk of the day. I feel refreshed today and hopefully can finish up this manuscript. (Only one more in the series after this!)
I’m just sorry that I won’t be able to accompany hubby and stepson to our annual NJ Nets outing today. We just can’t leave Otis for 6-8 hours (time it takes to pick up stepson in Brooklyn, drive to the Meadowlands, watch the game, drive back to Brooklyn, and then to Queens). It’s stepson’s 25th birthday today (yes, the war started on his birthday) and the first time we actually got tickets for the day of. So I’m bummed. If he doesn’t get called in to work this evening he might come out to the fabulous Neptune Diner with us, so at least I’ll get to wish him HB in person.
There were lots of other things I wanted to say but I forgot. I’m glad Asta is doing well and I hope all the other blogpets are holding steady. I miss you guys–a lot–but I’ve gotta finish this manuscript. I haven’t exactly been focused on it the last few days.
Later, :sheep:le!
Well, it was certainly a long time in between the first WTC attacks and Septemeber, 2001. I think part of the reason might be that, in order to operate successfully in the US, terrorists need to be a bit more sophisticated (educated, english-fluent, able to live here w/o being too conspicuous) than you average desperate, ready to die suicide bomber. So, I think it might be more difficult to find somebody with those qualities who’s willing to die for the cause.
Otherwise, we’d see plenty of suicide bombers at Christmas time in shopping malls.
As for whether we were attacked from within on 9/11, I wouldn’t put anything past these people. I tend to think it’s more likely they saw what was coming and sat back and let it happen, rather than actively created it, but, again, I wouldn’t put anything past these people.
I’m just glad they’re as incompetent as they are, or we’d all be wearing RFID dog collars and attending re-education camps right about now.
Good Morning Seditionists,
Because it’s a talking point that gets repeated so repetitiously, Bushies think that the reason we haven’t been attacked is because Bush is doing such a swell job. They don’t even consider that there could be other reasons. It’s like the dog that barks at the mailman everyday and assumes that his barking is scaring the mailman away.
:no:just say no to rfid!!!!! :fu:wal-mart is using rfid on all thier products!!!!!
:mad:stupid russian saw me before i got to stab his ass
Good Morning everyone!
Thanks PJ as usual for the lineup. I turned on the TV this morning and it was on GMA for some reason…and there was a military father going on about the positive points of the war…oh, yeah, and his son had died…so he was obviously trying to find some sorta bright spot in all of this.
I cant live through a day of the media outlets flying the colors of the repug insanity on this matter…and the only sane voice in the lineup is John Murtha, who maybe is a saint in that he is willing to put himself in this position over and over. He seems to be someone who honestly cares about the actual people involved in this war and how to actually end it.
Im thinking that the admin just doesnt want to lose the cash cow before the next one is in place. It such a good portal to transfer govt money to their private corporations.
Meantime, Kristof has a really heartbreaking piece on Darfur in todays’ NY Times select, which I will have up on ripcoco in around half an hour…just have to get a few things done and Im really scattered.
I have ordered a bunch of the Darfur bracelets and Im gonna sell them for whatever people want to give above $2 and send all the money back to the save Darfur org. Also, Doctors without borders is the only relief agency over there so I want to see whats up with them…They have long been one of my Mom’s favorite charities, so I have to look into what there is to do for them.
This because I am so disgusted with the Dems and politics here that I am trying to apply myself to different causes so as not to feel totally helpless….and I guess I feel that way anyway!
My sister is asking me to go to a Dem party in Westport tonight which is another one of those parade of idiots including my Mayor Malloy who is running for Governer, and probably Farrell… who I am behind only in party since they all endorsed old Joe Lieberman, thus tying things up for him more or less….we’ll see….Im not gonna vote for him in the primary, but it will only serve to send a message…and I guess that Kerry got my message when I voted for Dean in the primary…NOT!….
Damn! Damn! Damn!
Sean- Stab? Russian? rfid?
what are you taling about…please expand!
I always get in trouble about this…and was just talking with Mom about it before she took the paper and went back to the other place….and its all down to the “damned Mullahs” to her…and really organized religion in general to me.
ARGH!!! Hitchens is on…ugghhhhhhh….I can smell the stale slcohol from here!
i am playing metal gear solid 3!
anyway, as i was saying…
Belief in a God knows no bounds and time table…and I suppose that with this administration you could throw in the worship of money and power too…but the God thing is so powerful, and, in my opinion, based in fear of death and what comes next. Of course, the need for a driving purpose can be used for bad or good within any religion or social construct.
Mr is so right about the timetable of these people. If 911 was the result of 10 years, how is it possible to say anything about what may or may not be going on in the planning headquarters of the terrorist world?
They are certainly not gonna hit where we are expecting it. I agree with Bill Mahr that these people are nothing if not brave and smart….and very strong in their beliefs.
And with the way we secure ourselves, we might as well just hand them the country on a silver platter.
These guys have all eternity to carry out their plan…God told them so! Why wouldnt the christo fascist zombie brigade understand that, as they await the rapture in much the same way? The way they’ve done things makes total sense if you look at it. Why would there be a rush? The punishment by God will be the same to us infidels, and the longer they wait the more they are able to raise the stakes on the targets available because the sheep are so easily lulled into complacency….and doesnt God reveal the best way to go as the opportunities arise?
Real belief in anything that does not allow for differences, or is presented as the only way, is the most dangerous thing in the world.
I wish this was just a few deviants who were just disgruntled…but Im afraid that they have a bigger reason and a greater drive than we could imagine.
If the mullahs who run all the different sects of the Muslim religion dont all stand up and condemn the violence, excommunicatinf anyone who is involved with radical activities, we are gonna have to start to think of stopping them from trying to populate the world and infiltrate free and open societies….and that would be so unfair because I dont believe that all mUslims are like that….and I think its natural for humans to migrate.
And in the same way, I think that the world should stand up and stop the Bush administration from violently spreading “democracy” in the world ….
Are Bush’s causes of Democracy and Freedom as radical to some of these societies as wearing burkas and praying 5 times a day is to us?
And the Neocon plans that have been slowly laid down over years and years…since Reagan at least…dont they sort of rank along with terrorism when you see how many people are dying around the world and right here at home from neglect, hunger, and disease?….and the military industrial complex becomes richer….
Sean- Will says you MUST get resident Evil 4 and that $45 is a great price!!!
i suppose that will be next after i beat metal gear this is the second time i have bought it so i better beat it this time! the new camera thingy should make this one easier although it hasnt really helped that much so far
Ah, my daughter-in-law’s ex-husband? She told me he and his wife? girlfriend? just had a baby boy. How many kids is that now, I asked? “12, I think,” was the answer. “My daughter, 3 by the 2nd wife, a few in Aruba…” :omg:
what if you have a baby with someone and find out after the fact that you both had the same father donor sperm. Now THAT could cause some genetic mishaps down the line.
mr is out on the river again for a few days. he had a hilarious story about being out in a rice paddy last week and they were being charged by…. BULLS! He said they were the most scraggly sorry looking bulls he’d ever seen, but they were charging them, nevertheless.
glad to hear Otis just keeps getting better, slowly but in the right direction.
FK- will Mr write a book?..it would be so great and really necessary for history that as many people as possible speak out about what really happened. Between the idiot general on with Timmmmmm and listening to the first story on Ring of fire, about the truck drivers and whats going on there…oh my god.
It also seems that hes got alot of great stories about life over there besides the war.
has he been an imbed since the beginning?Funny that his channel is the only one I really watch and yet I dont register the people who are good at reporting…and end up really knowing who is unfair and horrible because thats who I get mad abotu and write letters to the network!…
Im going to start paying more attention to who is good at reporting about this administration and war…
Did anyone catch mahr on Friday? I can get it in the HBO on demand, but I wondered who was on.
oh crap it was raining blood!!!!!
:evil:evil russians!
Q&A with Markos Moulitsas Zuniga in today’s NYTimes Magazine HERE

Okay, so I’ve now officially crapped around for more than an hour, putting photos up on my blog. This is only for the truly diehard folks who asked to see pictures of Camp Otis.
Now I’ve really gotta get to work!
p.s. There will be some “equal time” photos of Elwood a little later today.

War-Loving Pundits
by Norman Solomon; March 19, 2006
The third anniversary of the Iraq invasion was bound to attract a lot of media coverage, but scant recognition went to the pundits who helped to make it all possible.
Continuing with long service to the Bush administration’s agenda-setting for war, prominent media commentators were very busy in the weeks before the invasion. At the Washington Post, the op-ed page’s fervor hit a new peak on Feb. 6, 2003, the day after Colin Powell’s mendacious speech to the U.N. Security Council.
Post columnist Richard Cohen explained that Powell was utterly convincing. “The evidence he presented to the United Nations — some of it circumstantial, some of it absolutely bone-chilling in its detail — had to prove to anyone that Iraq not only hasn’t accounted for its weapons of mass destruction but without a doubt still retains them,” Cohen wrote. “Only a fool — or possibly a Frenchman — could conclude otherwise.” […]

Latin America’s Leftist Shift: Hopes and Challenges
by Benjamin Dangl; March 16, 2006
Within the last six years in Latin America numerous social movements have gained momentum in the fight for human rights, better living and working conditions and an end to corporate exploitation and military violence. Recently, left of center leaders have been elected in Bolivia, Uruguay, Chile and Venezuela.
These political leaders, whose victory in office is due largely to these social movements in the streets, have pledged to fight poverty and prioritize the needs of the people over the interests of Washington and international corporations. This resistance is connected to centuries of organizing among indigenous groups and unions in Latin America. I’d like to discuss some reasons why this leftist shift is happening right now and about a few key moments and events in this movement’s recent history.
Latin America is currently waking up from a decades-long nightmare brought on by military dictatorships which came to power throughout Latin America in the 1970s and 80s, including Augusto Pinochet in Chile, Jorge Videla in Argentina and General Rios Montt in Guatemala among others. . .

Why do these numbers always change hour to hour, it seems? Where the hell did rummy get these numbers, I wonder.
I think they flew out his butt.
Or the person who doesn’t get a flu shot every year, doesn’t get the flu, and assumes that it’s because they didn’t get the flu shot.
That’s what I assume.
:yawn:I would have typed something earlier, but I’m still out of it.
that’s what I assume, too
so i put a big palm in our bedroon behind the bed (i think it looks kinda nice and it’s feng shui) but my son says it looks more like fake Hawaiin white trash.
wonder if Seaniesean has paid attention to feng shui in his truck cab:?:
:rofl2:
(Travis, we kid because we love!)
Or did I read more into that than I should’ve?
Nothing wrong with fake Hawaiian white trash. Especially if you throw an old Ford pickup bench seat in there to use as a couch. Just put it up on cinderblocks, and if you can get an old wire spool to use as a coffee table (the little ones make nice matching end tables), so much the better.
:gate::fire:
eeehhh……i already know….this week is gonna kick my ass!:fustrate::spank:
just checking in….hope everything is well with the Seditionists
Cokie “Skeletor” Roberts
That is so wrong. It is Cokie “Bride of Frankenstein” Roberts. Have you seen her hairdo?
:roll:Travis glad you said hey- I was getting worried.
When you coming to Seattle and what for? Did you ever find a digital camera? If you come to the Center of the Universe we can meet for coffee if I am in town.
:billcat:Otis!
So, does anyone who knows basketball have any idea as to how much longer the game that is preempting 60 mins is gonna be….and is it possible to skip the sperm donor kids whoare gonna populate the world with inbreds in favor of the global warming nightmare?
AARRGGGHHH- Sharon stone on NBC…ewwwwww!
the title is a bit deceiving. He doesn’t really address what would happen to the Sunnis, left without oil, in the divided senario. Still, it is thought provoking:
Me? I’m watching the Sanford & Son marathon on TV Land till West Wing comes on . . .
I’m with PJ, no flu shots here and I’ve mostly been okay. If you take too many antibiotics and such your immune system gets weak. It’s like sending someone else to the gym to do your workout. Although, if one has other problems that might be complicated by the flu or cold or it’s just not going away, by all means. But if one is relatively healthy your body is better off fighting the virus off on its own. Ayup! What doesn’t kill ya makes ya stronger!
:rofl2:
and those spools are good wood….mr should like it since he IS an Okie, after all!
Isi – your post 58 is very feng shui, you’re good at this!
(someone told me that i needed to stick something in the corner for this feng shui thing, but I don’t know squat about it. Although, a Taiwanese friend of my mom spent $50,000 to have brick steps go from the road up a mountain to her front door so the spirits would be right. I’d have sold the damn house.
Exactly. Last time I got the flu was the same, and last, year I got a flu shot.
Hate to post and run, but it’s almost Simpsons time.
V FOR VENDETTA!!!
GO SEE IT!!!
I was wondering last week why Rachel was raving about it so much on her show. Yesterday morning I found out why. It is a completely awesome movie that blew me away. (And it was a free screening, too!)
If  Natalie Portman isn’t nominated for Best Actress, she needs to blow up Parliament again.
VENDETTA!!!
VIMPEACHMENT!!!
VIGILANCE!!!
:fire::fire::fire:
shoot, i missed the first part of 60 minutes.
Has anyone seen this?It is supposedly flying around the blogosphere…which is news to me, but then I guess Im a bit of a blog elitist in that I only read a few, and at that, the same ones over and over….
Iy was on the NBC page where I went to track down more on Anne’s newest piece on Darfur…bless her!
Well, FK, hopefully youre catching this disturbing climate piece….I think that we may live to see the end of the world!…or at least bad, bad, bad flooding ….and hes talking about the tipping point…damn….
yeah, melina, you read about it the Bush admin.’s abuses, but watching these interviews, it is even more startling – like a witness in court – these guys are believable.
the christo-fascist sperm police are going to come out after that 60 minute’s piece.
Sopranos!:omg:
Finally!
Well, enjoy the Sopranos everyone! Im taping it because Im just too tired and have too much to do to really focus. Im sure Tony lives…and the rest is cinematic magic
I just cant believe that on the MSNBC page Bed Bugs and Sharon stone are featured above Darfur!
Are bed bugs and Sharon Stone in the same story?
I dunno if you guys read the Baghdad Burning blog, but you might want to.
Leaving us in the lurch–AGAIN!:omg:
Out Now!
:fu:Capitalist Dogs and your media whores!:omg:
i saw v or vendetta on the imax!
only reason rachel loves it so much is because it has a BALD natalie portman!

:banana:i got to meet marc and mark too!
:rofl2:i bitched at marc for not defending me better when sam seder called me sean hannity i have a signed maron promo headshot that says “sorry about the seder thing”!
it’s not there now, but cnn had a poll asking whether politicians listen to protests. only something like 39% said yes. how did we become so apathetic? no wonder this regime can continue to rape and pillage with impunity.
(baghdad burning is incredibly sad.)
:shock:imagine my shock to learn that only 39% of politicians care even remotely what their constituents think!
:rofl2::jason:
:spank:off with their heads?
:fire:ok well they almost have me loaded so uh i’m off later sheeple!
seancrest out:peace: (that is getting old huh)
