Hey, looks like a big weekend ahead. First, Marc’s scheduled to be on Sam Seder’s show, and then of course all of you out in the general vicinity of Vancouver get the chance to see Marc and a lot of other comedians at the CanWest ComedyFest, plus we can all go out and torture somebody, now that tough-talkin’ dubya and maverick mister principles John McCain have come to the glorious “compromise” (this was one of Uncle Karl’s finest moments: a fake “dispute” between John “Bend Over” McCain and the White House that allowed both of them to get what they wanted – dubya looks “tough,” McCain looks “independent,” and the Democrats look like impotent surrender monkeys). And Happy 55th Birthday to Mark Riley. :cake:
Enjoy your Friday.

KPOJ runs Riley live. I liked what Young Turks had to say about the grandstanding by Pelosi and (especially) Rangel. Then they showed their ignorance with the Hamas remarks. Get real, jerks!
Mornin’ all. I wonder if Sam will be broadcast in NY or if they still have “technical difficulties” :jerk:
yeah, just when they say something interesting Cenk (or Ben) goes and blows it by saying something truly stupid….I noticed that bout them many times
I can’t even GET the NY station… the whole thing is technical difficulties for me.
Hey everyone…great Krugman today…and Freidman too….
But the gist of all of this…the insurance industry and outsourcing, which are the respective topics, is that we are FUCKED….
It is so horribly depressing what has happened to this country.
Can it even ever be turned around?
I hope hope hope that this Marc thing is more than just a little spot, and maybe an hour co-host gig or something….like Al has different co-hosts daily for an hour…..

great review of what is sure to be a great film?:pup:There’s no plot here; like the MTV show that spawned it, this movie is just a progression of increasingly disgusting and/or dangerous stunts. Blood is drawn, vomit spewed and effluvium drips into view. Some of the tamer segments involve cast members strapping themselves onto various propulsion devices in hopes of crossing large bodies of water. Needless to say, the devices almost always blow up, and the cast member is thrown from said device and incurs various head traumas. All of this is met with unbridled hilarity by the rest of the guys, who are usually seen standing around giving each other high fives and screaming with laughter.
What is that? A documentary on dubya’s presidency?
[The massive fraud charge] appears to be a gross exaggeration. Justice Saylor, the only member of Pennsylvania’s high court to address the merits, found that the Nader campaign, contrary to the harsh language employed by President Judge Colins, had not engaged in “massive” fraud: “[a] review of the tables and exhibits attached to the order … suggest[s] that the problem was of a more limited scale (for example, 687 signatures out of 51,273 reviewed–or approximately 1.3% of the signatures–were rejected on the basis of having been forged).”
Moreover, 588 of these forged signatures (85% of the total) were uncovered by President Judge Colins. The other ten judges found fewer than 100 forged signatures. Granted, there were an additional 1,087 “duplicate” signatures reported, but even including these as “forged” or “fraudulent” raises the total to fewer than 2,000, about 4% of Nader’s total submission.
President Judge Colin’s conclusion notwithstanding, a thorough review of the record reveals that simple technicalities were responsible for the rejection of most signatures. Including information (like dates and addresses) “written in [the] hand of another,” was a common reason for striking signatures. Almost 8,000 signatures were cancelled for this reason. Almost 9,000 signatures were thrown out because otherwise qualified electors—who could vote—were not registered on the day they signed Nader’s petition. More than 6,000 signatures were invalidated because the addresses provided did not precisely match those on the voting roles. Nearly 2,000 signatures were ruled invalid because information was missing. This is hardly the stuff of massive fraud, as alleged by President Judge Colins.
http://jurist.law.pitt.edu/forumy/2006/08/politics-in-pennsylvania-stifling.php
Some people vote outside their districts, some vote more than once, some cast votes for other voters. But no major-party candidate to my knowledge has been forced off the ballot or out of office for this reason.
Should states be allowed to use incentives and deterrents to manage their ballots? Sure. But within the bounds of constitutional reason. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled on several occasions that states cannot assess non-trivial ballot fees. Forcing a candidate to pay for signature validation clearly runs afoul of this precedent. Forcing an unsuccessful candidate to pay after-the-fact is no-more constitutional.
yeah….
:spank:you never saw the first jack-ass pj?
Doesn’t seem right, absent provable fraud on the campaign’s account. I mean, 80 grand isn’t much money to Ralph, but it sure would be tough for a “regular” person to come up with that kinda money. Here in NY, the rules for getting on the ballot are very, very restrictive (down to the color of the ink, and if one signature on a sheet is invalid – like the district changed at the end of the block, for example, and the colector has it on the same sheet, anf the whole sheet gets tossed out, not just the sig).
That’s one reason it takes a huge political machine to get on the ballot.
That’s Laura Bush, I take it?
That sounds like the way Oregon’s Secretary of State went after throwing out the signatures in 2004. Except for different color of ink. I would get one signature on a sheet and turn them in. You always get forged signatures and people screwing around by signing Bullwinkle Moose and Roger Ramjet. Nader’s 2004 effort was no worse than other campaigns. I know, I used to do it for a living. Actually, a second job.
:shock:no this is laura bush!:boobs::rofl2:ha ha ha…………
All part of what needs to get changed. Unfortunately, once people actually get elected by making use of the system, they tend to not wanna change the system once they’re in. That’s one big reason I think any viable third party has to be built from the ground up. Get people into the local governemnts, and start making changes to the infrastructure so that national candidates can actually get elected, and then have something to work with once they’re in office.
St Benedict stands for spiritual leadership, learning and devotion to God. As a strong spiritual leader he introduces new fruitful ways into the monastic movement of his time and survives even a poison attack by his less inspired fellow monks. He then establishes twelve monasteries with his Divinely guided Rule that is a collection of timeless pearls of wisdom and that is therefore still being used around the world. He is able to perform miracles, read other people’s minds; make water flow from rocks and a disciple walk on water; making oil continue to flow from a flask. In short his miracles reflect the events of other prophets of Israel as well as events in the life of Christ.
Try to follow St Benedict’s balanced pattern of living and praying. When you follow your spiritual path you must not forget to ground yourself also in all your God’s work. It is very easy to get carried away by mystical experiences but you also need to fulfill your daily routine and duties. When you make it a habit to find happiness in the small joys and pleasures in life, then you will also be able to appreciate the great visions and glimpses of God’s glory.
Father, in your goodness grant me the intellect to comprehend you, the perception to discern you, and the reason to appreciate you. In your kindness endow me with the diligence to look for you, the wisdom to discover you, and the spirit to apprehend you. In your graciousness bestow on me a heart to contemplate you, ears to hear you, eyes to see you, and a tongue to speak of you. In your mercy confer on me a conversation pleasing to you, the patience to wait for you, and the perseverance to long for you. Grant me a perfect end – your holy presence. Amen.

I have read that ballot access for third-parties was much easier in the 19th Century than it is now.
Do you wear the St. Benedict Medal?
He made some great eggs, too.
Well, back in the 19th century, you didn’t have to worry about those pesky old women and black folks gettin’ in there and mucking everything up.

You know something Seanie? When youre young, it seems like you have all the time in the world to fritter away on “entertainment”….as you get older you start to realize that life is too short to waste precious time watching other people vomit, poop and make fun of eachother…though its fun when youre young, I guess…
After many harrowing nights cleaning up toddler vomit from the walls to the bed to the bookshelf, (not to mention dog poop and vomit and not bird poop) it loses its shine….
So, I can guarantee that Jackass is one movie that I wont be seeing….
Rachel Ray has on live penguins…I didnt even know she had a show on because I dont watch anything besides MSNBC during the day…but now need to try to check Rosie at 11AM, just the beginning slot where they go over whats in the news….and betting on how long Elizabeth Neocon will stay with the show, as she seems to spend every commercial break crying her eyes out.
I might be willing to wear a St. Bernard Keg.
yes, that’ll go over well at the Rosh Hashanah dinner tonight, just the piece of jewelry I need (maybe some other time!)
That isn’t koolaid that those dogs keep in that keg, either.
What do they say about that St. Christopher medal? or the brown scapular? You crypto Christian, you.

It looks like Marc is in the 3rd hour…I hope he IS the 3rd hour as opposed to just doing a couple of bits…..
It seems like alot of the regular bloggers over there might have to be at work during this new time….I always find it sort of odd over there because the format is strange to me and the people have their own language….
But Im trying to blog a little over there during the show…at least for Marc’s day….and to encourage then to import more MS characters (maybe get Jim some work!)
hey I’m eclectic in my beliefs.

not sure. I know some Africans, Nigerians I believe that came over here could not worship their own gods and “hid” them in Catholic Saints… now that’s an interesting religion that developed
Saint Christopher was removed from the Universal Calendar of Saints based on a lack of specific historical evidence regarding the details of his life. Contrary to popular belief, he was not “de-canonized” or declared not to be a saint. He is still considered to be a saint in the Catholic Church.

Santa Rosa. I have a May deren video where she explores this syncretism.
Hey, this must be the person doing Marc’s website redesign. No wonder he blew off my offer of free help!
I used to have a list of all the Saints and what to pray to them for…
Santeria. I’ve explored it a bit. Chango (lightening God) “equals” St. Barbara, for instance.
Minims (also called the Minimi or The Order of the Minims) are followers of a Roman Catholic religious order founded by Francis of Paola in the fifteenth century in Italy. The order flourished in France until the time of the French Revolution. The name refers to their humility as the “least of all religious” and is derived from a passage in the Vulgate, specifically Matt. 25:40.
The origin of the Minims dates to 1435 when Francis, after having studied with the Franciscans and dedicated himself to a life of solitude, took on his first followers as the “Hermits of St. Francis of Assisi.” Francis and his followers founded convents at Paterno in 1444 and Milazzo, Sicily in 1469.
In 1471, the Archibishop of Cosenza granted them exemption from his jurisdiction. This status was confirmed two years later in 1473 by Pope Sixtus IV, who also granted the status as mendicant friars.
The order did not have a written rule until 1493, 57 years after its founding. The first rule, confirmed by Pope Alexander VI in 1501, was essentially taken from the rule of Francis of Assisi.
Santeria. How did I get Santa Rosa?
Oh, that’s good. I would hate to see one of the holy helpers (isn’t that what batman kept on his utility belt?) kicked off the team. That would be if I didn’t think it was all a bunch of hooey. If I was gonna carry some trinket around, I think it’d be somebody with some real juice – like Arkangel Michael or something.
St. Barbara. Didn’t her old man whack her head off?
Patron Saint of Artillerymen.
Santeria is what the religion was renamed as it developed in the United States and synchronized with Catholoicism. Also Voudoun (Voodoo) and Candoble are two variations that developed from this synchronitization. The Yoruban “Orishas” (gods) in their pure forms (minus Catholic saints) is a religion called Ifa.
I think she carried a sword, so possibly 🙂
14 Holy Helpers.
Saint Barbara
And why she is the patron saint of artillerymen.
sill-www.army.mil/pao/pabarbar.htm –
:omg:
ohh…interesting
The legend that her father was struck by lightning caused her, probably, to be regarded by the common people as the patron saint in time of danger from thunder-storms and fire, and later by analogy, as the protector of artillerymen and miners.
Yeah, and firemen, too (among other things). I wonder if when there’s a new saint, the other saints have to hand over a few of their chores? Like, John Paul – will St. Barbara have to hand over being patron saint of gravediggers so he gets one? And, does he have to wait until he’s an “official” saint, or does he get his fancy wings with the epaulettes and the little shovel pin right away?
so soldiers should carry St. Barbara medals, seemingly…
thunderstorms – Chango, ok, I can see why they syncretized him with St. Barbara
Well, what happens when both sides are carrying St. Barbara medals though? Nothing would ever get done. I think now that Gus Hall is dead, he should get to take over being the patron saint of lost causes from St. Jude.
No. They double up. Duplicate tasks.
The CP had its heyday in the 1930s. All downhill after that.
Pope Innocent III (Gavignano, near Anagni, c. 1161 – June 16, 1216 in Perugia), born Lotario de’ Conti di Segni, was Pope from January 8, 1198 until his death. As Pope, Innocent III represents the height of the medieval papacy. His papacy asserted the absolute spiritual authority of his office, while still respecting the temporal authority of Kings.
:pope:
Double up? What kinda crap is that? What if you’re tryign to blast the hell out of a bunch of other humans and animals and trees and such, praying like crazy to St. Babs, and then you find out it’s her day off, and the other side has the holy hand grenade of Antioch? No wonder I quit being a Catholic. They just make these rules up as they go along.
This just in: Pope Innocent found guilty.
When Pope Innocent VIII (1432-1492) took the papal crown in 1484, he started a major campaign against witches, by writing a Papal Bull that basically began the European Witchcraft craze. Innocent’s Bull was called Summis desiderantibus. It stated that “….[witches] do not shrink from committing and perpetrating the foulest abominations and filthiest excesses” (Marshall). Innocent urged all clery to assist inquisitors in finding witches. He used this passage from Exodus 12:18: Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.”
I’m gettin’ pretty sick of innocent’s bull.
LOL second good joke from PJ this morning
It’s funny, ‘cuz I think it was Pope John XXIII’s Hoop Bull that started the Hula Hoop craze in the 1950’s.
did he just say Marc was NOT going to be on today, or that he was? I just missed it…
i agree about the turks…just when you think they’re “on it,” some ignorant analysis pops up. But hey, their voices are a heck of a lot better than Maddows. :sammy:

I overslept this morning, but that doesn’t mean that Maron should.
Or maybe his first name? Yomama Obama. Yeah, I like that better.
I like that name John Bendover McCain – the whole thing’s pathetic, because he is so loathed by the Undead Zombies who vote in the GOP primary that he has emasculated himself for nothing – He ain’t going nowhere. :sammy:

This is a song lyric:
Uncorrected personality traits that seem whimsical in a child may prove to
be ugly in a fully grown adult.
Lack of involvement with the father, or over-involvement with the mother,
can result in lack of ability to relate to sexual fears, and in homosexual
leanings, narcissism, transexuality (girls from the waist up/men from the
waist down), attempts to be your own love object. Reconcile your parents to
you by becoming both at once!
Even Marilyn Monroe was a man, but this tends to get overlooked by our
mother-fixated, overweight, sexist media.
So:
Uncorrected personality traits that seem whimsical in a child may prove to
be ugly in a fully grown adult.
If you give in to them
Every time they cry
They will become little tyrants
But they wont remember why
Then when they are thwarted
By people in later life
They will become psychotic
And they wont make an ideal husband or wife
The spoiled baby grows into
the escapist teenager whos
the adult alcoholic whos
the middle-aged suicide. (Oy.)
So:
Uncorrected personality traits that seem whimsical in a child may prove to
be ugly in a fully grown adult.
well, get the ones with the covers…I like the ones with the metal that prevent any sort of leaf or dirt material at all from getting in.
Who knew you had to clean gutters…? We never did that in brooklyn!
The moss on the roof is another problem in that it looks good but apparently is not so great for the roof itself….who knew?

:yippee::dancers::hot::omg:
Rosh Hashanah (“[Jewish] New Year” or Yom Ha-Zikkaron – “Day of Remembrance,” or Yom Teruah – “Day of the Sounding of the Shofar”). Although Rosh Hashanah means “new year” (literally, the “head [of] the year”) it falls on the first day of the seventh month of the Hebrew calendar, Tishri. It is called the Jewish New Year because it celebrates the day that the world was created; it also marks the beginning of the atonement period that ends ten days later with Yom Kippur. During these ten days, one is required to apologize to everyone whom one has wronged, and the aggrieved should forgive.
* Yom Kippur, (“Day of Atonement”) is centered on redemption; a day of atonement and fasting for sins committed individually and communally during the previous year. Many consider this the most important Jewish holiday. Yom Kippur is both a solemn day marked by self-scrutiny, when Jews should “afflict” themselves (by fasting), and a celebratory day, as Jews reflect on God’s mercy.

Innocent seemed to largely go along with the anti-witchcraft hysteria. Spineless. But not truly evil. (Hey. I am no apologist for the fucker. Think of him how you may.) Look at somebody like Torquemada for a real evil bastard.
I take that back. Innocent Vlll is an evil bastard on a par with ….He was diabolical.
Innocent VIII died on July 25, 1492, leaving behind him numerous children (Octo Nocens pueros genuit, totidemque puellas; Hunc merito poterit dicere Roma patrem – “Eight wicked boys born, and just as many girls, so this man could be entitled to be called Father of Rome”), towards whom his nepotism had been as lavish as it was shameless. Savonarola chastised him for his worldly ambitions. The unsympathetic chronicler Stefano Infessura provides many lively details, among them the apparent attempt to revive Innocent VIII on his deathbed by blood transfusions from three young male children (who thereafter died as well).
The Malleus Maleficarum was compiled by two Dominican inquisitors, Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger, who claimed in the book that they had been empowered by Pope Innocent VIII to prosecute witches throughout Germany via a Papal decree of December 5, 1484; but this decree had been issued before the book was written and before their planned methods were made known.

I hope Sam gives us a clue Monday as to WTF is going on. Not nice to plug a guest all week and not have him show. :fustrate:

GEORGETOWN – Interstate 70 reopened in the Colorado mountains Friday after blowing snow and icy roads forced an overnight shutdown and stranded some travelers.
A winter storm warning is in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday for Northern Mountains west of Highway 119 and west of the Continental Divide from Rocky Mountain National Park to the Sawatch Range to Summit county and then Rabbit Ears Pass.
Rising temperatures melted most of the snow and left the highway — Colorado’s main east-west route — clear and dry from Denver to the Eisenhower Tunnel, about 45 miles to the west.
Some icy spots remained on Vail Pass; about 70 miles west of Denver, said Stacey Stegman, a spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Transportation.
9NEWS Meteorologist Marty Coniglio says 12 to 18 inches of new snow is possible in the area with drifting due to northwesterly winds.
A snow and blowing snow advisory is also in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday for the Park Range south to the Flattops, Elk Mountains and Western San Juans.
Marty says there could be five to 12 inches of snow in those areas.
Residents around Loveland Pass, Vail Pass, portions of I-70 and Kenosha Pass should stay with 9NEWS and 9NEWS.com for continuing coverage of weather advisories and updates.
There could also be high winds on the eastern plains. Travel will be challenging east of Limon as a storm producing high winds of up to 40 miles-per-hour comes in from the north. Due to this storm parts of eastern Colorado can expect more sprinkling showers.
Showers in the metro area will continue into Friday. A light snow and rain mix is expected Saturday with accumulation expected only in the foothills west of Lakewood.

Black Republicans run radio ad in Maryland alleging that Democrats started the Ku Klux Klan
The Associated Press
ANNAPOLIS, Md. A national black Republican group is running a radio advertisement accusing Democrats of starting the Ku Klux Klan and saying the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican, a claim challenged by civil-rights researchers.
Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, the black Republican nominee for Maryland’s open Senate seat, disavowed the ad Thursday as “insulting to Marylanders”. He said his campaign asked the Washington-based National Black Republican Association to stop running it.
At an event in Baltimore, Steele said, “I don’t know exactly what the intent of the ad was” but that “it’s not helpful to the public discourse.”
The ad does not mention Steele or his Democratic opponent, Rep. Ben Cardin.

:pup: I did it, I adopted a puppy. Except I can’t bring her home til Tuesday :rant1: This is the first time I have ever adopted from the pound and it was a horrible experience! I wanted to adopt today so I have the whole weekend to acclimate her to the other dogs. They wouldn’t let me take her home and bring her back to get spayed, even with a deposit, state law. :rant1: I know they are trying to help animals but I am so friggin’ tired of being lumped in with all the other idiots of the world who are so incredibly irresponsible with their pets. Why does the lowest common denominator have to influence everything?? Then, I had to fill out this incredibly detailed questionnaire about my past pets, my landlord, housing situation etc to be put in a data base for the Maricopa County Animal Control. I know they are trying to protect animals with that but it felt pretty damned intrusive :jerk: (the emo I really wanted was the bumping bananas)
:bf::bf:
Congratulations!
Yeah when I adopted my cats I felt like a criminal…
Did you ever get those pictures scanned?
:cat::pup:
I got another cattle dog. She’s black/white and brown. I have a cell phone pic but I can’t download those. I will bring my camera tomorrow when I visit her in jail and take some pics and put them up. I haven’t thought of a name yet, I’ll have to live with her for a few days. I want my PUPPY!:pup:
Yes I did. How do I upload them?
Hey guys…so many new emoticons….
PJ- we need a PARROT!!…just a little one!
I cant believe that I missed my first chance to bounce my boobies along with Randi and my new emoticons! Oh well…maybe next week.
Mom is saying that Chomsky is #1 at Amazon and #2 at Borders….
Kay was talking about her gutters today and I thought PJ was who was talking about them…but then PJ was also talking about gutters…and Im so confused….Cant even begin to sort it out!
Ive been laying down to try to heal my back so am all discombobulated…..just lost…and watching hardball with Mom.
:yippee::boobs::boobs:
How come an emoticon with a yellow face has pink boobies? Shouldnt they be yellow?…are smiley faces only yellow in their faces and then pink on the rest of their bodies? The gun guy has a yellow arm….the butt guy has a yellow butt….
There was a male Red Merle there that was pretty cute to. If I had my own property I probably would have taken them both. I told him I would check on him this weekend.
:yippee: :pup:
Congratulations, KP! How old is she? :dancers:

i’ve taken two strays to the pound…not to drop off, but to get them checked for micro-chips and check lists for lost doggies. They treated me suspiciously like I was some evil doer trying to get rid of my own dog.
Krista!!! Congratulations!! Are you ready for a puppy? Its like having a baby in the house….get ready for a couple of rougth weeks…

After I found out I would have to wait til Tuesday to bring her home, I stomped out and went to the Humane Society to see what they had. It was so much friendlier and nicer there and the dogs all seemed happier and less frightened. There was a really cute male Blue Merle pup but he was deaf and not that I wasn’t willing to work with him but a big reason why I like having a dog is for their watch dog capabilities. I need the dog to be able to hear weird noises.
Hey Kat-How long does Mr get to stay home this time? Are they taking a break from the war…or just reporting on it. I have seen so little on lately….its strange…maybe its the Chavez thing…and Bush talking so much…pre election playing down of the fact that we are still at war…?
She’s 4-5 months old. I’ve never had a puppy but it’ll get my ass out from behind this computer. I miss having a dog so much. I will get some pics this weekend.
yeah, a deaf dog might not be the best watch-dog! A secondary dog, but not primary. I’m with you – dogs have jobs – to help keep us safe.
Apparently Blue Merles have a recessive trait that makes them deaf if you breed them together. i did not know that.
I crate train mine, if you need any “help” with how to do that, just let me know. Keeps them safe while you sleep. None of mine sleep in a crate now, but if they ever have to be in a crate (like at the vet or traveling) they don’t freak out.
melina – hope your back is better at least.
Hmm, I’ll think about crating. I never had to think about that.
Hey, congratulations, KP. I just had the image of a little doggie paw signing “woof!”
If yez wanna upload some pix here, go to the photo page, register, and then you can upload pictures. There’s a pretty good collection going.
doggies don’t like to pee where they sleep so they learn to hold it in a crate. of course, accidents can happen! guess they have an interesting gene deal going on – the blue merles.
It’s funny but my cats crate trained themselves..If I can’t find them they are upstairs in the closet side by side in their crates. Then I start to wonder if they are sensing earthquakes.
:omg:
i think cats might be like apple computers!
Oh Kitty! :cat:
Okay, how do I upload pics when it says invalid image size?
George Bush finally evens the score with Osama bin Laden
What size are your pictures? I guess I can set the limits up higher, since this seems to be a hassle.
Most of my pictures are under 500 KB
I saved to my desktop converting to jpg and at that point I made sure the size was no larger than 1000 in either box. Voila.:cat:
Okay Blue, but I’m gonna go to the store and get some milk before I’m in for the night. I want my PUPPY! :pup:
Dogs and puppies in particular, feel safe in a crate. I never crated my dogs because I felt like it was cruel…but I realized as I moved along through puppy ownership that it was a better way to not only yeach them, but to keep them feeling safe and happy. The crate should be a happy place. Be sure to get a ocuple of puppy kongs and you can stuff them with healthy treats like freeze dried liver and little cookies, and layers of peanut butter. Freeze them and you can give the pup one at bedtime in the crate. Its hard to get at the stuff and takes alot of work, and the coldness feels good on their gums.
I would definitely take the pup out every few hours at night for the first few nights and say whatever your command is : “hurry up” or “go wee wee” (those are my favorites)
My dogs still pee in the crates sometimes if they really have to go… but all in all, it works out to give them their own den. They are den animals and used to that. Its also pretty safe when you have to go out.
They say that if you dont give them bedding that they really wont pee because if it soaks into a pillow or whatever they wont know what they have done….I havent been able to do that. Id prefer to change the nedding and clean the crate.
Of course, Angie Puppy lived in a crate totally for almost a year so she is used to going in a crate…but even she is really really good at this point….and she barrels into the crate happily at bedtime because she knows shes gonna get a treat….happy as pie.
Of course I have a couple of crazy old chihuahuas that I sleep with….:pup:.
That breed needs lots of exercise. Have you got a fenced dog run?
:pup:excerpt chavez un speech
The president then — and this he said himself, he said: “I have come to speak directly to the populations in the Middle East, to tell them that my country wants peace.”
That’s true. If we walk in the streets of the Bronx, if we walk around New York, Washington, San Diego, in any city, San Antonio, San Francisco, and we ask individuals, the citizens of the United States, what does this country want? Does it want peace? They’ll say yes.
But the government doesn’t want peace. The government of the United States doesn’t want peace. It wants to exploit its system of exploitation, of pillage, of hegemony through war.
It wants peace. But what’s happening in Iraq? What happened in Lebanon? In Palestine? What’s happening? What’s happened over the last 100 years in Latin America and in the world? And now threatening Venezuela — new threats against Venezuela, against Iran?
What are the dimensions of your pix?
PJ-have you seen this live365 site?
If you put old time radio in the search box it comes up with all of these stations that play the stuff…etc…
I found out about it from a fan who write that she listens every day….poor Hi…screwed at every turn.
My doggie was bed trained. He feels quite comfortabe in our bed. Of course, he also feels comfortable in his bed in our room, where he goes because my wife kicks. He also likes his recliner in my office, and his bed under the desk in my office. He kinda likes the couch in the living room, too, but we don’t go in there much. All-in-all, he’s quite well trained. 😀
Oh, yeah, Live 365 works in both of my media streamers. Also lots of OTR in the Shoutcast directory.
:growl:melina was mean to me earlier today about my juvenile movie that i want to go see!
What is life like for the citizens of Venezuela? Maybe Chavez is a clown and its unseemly for heads of state to criticize eachother, but damn, is everyone supposed to stay silent as this horrible administration ruins the entire world?
I dont believe in crappy protocol when it comes to this situation, which is an emergency!
:parrot:
Melina!
Well, our dickhead of state doesn’t seem to mind criticizing other heads of state, and Armitage threatened the Pakistani head of state with being bombed back to the stone age, so I think Chavez was well within acceptable protocols. Especially since he hasn’t invaded any sovereign nations that I know of.
Israel Lobby Debate anybody? http://www.lrb.co.uk/debates/
We have a short-haired mutt [I like the French word: “melange” – more charming, no?], looks a bit like a small whippet, which curls up in bed with you under the covers – The 18th century name for this kind of animal was “naked Turkish dog” – Also likes to climb completely into the dishwasher and ‘pre-wash’ the utensils. Dogs absolutely rule. :sammy:
Mean to you?
I didnt mean to be mean seanie…I think I was just talking about the differences that come with age…enjoy your juvenile pursuits while you can…as you loose brain cells and cartilidge in your knees you’ll have less ability to sit through that sorta stuff…its like swinging…you lose your ability to comfortably swing…(like from a swingset, dirty mind!!)
But I was probably just being bitchy because my back hurt so badly all day!!
It’s EcoT:pup:alk Seanie Sean!
Crest, be careful of dishwasher soap residue…its very poisonus.
I love those hairless dogs…I had a melange myself…jess….she was from the ASPCA in NYC…and nearly totally naked, with the behavior, tail and forehead of a besenji and the body of a whippet…and the mind of s crazy chihuahua…she barked and talked and howled…
Poor Jess was 11 or 12 when we moved here and had lived with me and Coco everywhere…Will was a toddler still, and Jess got away at night and got hit by a car. She was a real runner…and she would slip her collar and take off into the night, and come back all happy that she had taken a good run…but this itme she didnt get home.
She was also an under the covers dog…and just so devoted to me….totally crazy otherwise.
I have to scan some pics of her. She was pre computer for me…pre scanner or digital cameras….
I heard that ecotalk sucks…is it OK, blue?

:pup:jeffy’s cousin george?
Oh my, I think that picture I uploaded might be too big. I should make a smaller file like Blue suggested.
I just got a call from my son’s father’s current wife…interesting…but a waste of my time. She is realizing that he is a total fuck!
so, out of the blue when I havent heard from him in well over a year, she is calling me to chat….huh?
The Jane picture? Its fantastic…not too big at all!
Did you upload the phone one of the puppy or is it stuck on your phone?
Yeah Melina, we have a decent sized yard and it looks like I will be going to the dog park again. Michael was taking Jane with him when he took his dogs. I was bored of the dog park, but now I will have to socialize the pup, so I guess I’ll get my ass up out from behind the computer more. Plus I want to teach her how to play frisbe. Jane was an awesome frisbe dog in her day. She used to jump 6 feet or more, but then as she got older and wiser she realized that if she just ran a little further the frisbe would come down to her.
heh heh…the hip hop conservatives have a radio station…is that an oxymoron?
Self-hating hip-hopsters….
It’s stuck on my phone. I discontinued text and email on it and I don’t have a wire to connect to the computer.
Thats great Krista…did Jane herd you?…My friends in MT had one and when it was a pup it would herd you so much that it would knock you down!
actually my friend here got a beautiful little dog here with a shirt tail and defintely a blue heeler mix….she never knew what sorta dog it was until I sent her pictures of what they look like….
Great dogs…really smart…but, man they take a long time to mellow….you will have to go to the dog park!!otherwise she will drive you crazy!
Travis, good to see you even if its brief!
Im gonna go and do some research till Mahr…
I have to blog something or other. Its becoming a weekly thing and that makes it too dense and long….
Well, we’ll see pictures of the new pup soon enough….
Any name ideas?
Jane never had the urge to herd. She loved playing ball and frisbe and took it quite seriously. I used to take her to the dogpark twice a day and that seemed to keep her pretty manageable. This pup was pretty mellow compared to the other cattle dogs. They are very smart and they stay close. Jane always came when called, very important.
look!!!! :parrot:
:cold:i guess this is as close to a penguin as we shall come!
Hey everybody
How’s the blogging?
Hey Cnick! :pup:
Hey Kristapea
How are things going with ya? Did you ever get a dog?
PJ ought to try and find a Bush emoticon. Bet we could have some fun with that one!
:pup::tommygun:ha ha ha ha ha!
:ear:i have always figured this was the bush emoticon!
Your to f-u-n-n-y Sean.
I figured you’d like to target practice on Bush
:paranoid:huh i dont know what you are talking about!
Perhaps your right. That might be a bit extreme. Besides such talk could possibly result in a visit by the office of Homeland Security or the SS. We would not want you to just up and disappear.
Yup Cnick I got a pup. See post #239-250
Cool Kristapea. I’m happy for ya. Animals make better companions than ppl. I wish I had a dog. But I live in an apartment and want a house with a big yard before getting a dog. Maybe one day. If I win the lottery I could afford a house and a dog. That reminds me I have some lottery tickets I need to check.
So Kristapea you want to do a talk on the phone this weekend for a podcast? Sean? Anyone? Let me know.
There are some breeds that do fine in apartments as long as you walk them everyday. Chows are fairly inactive and are fine in apartments. But not Chow mixes. They are excellent watch dogs and they protect YOU, not the territory. It’s not my favorite breed because they can be snippy and sneaky. But they tend to be one person dogs and very stubborn. My Stella had just a tad of collie mixed in which mellowed her personality out quite a bit and she was very sweet. She was my creep spotter. Plus, she was a big fluffy teddy bear and loved to be hugged. :pup:
:tongue:nope not me no talk on phone!
Maybe, but I’m going on a day trip on Sunday, probably not all day though.
😉 Kristapea, just let me know when. N e time works for me. I can call you if you like. I have unlimited Bellsouth calling on a land line. So I guess Sean was almost famous. 😎
Okay, I’ll see how the weekend shakes out and keep it in mind.

I found a used copy of Jerry Fresia’s book on the Constitution. He gave me the galley proof copy because I was the outstanding student in his class during the Spring Quarter. Can’t find it.
Bought another book on the Fourth Crusade. The one where they sacked Constantinople in 1204. And a rhyming dictionary. Visited Powells on Hawthorne today.
“exposing the constitution and other illusions”
ohh nice
:rant1:i want a tape!
if I still had my old dual-cassette-deck stereo I could make you a copy, but alas… 😥
I am about ready to slap Issue #17 together. Still need to finish an editorial and a little lettering.
oh I was going to ask you about that, great! I really can’t wait to see it
You have a new agey arrangement of Hildegard. I like it. some people do not.
this is “new agey”? Ok… I just know it sounds great…
Modern arrangements. Synthesizers. Definitely not traditional. The singers are superb. This recording was my first exposure to her.
awww it just ended. I think I’ll play it again
I love it…thank you

The following is an excerpt from a speech Gen. Butler delivered in 1933…one of over 1,200 speeches he delivered in over 700 US cities.
“War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses.
I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and nothing else. If a nation comes over here to fight, then we’ll fight. The trouble with America is that when the dollar only earns 6 percent over here, then it gets restless and goes overseas to get 100 percent. Then the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag.
I wouldn’t go to war again as I have done to protect some lousy investment of the bankers. There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket.
There isn’t a trick in the racketeering bag that the military gang is blind to. It has its “finger men” to point out enemies, its “muscle men” to destroy enemies, its “brain men” to plan war preparations, and a “Big Boss” Super-Nationalistic-Capitalism.
It may seem odd for me, a military man to adopt such a comparison. Truthfulness compels me to. I spent thirty- three years and four months in active military service as a member of this country’s most agile military force, the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most of my time being a high class muscle- man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.
I suspected I was just part of a racket at the time. Now I am sure of it. Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service.
I helped make Mexico, especially Tampico, safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefits of Wall Street. The record of racketeering is long. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. In China I helped to see to it that Standard Oil went its way unmolested.
During those years, I had, as the boys in the back room would say, a swell racket. Looking back on it, I feel that I could have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.”
In 1935, Gen. Butler published his famed short work titled War is a Racket. Click here to read it in its entirety.

Prior to the Nazi invasion, the Pope had been working hard to get Jews out of Italy by emigration; he now was forced to turn his attention to finding them hiding places. “The Pope sent out the order that religious buildings were to give refuge to Jews, even at the price of great personal sacrifice on the part of their occupants; he released monasteries and convents from the cloister rule forbidding entry into these religious houses to all but a few specified outsiders, so that they could be used as hiding places. Thousands of Jews—the figures run from 4,000 to 7,000—were hidden, fed, clothed, and bedded in the 180 known places of refuge in Vatican City, churches and basilicas, Church administrative buildings, and parish houses. Unknown numbers of Jews were sheltered in Castel Gandolfo, the site of the Pope’s summer residence, private homes, hospitals, and nursing institutions; and the Pope took personal responsibility for the care of the children of Jews deported from Italy.”[14]
Rabbi Lapide records that “in Rome we saw a list of 155 convents and monasteries—Italian, French, Spanish, English, American, and also German—mostly extraterritorial property of the Vatican . . . which sheltered throughout the German occupation some 5,000 Jews in Rome. No less than 3,000 Jews found refuge at one time at the Pope’s summer residence at Castel Gandolfo; sixty lived for nine months at the Jesuit Gregorian University, and half a dozen slept in the cellar of the Pontifical Bible Institute.”[15]
Notice in particular that the Pope was not merely allowing Jews to be hidden in different church buildings around Rome. He was hiding them in the Vatican itself and in his own summer home, Castel Gandolfo. His success in protecting Italian Jews against the Nazis was remarkable. Lichten records that after the War was over it was determined that only 8,000 Jews were taken from Italy by the Nazis[16] —far less than in other European countries. In June,1944, Pius XII sent a telegram to Admiral Miklos Horthy, the ruler of Hungary, and was able to halt the planned deportation of 800,000 Jews from that country.
The Pope’s efforts did not go unrecognized by Jewish authorities, even during the War. The Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, Isaac Herzog, sent the Pope a personal message of thanks on February 28, 1944, in which he said: “The people of Israel will never forget what His Holiness and his illustrious delegates, inspired by the eternal principles of religion which form the very foundations of true civilization, are doing for us unfortunate brothers and sisters in the most tragic hour of our history, which is living proof of divine Providence in this world.”[17]
