Well, the day I haven’t exactly been looking forward to has finally arrived. I’ll be heading out in about five hours (shooting for an ETD of 10:00 AM), with an estimated time of arrival at about 5:00 this evening (give or take a couple hours for getting lost and whatnot). If all goes well, I’ll be moved into my room and on the Internet before dark. I sure hope the A/C is working – supposed to be 90 in DC today; have I mentioned how much I hate hot weather?
I have last Friday’s Marc Show to listen to yet (that should get me to Binghamton or so), and was able to download a few audiobooks and other shit (including the 1938 season of “The Shadow”), so I shouldn’t have to resort to jeebus radio or NASCAR or anything on the way down.
It’s going to be strange being away from everybody, and all my stuff (my rubber chicken, hanging skeleton, Marvin the Martian coffee mug, Guy Noir bobblehead, plus the wooden ships my dad made). I keep telling myself that this will all go quickly, and be over before I know it (which I’m sure is true, but from this end of things, it sure feels like a long, lonely couple of months ahead). Then again, it’s a great excuse for not having to work around the house all summer, so I’ll have to console myself with that.
Anyhow, I’ll be bringing my camera, and maybe I’ll get some interesting pictures to post. I’m bringing my webcam, too, so if you’re really lucky, you might get to see live video of a dorm room. Not too exciting, unless I find some catholic school girls to party with (we’ll have to keep it a secret from my wife, of course).
Otherwise, y’all enjoy your Memorial Day, and I’ll hope to get back to you later tonight.
Bye.
The fence and a few commnets about it

My the force of the Blog be with you and keep you safe. :gate:

OMG,some of those comments are hilarious. Just have to say that fence would have trouble keeping a cow contained let alone someone nimble on two feet. What are they seriously thinking? Oh yeah, they can’t… I think the “private” land owner just needed some new fencing and came up with this “brilliant” idea to get free labor and materials.
mr fk is reporting from Camp Victory this am… a Memorial Day “spot,” I guess.
I keep having problems with those who keep saying that if Bush really decided he wants to be dictator for life how screwed we will be.. It should be that if he decides that how screwed he and and all the politicians in DC will be.
Rachel is a best of reruns this am.. Riley’s music radio was a bit different to say the least.
listening to some jazz myself, fred, but need to take the dogs out before the heat revs up.
Oh, yeah, it’s a holiday over there. Guess it’s pretty bad to forget a holiday about remembering. :smack:
Morning / Evening :yinyang:
Nothing worthwhile would ever happen on a holiday.. Although a certain Sunday in December comes to mind.
Wednesday we’ve got the Dragon Boat Festival. (Day pff!!!)
Some fuckers just beat me uP!!! I don’t feel good at all.
they hit me in the head with brass knuckles.:fustrate: Oh, and I’m drunk, too. Really
I’m not making this up……….well, I just wrote a bunch of stuff, but i don’t know what happened to it. Um, there is sand in my mouth:barf:Fine, I’m too messed -up to even type .Whatever. Happy memorial day, or whatever it is!
:barf::???:
I’m leavin’ now, don’t worry… I hate this place. I have, like, two weeks and I’m gone….I’m done now.:peace:
Bye travis.. better get the sand out of your living room
Travis : Which “this place” is it that you hate?
Your down for the count now,but Ihope to read from you.
Keep updating theseditionedtion.
Jeez, Travis, be careful out there. Well, time to pack up my toys, so everybody have a nice day. If I find one of Sean’s WiFi hotspots, I’ll catch ya from the road.
Otherwise, if there are any DC area seditionists out there that want to get together between now and August, let me know.
Later sheeple.
when will tmms syndicate?
Hey PJ- safe travels…and if you need a perch in CT, right outside of NYC, you can always stop here and stay in the little guest house apartment…I have a feeling that there is a more direct route to DC from there, but I havent looked….
Send your mailing address…I have a package for you of some of Hi’s shows and a live Jackson Browne acoustinc concert…and I just havent had the time to get it out to you. I’ll send along a care package for your next long drive!
Travis— are you OK?
In other news, Will seemed quite a bit better yesterday…and so Im more hopeful (of course, Mom was there and they tend to joke alot, which doesnt relfect how he really feels when we just talk)….and my birds are fantastric so far.
Lola actually listened to the “leave it” command, which is our best from dog school. She dramatically jumps to the side when I say that and then looks at me in the hopes of a cookie!!
Im gonna work on posting some pics of the birds etc….
Hey PJ, The anticipation of a lonely summer is worse than it will be. Hopefully there will be some DC Seditionists you can hang out with. :alc:
Oh Travis.:smack: Did you smart off to someone in a drunken state? Or was it completely unprovocated. I wanna hear the story. Sleep it off first.
So, are Nicki and Susan sittin’ in a tree yet?
CNN breaking news that CBS has lost 2 crew members and has a correspondent in critical….video on CNN but I dont want to even see it.
I almost lost my breath when they said a correspondant…
Im thinking of Kat and Mr….sending good karma out to them both and to the families of the crew (unnamed camera and soundmen) and correspondent,Kimberly Dozier….
When will this craziness end?
Krista…they do get along, dont they?…are we watching love in bloom here on the morningseditionists blog?
PJ is gonna have to set up some private chat rooms soon.
And Fucker is on CNN speaking with no sound….
“Liberty is always the result of courage”…huh? so what was the courage (to quote Bill Mahr) of the hijackers? Unless you count their own liberty from their religion twisted minds, wether in heaven with 26 virgens or as pieces thrown to the wind (parts of which may end up in the WTC memorial, if they keep up with the plan for the refrigerator full of unidentified body pulp.)??
So, I ask…who’s liberty? Exxon/Mobile? Halliburton? Kennyboy Lay?
Certainly hes not talking aout the liberty of poor people in America who cant support their families and get health care…..
What an asshole…
“tyranny must be met with resolve”
So, I resolve to see you impeached and your record smeared for all time…..you fuckin tyrant!
(god Nicki, youre starting to rub off on me!)
Shitty news out of Baghdad. mr fk called me early this a.m. to tell me about it. Dozier is at the CASH hospital you see in Baghdad ER… he spoke with her two days ago. F*UCK..yeah, the insurgency is in its last throes
um, sorry melina, i see you posted the news. thanks for your thoughts. Glad to hear Will is doing better. The funny is always a help, don’t you think? That’s nice he can joke around with your mom. Also happy to hear your birds & all are getting along a-ok!
hubby called to reassure me in case i heard news about an american news crew. he said dozier is a really nice woman. Now that I saw Baghdad ER, I know that if they operate where they did, it was very serious. Glad she’s in good hands.
=====
Drove downtown today and some Rethug must have died because outside the mortuary home there were tons of cars with neo-con stickers plastered all over the cars. I hate being reminded of the kooks that live around here.

spill the beans trav! Hope you don’t have anything broken.
CBS video on the crew deaths at
http://www.cbsnews.com
It was described as a car bomb that was exploded as soon as the CBS crew and Dozier got outside their humvee. Who knew where they were going to be. It seems obvious they were targeted. Is this an inside job. Who is furnishing details of the journalists whereabouts.
I think it’s time for the networks to pull their news crews out of Iraq. What purpose does it serve? Except for the insurgents to pick off journalists every few months to make a statement.
Mr Farmkat on MSNBC reporting/looking very effected by the loss of this news crew…….:(
Nicki and Susan are sleeping in. Did they have a late night? If I didn’t know they live on opposite sides of the country I’d think they hooked up!:tongue:
#31 :rofl2:
Maybe we should rename the blog The Nicki and Susan Chat Room :billcat:
thanks B around B – i missed him and can’t get through to him. i know he said he had talked to her recently and she was excited that she had just bought her mother a house or condo – you have to be a pretty cool person to do that.
isi, how was Okie territory, the weather & wedding?
dang, my cows had another purpose:
Cow Manure Could Be Cheap Alternative to Gas
but my cows didn’t go in one spot. My donkey, however, does and her manure makes for much better compost (in my humble opinion). Seems to be higher octane!
Check out these repressive tactics:

Re: number 34 – drat, there are no cows in Hartsdale. I swear I’d be out there shovelling shit if I could pay less than $20 for half a tank of gas.
It surely is sunny in Portland today. Anybody barbequeing?
How about horses? You know what the wise elders wrote.
Yes, I know what they say. “a horse is a horse, of course of course.”
I guess everybody is out shoveling shit for fuel.
Melina, I’m glad Will is feeling better and that your birdies are glad to be home and your birdies as well 🙂
I mean in the Talmud. Didn’t you read Israel Shahak’s book?
could very well be. I could try to use Nush’s bird shit but it would take forever to fill a gas tank.
no…:omg:
So, are Nicki and Susan sittin’ in a tree yet?
Comment by Kristapea — May 29, 2006 @ 10:26 am
Maybe tbey were trying a new position, lost their balance and fell out. That would explain why we haven’t heard from them today. :hubba:
But better a tree than a Bush. :fu:
Hey. We got lost in Ape Canyon.
I’ll be driving by Ape Canyon tomorrow NR!
I’ll look for you!
What’s left of it, after Helen blew.
:billcat:re#37 NR, what part of Portland are you in? I’m in NPDX just above Swan Island and it has been pretty dull over here with 30 sec. “sun breaks” every now and then.:billcat:

Happy real beginning of summer to all.
Hey Wanwenxia, Gypsy is up by you and I used to live at Lombard and Newell in St. Johns.
Yeah. That gingerbread house off of Lombard.
And Nicki is in the area too. BTW Nicki, I just found Pebbles Vol 1 at my neighborhood record store(and they do have records) I haven’t heard this in SO long!Man, I love this shit!
Yeah, it is kind of a gingerbread house isn’t it. Too bad such an asshole lives there!:fu:
Ape Canyon, I drove around in that area when I went up to St. Helens to see it blow its top. It didn’t of course and it was such a media circus I regretted going at all. But I didn’t want to leave knowing that I would see it blow out my rear view mirror.:omg:
You still have the address. Pehaps you could expand his mailbox.:omg:
:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
Just a lively little nest of seditionists.
I have not found any Pebbles. I’d love to hear the NW volume, and the surf music. Little Steven never mentions this series. I wonder if it is contractual.
FK,the drive to my sister’s in Tulsa seemed to take forever even though in OK the speed limit is 75! We then went to visit both of my grandparents gravesites on the way to the wedding and it was a day that put the wind in windy! But, it brought back some fond memories of visiting my grandparents as a child. It was a Catholic wedding in Stillwater. Lots of standing and sitting. No one talked politics except I did tell my neice who is a senior next year at OSU that if she had graduated this year I would have been out with the protesters (protesting Bush, commencement speaker). All in all it went fairly well for not seeing everyone in so long. Only stayed two nights.
I think most people are so busy with their lives that they just pay cursory attention to politics. Hence President Bush.
I did watch the video of Jim Maceda on the msnbc website regarding the CBS crew. Do you think B and B thinks he is Mr FK, or did Mr do another report?
Send 2 stamps for a free catalog which includes all the other volumes of Pebbles(and there are a LOT) plus hundreds of other cool records.
PO Box 7112, Burbank, Ca 91510
Maybe Marc or Jim can pick up a copy.
Yeah, i thought about expanding his mailbox. I always want to take revenge til it comes to actually doing it, then I get lazy.
The sun is shining (on apr canyon)! Seriously, folk. I have to go buy a lawn mower, because some low-lifer stole mine.:fu:
How hard is that to do?
It’s not about being hard, it’s just that I realize I don’t want to expend valueable energy on revenge.Although if I’m in a particularly ornery mood i may have a bunch of kinky porn stuff sent to him.
Little Steven always talks about Greg Shaw. He pushes the Nuggets series. The first nuggets album reminds me of an old psychedelic album my sister had.
That’s true. I’d hate for someone to jam my mailbox with junk.
I think the Pebbles series is a bit more underground. I lived with someone who had a lot of those singles that are in those comps. Hard to find because most were all distributed locally.
it’s a little late, but hey, it’s a long weekend!
Body: you got time. sorry that Friday’s show took so much time to upload, but its on the page now. so enjoy on your day off…..if you are so lucky.
enjoy Sheeple!!!

American military deaths in Iraq 2,464
American military wounded in Iraq 17,648
Journalists killed in Iraq 96
Pj – ARE YOU THERE YET?
evidently dozier and her crew got out to do their stand-up in a relatively “safe” area of Baghdad when the driver/suicidebomber drove in to them. Dozier has a good reputation among the military, I’m told. One theory is that when doing a stand-up the correspondent faces the camaraman and soundman (or woman) so perhaps Dozier saw it coming and was able to move as she was yelling…just a theory, mind you. Shrapnel is the big issue for her, evidently. I “report” on the reporter since that’s where my worry is, but the soldiers face this crap every day. “My” reporter would want the report to be on others, I’m sure.
The report is Baghdad is no different than last summer. People have to wait in huge lines at the gas stations and there’s more… oh my…was a bad day over there, wasn’t it?
I just bought a brand new lawn mower. Assembled it. Addes the oil and fuel. It won’t start. Not even a promise. Does anybody what might be going on?
sometimes there’s a dead-man’s switch that can be on preventing the motor from starting, or spark plug wire….
I’ll check. It said nothing about it in the manual. I’m not crafty, though.

Israeli Rabbis Nix Diaspora Conversion, Divorce
By FORWARD STAFF AND WIRE SERVICES
May 26, 2006
JERUSALEM — Israel’s government-sponsored rabbinic courts have been ordered by the Chief Rabbinate to stop recognizing conversions and divorces performed by most Orthodox rabbis in the Diaspora, escalating the longstanding “Who Is a Jew” conflict to a new and previously unforeseen level.
The new rule means that persons who underwent an Orthodox conversion abroad will have to be converted again in Israel in order to be recognized as Jews by Israeli rabbinic courts. Jewish women who received an Orthodox divorce overseas and wish to remarry in Israel will have to ask their ex-husbands for another divorce certificate, known in Hebrew as a get, if the first one was approved by Orthodox rabbis not recognized by the Israeli rabbinate.
Diaspora rabbis must be examined by a special tribunal appointed by the Chief Rabbinate for their conversions and divorces to be recognized. Recognition of divorces additionally requires that the Diaspora rabbi attend a brief training program to learn Israeli standards.

Lawmaker, Aipac Feud After Fight Over Hamas Bill
By forward staff
May 26, 2006
UPDATE: After press time, sources told the Forward that Rep. Betty McCollum, a Minnesota Democrat, and Howard Kohr, executive director of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, held a meeting Wednesday night that was brokered by Rep. Gary Ackerman, a New York Democrat. McCollum was said to have agreed to work with Aipac to resolve her current conflict with the organization, in light of the good relationship she has had with the pro-Israel lobby in the past. It is not clear yet whether the congresswoman still insists on a formal, written apology — her office was not available for comment Wednesday — but according to sources familiar with her conversation with Kohr, she is willing to seek a way to “move forward.”
WASHINGTON — A bill aimed at isolating the Hamas-led Palestinian government has triggered a major fight between the Jewish community’s main pro-Israel lobby and a member of the House Committee on International Relations.
Rep. Betty McCollum, a Minnesota Democrat, is refusing to meet with representatives of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee until she receives an apology from the lobbying powerhouse.
Taking a break. It’s getting there, though! 🙂
Shrapnel is the big issue for her, evidently.
Comment by Farmerkat — May 29, 2006 @ 7:09 pm
A reporter on CBS tonight said that Dozier’s surgical crew were able to remove the shrapnel from her head. Fortunately, nothing went into the brain. He said that her major injuries were to her lower body, but was not specific beyond that.
You need a gift subscription of the Forward?
The big news to be sure is the attack on the media in Iraq. I wish the best for all involved.
Impeach Bush!
Impale Rumsfeld and Cheney!
:fu:
I got the lawnmower started. I noticed that I did not put the wheels on very well. Fix that problem tomorrow.
Yay!
I don’t need a lawnmower, we have landscapers…I wouldn’t know how to work a lawn mower, let alone put one together.
Are you listening to the Death Metal guy on Janeane’s show. “Israel is our little brother who needs our help.”
Janeane set him straight, though.
Wouldn’t you think a dorm would have a freakin’ elevator? It’s too hot, and I’m too damn old to be carrying shit up the stairs.
But, I’m all moved up, if not quite in. Can I come back home now?
You easterners!:rofl2:
I worked in the landscaping racket a few times.
Michael Nesmith!
Hey PJ, how was the trip? No elevator blows, how many flights is that? 🙁
I knew Michael Nesmith. He said that the Monkees reforming would be the greatest non event in the 20th Century. Trashing the Monkees used to be the chic thing to do.
Hey, it’s more than being an Easterner, I’m an urban kid, apartment dweller my whole life. Although at least here in Westchester I get to SEE lawnmowers…
SPLC is a liberal racket, Janeane.
Oh!
Michael Nesmith’s mother invited Wite Out! No, I’ll never trash the Monkees. They were my first favorite band when I was a kid and I never outgrew them. They have a great sound, and toward the end, they were making a move twoard originality/having control of their own career.
How are you with horse-drawn carriages?
landscaping racket and liberal racket :omg: What’s a liberal racket anyway? I guess I should listen to the show, huh
Liquid Paper.
The trip was OK. Had a good half hour plus sitting and waiting south of Harrisburg for an accident to get cleared, and lots of traffic heading into DC (everybody coming back from the holiday. It’s only three flights, but at 90 degrees and 99% humidity, carrying all this shit upstairs was a real pain. I guess I’d better go check out the shower facilities.
I can ride a bicycle and drive a car.
Yeah, it’s hot and humid on the east coast today. Well go an relax, PJ!
Can you ride a horse? You can’t get to Ape Canyon by car–or bicycle.
I can ride a horse if there’s a good reason to. Looks like this is a good reason.
A liberal racket can be an organization that has a good PR rap that they are really making progress toward good, but actually do little more than rearrange the deck chairs on the Titantic. They take in lots of money from liberals and progressives. Sane/Fleece, from the early 1990s, is one example. The Southern Poverty Law Center is another.
You know it, baby! Bring your hairy ape repellant, though.
Really, the Southern Poverty Law Center also? That’s sad. I heard so many good things about them. Oh well
They are not evil. But a lot of their focus is on raising money. They do not do any of the hard work around organizing people.
I never go anywhere without my hairy ape repellant. And anything else I might need. Sheesh, what do you take me for? Always prepared, that’s the Grrrrl Scout motto 😉
The weather is nice on the west coast. At least in the NW, Willamette Valley.
I guess if an organization spends most of their time begging for money there’s a chance they’re not using their time for enough other things.
It was a little too warm here today. It was in the high 80’s…the norm is more like low to mid 70ish. I like that better, too.
Man! Sounds like the midwest and east has some pretty hot weather. We’ve had it pretty damn nice all weekend. I turned off the swamp cooler a little earlier.
Raising money is not necessarily bad. You have to look at the cause. I’ll post more on SPLC tomorrow. Hey. Liberal rackets can be transformed. They are not evil, either.
:rofl2: So there are ads running here in Phoenix now, they’re hiring new border guards and the commercial makes it look exciting and adventurous like the army. One guy’s wearing a cowboy hat! :rofl2:
I have to go now. People to meet; things to do.:omg:
swamp cooler…yeah it’s good when you can save money by turning those off… I have mine at a very low setting tonight. Do you actually live near a swamp?
Swamps are pretty cheap to run. They packaged the swamps in Floridas’ Alligator Ally for really cheap because they used the land for development. The swamp pads cost nothing!
Bye Nicki…
That’s good…now all you need to do is find a way to get rid of the mosquitos (those are a horror to me, they attack me like there’s no tomorrow)
PJ- glad you made it OK…hope the a/c there is good…dorms suck…we always stay in one when we go to the origami convention in NYC in June.
The stairs will be good for you, but it seems like the whole place should be air conditioned, doesnt it? Is it an old building?
I saw Will and did alot of cleaning today.
Will is still doing well, and is almost his old self.
I hope to have the doctors tell me somehting tomorrow…holidays are so frustrating!
…especially when Bushco gets to parade around like the king of the world as our people are getting blown up….
Good luck with Will, Melina. I don’t mind taking the stairs, but carrying all my shit up from the car was a pain. There’s a chilled water fan coil unit in the room, which seems to work OK, but is quite noisy.
I’m not used to sleeping in a crappy little twin bed – especially alone. I’m trying really hard not to be too depressed here (especially since I know things are much tougher for an awful lot of people), but for tonight at least, I’m having limited success.
well, if it makes you feel any better, Will is in a very hard crappy bed with a hard pillow…(until I brought him stuff form home and some soft throws from Bed Bath and beyond…the second night the nurse who was changing his room and assured me that she would finish got distracted and he ended up sleeping on rubber with only a soft throw and a small pillow from home. They were sorry and all but it was pretty bad….so, he feels your pain for sure.
Linens and things has a great sale on a twin air matteress. Im thinking of getting one for Ben…. because he is sleeping on a doubled over swedish foam topper left over form my old bed….in any case it maybe worth it to go and get yourself either an air mattress or a swedish foam topper. It can make all the difference.
Did you sort out the TV in the PC thing? I have a PC TV card in my desktop but the cable has to screw into it…its great.
hang in there…it’ll be a great adventure in so many ways once you get through the first few nights and feel more comfortable.
If worse comes to worst Ill figure out how to send the files from that for whatever you want…I expect that you are thinking of the Sopranos finale…AOL instant messenger has such a good little transfer file thing.
I need to find out about file compression anyway…
Once I get access to my page again this week Ill be able to use that too as a platform…hopefully…
…and as someone who has been sleeping alone for the past…oh…6 months or so since I broke up with my last boyfriend….well, its pretty great once you have a comfy bed…a couple of warm dogs helps too…but, its not the worst thing to not have someone snoring in your ear! (as the snoree…as opposed to the snorer…)
nite all!…hope for a show of all funny clips…
I wonder what theyll do.
I had to send back the USB adapter, since it appears to be a bad unit. I wound up buying an LCD TV (glad I didn’t have to carry a regualr TV up the stairs), so I have that, at least. No HBO, I’m afraid. It appears I can’t connect to my home ReplayTV, and my VPN isn’t connecting either. I dunno why, but I guess I have a couple months to figure it out. I was gonna bring an air mattress, but I forgot it. Hopefully tomorrow after work I can get my bearings in terms of grocery stores and stuff. I dunno – I can’t sit and rot in this room, so I’ll have to get off my ass and do something. My bag of BJ’s party mix isn’t gonna cut it much longer. I just hope I can get some sleep tonight. Gotta hit the parking office at 7:30, ‘cuz they’ll be closed by the time I get back (and I don’t want them to tow me).
Well, good luck in DC PJ. You’ll have to do some kind of Politician Watch sort of thing and try to get photos of politicians you see in your daily life. Maybe you can catch one lying! :rofl2:
I can send you the sopranos on VHS…do you have a VCR?
Krugman is up on RIPCoco …snd its a really good one!
Glad to hear you made it there safely PJ.:knit:
Melina also happy Will is improving. Hope he comes home soon.

I was curious about how many US Marines there are on active duty. Here is something I got from the CFR:
How many Marines are there?
There are currently about 178,000. While the Army dropped steeply in size in the 1990s, the number of Marines has remained relatively stable. However, the Corps’ commitments have increased. “The Marines are straining, given all of the obligations they have,” says retired Marine Corps General Bernard E. Trainor, an adjunct senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations.
