Today on Press the Meat, it’s Deputy National Security Adviser John Brennan, on to answer Republicans questions about why Obama never uses the words “war” and “terror.” Then, from the 2010 Nude Economists Calendar, it’s Mr. September Hank Paulson, and Mr. December, big Al Greenspan. Plus there’s a roundtable with Former Chairman of the National Closeted Republicans Committee, Ed Gillespie and Former Clinton White House Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers.
Faze the Nation is live from Sun Life Stadium (really? That’s what they call it? I hope none of our bailout bucks went in to buying the naming rights) in Miami, where word has it there’s a football game going on later today. Bob Schieffer has NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the not recently elected to the Hall of Fame, Shannon Sharpe, Phil “hey, at least I’m not as annoying as Chris Collinsworth” Simms and one of only a handful of sports broadcasters who didn’t go to SU, Jim Nantz (not to be confused with Jim Nance, who did go to SU).
At Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace has the Queen of the Tea Party, Sarah Palin.
On the Goebbels network, he’s barely been sworn into the Senate, but Baba Wawa wants to know if Scott Bwown is wunning for Pwesident. Aren’t we being a little desperate and needy there, my wepublican fwiends? Plus Jake “the mens room” Tapper interviews Tim Geithner, on to tell us how great things are going, now that labor prices have dropped so low, since people are desperate for work. Then it’s a roundtable with George :jerk: Will, Bloomberg’s Al Hunt, Piggy Peggy Noonan, Ruth Marcus of the Washington Post, and John Podesta.
At CNN, Fareed Zakaria has King Abdullah II of Jordan, plus he’ll sit down and listen to John Yoo torture the truth.
Of course, today’s big story is Super Bowl XLIV, numbered in honor of Floyd Little this year. It’s a little known fact that, without the Super Bowl (and the copyright notice at the end of movies), Roman numerals would have become extinct many years ago.
Today, it’s a team that’s never been to the Super Bowl, versus a team that ran out of Baltimore in the middle of the night like cowards, abandoning its fans, city, and state.
So, I’ll be pulling for the Saints today. I just hope it’s over before bedtime.
44 to me is forever Jerry West, the Zeke from Cabin Creek and then maybe Willie McCovey.
:yippee:
Oh, to me, it’s Jim Brown, Ernie Davis, and Floyd Little. And then maybe Derrick Coleman and John Wallace. And then maybe Hank Aaron and Reggie Jackson. And then there’s President #44.
Not a white guy in the bunch.
Too bad the three-point shot wasn’t around in Jerry West’s day. He’d have scored 40,000 points.
Jim Brown was always 32 to me. Always seemed he was dragging that many guys as he churned out another great gain.
Eh, pro football, with that arcane way they have of determining a champion through a “playoff” system.
They should come up with some mysterious system of ranking teams based on polls and computer ratings, and then just pick two teams to play and call that a championship game.
As long as we are talking about WV heroes, #70
Saw him match up against # 32 a few times.
To tell you the truth, I don’t really remember Jim Brown playing. I was about 4 when he retired. I remember Floyd Little and Larry Csonka in the same backfield at Syracuse, though. Even remember seeing them around. As I recall, Csonka had a part time job as a security guard at a local car dealership.
Csonka used to run with a few guys hanging all over him, too. He even got a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness one time while he was carrying the ball. I seem to recall he knocked the guy out with a forearm shot.
I can imagine now what it would be like to have 24/7 beauty pageant contestant responses. Cringeworthy.
So she gets $100,000 to speak to TeaBaggers and then she turns around and “gives it back to the cause”. So why didn’t she just do it for free? I don’t get this.
PJ, Can you pay me $1,000,000,000,000,000.00 for doing a special comment on this blog? I will alert the media to the fact that I have set a world record in blogging fees. Then I will invest that money back into the MS blog. Also, this will be good for America, also.
#44 Chuck Foreman
master of the spin move and the goal line touchdown vault
Someone else must have done the vault before him, but at the time it was an automatic 7.

Somehow I managed to resist the dulcet tones of Queen Sarah last night, although I’m sure I’ll hear some of the more idiotic portions of her speech tomorrow on Stephanie Miller’s show. I’ll be interested to hear what Shannyn Moore has to say as well. Shannyn’s radio show has been back on the air for about three weeks, and I’ve been enjoying it as a more soothing alternative to what I used to listen to from 3-6 PM Eastern. Stream it at kudo1080.com.
I caught the last 15 or so minutes of The Express yesterday, interesting timing in that it was just after I found out that Floyd Little made the HOF. Waaaaaaaay overdue IMHO. I remember watching him with the Broncos when I was a kid, and wondering why his opponents had such a hard time tackling the guy. Going to try to record the entire movie this week during our MANDATORY OVERTIME EVERY DAY at work. The paycheck is nice, but by Saturday night I’m usually spent. Well, more spent than usual.
I’ve been nursing a cold and sore throat all weekend, so I’ve mostly been staying home and consuming lots of liquids. As if I need an excuse.
:40:
44 = Willie McCovey
“You ruined your favorite student.”
“It’s just one guy. They always do it to themselves anyway.”
“Good one. Do you think he could hear that?”
I’m here blog side as the game starts. Carrie Underwood did absolutely one of the worst renditions of our National Anthem I’ve ever heard. OUCH! :billcat:
Sounds like a plan, Web. You will take a check, right?
I missed all the pregame who-hah. I put the DVR on pause as soon as they announced Queen Latifa, so I’m FFW’ing though the commercials (I know, blasphemy). Just saw the Colts’ first TD. Watched them announce Floyd Little for the HOF, though. He looked very happy.
Saints were lucky there at the end of the first half.
I wonder if Archie Manning has mixed emotions for this game.
Wow, Pete Townshend looks like Jack Albertson in Chico and the Man.
eya gang!
just got in from watching the Olympic Torch go by a hundred feet from the house on Old Yale rd. Old Yale is the original road going from the west coast to the east coast in Canada.
lots of protesters across the street and cops keeping them off the sidewalks.
OK, just wanna say that Manning threw the INT that clinched Super Bowl 44 for the Saints with 44 seconds to go in the 4th quarter.
All for Floyd, I think.
Go Saints :yippee:
Go Floyd :blues:
Wow, Lenny Dawson. There’s a name I haven’t thought about in years. Looks pretty good, too.
He’s still a sportscaster in KC.
I never expected that but it was almost as good as any of the 49ers’ victories. 1st game I watched in it’s entirety all season. Little had a big grin and it was great to see Jerry Rice even if that was a given. Thought The Who kinda sucked. Hope they get The Kinks next year.
And thank gawd the game was not on Fux with that dipshit Buck. Buck’s dad used to do a pretty good radio b’cast of MNF with old KC coach Hank Stram. His son is awful.
I don’t get NBC so the Olympics mean nuttin’ to me. Could care less.
