I haven’t had a chance to see what’s going on in the news, so I hope y’all are paying attention for me. I forgot what it was like to have to get up and go to work every morning. Kinda sucks. Have a good day, y’all.

:omg: Number one!!! :omg:
Mornin’ everybody. Had a medical helicopter crash here in DC last night. The patient wound up dying (he wasn’t in very god shape to begin with). Also had a plane land at Dulles w/ its nose gear up.
OK, that’s your DC morning dispatch.
Well, Webtrends is one of the best, but it’s very, very expensive. Statcounter is free (but is limited to the last 100 page loads). You went with bluehost, right? They include the logs and stats, so I’d see how their reports are; you may find they do everything you need.
good morning…thank you PJ. I feel like there’s a conspiracy this morning to keep me from listening to Air America. The AA stream is “not available,” and the Majority Report website is “forbidden” for some bizarre reason (where I get the other stream). I have a tinny radio that barely gets WLIB (the New York affiliate) and I’m listening, barely, but getting annoying beeping noises in the background đ yes, those noises woke me up alright đ Do you think they want me to switch to Air America premium? Is that why they’re doing this to me????
I tried KTLK and Stephanie Miller’s on. I was hoping for Mark Riley and Rachel Maddow. Stephanie’s ok for a few minutes but then SHE sounds like beeping noises in the background.
Ok, enough, I’ll get my news elsewhere this morning đ
Am I the only one who doesn’t give a shit that today is Katie freakin’ Couric’s last day on the Today Show?
no…I’ll get over it rather quickly when she’s gone…

Investigation
Files Contradict Account of Raid in Iraq
By ERIC SCHMITT and DAVID S. CLOUD
WASHINGTON, May 30 â A military investigator uncovered evidence in February and March that contradicted repeated claims by marines that Iraqi civilians killed in Haditha last November were victims of a roadside bomb, according to a senior military official in Iraq.
Among the pieces of evidence that conflicted with the marines’ story were death certificates that showed all the Iraqi victims had gunshot wounds, mostly to the head and chest, the official said.

Perhaps she can give Matt Lauer a colonostomy to celebrate her departure.
Or maybe give one to Bush, to explore for signs of brain activity.
:spank::spank::spank:
BTW, despite Riley’s claim a few minutes ago, not everyone in Florida is pushing Jeb for president or NFL commissioner. I wouldn’t vote for him for dogcatcher. I like dogs.

So long, and have a good day everybody.

LOL, good morning Fred
I thought she’d ALREADy had her last day
i do hope she kicks ass in her new job; it shouldn’t be such a boys’ club on the M$M network news.
so if i don’t like football (hypothetically) I’d want jeb as the commish. makes sense to me!
oh, morning.
susan, you can try to stream this radio station:

Got it! Thanks Farmerkat. I hate football also but I don’t want Jeb to have a high-profile, high-paying job. Is it too much to ask to see at least one Bushie know what the the unemployment line or (to be more generous) the an average Joe job is? No, I guess not. They’re royalty, after all.
AAAARRRRRGGGGGG need :joe::joe::joe::joe::omg:

So if you don’t desire being a stock broker what do you major in in college these days where you can expect to get a job at more than $20 an hour after you graduate ??
That’s rough. It’s always been somewhat hard to start a career when you’re older than “fresh out of college,” but now it seems like a lot of likely opportunities have gone away. It figures that they’d be in areas that really contribute to society, such as education. I feel for this woman (educational research sounds interesting; I’d thought about it myself at one point).
Maybe I’m off base but it seems like it’s corporate jobs (or high paying physical jobs like construction) or fight to stay alive.
I wish Rachel would interview people who speak English.. I have to turn all my attention to what this guest is talking about to understand him.
:omg: guest what guest.. there was a guest .. I think.. maybe.. need more :joe::joe::joe: :omg:
The American 9 point plan to success..
1. Be born with a silver spoon in you mouth
2. Grow up being the school bully
3. Have daddy buy you a degree in an IVY League school
4. Have daddy buy you a degree in an IVY League business school.
5. Open your own fraudulent corporation
6. Lye about your corporations profitability
7. Sell all your stock
8. Declare bankruptcy .. screwing your employees.
9 . Move to the Cayman islands..
I didn’t understand it either…coffee won’t cure me. Ok, where are we now? Henry Paulson is a conservationalist and he’s head of the treasury? There must be something we’re missing, like yes, he was part of an environmental group but he’s crooked in some way. Oh, how did I get so cynical, how, how?
There’s another way. Some people do succeed by “working their way up” and hard work, but it’s because they have a natural propensity for fields that are monetarily rewarded, such as corporate type jobs. They are talented in ways that many of us are not (I’m not even going to mention that you also have to be a little slimy and greedy, no not me). Creative people and givers – people who want to help other people through their work- are not rewarded in this society. That, right there, tells you there is something deep in the gut of our system that is just plain WRONG
That’s what I was wondering too .. what in Paulson’s background makes him a felon so he can be part of the Bush administration.. Aww yes…. the economy is going down the tubes so he is the sacrifice.
Most of the people I have known who came up though the ranks ended up being paid less than a new hire with a degree or a more advanced degree. Usually the reason for slow salary advancement was that they didn’t have a degree.. They then go to school at night and get a degree and then get laid off and can’t find a job because their degree makes them demand to high a salary for the jobs available.
Yeah…that “too high salary” catch 22…you’re damned if you do and if you don’t…

Please please please please …
Please please please please please please please please bring back MS. It’s a freakin MORNING show, people. The only way Air America can compete with an AM morning show is to be, um, interesting. MS finally got there, and it’s great. Hartmann is dull, only talks national, and gives malloy a run for his money on tedious dead air, irrelevant remarks, and humorless attempts at wit. What’s saddest is I’m so not suprised that this choice was made in Portland. MS was the shot in the ass Portland progressives needed. Hartmann is just a limp lefty with no style or flair.
I didn’t know the show was jettisoned in Portland. How sad. I miss that show so much. I’m going to miss WLIB before much longer too đ
>Why didn’t Larson or somebody contact us and inform what the situation was? Instead they let us rant in the dark.
Sadly, in these situations, we’ve been finding out what the situation is from YOU. Sorry you’re feeling in the dark. So are we.
>Perhaps it was entertaining to them.
Nope. It was very touching, actually.
>;I think they are telling us to cool it. Management pressure is being applied to them to get the Portland rabble to back off.
No such thing. I would love nothing more than to have the entire city of Portland rise up as one and demand Sedition’s return. But as far as trying to go on-air and generate a campaign goes, I believe local stations view the response with skepticism precisely because they’ve been whipped up by hosts with a vested interest. Make sense?

I have listened to the Hartmann show and it is not too bad. It just isn’t very “wake me up and cheer me up”. I find it really hard to believe that it will have better ratings than MS.
Morning Drive is about as competitive as they come. Other shows are promoted on TV.
I think that if we keep on the pressure that they might consider moving Hartmann to another time slot after several ratings periods.

It’s not a good morning show. Morning shows shouldn’t be dry, first of all. Straight politics is not going to cut it. It needs to have humor and to have somebody dynamic to wake people up.
Enough of the “Blast from the Past” for this morning. Tyger Thom replaced Morning Sedition from 6-9 on KPOJ. That’s why many here don’t like him.
That’s understandable. I don’t think people around here hate Mark Riley or Rachel Maddow for replacing MS, but I don’t think Mark Riley is popular with Seditionists because he’s just not the same alone as he was with Marc.
Riley was the backbone to Morning Sedition. His new show comes on a little too early for me to catch a lot of it. It is much better than that godamn exercize in apologetics called Morning Edition.
He’s ok as far as material goes, but alone he sounds bland. I can’t explain it. Just somewhat monotone and forced. He was never bland in combo with Marc – they were so perfect together đ It was just an issue of chemistry. Marc isn’t the same without Mark either, but he’s strong enough to still be interesting because he’s so freakin talented and amazing
Oh. Just one more blast. We went off because we thought that Maron was making fun of our efforts to block KPOJ’s efforts to bring in Hartmann.
I think they’re getting flack of their own. I emailed Larsen right off the bat and never heard back. They might be trying to figure things out for themselves and don’t really have time to deal with it on a station-by-station basis.
I didn’t think Maron was poking fun. In fact, he sounded like he was holding back his temper. They may not be allowed to be overtly part of any organizing effort on their behalf.
Riley does good interviews. He works well with News Daddy. He can analyze a political situation. He is a good radio person.
I’m sure Marc was caught in a strange situation where he didn’t exactly know how to react publiclly and say the “expected” things, and that’s probably why he sounded that way. He was never good at saying the “correct” things when he was pissed off or saying it in the right way. that’s why he could have come off that way.
You’er crack about bombings in Palestine was not funny, Springer.
Yeah, so Mark is astute and good with interviews. The point, though, is he needs somebody to bounce off of. They really should get him somebody permanently in this role.
“Nice try, Portland.”:omg::rofl2:
What did he say? I must have missed it
ohh… đ
Israel “accidently” bombed the Gaza after Palestinian rockets “accidently” fired on Israeli settlements.
:fu:
I don’t think the KTLK show is nearly as funny as Morning Sedition.
Reading about Israel and Palestine makes me want to drink lots of booze and do lots of drugs :40::bong:
1480 KPHX is a decent stream and they have someone manning the board. All AAR programming is live and instead of Springer, it’s Dr. Mike Newcomb. His ultra sappy patriotism and hippy talk of Love kind of made me a little queasy at first but he is so over the top with it I think its kind of funny now. I like him!
http://aaphx.com/
What political show is as funny as Morning Sedition was, though? I’ve never heard anything so funny, I’m serious!
Riley sucks.. he’s to far to the center and tries to be a realist when he really doesn’t know what in the H* he is talking about.. Hartman is just the opposite he’s on the left but says things that might be his opinion but again he doesn’t know what in the H* he is talking about. Neither are proactive and both are surrender monkeys.
I met some people who know Dr. Newcombe as a candidate for office in the Phoenix area.
Ooooh, another stream for me to play with. Thanks, Krista
Good morning….Kat, did you see this?
It so pisses me off!! This guy calls the embeds “appallingly soft”…back in ’03….was David Bloom soft? Kimberly? all the unnamed foreign correspondents who have been maimed or died?…these guys planned every moment of their embed experience. I cant imagine why anyone would say anything like that when these reporters are risking their lives to get a story that they are not even able to tell most of the time! Evem Chris Matthews is saying how we are not getting many real views of this war as opposed to something like viet nam…and the technology is definitley there…
did our overseas seditionists see this: (so far the no new taxes statement by the busheviks has produced tax increases for ex-pats and college students)
********
really, you think so NR? I’ve always thought that was his weakest spot! I can’t remember him ever actually reading a book whose author he interviewed, whether on MS or on his own show. It always kind of ticked me off. I think Marc is a terrific interviewer.
disclaimer: I haven’t listened to Mark in months….it’s just not my cup of tea. thought he was strongest as a co-host.
At least Riley is not a conspiracy theorist crackpot like Tyger Thom.
Suz- if youve got a problem with majority report or marc from last nite I can always edit and transfer to you.
Ihavent even looked but Im sure Ive got em. My system has been pretty great lately.
Im even going to cancel XM as my backup
Yes, I do.
Sometimes Marc seems to read news thing in a rote manner. You know, we could trash anybody. For some reason, Maron is treated like a saint. He is PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Melina…I might take you up on the Marc show, thanks :). I haven’t been able to stay up for the show lately.
More blast:
Hey. Did we just get mocked by Maron on the radio for our efforts to bring his show back to drive time. “It is beyond our control.” (But who cares. I’m on the air no matter what.) Then he read an email from a Portlander who is glad to get MS on at 3am. I guess he is telling us that he could cares less about our organizing efforts. Has anyone noticed that their have been no posts by MS moderators since the discussion has got heavy? What the f_ck is going on?
Are you listening to this stupid zionist running his mouth on Springer. (Reasonably good response,, Springer.)
hi melina, here’s to Will staying strong and getting his walking papers on Thursday! :gate:
Yep, I sent it to hubby who read it to the Baghdad bureau and I guess there were some pretty angry reviews! mr fk was in the first gulf war and at the start of this one, he was embedded with Special Forces (first time someone had been allowed to do that!) and they acted as bait to distract the “enemy” trying to get them to fire on THEM and not the troops…yep, soft, don’t ya think? Those neo-con ass-holes. (he was with chicken noodle news then.)
Shutup you ******** caller on Springer.:omg:
Wow, I feel like I’m missing so much by not hearing his show lately… đź
Good Bye!
i don’t listen to tyger tom either – puts me to sleep…. i just never could stand riley’s interviewing skills on or off MS – even no comparisons to anyone else. he always puctuates with, Um HUH – just not my cup of :joe: wish him well, though. i appreciate when the interviewer actually reads what the guest wrote. makes for a more interesting listen. :ear:
gotta go try and wash the donkey. she’s disgusting and the vet has to come out today – she’s lame in the rear legs…
Ciao!
I don’t know what one is supposed to gain from having people from the Reich on your radio program.. They usually just repeat the same talking points that one can hear from Limpprick and make no sense and the host doesn’t show you how to win the argument, you just are more apt to shoot your computer/radio than the real Reich winger.
bye bye Katie….Im happy to see her go. Having Merideth, who is an outspoken liberal, take over is a great coup for NBC….
Is Katie still dating the Neocon beer distributer?
I hope that this change signals a switch towards a more liberal voice from the press…at least in daytime.
And Rosie O’Donnell will be joining the unwatchable View…I believe that Star Jones is leaving?…but who really should go is Elizabeth Survivor Hasselblad Republican Operative and dumb-ass.
I dont know if the evening news means much anymore, but I guess it all depends on how things play in middle America…?
And doesnt daytime TV speak to alot of the unemployed poor people in this country?
Anyway, Im not shedding a tear.
I think that Meredith will be great fun, and the only reason I even ever look is that Imus is on MSNBC till 9AM and I cant bear him most of the time!
have a good day, Farmerkat…
I usually like Al Franken but I was upset with him yesterday for having on Peter Beinart :fu: He’s a fake dem if I ever saw one. I get sick of hearing about the New Republic….it tends to be very pro war.
Ha, Kat, Im always tryign to wash the animals when its vet time…and I think everyone is due! Lola had a fully engorged deer tick on her underarm this morning in my bed…oh well, hopefully the anti lyme deer tick system that Ive been heavily investing in these past few years has worked and 90% of my ticks dont have Lyme….its supposed ot be that way, but Ive hardly seen a tick this year anyway!
In the middle of the night last night 2 of the dogs had a fight on top of me and Lola somehow managed to bite my hand…it was an accident, but I didnt realize till I was in the bathroom in the dark that it was all bloody and she had slashed the knuckle….what a drag. Looka like certain dogs will have to start sleeping in their crates again…
At least this set of birds is pretty gentle…no big bites yet. They are the sweetest….so far….
Al has a problem with laughing at things that are not very funny.. He will laugh about a lie from FAUX news where they were destroying a democrat. I would be yelling four letter words at my TV..
Al’s philosophy I think is to not let them see when he’s upset, thus the jokes. I agree that he’s not always funny, but he’s always sharp.
I’m the one who criticized Riley in the old days of this blog for being lazy, which maybe sounded like a racial slur (as Mom said later) but it was meant as an actual criticism about his style…where Rachel and Marc were up in the middle of the night preparing, the joke was that Riley would glide in an hour or so before showtime and just wing it.
I think that when he got his own show and didnt have Marc to rely on anymore for facts and figures, it became more glaring. When he had the walmart movie guy on (who had been on with them a few times already) and he didnt have any of the most basic figures abotu how many people walmart employs etc…I just had it.
Then Riley goes and attacks Kevin (was it you Kev?) via email that he was the one who had called him Lazy!
….I just cant listen to Riley…and only try to catch Al on Friday at 2 when Conasin is on….
Al has slid more to center, and though he is smart and has certainly done the work, I just cant stand alot of his affectation and I miss katherine.. He needs a better co-host than his booth guy. Pashman would be perfect with him…but he owuld have to move out there!
I think that they should give Pashman and Brendan a show.
KK posted the kink yesterday or so to the shows that they did when Marc and mark were on vacation last year…and that was during Katrina, right?…those were fantastic shows and they were SO good. I cant believe that now that Danny is gone that no one has approached either of them to become on air talent.
What turned me off to Franken was his reaction to the 2004 election when he refused to talk about the possibility that the election was stolen. I looked at most of what Conyers wrote about it and if I lived in Ohio I would be promoting throwing bricks at the rethugs in power.
I miss Katherine somewhat, but I think Al is okay without her too…as long as he has guests on, and he does, there’s enough interaction on the show to make up for it. I just wish he had less centrists like Beinart, etc. But maybe that’s the way the wind is blowing with the candidates, and Al is going to be running for office soon, don’t forget.
And Kat- I hope that you tell Mr FK that he and his co-workers should know that (even though we are a liberal fringe group) that there is no one who is not in that insulated world of neocons that believes what that asshole has to say.
One thing about the loss of David Bloom was that the country got to see what goes into the embed and war reporting thing, and how intense the preparation is for it. I know that David was an especially excited and zealous example, but the fact that the Today show went crazy with everyone talking about how well he prepared and seriously he took it all made it clear to the entire country how involved it is…and that someone like David who was in great shape could die of being in a tank for a week…well, obviously, no one “soft” is out there for christ sakes…except the FUX news balcony reporters and the ones who escort the Lieberman’s of this war.
War reporters have always been my heros, and my Mom, as an artist and photographer, had clipping of viet nam photos taped up all over the house when I was young.
This is worse because we are so much more hated by everyone…
But if those damned insurgents think that hurting more reporters will get them more press here, they should have a look at how quickly we go back to the 1 year anniversary of Natalie Halloway!
AAR in general is moving to the center. They probably don’t reach a lot of working people with their day time programming and the dems who are lying around the pool waiting for their dividend checks are nervous about what the stock market’s reaction would be to a call for revolt or a bunch of people in the streets throwing rocks at the cops..
Some people would have one believe that some of the violence in IRAQ is not caused by Iraqi’s but by Bushco through the CIA just to keep things riled up and to keep the press off the streets so they don’t report the truth.. The Iraqi’s have no other way to tell the US to GO HOME than to make things such that they don’t feel welcome.
The politician has a problem these days in that they have to raise so much money to run for office. The majority of Americans are close to living in tin shanties on the outskirts of the city’s like you find in Brazil and they are to busy surviving to see the situation politically so the candidate doesn’t even talk to them. They are talking to the dems in the investor class and the corporations so you wouldn’t expect them to be very far to the left. In previous times we just had more compassionate rich people and corporations so we just though we the people were the government. As Nicki has pointed out that never was the case.
Some of the AAR staff who subbed for people on vacation certainly would make better talk hosts than some one like Hackett.
Oh man. Dr. Mike just played a clip of some soldiers gleefully killing a helpless Iraqi in the street. Not sure of the context of the situation but even if the guy was a terrorist the gleeful part was very disturbing. đ„
The problem with ticked off people blowing you up is that there is no way to stop them though the use of force. Unless you can kill off the 20% of the people who are ticked off at you..in which case you probably got another 30% of those left ticked off at you. The army is beginning to get the idea that genocide is the only way they will win.. They need to be withdrawn and put in mental hospitals along with their supporting politicians before some one like Russia and/or China comes to the aid of the Iraqi’s.
who can forget that Al is gonna run for office? Thats the whole rub there…I feel like its a 3 hour campaign commercial.
I put Dowd up on RIPCoco…very goood today and along the lines of the BUsh Administration’s top picks disparaging the embeds and press in Iraq (and here too…)
Krista- these kids are not gonna be gleeful in their nightmares for the rest of their lives. These kids are victims of the command structure of this war…we’ll hear the “few bad apples” thing over and over but Rumsfeld still has his job…he gleefully stood on TV and said “Freedom is Messy” as looters ran out of the national museum behind him holding ancient artifacts!….
The soldiers kill a family who likely knew a bomb had been planted in the street outside of their house, but if they saw the bomb being set and they told then the insurgents would kill them. This place has not been made safe for freedom or peace or anything…and the kids who are fighting there for years and years are in a world that we couldnt imagine. I suppose that there are many bad apples (low hanging fruit to quote Mahr) but if there was any sort of command from the top on down and any glimpse of us following the supposed worldwide laws of war….well, I dont think that anyone is getting out of this situation easy….
Fred re # 82- I dont think that anything could possibly be that organized in this government at all….The whole thing has been done in a way to insure that they would hate us, even as the admin insisted that they would greet us with flowers. If we had kept their army together, kept the electric grid and immediately upgraded it, and brough in all sorts of supplies…even sent enough troops to enforce order, then they would like us….We dont need fake insurgents from the FBI to ensure this reaction…just business as usual from Bushco brings this out in people….
So after the dems take over they find that the reason for the war in IRAQ was gross incompetence then no one in the Bush admin can be held criminally responsible ??. The same can also be said for corporations fleeing to China and India. Capitalism and Republicanism both seem intertwined and at the moment I would prefer to have them both be terminated.:gate::omg::jason:
I just love these BuzzFlash headlines
Al Gore has made his sharpest attack yet on the George Bush presidency, describing the current US administration as “a renegade band of rightwing extremists”. As a BuzzFlash Reader Noted, “I don’t care if Gore doesn’t run, just as long as he keeps talking!”
COLORADO SPRINGS â Anti-war activists gathered at the north gate of the Air Force Academy today as hundreds of families passed by to hear Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld speak at graduation.

Finally awake!I was sleepy during the show last night, but I thought I heard Marc say Mr FK would be on tonight.
Re earlier posts: KPOJ was responsive when they tried to put Malloy in the 7-10 pm MR spot. THAT lasted a very short time. When they introduced TH in the 6-9am slot their “positive” spin was that we would get MS in real time.
Also I am unable to get on the AAR site

I was ahving problems with Marc’s blog earlier.

Malloy was on in realtime on KPOJ when he first came to the network The Majority Report was pushed back to 10-1–six houra delay. KPOJ changed TMR back to 7-10 because so many people called in and demanded they do so. As for Tyger Thom, listeners were told that Portlanders requested that the station bring in Hartmann. (I have some of the promos.) There was a a lively discussion as this was occurring on the old Oregon Blog. We had a pretty good sense of what was going on.
Anyway, KPOJ did compromise with us; although Morning Sedition did get pushed back to 3-6am–and yes, the station did spin it that there werenoe no delays–there were reruns of the Sedition show on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Hey Sean :fire:
So, you came out alive from The Redneck Convention? đź
I’d say you got a solid B cup goin’ there Sean! You can fight it and diet or you can turn into the skid and become a mighty fine cross dresser!

Iranian drone plane buzzes U.S. aircraft carrier in Persian Gulf
19:06 | 30/05/2006
TEHRAN, May 30 (RIA Novosti) – A pilotless Iranian reconnaissance plane circled for 25 minutes over a U.S. aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf before returning safely to its base, a senior Iranian official said Tuesday.
“Our pilotless reconnaissance plane flew over the USS Ronald Reagan in the Persian Gulf unnoticed to the Americans for 25 minutes,” the official said, according to Iran’s Fars agency.
He did not say when the flight took place, but added that U.S. radars picked up the unmanned aerial vehicle after 25 minutes, and that four USAF fighters and two helicopters were scrambled to intercept it. However, the Iranian plane had already crossed the border back into Iran and landed at its base.
“This points to holes in the U.S. military reconnaissance systems deployed in the Persian Gulf,” the Iranian official said.

PJ- I love the stat counter!
Then Riley goes and attacks Kevin (was it you Kev?) via email that he was the one who had called him Lazy!

I don’t think it was actually me who called him lazy, since I generally don’t get to listen to enough of Riley’s show to have much of an opinion one way or the other. Usually I get to work around 6:40, and it’s not really fair for me to judge an entire show on just 20 minutes.
Maybe someone else reading the blog misread a post and thought that I said it. It’s so long ago that I don’t remember what the circumstances were at the time.
I do remember posting something around the time that AAR pulled the plug on MS stating that I appreciated all that I had learned over the course of that show from listening to Riley, and I agree with the general consensus here that he and Maron captured something together that is mostly absent from their individual shows. But I get the feeling that either of them would tell you the same thing.
For what it’s worth, I would not be enjoying Paul Motian’s most recent CD had he not been on Riley’s show, so I at least have Mark (or whoever books the show) to thank.
And that picture that Sean posted is WAAAAAYYY more objectionable than anything I’ve ever posted on a blog ANYWHERE. So there.
:barf:
And it was definitely me who called him Lazy…definitley me…and I’d do it again if I had listened to the show since the first week….
You just copied sometihng I said and commented on it….and I dont think that Riley is enough of a tech guy to realize that part is copied from a previous post…or someone just told him about it.
Anyway, Im sorry that you got implicated in my mess….
Melina, I think it was citizenkahn that emailed riley.
Anyway, Im sorry that you got implicated in my messâŠ.

Not to worry. Your mess is my mess. I’ve been in way worse.
And it sounds like some of it was kahn’s mess anyway. đ
Why do you care what Riley thinks.. ?? You are his customers so he should be working to please you.. If he ticks you off you should tell him so..:rant1::eek::mad::omg:
Is is good to see that Boxer is going to stand up for whats right.. I hope her resolution goes somewhere.
Hey, so much for Global Warming. The temp. in Anchortown is back down to the high 40s.

Isi, thanks for posting that link re: the Zinsmeister. I hope there’s something they can do about it. Then they mentioned Binghamton on the local weather here. Just when I was getting over being homesick! Sean, wipe the dice off with your shirt next time, man. The only time you should eat your puke is when you swallow it back down w/o expelling it. Unless you’re gonna win money on a bet, of course.

Park chief: Nitrogen threatening Rocky Mountain National Park
By Todd Hartman and Jim Erickson, Rocky Mountain News
May 31, 2006
Research has found that nitrogen levels in Rocky Mountain National Park are 15-to-20 times higher than natural background levels and at least twice the level ecosystems can tolerate, the park superintendent reported in a recent letter to state health officials made public today.
Park chief Vaughn Baker calls for a limit on nitrogen deposition, and asks for support from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the Environmental Protection Agency in collaborating to cut emissions of the pollutant along the Front Range.
Reeling in the nitrogen problem would require major cuts in nitrogen emissions from cars, farmland and industry are needed to protect damaged ecosystems in Rocky Mountain National Park, said environmentalists, who released a statement in conjunction with Baker’s letter.

Actually, I hear Katie is a liberal, politically. I just don’t understand the obsession – not just with her, but with the idea of “news” folks as celebrities.
OK, well, who’s got the scoop on what’s on the teevee tonight for a wild and crazy bachelor dude all alone in his “really cool” dorm room?
Hey, uh, I’m not sure what’s on the tube tonight, but somebody told me, once, that he thought of the news personalities as whores. I don’t know if that term jives with you guys, but it sorta makes sense to me.

Anti-War Protests Continue at Port of Olympia
    The Associated Press
    Wednesday 31 May 2006
Olympia – Anti-war protesters gathered Wednesday at the Port of Olympia to demonstrate against a 950-foot military cargo ship bound for Iraq.
Crowds were small early in the day, but were expected to grow amid rumors that the ship was leaving Wednesday evening. Twenty-two people were arrested Tuesday and police pepper-sprayed a handful of protesters who pulled down a port fence.
Activists began protesting at the port more than a week ago after learning that Stryker vehicles and other Army gear from the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, a 4,000-soldier unit stationed at Fort Lewis, were being shipped to Iraq.
The USNS Pomeroy, the largest ship ever to dock in Olympia, arrived Monday night.
Dan Kimball, Thurston County sheriff’s chief criminal deputy, said no one was seriously injured in the demonstration Tuesday night. Twenty people were arrested for trespassing after they tore down a gate at the port entrance and laid down; two others were arrested for failing to disperse and grabbing officers.
Olympia City Councilman TJ Johnson said Wednesday he was shoved by state troopers trying to clear the area the night before. He said people were dispersing, but that pepper spray was shot off anyway.
He said county sheriff’s deputies “chose to escalate the situation.”
Authorities used pepper spray several times, including once when some in the crowd started hurling bottles and rocks at the approximately 70 law enforcement officers on scene, Kimball said

An Indicator of a Larger Battle
On Palestinian Violence
By RAMZY BAROUD
Labeling as ‘dangerous’ the violent escalation in the Gaza Strip between supporters of the Fatah and Hamas movements is an understatement, to say the least. The situation in the Occupied Territories is more perilous than any media account, however decent, can portray. In fact, the once distanced possibility of a Palestinian civil war is forcing its way back to the forefront, not merely as an Israeli fantasy, but a looming, albeit wicked reality.
But to reduce the Gaza turmoil to a few clichĂ©s, the likes of “If Palestinians cannot get along with each other, how should they be expected to get along with Israel”, is either politically naĂŻve or self-serving. Viewing the current crisis outside its wider regional context, it would rightly appear as if the Palestinian clash is simply evidence of an inherently militant culture.
But if Palestinians were inherently militant, then why, under the most extreme, frustrating and intimidating of circumstances, did they manage to defy all odds on March 25, voting in droves and achieving one of the most genuine democratic experiences ever recorded in the history of the Middle East? In a land that is still under the boots of Israeli soldiers, holding democratic elections is most taxing, if not impossible altogether. But Palestinians in the Occupied Territories did it. International monitors seemed more shocked than relieved at the transparency of the voting process.
International media, including a large mass of Arab media celebrated the ‘Palestinian model’ as one to pursue in what was hoped to become a propeller of Arab democratic reforms. But something went horribly wrong: the wrong party, Hamas won the elections in a landslide that left no room for the traditional political elites of the Palestinian society. Lowly refugee camp dwellers claimed a political role that was for decades preserved for the ‘upper crust’, with their gun wielders, entrusted to protect the interests of the aristocracy. . .
well i didnt have a shirt on and i did win a trophy and i dont have to pay to go to the party next year!
:rofl2: Hey, I still have an open invitation, right?
So from your vast knowledge on the Palestinian issue what are we as Americans supposed to do to get Israel to behave itself. The violent overthrow of our government followed by an air strike or two in Israel comes to mind but that probably won’t happen.
Wait..what? Not cool. sorry:doh:
That has to be an extra big secret but if we don’t Putin or HU will.. We just love to see people kill each other ..
Now Travis:spank::spank: From all that Nicki posts that may have leaked out somewhere and I missed it. ( we will keep what it is a secret)
of course travis maybe you can win the trophy next year!
Whew, for a minute I thought I couldn’t get the AA stream again… I have been so pissed off today. But things are going my way again.
Hey Sean, how was the redneck party?
Mmm. Finally cracked open my box-o-wine. “Chillable Red,” rather tasty. And I finally have my parking straightened out, so I can hang out until 8:30 or so. One nice thing, there’s a train every 3 – 5 minutes in the morning (and on the way back home), and it’s an 8 minute trip that takes me a block and a half from where I need to go. Not enough time to listen to my AAR though; I’m getting behind in my M shows (Marc and Mike and Majority).
From what Sean said above about his exploits at the party someone better have taken pictures so Sean can figure out what happened. Sounds like the end of term barnsies we used to have in college.
yeah im still waiting for the pictures of me puking!
ok well im out laters sheeple!
I’m just grateful that digital cameras and camera phones hadn’t been invented back in my school daze. I still have deniability (however implausible).
Six of us rented a four bedroom duplex in college. One of my room mates was like 6 feet six and 310 lbs. We gave him a 16 gallon keg for his 21st birthday and he almost consumed a third of the thing before he fell asleep. One of the guys made him a paper mache birthday cake which we covered with canned frosting.. He ate three of four peaces of that and didn’t discover what he had done until the next morning when he went to the bathroom and couldn’t figure out where the Sunday comics in the toilet came from.. He was just a little ticked off over that.
See ya Sean. Ya get a run to DC, let me know.
Fred. :rofl2:
Big busy cities are much better when they have good mass transit. Chicago is the only big city I have worked in and you leaned the L routes right off the bat and it saved you probably 30 dollars a day in parking fees alone. Denver has excellent mass transit but it takes forever to get any where if you have to change buses or trains or from the bus to a train and visa verse. The state DOT under the democrats would like to build heavy rail commuter transit from Fort Collins to Trinidad but the cost is like 150 billion so i doubt one will see that any time soon and that’s using existing railroad tracks if they can figure out what to do with the 40 coal trains a day that now use them.
ok well i should be gone already but uh i was looking at marcs myspace pictures and uh i think mishna is trying to kill marc!
Yeah, you know what else is cool? Maybe they have this in real cities, but not in Syracuse – the pedestrian crossings have timers, so you know how long you have to get your ass across the street. Makes it easy to decide whether to run for it or wait.
Damn. They shut down the Pirate Bay.
speaking of asses…
spent the day and early evening dealing with my spotted ass. turns out she’s much older than i though – she’s 22 years old and she’s currently 600 lbs – 200 of it fat – she’s on a diet! Seanie would be a slim jim around my Calico! So I’ve got a geriatric goat AND ass. Calico had a compelte work-up. she’ll be sore tomorrow as her teeth were a disaster and they had to float them. Her lameness is mainly “mental” and …oh you all probaly could give a rat’s ……anyway, she’s ok but needs some tlc. Why does tlc mean $$$ when it comes to animals?
what an entertaining blog. wish i could contribute but I’m pooped. hubby did tmms tonight- hope it turned out ok. PJ, your mass transit sounds great! What a painless commute, huh? (well, if you don’t count that your home is in NY.)
this puking thing and the dice is a complete gross-out, I gotta say. Can’t you just get some new dice?
Nighty night!
PS why did it take so long to shut down Pirate Bay if it was so awful? that thing has been around for a long time.
Great stuff on the Majority Report right now! Palast.:omg:
Why is the Democratic Party not up in arms over this election fraud?
:fu:You corrupt tweedle-dum bastards!:fu:
Palast: A large minority of Democratic Party officials benefitted from what Palast calls “the apartheid voting system.”
:fu:
Tweedle Dumb!
Hey FK. Pirate Bay is in Sweden. The Swedish gov’t is much less bought off by special interests like the MPAA and RIAA, so copyright laws are a lot different. Pirate Bay never hosted any copyrighted material, just information on how to get it. Until this, they’d been somewhat untouchable. As well they should be, IMHO; I think it’s a sad day when information is criminalized. We’ve gotten used to it here in the “land of the free,” but I thought other places were more free than we.
Popped in to say hello….
Hello everybody.
Hey Andy. Long time no see.
Hey PJ,
How’s DC and the job? I’ve been feeling kid of overloaded on republican scandal, murder and mayhem so I’ve had the computer off for while and been catching up on all these little maintenance jobs around my house, and watching the Stooges and some Anime on the tube. It’s been surprisingly therapuetic. I really felt like I was going to blow a gasket for while…and I have no health insurance.
Sorry to hear about your health insurance situation. Especially since it’s way too common in this country – and there’s no good reason for it (unless you consider greed a good excuse).
The job is so far kinda boring, but it’s only been a couple of days. So far, there’s been virtually no IT component, and that’s supposed to be what I’m all about. I dunno. Most of the time these days, I’d like to go back to fixing air conditioners and refrigeration units. But then I bitched about that when I was doing it, too.
PJ- nothing much on TV tonight because everythign is over. Rescue me is probably being replayed all over FX…its a great show! The firstone of the season was last night anbd I watched it twice…but then Ive been following it.
I was just messing round with my little videos that I made with my tiny cascio still camera and the editing program that comes with Windows and I made a little movie and posted it on ripcoco…my first film project in years and years….
Give it some time. Things should smooth out once you’ve been there a bit.
Goddamn it, this is an outrage. They should increase funding in DC until August 5th – then they can cut back.
we’ve had horrible health insurance problems and pay for just about everything out o pocket even though CT supposedly has a no child uninsured law and a state insurance program run by Blue Cross…made purposely complicated and impossible so no providers take it. I wrote Michael Moore a pretty compelling story about it when he was fishing round for material for his movie, but I guess he didnt consider us desperate enough.
Imgonna write to the state attorney general because when I went to Shays about it he told me that what I was saying was impossible!….I must have made it up, right????
Hey Melina. I watched Rescue Me last night, on your recommendation. I enjoyed it, and wished I’d been following it. I’ll check out your film project when I get a chance. I have lots-o-time on my hands right about now.
Yeah. On the plus side, I’ve talked to my wife more in the last three days (via cell phone) than I have in the previous six months (in person). Of course, talkin’ aint what I’m all about. :hubba:
Melina, this has always been my argument:
How can we have the finest health care system in the world (according to all the republican’ts) when 46 or so million Americans can’t even see a doctor. The Dr. I saw about tetanus shot I needed a while back wanted me to get some blood work done as well but that would have cost me $600.00 dollars for three simple blood tests! The tetanus shot was about $100.00.
PJ- see if you can rent the first 2 seasons of rescue me…Dennis Leary is fantastically good…and its all engrossing once you know them…maybe you can get it from mininova? Im sure its a torrent out there somewhere.
but if we all had medicare then the government would regulate how much could be charged for those blood tests across the board…because people with medicare and other certain insurances dont pay that…you pay it to make up for the inequity and to ensure the windfall bonus of the CEO of the blood company.
If the CEO of the blood company cant take more money than humanly possible as a bonus every year and the tests cost just a little over what they actually cost with a fair profit margin, then everyone can get the tests …
Is that socialist?
Amen. :fustrate:
I guess that I think that a little regulation is in order here…especially when the state of CT is tooting its own horn as this state that takes care of its kids, when no doctors take the insurance and you cant even get them to approve an out of network dr before youre dead.
Of course, they cover inpatient mental hospitals but not therapy or most medications…just like you can get a tooth pulled but not filled in most cases….
its just sick…
Its the one thing that Hillary was right about, but the educational lawyer that I had last year had worked with them durign that first year of Clinton’s administration and said that she made everything way too complicated and tried to push it through in the wrong way at the wrong time….
It should be very simple….
same insurance for everyone, everyone who can buy in does to the best of their ability and those who cant get it free…and all doctors take it…and fair payments to Dr’s with no CEO making tons of $$….
:banana::rant1::rofl2::banana::rofl2::rant1::banana::love::lol:
Yeah birdies–saw your little movie, Melina, and enjoyed it. thnx
Took on :joe: tonight to see if I can stay awake through the show.
So, FK, tlc is all that’s needed to heal the donkey’s “pyschosomatic” lameness. The dogs and I are sending healing vibes to Calico.
:condi:
…
I think we’re bombing Iran-tonight…
Bombing Iran-all night…
Bombing Iran…that’s exactly what we’ll do
Bombing Iran-alright,
Persians, better take your flight
Can’t you see that we are bombing Iran
…
The problem w/ Hillary’s plan was that there was no way the Republicans were going to allow any plan to be passed. If they had proposed an alternative, and both sides sat down and hammered out a compromise, we’d have universal healthcare in this country that wasn’t perfect, but which we could have tried to improve over the past, what, 12-15 years? Instead, we got shit.
nite all…..I must say that Condi has been heavily on the scene today and she is threatening Iran quite a bit….it really, really worries me.
These people are really war mongers. Im starting to think that I live in the middle of the lord of the rings or something….its just all out bloddy war….
Time to go and have some nightmares….
yeah, but apparently they were very inexperienced in how to deal with the power structure in DC…and if they had waited a bit before giving her a big job it would have gone over better…but she also had all sorts of complicated levels…as far as the lawyer said…
It should be really simple.
Lets hope no one gets bombed tonight….and that none of us need a Dr….I need a spa!
ok well i have more driving to do but uh could someone e-mail me an mp3 of the president talks to god song please thanks a lot seaniesean5@aol.com
If only it really was President Santos. đ„
I don’t how many of us are hardcore gamers besides me but this is an interesting little article:
The hypocrisy never ends.
“When The President Talks To God”
When the president talks to God
Are the conversations brief or long?
Does he ask to rape our womenâs’ rights
And send poor farm kids off to die?
Does God suggest an oil hike
When the president talks to God?
When the president talks to God
Are the consonants all hard or soft?
Is he resolute all down the line?
Is every issue black or white?
Does what God say ever change his mind
When the president talks to God?
When the president talks to God
Does he fake that drawl or merely nod?
Agree which convicts should be killed?
Where prisons should be built and filled?
Which voter fraud must be concealed
When the president talks to God?
When the president talks to God
I wonder which one plays the better cop
We should find some jobs. the ghetto’s broke
No, they’re lazy, George, I say we don’t
Just give ’em more liquor stores and dirty coke
That’s what God recommends
When the president talks to God
Do they drink near beer and go play golf
While they pick which countries to invade
Which Muslim souls still can be saved?
I guess god just calls a spade a spade
When the president talks to God
When the president talks to God
Does he ever think that maybe he’s not?
That that voice is just inside his head
When he kneels next to the presidential bed
Does he ever smell his own bullshit
When the president talks to God?
I doubt it
I doubt it
Melina, what movie??
