Back in my crappy little bed, in my crappy little dorm room. It was a great weekend though, and great to be home. Coming back was a little tough, but my wife was with me (in my ear, via the cell phone – thank goodness for the free cell-cell calls) from PA until I parked the car. The trip, thankfully, was event-free, and I made it from door to door in 6 hours and 3 minutes. Not too shabby.
Not much else to say, except 54 days to go. Have a good Monday.
Are you counting weekends PJ?
:sheep::joe::sheep::joe:
No, not really. 7 weekends to get through, I guess. 8 weeks.
Hey that’s not too bad a drive, PJ. Hope you can get home more often than previously thought.

The Storm The Storm
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at1+shtml/092324.shtml?3day
Looks like its going to give Kat’s neighborhood some rain
It’s raining a bit here this morning. Supposed to take an upward turn temp-wise after today, but nothing too nasty.
Good morning sheeple. Alberto is still farting around in the Gulf, trying to decide what he wants to do. It started raining about 2 AM this morning, nothing major, just steady enough to make driving interesting but not enough to get a day off work. That’s OK, though – we need it.
The storm is still projected to make landfall well north of here, whether or not it makes it to hurricane status. Worst-case scenario: the power goes out for a little while, in which case I put on the battery-powered lamp and try to finish reading F*U*B*A*R. As long as I remember to snag some beer after work, I’m ready.
US vs. Czech Republic at noon EDT!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL!
:banana::banana::banana:
don’t know if anyone caught the 60 Minutes story last night on Plan B being held up by the rethugs for fear it will make young girls promescuous. But here we go again….
(women’s health is in real jeopardy under these jokers.)
kev, the weather channel is showing red in your area and tornados may be an issue – better get your beer early! hope we get some of the rain but we may be a bit too north for this one.
edit add: thanks for the noaa link, fred. the path needs to scoot north just a smidge to get us I think.

wonder if Gardasil prevented testicular cancer if it would be held up? wonder why you don’t need a prescription for condoms yet for most women’s contraceptives you do, wonder why most insurance will pay for viagra but not the birth control bill. wonder why abstinance only mainly applies to women’s issues. :rant1:
Does Kat know anything about any grass roots efforts to get the Atlanta AAR station back on the air ??:eek::joe:
I’d like to see the House pass a resolution that hurricanes only be given regular American names. Alberto sounds too much like an illegal Mexican.
I think it’s in the Bible someplace.
I emailed Laura Flanders on Saturday when She was in Seattle with Rachel and other not far enough left lefties and asked her to spank Rachel for me :spank::shock::eek:
HA!

air quality in Atlanta today – orange, unhealthy for sensitive groups. better go get the girls out before it gets worse…
The Bushivecs probably ordered NOAA to call it Alberto so they could spin any and all damage it did as what happens when you let illegal immigrants into the country.
that’s great, pj!
fred, i don’t know about the aar atlanta station. it was too weak a signal for me to get (south of hotlana). i listen via XM.
I thought maybe they wanted to allow the hurricanes to torture suspects.
has druid dropped by lately? i haven’t seen her when i’ve been on ze blog.
My neighbors have two teenage or near to teenage boys and they have a band that practices in their garage. If that cell phone that only young people can hear is for teens these guys and their friends will never be able to use them.. They will have no low or high frequency response by the time they are 15.
On Saturday when they were practicing in the garage it was pretty warm so the garage door was open and between the total of I think four guys and the two girls that sing it got pretty noisy, I don’t know how people can afford to buy their kids these 600 watt power amplifiers and speakers, Shure wireless mikes and the like. The father has something to do with the Boulder city government.
The neighbor lady across the street came home and just about lost her false teeth when she saw what they were or in this case weren’t wearing.. I missed the show … darn it anyhow :roll::grin:
good morning – Fred, read your post about hairy thunderstorms, thank you for explaining (I did know what virga is on the radar, but didn’t know it actually took that form)
It looked like the Cooling tower was still all apart in the parking lot this morning, It was kind of hard to tell since it was dark. It was about 73 in my office space earlier according to a K type thermocouple and Omega temperature controller ( If you don’t have a thermometer make your own). Yesterday it was still nice an toasty at lunch time when I left.:yuck::shock:
pass a resolution that hurricanes only be given regular American names. Alberto sounds too much like an illegal Mexican.
I remember being at a bar-b-que last summer and talking with someone who said that hurricane names should be only American-sounding names. “But hurricanes aren’t even an America-only phenomenon” I countered. The response was something incoherent stating that everyone worldwide would appreciate some “real” names. I’m so glad I never have to talk to that person again…
Since Americas consumption of fossil fuels is one of the primary causes of all this violent weather maybe they should name hurricanes with American names so the world will remember why they are happening. Name typhoons with American names too.
Heh, that’s a good point…
Sounds like Rachel had to stay sober while she was at the Take Back America conference.
I don’t know why they put Gary Hart on a pedestal as a great democrat. He was close to being a rethug 15 years ago when he was a politician.. He wasn’t in favor of either AMTRAK or Conrail. Didn’t like the idea of the formation of the Denver area RTD either. The Northeast would be have turned into a total disaster without Conrail and AMTRAK and Denver would be in constant grid lock. I always though he was an ass.. Of course I was getting paid by the FRA at the time.

Hey Nicki does your band have the kind of stuff those kids do.??. it didn’t appear that it did ??

Most of the band members have had most of their hearing destroyed long ago. No high pitched mosquito ring here.
The only way I see to SmashAlito is to get him to walk out in front of a bus.
Hey! Prayers might work wonders.:jason:
my hearing is toast…years of blasting the stereo will do that
Falling piano.
Maybe the hurricanes could be named after the people resposible for ignoring/ruining the environment. CEO’s of the auto industry, Hell, Condi can have a ship named after her but she really deserves a hurricane.

Good Morning Seditionisti :jesus::joe:
Naw no piano a bus can chase him down the sidewalk.. It might even get a few lobbyists in the process.
Hurricane Odin.
Good morning. I actually think Weather is less evil than those politicians. It’s basically mindless and can’t help itself. However, some of these superstorms are mutant monsters that should “turn on their creators” – it would make a good sci fi story for some global-warming-caused tornado (that somehow evolved to have an evil mind) to chase Donald Rumsfeld into a barn, for instance, and obliterate him after giving him a chance to pray…
So the Portland Rose festival is under way ?? . What do the boats have to do with it .. Do they have floating floats ??
Navy ships bring in sailors, who have government paychecks to spend. Stimulates the economy. A hedge against recession.
:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
Most of the rethug politicians appear to fit into the mindless category too. So naming a storm after them would be quite appropriate.
Ms always late showed up finally so I will blog with ya all later
:fu: I want to hurt them….
I think there was a movie made with a mutant tornado and it was called “Twister” and it had Bill Paxton in it and it was horrible except for some of the special effects. They made the tornado’s actually growl like the devil in that movie.
West coast of Florida is getting blasted by rain…:(
Hey, I liked Twister! Hehe…
My computer just froze up out of the blue. WTF!
Auntie Em, it’s a twister, it’s a twister!
Ooooh! How ’bout some weather icons PJ. A hurricane and a twister would be cool. I don’t know how you’d represent an earthquake though. Earth cracking open or something.

Congress to block flood of emails to their offices…
Heard on C-SPAN.
Congress is ready to try some new program that will permit them to block emails to their offices that are anything other than what they want to hear. Many are getting emails from people that are not in their constituencies and they don’t like that. Unless the e-mail sender can fill out a form with intent and purpose, then their email will be blocked by the new program. Just because they are the “people’s House” does not mean they have to listen to what you say. What do you think of those potatoes?
=================
We need to see this in print somewhere but I have been thinking this was what was happening for some time.
Oh! Alberto moved north – we ARE going to get something if this path continues. thanks for keeping me updated, Fred! We’re still on the western side of it, though, so the winds shouldn’t be as bad. Tornadoes are usually a problem in my neck of the woods. I’ve got plenty of red wine so no problems here! :priest:
ps we DO need a twister emoticon!
oh, and you hit on a peeve of mine: senators who will ask me for money via email or in a letter BUT when I send them an email with my opinion, they reply, “sorry we can’t respond to your email because YOU LIVE OUT OF MY STATE.” Pisses me OFF. πΏ
I got a reply from Allturds office that said something to the effect that “you appear to be on the left and we do not support left leaning policies please feel free to contact your Democratic senator for your input”:barf::mad::fu:
We only have two more years of Mr. Turd and he said he wasn’t running again.
The Hurricane center is supposed to have another update at 1pm CDT.. That’s in about 12 minutes
so since he’s not running again he can give you the finger? the jerk-off
the NICEST letter I ever got was from Govenor Bill Richardson. He took the time to write an actual letter. It was unreal. The one GA senator who responds sends form letters, half the time on the wrong issue.
New Mexico is not a very populace state Richardson was probably happy having some one write to him.. he was feeling lonely…The Navajoes probably send him a sheep once in a while and communicate with smoke signals.:lol:

Hey everybody,
It finally stopped raining about half an hour ago. I’m going to make a mad dash for home before it starts up again. As Krista noted, I have an errand to run.
:40:
We’re supposed to call the emergency number in the morning to find out whether or not to come to work. The storm is still too far away for them to make that call today. I’m guessing that they might give us a delayed opening, which doesn’t do me that much good because I will already be showered and dressed by the time I call, but it will be helpful to people who have a longer commute than I do.
So far, so good. We’ll see what happens tonight. I got to watch some of the soccer during lunch, but managed to keep lunch down anyway. Looks like the US will get to go home soon unless they step it up against Italy and Ghana.
isn’t THAT the truth
The National Hurricane center issued the 4 pm public advisory . It wasn’t much different than what was already posted. The radar pictures shows the blob getting closer to closer to land.
The US soccer team is doing about as well against the Europeans as the US army is doing against the Iraqi’s.
Losing to the US would be a lot like losing to Guatemala anyhow. π― For some European nations losing to a banana republic would be embarrassing
We seem to be having a hairless thunder boomer right now..It doesn’t show on the Denver blob :-(:shock:

Hey Kevin, don’t forget this :bong:
And this:fire:
BAGHDAD β Fears of an imminent offensive by the U.S. troops massed around the insurgent stronghold of Ramadi intensified Saturday, with residents pouring out of the city to escape what they describe as a mounting humanitarian crisis.
The image pieced together from interviews with tribal leaders and fleeing families in recent weeks is one of a desperate population of 400,000 people trapped in the crossfire between insurgents and U.S. forces. Food and medical supplies are running low, prices for gas have soared because of shortages and municipal services have ground to a stop.
U.S. and Iraqi forces had cordoned off the city by Saturday, residents and Iraqi officials said. Airstrikes on several residential areas picked up, and troops took to the streets with loudspeakers to warn civilians of a fierce impending attack, Ramadi police Capt. Tahseen Dulaimi said.
U.S. military officials refused to confirm or deny reports that a Ramadi offensive was underway.
Thousands of families remain trapped in the city, those who have fled say. Many can’t afford to leave or lack transportation, whereas other families have decided to wait for their children to finish final examinations at school before escaping.

To bad Hurricanes don’t form about 20 degrees north of where they usually do and then track due West achieving about a category 6 status in a 2 hour or less time period. :gate::omg::jason: these people.
A lady from Portland on the Shultz show said..
There was a young women who deserted from the army and was arrested at her home in Eugene by Eugene police without a warrant and was hauled off and the Eugene police/city won’t admit to what happened or tell any one where they took the woman. The lady’s mom called someone in a Portland peace group and Portland officials were trying to get info out of the city of Eugene..
So what does Nicki know about this ??:omg::eek:
Are they beginning to haul dissenters away ??:mad:

They did have a federal warrant. Her daughter is under treatment for PTSD but is being held in the Eugene slammer until the military police pick her up and return her to her unit for immediate redeployment to IRAQ.
