Well, here we go again. Today on Press the Meat, everybody’s favorite potatohead has an all Republican lineup, with the Lizard Queen herself, Condi Rice, on to talk about how we’re only gonna attack Iran as a last resort (if the poll numbers improve, we might just put off the invasion). But of course the big news will no doubt be the marvelous cabinet selection in Iraq – well, except for the Secretaries of the Interior and Defense (which are supposed to be responsible for the country’s security), but how important could they be? Then it’s cracker vs. cracker, as Charlie Norwood of GA, and Lindsey “Fru Fru” Graham of SC debate the most important issue in the whole wide world (except for gay marriage, of course), immigration.
On This Weak with George Snufalufagus, it’s the torture man, Alberto Gonzales (who, interestingly enough, is “unclear” on how his grandparents got to the country), on to tell us what a great guy he thinks Gen. Hayden is, and how those godless Mexicans (that would be the ones aren’t in his own family) need to be kept the hell out of the country (unless they can be exploited as chaep labor, of course). Then it’s John Edwards, on to talk about education, and maybe the 2008 election. At the roundtable, it’s Token Zakaria, Cokie “Bitch” Roberts, and of course, George :jerk: Will. Then an old favorite – John Walsh – is on to talk about how he’s pushing Congress to protect missing kids. Shouldn’t that have been done a long time ago?
Over at Faze the Nation, it’s another appearance from the Marque de Gonzales, Dianne “Traitor” Feinstein of CA, and just plain fucking crazy James Sensenbrenner of WI. Maybe Sensenbrenner can get to the bottom of Alberto’s grandparents immigration status.
Over at CNN, it’s international day, with Israeli PM Ehud Olmert, Australian PM John Howard, the guy with the glamor job (U.S. ambassador to Iraq), Zalmay Khalilzad, and Feisal Istrabadi, Iraq’s deputy ambassador to the United Nations. Plus it’s Chuck “Im simply outraged by all this spying” Hagel of Nebraska, and Ron Wyden of Oregon.
On Fux News Sunday, Chris “The Weasel” Wallace has the Lizard Woman, plus “Maverick” McCain, on to show how tough he was, standing up to all those goddamn liberal kids at the New School.
Later, on 60 Minutes, Mike Wallace looks back on what a huge disappointment his asshole son Chris has been, as well as some other moments from his 237 years in broadcasting.
The West Wing is gone, and in it’s place NBC has part two of an earthquake disaster movie. Then, it’s the season finale of just about everything else, including the Sporanos.
Enjoy your Sunday.

Good ( I think ) morning…
So far C-span hasn’t had chimpy on so I have avoided the dry throws.. The dems had a smack down with Snow.. Why do they televise this in the middle of the night ??
I use to do Chamomile, but if super bad nausa in the mountains and if I had MedicalMar it would work better and quicker. Also if nausa Bad use PEPPERMINT which in mountains I grew and used. 🙂
Just read this on Digby:
Nedrenaline!
by digby
Wow. I go off-line for a few hours and look what happened: Ned Lamont and his team, backed by the netroots activists like Hamsher and Stoller (didn’t they write “Hound Dog”?) got 30% of the vote at the Connecticut Democratic convention, which has to seem like a tidal wave to Joe Lieberman. And according to Colin McEnroe, local Connecticut journalist, there would have been plenty more where that came from if there had been a secret ballot:
The real number is lot worse for Lieberman than 33 percent. I don’t know how big the Lamont vote would get if you could tabulate the no-shows and the sleeper cells of delegates who plan to vote differently in the primary, but I do know it’s a bigger number. And the convention is full of party regulars, usually the easiest people to keep in line. Wisdom of the ages would suggest that the “amateur” voters are potentially much more rebellious.
I will admit that I have always believed it would be difficult for Lamont to win this race, as I’m sure everyone agrees. Incumbency is the most powerful tool in a politicians box. My main reasons for being enthusiastic is that I do not think Blue State pols like Liebermann should get a free ride when they consistently enable the opposition. (There’s a lesson here for other Blue State Dems who insist on letting their iconoclastic self-image sabotage the Party in a hyperpartisan era — Bob Casey, take note.)
After last night I think this might actually happen. Lieberman may break from the party if he fails to win the Democratic nomination and run as an independent — and he may win as an independent too, with his large Republican following. It would be tough to beat him. Bring it. It’s long past time for Democrats to draw some lines. This is going to be a brawl for the foreseeable future and we need Democratic partisans not Republican appeaser
yeah, peppermint is my second digestive herb, ginger being the third…ginger is actually the strongest, chamomile the gentlest. Peppermint is quite effective for a lot of tummy issues.
I wonder if Nicki is going to the “big event” in the pacific North West today.. The final blow to the nuclear power industry in the North West.. the demolition of the second tallest structure in Oregon. The demolition of the cooling tower at the Trojan Nuclear generating plant. ( It doesn’t take much to keep the people in the North West amused):banana::banana:
I’m sooo glad I’m not the only fool who is awake on 5:28 AM on a Sunday morning 😕
Finestein or FrankenWhoreStein is also having a challenger. It is coming to California also.

Looks like it is just going to be a matter of time before the Elpaso, Warez police and the Mexican and US army have a severe disagreement or Elpaso succeeds from the union.
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/12847017/from/RS.1/
So the INS is tipping off the Mexican Army about border patrols and the Coast Guard is tipping off ships about inspections.. What are we “importing” that we we really don’t want anyone to know about ??
And on that note I bid all a G’Night, G’Day
…and dream of bush being arrested, like the criminal he is

WJ is talking about this article by David Gergen concerning the US drifting in terms of leadership.. Lots of ticked off people who don’t like anyone currently in office.. hummm. sounds familiar.
There are always those Cool Aide drinkers.. Most sound quite reasonable but everything they say is a repeat of a Reich wing talking point lie. No one has mentioned anything about the unemployment figures being grossly wrong. Most thugs must just watch FAUX news while they are lying around the pool waiting for that dividend check.
morning all.
caught up on Juan Cole… if this is true, the US is already ramped up to go after Iran – mad men controlling this country.

Another Fraud on Iran: No Legislation on Dress of Religious Minorities
Cole links to his co-authored article which is worth reading.
Don’t exaggerate Iranian threat
fred, i enjoy reading your comments on the economy, btw.
suzie, the fire smell never leaves, does it? I was in a house fire when i was a child and i still can remember that smell anytime anywhere.
Gotta run, guys, have a lot to do to get you know who out the door……
There was an article on RawStory about a week ago about all the Naval ships leaving San Diego headed west.
The Bushevics are going to do the same thing with IRAN they did with IRAQ..Say they are negotiating while they ramp up for a war. What happens if Putin and HU say “not this time fool” ??
Now we hear that the number of street people is decreasing.. The tech workers must be letting them room in their SUV’s
In the 80’s we had an engineering company in a building with some retail businesses. The TV dealers store burned one night and damaged the building so bad all the tenants had to move out.. We were well insured but we were out of business for all practical purposes for about three months while we moved everything and cleaned up.. Our new offices still smelled like a BBQ three years later. Bush 1 put that operation out of business and Bush 2 has put most everyone we knew out of business . Now all that is left here is Defense contractors and some very limited engineering R & D.
I think it was about a year ago that Ms Rant went on her road trip and found total disarray in the country side.. She needs to do that again .. that might explain Bushes popularity numbers. These people they have on WJ must all live inside the beltway or some other major city in a 2000 dollar a month condo and watch nothing but FAUX news and M$NBC. I wonder how one would set up a grass roots information network that would voice the opinions and the concerns of the laid off auto worker , the small farmer, the textile worker, the steel worker and the plumber and welder ?
I never hear anything on the left sided media from these kind of people.. Perhaps if you combined it with some basketball and football.
Best Wishes and Safe Travels for MrFarmerkat!!

CT Democratic Convention
An inside look from the Hartford Courant (via Atrios)
Frank Rich today, NYTimes
If Lieberman runs as an Independent it’ll be interesting, I think that’s what’s going to happen. (He still may win CT, though (thinking of the sound coast/Fairfield)
Feel free to five me an update on the Old Man situation, Druid_666. Thank god for humane gestures.
I bought a copy of
Nuggets
yesterday. I know all of the songs because I listen to Little Steven’s UnderGround Garage.:omg:
Hell with you all!
Little Steven’s Underground Garage? The cool place to be? What is that exactly (hello Nicki)
On the question of ideological models, it would be prudent to consider that the Vice President’s description of the next Mexican border sounded a lot like the Israeli border with Palestine. In this context, the Bush-Cheney troop deployment will provide free of charge to the winning bidder of border security services a cadre of perma-temp employees who are already trained, dressed for photo-ops, and security-cleared (in case you missed the simultaneous news this week that the agency in charge of security clearances was shutting down because of poor budgeting).

Anybody listening to Tyger Thom rationalizing about his “liberal” position on illegal immigration. Motherfcking liberal jaackass.
hey everyone!
I just got the stream on radiopower. “If we criminilize it, they will just leave” Huh?
Hey M 😀
Ahhh, Gonzalez, Rice, and George Will on TV …. I’m being attacked by neocons…
Tyger Thom wants to criminalize illegal immigration–just like Mexico. All 12 million go back. Recall what Malcolm X said about liberals.
“Disagree with one of them, and you’d think you were talking to Adolph Hitler.”
Assatta Shakur
Thom Hartmann is not what I thought he was when I started listening to him, that’s for sure. 🙁
http://www.q1043.com/main.html
Little Steven’s UnderGround Garage is on WAXQ in NYC!
http://www.q1043.com/main.html
will someone just come out and say that wanting to come to the US and have a good life is NOT a criminal act? Would someone just come out and say that? Damn
Well, the New School did us proud re: McCain...dont know if you guys have been talking about it because I have not read up yet and probably wont get to it till later on…
Ill have to get the Dowd and Rich up on RIPCoco before I head out again to see Will.
Imprison the illegal bastards. Starve them!
Oh! Q 104, yes, I even get that on the regular radio 🙂
That creepy bastard McClain sure got a little of whay he deserves.
:rofl2:
I suppose I’ve written enough already, none of which has been particularly journalistic. But I do feel that I need to respond to a couple of things that have been floating around in the news. It’s been noted in several columns that anti-McCain sentiment coming from the left may actually help him to garner support from the conservatives by giving him the opportunity to paint us as extremist liberals, so we should all keep our mouths shut. I say we need some “extremist liberals” if we’re ever going to get our democracy back
They call us extreme liberals no matter what we do. They will do it if we shut up, they’ll do it if we speak out. It’s their talking point for us. So we might as well speak up!
I can just imagine McCain walking into the New School. He must shudder just going through the doors. Hehe.
Eh, who needs all of that when there’s beer in the fridge and Family Guy is on? :alc:
No, Thom, create a police state. Prove that last statement, Tyger. Radio is a totalitarian medium. The one behind the mike has a huge advantage. Tyger does provide foil for argument.
Hartmann is a classical economics zealot. Number of jobs determine the price of wages. I’d love to see that bastard in a public debate with someone who knows modern economics–and is not, say, an apologist for the status quo.
Do we like Nagin? Mayor Nagin? Is he the lesser of two evils? (I am fairly ignorant on the situation.)
7 times MVP! Steroids-aided Galactic SuperStar! :omg:
call him up and set him straight – if he can talk to libertarians, etc., he should take your call!
i don’t know much about Nagin. He was, like NYC’s Bloomberg, a Republican until he ran for office, then switched parties. that much I do know about him. Not following him too closely at the moment.
He is a true believer in classical capitalism. Some of my points were addressed last hour; he trashed them all. The main contention is that a petty capitalist like Hartmann wants to maintain the system, while someone like me wants to “change” the system.
The Ayn Rand institute. :::SCREAMS::::
He has on one of his libertarian strawmen.
This is a scam. Shredding the AR dude is child”s play.
how frustrating. He shouldn’t call himself a liberal.
Libertarians frustrate me even more than Neocons sometimes. I can’t deal with their little-minded selfishness
No. He is a conservative petty capitalist. He believes that there is no alternative to the natural economic system, based on private decisions of entrepeneurs.
Stop dropping names, Tyger Thom.
“there’s always an option to compete unless the government steps in” These people live on a fucking different planet from me
Libertarians are not in power. The Neocons, etal., adapt the libertarian philosophy to breakdown the liberal policies. It’s a big racket. Think Sopranos and their businesses.
Should I answer Howard Dean’s call and send the DNC some money? $2
They are evil… but people buy it. Though I think the Neocon = small government thing people are starting to see through
help Dems? This is a trick question, right? 😉
$2 is too much
Have you seen this tape, or have I mistaken your
message for another…?:rofl2:
Maintain the empire…:omg:

What is Nuggets? I meant to ask you that before. yeah, you’re right, Thom thinks everything is going to be ok if we just “enforce some rules already on the books”

I am out of :joe::joe::joe::omg:
One hit wonders! Where else have I read that?
oh no. I’m out of everything actually, have to go shopping later …
NUGGETS originally came out in 1972.:omg:
I do to. I am lazy, though.
One hit wonders are often the best songs 🙂 When I went to Cleveland to the R&R Hall of Fame they had a whole section dedicated just to those songs
I think I’ll send Howard Dean a dollar.
Many one hitters are garage rockers.
Me too..lazy but not really guilty about it. 🙂 Though I miss chocolate and will have to buy some fairly soon, because that’s my main caffeine source
That the most famous garage-rock record of all time, the Kingsmen’s “Louie Louie,” is buried on the last CD of this four-disc box is very much in keeping with the spirit of the (often) one-hit wonders that people Nuggets. Here, “Louie Louie” is just another great song.
That’s what Amazon says…
Formed in San Francisco, California in 1964, the Beau Brummels were the first nationally successful rock group to emerge from the Bay area. Vocalist Sal Valentino had previously led his own group, Sal Valentino And The Valentines, which issued a flop single called “I Wanna Twist” in 1962. Guitarist Ron Elliott, bassist Ron Meagher and drummer John Petersen joined him in a new act, taking the name Beau Brummels in deference to their love of British beat music. (Beau Brummel was a dashing young Englishman who lived from 1778-1840 and was known for his wit and fancy clothes) Playing a steady diet of current hits, the quartet enjoyed a committed following within the city’s Irish community prior to adding guitarist Declan Mulligan to the line-up. Spotted by local DJ Tom Donahue in a club in San Mateo (just south of San Francisco), the group was signed to Donahue’s small San Francisco-based label, Autumn Records in 1964. Before the hits started coming, Mulligan quit the band, a decision he would later regret.
With Sly Stewart (later Sly Stone) as their producer, the band’s first single , Ron Elliot’s “Laugh, Laugh”, soared to number 15 in the U.S. just a few months after they had played their first show together. The melancholy, minor-key original sounded so much like the British bands flooding the airwaves, that many listeners initially mistook the Brummels for an English act.
I prefer Highway Robbery to Louie, Louie.
1951 Yankees.
Fun stuff, yeah… This music is what paved the way for pre-punk like the Dolls and the Stooges…I can only say to knowing about half of this, but I’m sure it would be great to listen to
Compared to Barry Bonds, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle’s batting records look anemic. At least since 2000. I wonder why?
Creedence Clearwater used to be the Golliwogs? Wow, I need to read these little reviews more often, I didn’t know that…
I bought that NY Dolls demo recordings album. :omg:
Barry Bonds just makes me ill.
Why do I get the feeling you have a freakin awesome record collection?:grin:
The Endangered Visigoth
The Rise and Possible Fall of Richard Pombo
By JEFFREY ST. CLAIR
The banner stretched across the entrance to the Crobar – a trendy New York nightclub -read, “Welcome to the Pombo-Palooza”. At the door, members of the Rockettes handed out cowboy hats to the A-list invited guests. Inside, a model clad in rhinestone hot pants and a cleavage-enhancing top that might have chastened a Hooters waitress rode a mechanical bull. On the stage, the Charlie Daniels Band cut loose with fiddle-driven Southern funk as lobbyists and lawyers, politicians and tycoons danced the two-step and drank iridescent blue martinis.
Such was the scene in 2003 at Congressman Rick Pombo’s coming out party. The young legislator from Tracy, California had just been appointed the new chairman of the House Resources Committee. At 42, he was the youngest chairman on Capital Hill. Bush couldn’t attend the hoedown but he sent a herogram congratulating the congressman he calls “Marlboro Man”.
That night money flowed faster than champagne. Before Charlie Daniels had finished his first set, Pombo’s campaign war chest had been fattened by more than $250,000, courtesy of an assortment of real estate barons, oil and mining company executives, timber lobbyists and casino operators. Many of these contributors would turn out to be the cream of lobbyist Jack Abramoff’s clientele. (Abramoff now faces many years in prison for his corrupt dealings.) And that was just their opening bid. Over the next two and half years, Pombo’s political accounts would be fattened by an additional $2 million from an ever-expanding retinue of lobbyists, real estate barons and corporate PACs.
Pombo’s is an unlikely success story. He is a college drop-out from a dusty ranching town in California’s Central Valley. He showed no particular flair for politics during his early days and, when given the chance, bankrupted the family dairy ranch. Politics was a last resort, and even in this arena Pombo’s future seemed uncertain: he was not a particularly gifted public speaker, nor possessed of an [especially] engaging personality.
the last boxed set I bought was a funk collection. Not too much money to buy CDs these days, though. I’ve been putting a lot of stuff on my I-Pod though

A lot of people question his record because of the steroid thing – but the record stands, and that annoys me. I’ve been following baseball since I was a kid and that people like this should “outdo” some of the serious contenders who got where they did through legitimate means is disgraceful
plus he’s an arrogant asshole 😡
hehe, the Monkees were my first favorite band
Look at all of the people who were hitting 50+ homers in the 1990s. Had Bonds not been walked 200 times, he would have hit 80+ homers. He had better numbers starting in his late 30s than Mantle had in his 20s. Prior to his steroids, Bonds was probably the best hitter of his era–IGriffey was his main challenger. Now he looks like he is from another planet.
I guess we’ve entered a different era in baseball, where records are going to be in the stratosphere and everyone will be forced to compete by using performance-enhancing drugs – unless there’s a way to stop it. Personally I miss pre-90’s baseball very much 🙁

Look at his slugging average. Those kind of numbers have not been around since the 1920s and 1930s.
It’s crazy. I wonder what happened in the 20’s and 30’s??? Actually I think stadiums were smaller back then, that might account for some of the slugging back then. I wonder

Bill James considers Mickey Mantle to be the best player of the 1950s. Furthermore, according to James, at his peak Mantle rivalled Babe Ruth. Above are some of Mantle’s peak seasons.
I didn’t include Mantle’s walks. He was walked a lot. That accounts for his high on-base average. Bonds had more walks than Mantle–and a higher on-base average.
Lots of factors. No relief pitching, so to speak, for one.
Yeah, the Mick was great. I wish I got to see him but he was before my time. I grew up watching Daryl Strawberry, that was my idea of a real slugger for awhile. Oh yeah, I’m a Mets fan, LOL
Mantle was before my time, too.:rofl2: Strawberry was great. Reggie Jackson was my man.
He was quite a character. I lived, ate, and breathed baseball for awhile there when I was younger. I still like it but I’m not quite as obsessed anymore. I had even written baseball poems and story for Spitball magazine (really wacky ones, LOL)

Hey Nicki, are you familiar with all the Pebbles compilations. I used to have all of them, on vinyl. The first 3 are really good and the ones that focus on Texas bands and SF bands are really good.
Sorry to read about your son Melina, why is he in the hospital?

PEBBLES

Eduardo, the caller to Ring of Fire, is making sense. Immigration is caused by NAFTA and Mexican Oligarchs. He is upset that some liberals are calling for harsh responses.
Travis, I aim to conquer more than this blog! :nixon:
Bobby says it better than Tyger Thom. He is clear, no founding father adulation baggage.
Speaking of lobbyists, has everyone seen
Thank you for smoking
:rofl2:no… that’s a satire I think?
I wonder how well Bobby Kennedy gets along with Tyger Thom, given that the latter has written a crackpot book on the JFK assassination.
:omg:
Yes, it was a satire. It was a movie, too.
I wasn’t at the Trojan tumble down, fred.
Bobby probably thinks he’s stooopid.
I did a search of Tyger Thom citations on the CounterPunch site. All the articles were concerned with his work on voting machines, none of the snarky, critical stuff I was looking for.
an interfaith show is on now
Brain-addled.
I don’t think you’d find too much criticism of him on a liberal site, but maybe I’m wrong…
Mike Malloy rerun on radiopower
Counterpunch would be insulted by being called liberal.
The liberal church show has some good guests on.
sorry, I don’t know the site too well
Looking at the Right Wing assault on mainline churches. The preachers know the vocabulay and can articulate the concepts. I am impressed by them.
ok, I put it back on, because Malloy is giving me de ja vu
What do you mean by liberal?
Everyone in the Religious Right, right down to the preachers, have been indoctrinated for years and years in exactly how to frame everything…they never miss a beat. The religious left has an uphill battle fighting that kind of thing, so they have to work hard
I meant left as opposed to right? Probably not a smart way to phrase it
These guys on the show have made a good start.
By that definition, then Counterpunch is liberal.
well you can tell me more about the site, obviously I didn’t know what I was saying 🙁
http://www.stateofbelief.com is interesting. They seem to have old shows archived. It’s a topic that interests me
I followed that link you posted, and got skeletor. Could it be that my computer is out of time? I can access most everything else on the web.
try http://airamericaradio.com/stateofbelief/
Yeah, I remember Nuggets. It was one of those records that was ALWAYS in the seedy record store I used to go to. Pebbles seemed to be more obscure. I wish I had the first Pebbles compilation at least.
Think liberal as opposed to socialist. Most of the AAR hosts are liberal.
These guys are good. Joe Conasen would be impressed.
Absolutely. Pebbles found more obscure recordings.
yeah, they want literalist religion to be the basis for our government. 🙁
hey Krista 🙂

Liberalism is an ideology, philosophy, and political tradition which holds liberty as the primary political value.[1] Broadly speaking, liberalism seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, limitations on power, especially of government and religion, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market economy that supports private enterprise, and a transparent system of government in which the rights of minorities are guaranteed. In modern society, liberals favour a liberal democracy in the form of either a republic or a constitutional monarchy, with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law and an equal opportunity to succeed[2]

Socialist mainly disagree with liberals about the market. You can find socialists anywhere from strongly regulating the market to outright abolition.
That definition is helpful…I find people disagreeing all the time about what liberalism is. Usually people don’t talk about the market at all when they define liberalism, but how ones view it is an important thing to consider
Democratic socialism is a broad political movement propagating the ideals of socialism within the context of a democratic system. In many cases, its adherents promote the ideal of socialism as an evolutionary process resulting from legislation enacted by a constitutional parliamentary democracy.
[Other democratic socialists favor a revolutionary approach that seeks to establish socialism by creating a non-parliamentary, direct democracy more direct democratic system, usually based on democracy rooted at the local level as well as at the national level, including broadbased popular associations such as workers’ councils, consumer councils, community groups, and other similar organizations. ](Wikipedia)
Malloy would probably agree with the above. The New Deal made great strides towards Democratic Socialism.
The stuff in brackets is downright revolutionary.
[I added the brackets above.]
the New Deal gave us some good things…no wonder the Neocons want to trash its entire legacy. Personally I have doubts that socialism can advanced by legislation…of course I’m very cynical
This is closer to what I meant by Social Democracy:
Modern social democracy emphasises a program of gradual legislative reform of the capitalist system in order to make it more equitable and humane, while the theoretical end goal of building a socialist society is either completely forgotten or redefined in a pro-capitalist way.
(Wikipedia)
sounds like it’s more about trying to improve capitalism than advancing socialism
The prime example of social democracy is Sweden, which prospered considerably in the 1990s and 2000s[citation needed], against the predictions of those who suggested Sweden’s 57% top tax bracket would slow its economy. Instead, Sweden has produced a strong economy from sole proprietorships up through to multinationals (e.g., Saab, Ikea, and Ericsson), while maintaining the longest life expectancy in the world, low unemployment, inflation, infant mortality, national debt, and cost of living, all while registering sizable economic growth. [citation needed] On the other hand, Sweden experiences welfare dependency of around 20% of the working age population according to the Swedish Trade Union Confederation. Likewise, crime has been steadily rising since the 1960s, and during the past decade has grown ever more violent. Crime has risen from 195 000 reported crimes in 1950 to 1 245 000 reported crimes last year. The number of murders have doubled since 1990, and sex crimes such as rape have increased from 5 246 in 1990 to 12 768 in 2005. See [1]

That’s what I gather. Reform of capitalism.
I guess that looks at both sides…but crime needn’t be attributable to the economic system…
I’m streaming a Springer rerun and sort of listening to music at the same time
I don’t think this country will ever even get to the point where Sweden is through legislation…
I’ll bet that Sweden’s prisons aren’t as fucked up as Ours.
I heard this Springer show last week. I like his show.

Just stopping in to say hi. Hi

Not with the corporately owned media and the right wing religions, and the racists, and the…Democratic Party…and….
Organize and make demands!
it’s good when he’s not being overly polite to conservatives that call up
Did you make the Big Trojan Tumble Down?
hey there 🙂
True. But who is perfect–besides Tyger Thom?
what is that, a nuclear power plant?
Yes. It was built about 30 years ago. It has been lying fallow for several years now.
Marc Maron is! :omg: Well, no, ok, there’s room for improvement … sometimes … 🙁
well glad to know it’s not being used… wish they’d freakin close Indian Point, I get the heebiejeebies thinking about it just a few miles north of me
so did they knock it down today?
Can nuclear power plants be made safe?
Hey Druid_666! How is my dog doing?
To make myself feel better after the Cavaliers’ ugly loss to the Pistons, knocking the Cavs out of the playoffs, let’s switch gears to something even uglier…
CRUELLA WATCH!:omg:
From Sunday’s St Petersburg Times. In which we learn once again that the artificially-inflated Ms. Harris is NOT a cheap date.

And since we were talking baseball earlier, how about a doubleheader? In which a slender, well-tanned skeleton creeps out of Cruella’s closet. So to speak.

This is even funnier if you know that gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist has long been suspected of being gay, since he is thin, single and neat.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
But one suspects that waking up next to Harris would be enough to make ANY man switch teams.
Crist’s opponent in the Repig primary, Tom Gallagher, paints himself as a Christian family-values kind of guy, so expect the gay card to be played at some point during the campaign. Mel Martinez pulled it out a couple of years ago in his Senate campaign, and it got him the nomination.
Isn’t Florida a wonderful place?:fu::fu::fu:
Meanwhile, on the Dem side, Jim Davis and Rod Smith are running efficient campaigns and doing their best to keep it civil. That’s more like it. 😀
Also, congrats to Ray Nagin on his re-election. Not to mention good luck. He’ll need it.
Don’t know…but Indian Point has too many strikes against it at this point. Things keep going wrong there, so many close calls…and they won’t even create a no fly zone over it, and it’s still considered a target
Hey Kev…wit and amusement in your post, yay 🙂
RAINIER, Ore. The cooling tower at Oregon’s only nuclear plant has been demolished.
Crews used roughly a ton of explosives today to bring down the nearly 500-foot tall cooling tower at the Trojan plant along the Columbia River.
With a rumble, the tower leaned to the side and collapsed upon itself, leaving a cloud of dust and a pile of rubble. The whole thing took less than ten seconds.
Portland General Electric ordered the tower destroyed as part of the decommissioning of the Trojan plant.

Damn! CRUELLA is Hot! Post more pics, please.
hmm
Christian communism is a form of religious communism centered around Christianity. Some advocates argue that Christian communism was taught by Jesus and practiced by the Apostles themselves; a point disputed by other Christians.
Some writers argue that evidence from the Bible suggests that the first Christians, including the Apostles, created what amounts to a small communist society in the years following Jesus’ death and resurrection.
:omg:
Randi Rhodes is entertaining, but when she gets on her conspiracy kick she makes herself look like an ass, and everybody who agrees with her: http://www.salon.com/tech/col/smith/2006/05/19/askthepilot186
Bush is as bad as she says he is, and yeah, this is the worst of times since the civil war if you love America, but not every bad thing you can imagine is true. We still need evidence and logic, not bile and hysteria.
I’m sure the religious right is going to want to hear about Christian communism. Yeah, there was too much conspiracy stuff on Randi last week
Who is watching the Mets vs. Yankees?

He became overcome with anxiety and was hardly out of bed last week…really bad…so hes in a nice sorta fancy place up in Katonah (where Bill and Hill Clinton live)…but he is pretty depressed and not happy to be there. He should get out in a week or so…I hope.
I miss him terribly and he is being very brave. Its his first time away from home….
So, its looking like Rove is indicted…more or less…?
