Still not much time to pay attention to the blog or to the news. Have they impeached Bush and/or Cheney yet? Is Rove finally in jail (or at least indicted). If I live past next week, I’ll have a lot of catching up to do.

War! good god, ya’ll, what is it good for?
(First!) 😎
cnickthomas Was there a stream of Marc’s show? All I got this Tuesday morning was a clippers game. Damnit
That was about all there was save for a (great) poem and a female representative running down south in L.A. area.
About 1/2 hour was ALL ❗

Druid, I think I’m going back to sleep for a few hours…hopefully will chat later
:fist::yinyang:
Damn, the Clippers are ahead of the Nuggets 2-0. Guess they’ll probably make it into the next round. Such a shame.
Melina, I like your idea about Marc replacing Springer. He would be up against Stephanie Miller, but that’s a bridge I’ll cross when someone builds it.
Although I can think of worse places to be then against Stephanie Miller. :hubba:
(Sorry, I had to say it.)
Susan Joy  I hope you feel better!
Not much show last night…maybe less than half…a good song by Jim (sailing away by Styx?)…and the good rap poem…and the democrat challenging the democrat (which is OK as long as the democrats can win ultimately, otherwise its the wrong time, even if the one in office is a creep. There is a special place in hell for these DINOs)
Well, good morning everyone. I didnt sleep much last night but Will slept 12+ hours and feels sick.
Im awfully guilty because I forced him onto the bus.
Imus has Emmylou Harris and Mark Knopfler (new record out today is fantastic) on this AM… a few more times I think.
Ive got to try to clean up and fix the desktop. Ive had it with this hijack crap.
Worst thing is that many of my programs arent working, including my torrent client(s)….
and I cant get into my blog again…
what is that about?
suz, are you sick?
Some bad crap going round up here!…My sister’s house is like a hospital with vomiting kids, fevers, and grownups with horrible upper respiratory stuff…..
check out MSNBC if you can stand the talk, and try to see Emmylou…unbelievable…one of my favorite artists.
I am trying to save on my TV card. Ptobably Replay will work
I should try
One more IMus thing, since Im sorta foced to wait for my favorite woman singer here…hes going on this morning and apparently (according to Mom) quite a few mornings lately, about the Stern fans who have no where to go…
Every time he says anything about that, I know that Goldfuck is listening and its grinding into all the board members what a big mistake they made.
I hope to god that the retooling that is going on is going to bring some big changes before this network goes under! No one wants to listen anymore….something has to be done.
Imus is not talking about AAR, but he is talking about how Stern’s fans didnt follow him and now theyre disenfranchised.
Hey, I just saw a Kieth commerical saying that they are adding Countdown to MSNBC at 9AM every AM!!…always happy to have another alternative to Springer!!
Im so glad that they added a replay at a reasonable hour. Midnight is just too late!…though I did watch Jon last night and then Colbuerre, and they were both pretty darned good…
Do you think the no one wants to listen problem is a result of the silliness, the bashing or the lack of solutions. I know a lot of people who used to listen but quit because all they heard was people bashing the right and a continuum of problems, exposed lies and falsehoods but no solutions. Some were developing acid reflux problems listening to AAR.
Morning Sedition was killed as a pre-emptive strike. The show was starting to get big. Later it would have become so popular that the hosts could have made demands.
:omg::nixon::jesus:Our for now!
I have always thought that Lizz and Rachel got taken off because they were making to many R noises which was bothering the decocraps and the advertisers. AAR is becoming more of an aphrodisiac for people on the left..You have to listen though to find out what is really going on..
I still like the analogy that AAR is like the little kid in steerage on the Titanic that kept running below decks to tell the people how fast the water was rising.
hi Melina.:joe:..yeah, I have a pretty bad cold…I’m going to have to force myself to work today but only have to tutor for two hours, so it’s not so bad (I bet it’s those kids that gave this to me in the first place). Yeah, I heard the show was only a half hour long.
I agree that Marc should replace Springer, but who will buy that idea? Mark Knopfler and EmmyLou Harris on Imus? I would have loved to see that 🙁 I love Dire Straits and everything sold that man every did. As for Imus, I don’t know how I feel about him. Most of the time I’m not too crazy about him, but every once in awhile he seems to hit on something real, can’t explain it…
Countdown with KO is on in the morning now? Good news, sometimes I have to decide between that and the Daily Show at 8 PM and I don’t like to choose or even wait till 11 pm for Jon Stewart.
And good morning also to Fred and Nicki
I don’t see “bashing the right” as a problem – I do see the not focusing on solutions as potentially annoying for radio…bash the right to a degree but also focus on “who WE are, what we’re going to do about it”
Morning Sedition would have been huge. It was at a great turning point when it was yanked. yeah.
Keith Olbermann’s ratings have been great lately…read something about that on Daily Kos – good to see a show that doesn’t seem to pay lip service to Neocons doing well. It may be mainstream media, but it’s something fun to watch
Both Rat mansions cleaned  and “a ghost” turned on stereo (listening to Zeplin now but the first song was Boys of Summer. No animal can reach it cuz it is tucked away — but to be logical it had to have been cats. But eerie the way it blasted. Hmmmmmmm:billcat:

I suppose its a good idea to put the M$M left sided programs on so they don’t interfere with each other but the people they need to reach work during the day time. I would think most of the people who really need to hear them never do unless they have TIVO and make an effort to do so. It would also be a good idea to have the programs on broadcast TV as well as cable.. I have to wonder how many people in the lower part of the middle class have cable.
Hearing Saul Williams in last nites broadcast made me miss Marc’s beatnik character: the angel headed(?) hipster….can you dig it?
What solutions do you want to hear Fred? It seems that one of the main “solutions” is to win in 2006. So, they could be featuring candidates. I know our local affiliate has had a contender for Jon Kyls’ seat, Jim Pederson, on the air and they have also had his primary opponent. It seems I recall someone like Al featuring candidates.
Yeah, TIVO’s the thing, really, I have to get with the 21st century and that includes the latest technology.

Unfiltered was pulled because Clearchannel (and others) would not pick up the show. In Portland, Morning Sedition was put in UF’s time slot, and Schultz played live, from 12-3. By the time Unfiltered ran its last, it was on 7 out of 50 stations that featured AAR programs.
People need to be encouraged to protest at their media outlets especially if they start broadcasting slanted TV commercials for the right ( which they will). I think these morning TV programs that have people in the street outside the studio would be a great place to put up some unhappy signs and yell some unhappy thoughts.. Since its public property it might be politically dangerous for the police to do anything about it especially in NYC.
There should be a continuous protest outside FAUX news and the NYT
BTW….R.U.B. in last nites broadcast…that’s R-eally U-ncomfortable B-ickering between Marc and Jim…again starting with Jim’s rigid thinking on carnivors vs vegetarianism. I side with Marc in that Jim is too rigid for his age.
Most of the people I know listen to AAR on their computer..I know that does nothing for their Arbitron ratings but .. again it is because we work for a living.. AM radio doesn’t work for a s* under fluorescent lights.
A lot of companies don’t allow their employees to stream either so AAR’s daytime programming just gets out to the people on the left lying around the pool which I suppose is fine with the democraps.. The poor working class doesn’t have any money to give them anyway.
War! No thanks!
We’ll burn your fucking banks!
:rofl2:
I was wondering why there are no protests around media places like newspapers and TV stations. Or organized boycotts of advertisers, even (though there was a boycott of advetisers of some conservative TV group last year, why can’t I remember their name? Had to do with negative show re: the Kerry campaign and I think involved the swift boaters. The boycott WORKED too, they pulled the the show off the air. It can be done)
And the battle’s just begun
There’s many lost, but tell me who has won
The trench is dug within our hearts
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters torn apart
Yeah it was against Sinclare broadcasting I don’t understand the lack of these protests either.. Some of the M$M programs go on the air early enough one could stop and protest on their way to work. Intimidating the M$M into being more neutral in there broadcasting would be a great help.
Protesting media? Make the suggestion, and organize it. I remember when Clinton fired a tomahawk missile at Iraq, the local paper had the headline, “Take That!” We surrounded the newspaper building and yelled obscenities. Then we went on a rampage, opening the paper boxes (I had a key), taking the papers out, and lighting them on fire
:fu:M$M!
Good for you...I’m not seasoned in this kind of stuff, but I suppose one has to start somewhere
I’m just thinking, there should be a blog that focuses just on actions against the media (specifically). Not like Media Matters, though that can serve as a informational tool, but just a place for people to use that info and plan actions
The activists…err.. terrorists in the North West are a bit more proactive than elsewhere. I remember the WTO protests in Seattle.
Maybe I should start that blog…
One of the things you have to do is get the message that there is a protest going on out to the public. Like Krista said some of the AAR affiliate stations might carry your announcement.
The Denver Post and the RockyMtnSnooze share the same printing plant ( because they are both owned by the same Reich wing company). It would make an excellent target for a protest except it is in the middle of a large lot they own so your protest would be a block away in order to stay off of private property.
Got to try and get some work done BBL
Franken’s opinion of the Clippers
Listen to what Al Franken thinks of the Clippers. He’s interviewing Byron Brown, mayor of Buffalo, New York, on 4/24/06.
Yes, the media needs to be reminded of their duties in a Democracy. I wonder if they would change their ways if hordes of people started protesting in front of their buildings.
Hey! I got this from AAR Phoenix’s webmaster!
But, I guess that could change with what is happening in NY so it’s still a wait and see game.

You Know You’re on to Something When the Democrats Try to Sabotage You
Breathing Life into May Day
By SHARON SMITH
For the first time in six decades, International Workers’ Day will be celebrated on U.S. soil with mass working-class demonstrations on May 1st.
May Day, celebrated the world over, commemorates the seismic upheaval inside the U.S. that launched the struggle for the eight-hour workday in 1886, a time when native-born workers had few rights and immigrants had still fewer, yet both united in a class-wide battle.
The decision to organize a national day of protest for immigrants’ rights on May 1st this year is a conscious nod toward the traditions embodied by this working-class holiday, in which immigrants have played such a vital role historically.
May 1, 2006 holds the potential to begin to revive that tradition, from America’s grassroots…

O’Reilley!:omg: Franken has an interesting guest on now, who recently showed Bill to be a ridiculous liar.
I have still not processed the fact that Goldberg killed Morning Sedition. (My hunch is that it was a group of executives who made the decision). Anyway, are there any accounts out there that explain, or speculate what happened? Why? I have my own ideas of why the changes were made, but I have nothing to base them on.

In 1908, the CUP gained control in the Ottoman Empire, with promises of sweeping reforms and equal rights to all peoples of the empire. However, in 1913, the nationalist faction of the CUP, keen on cleansing Turkey from non-Muslim peoples, gained control of the CUP and, under the guise of World War I, embarked on the deportation and the massacre of the Armenians living in the Empire. “The Armenian Genocide was largely a by-product of the First World war –as far as its successful execution is concerned. But the preconditions were already created through an ideology that aimed at transforming the troublesome heterogeneous social structure of the Ottoman Empire into a more or less homogeneous one,” explains Taner Akcam, the first Turkish Scholar to publicly acknowledge the Armenian Genocide, in his book “From Empire to Republic: Turkish Nationalism and the Armenian Genocide” ( Zed Books, 2004).
These are the Young Turks, people.
Economic Justice and Democracy…
ROBIN HAHNEL HAS WRITTEN an important book that will be of real value to all libertarian socialists (a term he uses very broadly to cover anyone who wants to replace capitalism with a system characterized by the direct control of workers and consumers over their own economic activities).
I just lost whatever respect I had for Mary Landrieu! She’s combined forces with Lisa Murkowski:spank::barf:
I can understand that L. is trying to do everything she can for her devastated state, but I just can’t stand the site of Murk.
Landrieu is kind of caught between a rock and hard place in that she needs to keep the thugs in the loop to keep what little reconstruction that is going on in Louisiana going on and still act like a sort of maybe democrap.
What did she and Murkowski do ??
Who is a Democrap from Connecticrap?:rofl2:
How does this state sponsored impeachment thing work..?? I think its a waste of time unless it allows them to send their national guard to DC and arrest someone. The thug congress doesn’t have to do anything they don’t want to do.
Yeah, Landrieu’s brother is struggling to take hold of New Orleans, too. I’m tired of Nepotism, man! And just plain family dominated government. WTF!
The Landrieu family goes back as far in Louisiana politics as the Bush family does in the American industrial mafia.
Ok Rhodes just explained the state sponsored impeachment thing.. Apparently it forces a special meeting in the house. I just thought it would be cool to have a shoot out between an armored division and the DC police with congress stuck in the middle.
Oh, Fred, I don’t know if they actually did anything besides have a little speech together on the shores of Louisiana. Murk. just spoke about how similar the two states are and that Alaska usually doesn’t care about the rest of the states, but in this special circumstance Alaska is closer, and willing to do anything for the state of Louisiana.
I just saw the weekly propaganda on the tube and got sucked in. I’m not even sure if this video footage is recent or not
Yeah, yeah it starts in the Judiciary comm., I think
Lieberturkey is more like the result of taking a crap than a democrap.. That didn’t make any sense but it gets the point .. err.. the smell across.
Finding out that the states have the power to force this impeachment issue must be causing the democrats to visit the bathroom a lot..I can hear them saying OMG I can’t just sit here , collect my wages and bribes and keep telling the voter “But we have no power WAAAAA”…The thugs are probably sweating a lot too. :rant1::rant1::mad::mad:
It’s cool how the Doritos Chip advertisements say naturally baked with big red letters while the bag is totally loaded with unnatural stuff. Crazy:no:

The ratings.. the ratings
http://www.radioandrecords.com/RRRatings/
Talk radio seldom gets above about 2.6.. AAR stations seldom got above 1.6
Will these astronomical gas prices bring the masses on the verge of revolt?
Do not let the democraps channel this energy. They killed the anti-war movement. They will do the same with the gas-gouging revolt, too.
:omg::fu:democraps!
I don’t know about revolt but the RTD buses are running second and third sections.
Maron Mail
Hello, folks-
The Marc Maron Show has been really starting to groove out here in LA.
I’m sorry if you haven’t been able to get it. Someday, it will be made
available to the world. There was a big shake up at AAR Headquarters.
The guy who fired me, Goldberg, is out. It’s not clear what will happen
to The Marc Maron Show at this point in time in terms of getting it out
there. We are suppose to syndicate May 1st but the brass have some
ideas about my future that I’m suppose to hear this week. That aside, I am
well, the cats are well, my wife, Mishna, is well. . .
I just paid roughly double at the gas station today than I did last time I refilled a few weeks ago.
Oh, I’m an idiot! I just saw PJ’s post:doh:
I say we all get scooters and start a gang.
I know Joe Lieberman’s niece – she’s in one of my forums at My Space. She’s actually on my top 8. I like her. I’m glad she doesn’t like to talk about him or politics in general (she does admire him) because I’d make her cry with what I would say. :-X
Ratings (Wikipedia)
Al Franken, host of Air America Radio’s flagship program, The Al Franken Show. (credit: Bill Hayward)
Air America affiliates have performed well in some markets and poorly in others. In Arbitron’s Fall 2005 ratings book, the most recent available as of April 2006, ratings at Air America stations nationwide have trended generally upward, with some of the network’s highest ratings coming from stations in Portland, Oregon (where station KPOJ ranks second among AM stations and sixth overall); Santa Barbara and San Diego, California; and Madison, Wisconsin. Markets where AAR stations have performed poorly relative to the competition include Boston, Massachusetts; Atlanta, Georgia; and Washington, DC. Unsurprisingly, Air America stations tend to perform well in college towns and large cities with culturally liberal reputations, particularly on or near the West Coast.
In New York City, Air America’s flagship station WLIB ranks 24th of 43 measured stations in the New York market with a 1.4 rating, behind competing talk stations WABC (ranked 10th with a 3.4 rating) and WOR (ranked 20th with a 2.1 rating), [10] though Air America programs hosted by Al Franken and Randi Rhodes have outperformed their conservative rivals Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly among adults between the ages of 25 and 54, a key demographic for advertisers. [11]
I want to start a gang!!! But…scooters??? I know they save gas buuuut… how about Vespas or something? I know, let’s dress up in morning sedition uniforms and carry baseball bats and whiten our faces…
WLIB gets shitty reception just about everywhere in the tristate area. I’m only 20 miles from the city and can only get it on my car radio, which has a really great antenna. Basically I stream AAR, and so does everyone in the area I know of. That’s part of the reason for the lower ratings, I’m sure of it.
What’s up with Massachusetts? They went for McGovern, for :rabbi:’s sake!
Yeah, or the Honda BIG Ruckus. Go to your local Rock Honda dealership. Tell ’em Steph sent ya!
We have quite a few employees that live clear over on the east side of Denver in Aurora and to the south in Castle rock. Its a good 20 mile one way commute from Aurora and 50 miles from Castle rock. They seem to have discovered the carpool but casual overtime is a thing of the past.
Do the new scooters have four cycle engines ?? . The ones in the 1960’s were all two cycle engines and made clouds of blue smoke and smelled of gas fumes..kind of like a self propelled chain saw.
Yup, four is the magic number. Check it. Kong says they’re ugly, but whatever. Hit the Specifications link to the left.
Just when you though it couldn’t get any worse
The airlines have come up with a new answer to an old question: How many passengers can be squeezed into economy class? the New York Times begins on Tuesday page ones… Excerpts:
A lot more, it turns out, especially if an idea still in the early stage should catch on: standing-room-only “seats.”
Airbus has been quietly pitching the standing-room-only option to Asian carriers, though none has agreed to it yet. Passengers in the standing section would be propped against a padded backboard, held in place with a harness, according to experts who have seen a proposal.
http://tinyurl.com/gher8
Air Bus responds
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) – Airlines and aircraft makers are always looking to get the most passengers possible onto planes, but Airbus is denying a report that it is in discussions with carriers about having a standing room “seat” to fit even more passengers on its jets.
http://tinyurl.com/hw2o7
——————–
Just what we need a flying subway car.
Those Asian carriers like Cathay Pacific have smaller seats and less space than most other planes to begin with…I can jsut imagine what they’d be like with those standing room sections, sardine cans 😕
Susan, I’ve thought repeatedly over the years about getting a Vespa — a turquoise one with a matching helmet.:banana::banana:
I work only about 9 miles from home, so it’s kind of viable….I guess. Of course there is a possibility that I will be laid off in the fall and facing the possibility of being 51 and looking for a job as a web developer, so I’m not sure it pays to get one now.
::knock knock::: anyone home???
Hey B@B sistah… if your blog is any indication your resume as web developer is good… Vespa would still be cool though.
Tune-time! Check it!:bong:
Hey- I just waited on line at Citgo to get the $2.99 gas! Its a full 20+ cents cheaper than up by my house and anywhere else…
Im still in computer crap here and onlt heard a tiny bit of Marc…but then I also need to try to get the rest of last week’s shows too….My torrent client isnt working and the new one I donwloaded isnt working either. The ocmputer is hijacked or the security is screwed up.
I have to sit down and talk on the phone to the tech folks but went crazy cleaning today so have had no time…maybe tomorrow.
I wont be able to get anywhere up here on a vespa or scooter or motorcycle….I can hardly get up the back driveway in my Mom’s little 4 cyl Toyota….in summer…forget it in winter. I have to stay in the land of trucks for now…but I did get the newest engine that switches from 4 cyl. to 8 cyl, depending on the type of driving…
Gas is expensive….

Waiting on line for gas? That’s not good… gas by me was $3.11 for regular I think. I probably could have driven around to get a cheaper price but then I’d use up gas doing it, so it would all even out …Sorry about your computer, Melina. I still haven’t experimented with Torrent files yet. I know it’s the talk of the town, but it sounds a bit complex. They had something this morning on the radio about hybrid cars and the guy was going on saying “well that’s the only thing the auto industry should sell, there should be laws, then we’d make a difference,” and I was thinking “yeah, right.”

You guys may have heard about this already.
Yeah, from one propaganda post to another propaganda post. Not much of a difference, really, for Snow. The name “Snow” is ideal, that’s the only other thing that occurs to me…
well, the KTLK 1150am stream completely crapped out tonight, so many listeners outside of California could not listen to the show.
Since the show is usually bumped off due to Clippers games, or Bruins games or Mighty duck games(that’s a new one), i’ve decided to put up the mp3 from the night before on the page.
If you have never heard the new show since Marc moved out to the West coast, here’s your first taste.
I will try my best to post the mp3 on a regular basis whenever possible.
I hope this helps those who miss Marc, Jim Earl and the Funny.
