Well, this is it. Shortly, the last Morning Sedition will begin. We’ve lost the War on Brains. Sammy the Stem Cell is dead, but, come Monday, there will be no Morning Remembrance for him. Bruce Cherry has thrown his final pitch (though he always struck me as more of a catcher than a pitcher), and Johnny K-Street has taken his last bet. Cardinal Milfington has left the church; we fornicators will just have to keep fornicating without him, hopeful that the light will still be on in hell for us when we get there. We’ll get no more reports from Planet Bush, though I’m confident that, when Nebraska legalizes same-sex marriage, Lawton Smalls and Ted will be the first to tie the knot (if Ted’s family can get over the fact that Lawton is half Jewish). Alas, Angus MacFarquar, we hardly knew ye. No more Liberal Confessional, Dream Diary, marching orders from the Streisand compound, Al-Qaeda news, Future Marc, or Marc the Shark. I only wish Recovery Corner had turned things around for our President; he never did quit peeing on today, did he?
Of course, Morning Sedition could have gone off with a nice, sentimental show full of remembering all the good times, but they couldn’t do that, could they? What exactly went on there, at the end of yesterday’s show? Was it a gag, like Mick Foley wrestles the Republican (if so, Sam and Janeane weren’t letting on during Marc’s Majority Report appearance last night)? Or has Marc finally snapped, egged on by the corporate scum, who’s never done radio before. Just what will today bring? Will Marc strangle the evil ass-kisser, Steve Gilmartin? Has Marc duct-taped 20 Blow-Me-Up Elmo’s to himself (“anybody comes near me, I start tickling, damnit!”)? Who are these mystery guests that Brendan alluded to yesterday?
I guess we’ll just have to sit back, and see how all this ends.
But, no matter what happens, let me just say thanks, one last time, for everybody that’s made Morning Sedition possible. If our time together was too short, at least you made the most of it. Good luck to all of you in the future, and good luck to all of us here, too, as we face the prospect of getting out of bed on Monday without Morning Sedition. As Marlon Brando once said, “the horror, the horror.”
Who’s choppin’ onions?
first??
I am so torn up I can’t believe it. Look forward to continuing our love and conversations on this blog. Thank you PJ Sauter for creating this site.
Love you all,
Kim
Ah, damn. Had to miss the last hour to go out and shovel so my wife could get out of the driveway. Guess I’ll have to catch the West coast feed, or wait for the podcast.
This really sucks.
So Springer’s first words are “I’m in a great mood”??
After the goodbye from MS?
Self centered ass.
Time to ship the used cat litter to Goldberg 😈
I’m here now. Sigh.
Thanks for this, pj!
Now what?
How do get the show back?
I need a sheppard!:cry::?:
Please–Springer’s so removed from Air America Radio, he probably doesn’t even have a clue what’s been going on.
I left the mascara off today so I could cry in the car without ruining my makeup.
And I felt like a dork anyway.
That’s why I came here…to check in with people who are also dorks…and who understand. 😥
Whew! What a trip! I’m surprised that so few people have written so far, but that may be because they really do need to bring a firetruck to put out the fire on the MS blog.
Finally, Reilly said something to show us how much he valued his relationship with Marc. Marc’s mother brought me to tears because I know what it is like to qvell over one’s children. My son is a musician in LA.
I stopped streaming AAR when Springer’s insipid, “I’m in a great mood” sounded in my ear. I don’t recall where I read it, but all you need is $125,000.00 per hour to have a show on AAR. Anyone else here that. If it’s true, that must explain the three hours with Springer.
Time to go to work.
Well, there are certainly dorks from around the world, then. There are visitors form all over the world to this site – Taiwan, Switzerland, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, Uganda (yeah, Uganda). There were visitors yesterday from the United Nations, even (the IRS, too). And of course, all over the US. Somebody from Air America has been here every day, too. I wonder if they’ll be able to stop by and leave a comment, now that the show’s over?
Forgot to say how sad I feel. Anger has passed. The loss is in the foreground. Imagine how Marc and his co-workers must feel. With a show run by guys, and show that often sounds like a guy show, it’s great to see how many women loved the show too.
Yeah, my wife isn’t a guy (though it has been a while since I checked), and she loves the show, and the humor, and Marc (and all the other characters).
But then, what’s not to love?
What a ridiculous short-sighted decision to remove a show that was funny, original, and edgy, and had great co-host chemistry, all in the name of bending Air America into a network directed towards swaying middle America. Personally, I’ll probably stop listening until Randi Rhodes comes on at 3 PM. I don’t understand why this decision was made, and why Jerry Springer has been given a prime spot, for a show that is mainly geared towards moderates, and which often lapses into segments which seem more suited to his TV show. It’s another example of money overriding talent. The way they pump up his show, I’m beginning to wonder if Springer has a major financial interest in Air America. Following the conclusion of this last Morning Sedition, Springer comes on the air and what is he discussing this morning? The meaning and history of Santa Claus. How stupid is that?
If Springer would do his fucking homework (or pay somebody to do it for him), he wouldn’t be so bad. But he just seems a few days behind in the news, and he isn’t up on his facts. So, some putz like Ted from Nebraska can call in and run circles around him. That’s not being moderate, that’s being an douchebag.
By the way, have I mentioned how much I hate Danny Goldberg yet?
I am beyond depressed.
:fire:
Gotta make sure everyone gets the recipe today.
BTW, you know why this blows for me worse than I ever thought it would? Today is my gods-daughter’s fourth birthday. It will forever be marred by it also being the Day Morning Sedition Died. Well, I think Rhiannon’s birthday won’t be TOO marred but it still pisses me off that anything could make today less than perfect for anyone…:crap:
So here’s the recipe
:fire: :fire: :fire:
Death by Chocolate
Ingredients
24 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
2 quarters unsalted butter
2/3 cups heavy cream
6 whole extra large eggs
Steps
Melt 2 sticks of butter and 16 oz. of chocolate in a double boiler.
Warm 6 eggs in hot water.
Coat a 9″ spring form pan with butter. Make it watertight with foil.
Beat the eggs whole until they are fluffy (like a meringue)
Slowly fold the melted butter and chocolate in to the eggs.
Place the mixture in the springform pan. Place the pan in a larger pan partly filled with warm water.
Bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes. Cover with foil and bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for another 10 minutes.
Pour on topping. Refrigerate. Serve.
Chocolate Topping for Death By Chocolate
Scald 2/3 cups of heavy cream in a saucepan. Remove from heat.
Add 6oz. of finely chopped semi-sweet chocolate immediately.
Cover and let stand for five minutes.
Stir until smooth.
Test the topping by stirring. It is ready when a drop “mounds” before disappearing into the rest. If it is too think – thin with warm liquor. If it is too thin, add more chocolate, re-heat and test it again.
My birthday was the day of the last live show at O’Neal’s. Not as sad as today, by a longshot. You think Rhiannon would mind if you renamed her Marc?
Thanks for the recipes. Unfortunately, I’m not allowed in the kitchen, other than to remove pre-packaged beverages from the fridge, and then only on the condition I drink from the can (no pouring allowed). Something to do with an attempt to fix dinner over a decade ago . . .
When the show ended today, I was feeling mostly sadness, loss and appreciation. It was only when Springer came on that the anger kicked back in.
I’d been downloading the show until today (never streaming live ’cause i didn’t want to miss anything) so I experienced -Springer after MS- for the first time. The juxtaposition was absolutely infuriating.
On a brighter note: Thanks again PJ for this home away from home.
Speaking of Springer. So he starts his show with this “I’m in a good mood”, “I believe in Santa Claus”, “This is a kid friendly show”?
WTF? Is that supposed to be a parting shot at MS? Nice, Jerry. Real classy.
As for believing in Santa Claus. I thought, hmmm, let’s see where’s he going with this. Then I snapped out of it and turned him off. I mean, seriously, what’s the point?
Now. How do we officially turn off the AAR MS blog?
The kids I know are too smart to listen to Springer.
…and letting a kid listen to Springer would constitute child abuse in the eyes of the law too.
The Sedition Party
Has formed! Well, it has a web page. OK, it’s not even as good as Jim Earl’s Page of Crap, but it’s a start.
Any ideas??
Sedition Party? Serious politics with a sense of humor. I like it. Just get The Daily Show on board and we have a movement.
:peace:
Come to think of it. This emoticon is a nice logo. Dontcha think?
:peace:
I think the Sedition Party needs to get Michael Moore onboard. Hell, he ran a ficus for congress, and I reckon he’s up for a little sedition.
We don’t want to fragment the MS community too much. I’m thinking this (morningseditionists.com) is the home for the community, but the seditionparty.org site could be serious politics viewed with humor. As a lurking conservative it may be weird for me to be running the site, but I’m homeless twice over: lossing the show, and my party got hijacked by neo-facists (obviously the more important of the two). The Democrat Party is, well, the Democrat Party; who knows what they stand for or will put up with. We need a party (or at least a movement) that is concerned with governance – getting things done – and not with keeping power or scoring points. Progressives have some good ideas, it’s just the implementation probably needs some work :paranoid::!: Speaking of which, the word “conservative” has gotten a bad rap these days; will have to come up with a better term.
Personally, I differentiate between Conservatives, and Konservatives (as well as between Christians and Kristians). What we have running the show right now is the Konservative Kristian Koalition.
…aaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHhhhh…
:fire:
I’m leaving work early today – heavy, heavy heart and only 1 hour of sleep last night thinking about today. No more AAR – no more Randi on the commute home. I’ve been blasting Led Zeppelin on the way home for the last 2 weeks hoping the music will be enough….
Love you all,
Kim (formerly Omar Buxtehude)

First Annual Sedition Party Convention
Next summer. When and where should it be?
I am glad to see that Morning Sedition diehards are blogging away here. Let’s keep it up.
I am one of those who try not to trash Springer (too much). PJ said something like “if Springer did his homework, he wouldn’t be so bad…” I pretty much agree; I fall more on being critical of his moderate political position. I don’t, on the other hand, want to get into any big arguments with those who loathe Springer. Blast away at his hucksterish ass and milquetoast politics.
Archives. Do we have a a handle on saving the Morning Sedition Blog Archives? (I don’t think I started blogging until February. Probably because of the hours. 6-9am was not a good time for me.)
Audio archives? I am sure that these are saved; I am too computer illiterate to figure out what has been done?
I am down with the Sedition Party. Realize your dreams! Circulate those tapes.:peace:
If anybody has a nice chunk of land that folks can camp on, that’d be cool. Someplace more or less in the middle of the country, maybe. A community with an apathetic police force (that is, one that will leave us the hell alone), is a must.
Of course, if it’s in August, Crawford might be interesting (assuming dubya holds to his five weeks off in August routine). Too damn hot, and lots of T-storms, though, from the Cindy Sheehan dispatches.
I have all of the audio since 1 June 04 (archived and in the fireproof safe!), and I think several other folks do as well. I have an email in to Bob (AirAmericaPlace) on getting the April/May shows he has (I think he only has a few of these). I think the plan will be to set up some bittorrent servers or something like that.
Re the Convention, if we can set somthing up in early spring, we can invite the “principals”. I’m thinking a weekend kind of thing. After the Holidays (can I say that?), I’ll set up some polls on date/time/location on the seditionparty site.
Yeah, there were a handful of shows archived from April ’04, and a couple from May (all of which I neglected to grab when they were still up). I know Bob had said he was going to see if AAR had any of the early shows, but he didn’t seem too confident. It would be too typical for AAR not to have thought about archiving their shows. Al Franken probably has his, though.
I hope Marc gets his newsletter out, and his website updated soon. I’d be happy to help him out with it. I have a bunch of ideas on how to market a podcast show and other swag, too.
Speaking of swag, I know we have some talented folks here, so what would everybody think about having a contest for designs and coming up with some stuff (t-shirts, bumper stickers, maybe a book of recipes from Gypsy, whatever; something a little better quality (and non-sweatshop) than the cafe press stuff). Not for the purpose of making money off it, but just to keep the spirit out there. We just need to make sure there’s no copyright issues on anything.
What about making the Sedition Party a place where people can get info on progressive candidates running for office? Kind of like the “Fignting Dems.” The Sedition Party could endorse candidates, and get their names out there, try to get fundraising going, that kind of stuff. I’d love to see it really make a difference (imagine all the candidates clamoring to get the coveted Sedition Party endorsement). Hell, we could donate any swag money to candidates.
Thanks again for the lifeboat!
Eventually we’ll see land on the horizon, but should we be out here for too long, I must ask the lifeboat question. Do we drink our own, or what?
Ol’ Zeb, (AKA Baldrick’s alter ego)
Gypsy-
Do you have a recipe for “Death to Danny Goldberg by Chocolate” recipe?
With cooking steps like: “Beat liberally” “smother”, “whip” “drown”, etc?
Bush has been saying such loony things in his recent tour of the TV interviewers, I will so miss hearing the MS Marc’s take on them. Last night the electricity got cut off ’cause a car hit a pole nearby; slept cold, woke up colder, and had to fumble to get my old portable radio with earphones only hooked up to huddle listening sad and cold to the last MS show.
I was already feeling sad, abandoned. Been feeling inconsolable for days.
If I perceived Air America Radio as a FREEDOM TRAIN for the minds and hearts of American non-voters and the Great American Misled, it was obviously MORNING SEDITION that was the Engine complete with Christo-Fascist Zombie Brigade Cow Catcher clearing the way. I could FEEL Morning Sedition pulling the whole thing forward — youthful, energetic, clearly directional, purposeful, balanced, edgy, truth-telling, intrepid. So thoroughly intrepid, Morning Sedition howls of laughter could be heard each morning as the Freedom Train whizzed across the nation’s airborne tracks passed the whole ugly, lying, corrupt Bushworld media scam.
What went wrong?! (Lack of marketing? Lack of executive office will?) Why did this happen?! (The usual sick CEO drive for overnight profits? No executive vision of long term goals outside profit motive?) Who outside the Bushworld media scam crowd could do such a thing? (Is the Corporate Class a reality that can’t be trusted ever?) I keep asking.
But, more importantly, what I really want to know is: How is Air America Radio now going to make this right?
And there is always only one answer that comes up for me: Admit an error was made and reconstitute Morning Sedition.
I want the same thing from Air America Radio (part of the corporate world afterall) as I want from all the corporate world and my government. And that’s a willingness to own up to errors and make things work properly again.
Morning Sedition — a serendipitous, courage-packed creative endeavor that served us all. And we still need it.
Especially when in the cold, waiting for the electricity to come on, waiting for enough Americans to wake up and vote to throw the torturing crooks out.
I’m gonna download the archives off snotgreensea and start circulating the “tapes.” I already got three other people to listen right before the show went off the air, and they hate me for making them fans now that its gone.
Time to stir the pot and whip up some anger on what people missed out on.
hey krista sent a postcard made the kids day my friend said i laughed hard when she told me what it said ok well later people:40::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire:sweet the firetruck yay
You know, there is a radio station called All Comedy Radio that comes out of LA. maybe? But they play bits like a dj spinning records. They never played Marc during the time I was listening though. I found it to be pretty repetitious to listen to all day long because they had a playlist that seemed to rotate a little too quickly. And another drawback was that Danny Bonoducci does/did the morning drive show. Man, he sucks! Maybe Marc should challenge Bonoducci to a hammer fight for the Morning show. You know he’d do it just for the attention.
Cool! Sean, I just wrote my MS signature quote by The Cramps. I figured it would be good advice for kindergardeners!
Oh man,
I shoud be going to bed, but I am having separation anxiety.
Does anyone know what Marc meant when he mentioned April 13th–as if he did something bad? I wanted to include the wagging finger, but all attempts failed. What’s the secret? The podcast for April 11 is not available so maybe he got the date wrong.
Re: reunion–I love the idea, but I have to check my schedule. I teach 2-6 day intensive courses that often go through the weekend.
Nora, I hope you are warmer now. What a way to listen to the last show. Re: AAR You are so right. When will AAR own up to its mistake? Clearly, the management has become nothing more than a reflection of the system at large.
With Eyes drooping,
Good night, good luck, and stay in touch.
Maron clearly did not want to leave the program, as he recalled never once not looking forward to coming in early to cohost. The yanking of this show chafes a lot of bloggers, including uber-guest James Wolcott. It angers me because I consider a good radio show like MS a lot like a personal blog or diary, and preventing someone from the airing of grievances on a blog just doesn’t happen in these days of the internets. In contrast, when it occurs to a radio program, the clash of Maron’s stream-of-conciousness rants against corporatist decisions strikes my psyche pretty hard. Us bloggers have it good, while commercial media remains totally dependent on the decisions of suits.
In other words, this separation anxiety that we are all feeling is akin to the fear of Mr. Big coming down us and having our blogs taken away. If it could happen to Maron in radio-land it could happen to us bloggers in the blogosphere.
Just a bit of Maron-level psycho-analysis for your perusal.
If we’re going to start the Sedition Party, we will need a platform:
I respectfully suggest that the first plank in our platform be
1. Practice Safe Politics: Wear a Condom!
:peace:

It can’t be that weird for a conservative to make common cause with “left progressives.” There are those who think that this is the direction that the “movement for liberation” should go. Something to do with common principles based on the Enlightenment. Do you ever read the postings on CounterPunch? The theme of (true) conservatives and “progressive” left unity is written about a lot there. Check it out. http://www.counterpunch.org
I’m down with the (Morning) Seditionistas Party! :peace:
Just listening to the weekend broadcast, Friday again. Hello?
Thanks for reminding me. Goddamn! Replay of the final show, Friday.
NickiRose- Since no more MS sows will bloom, what are you going to do for insperation?
Good Mourning on Saturday, blog warriors.
Fishgal’s post on the MS blog was beautifully written. Woke up thinking about no MS. How crazy to be so attached to a radio program. 😕
On a brighter note: I’m smelling impeachment in the air. (and here: http://tinyurl.com/c7sxu )
:fire:
GREAT SITE. ❗ THX!
Good morning Seditionistas. Yes, we’ll start Monday. I have lots of ideas but I’m still in shock that I will be waking up with no funny. I need to grieve.
So, I was watching Antiques Road Show last night and as I was looking at the MS group photo and someone on the road show was getting an appraisal on a promotional figure of Speedy the Alka Seltzer mascot from the 20’s or 30’s. I swear it looked just like Jim Earl. It also occured to me that Jim Earl could pull off a good Howdy Doody!
:fire::bow::fire:
😡 false GoldJerkBerg
Farmerkat, thanks for the link to Huff Post.
Now I’m rethinking my ban on AAR–because I’m certainly not gonna get news like this from MSM!
Yikes! Does AAR have us by the collective balls?
Maybe it’s like the Mafia . . . you can never really leave because you know too much.
It has occurred to me that this is all a publicity stunt and a damn good one at that. Morning Sedition will be back on Monday to entertain all of Stern’s fans.
😯
:40:i lovethis smiley
You know, I just might ask Rhiannon’s parents about changing her name to Marc, at least temporarily. Her grandparents would appreciate her having an easier name to pronounce!
I’m not going to repost today’s recipe from the MS blog. I posted it because it was so bad I knew they couldn’t take the blog away with that still hanging. I hope that means I get to post more recipes to the AAR site.
I like the idea that this is the social meeting place for the Seditionist Party and the website for the Seditionist Party is the political meeting place. But I’m willing to go along with whatever happens. I want to keep meeting here, though. It was an inspiration to create this place and deserves my loyalty.
I’ve added links to this site and to http://www.thesnotgreensea.com to my blog (msgyspy.blogspot.com) but since my blog is pretty much read by the same people who read this one, I doubt it’ll have any impact. Ah, well, I did my bit…
And now I have to go do more woodburning. I can’t wait for this damn season to be over.
:fire::fire::peace::fire::fire:
